I'm gonna need dunmeshi fans to think critically for a few seconds about the Toshiro and Laios misunderstanding. Turn off your western culture brains and think for a minute
It's one thing to dislike toshiro, and another thing to do it completely blindly and from a modern western perspective. Yes Laios is very heavily autistic coded and that plays SO MUCH into the entire story and not just his and Toshiro's relationship, but you need to realize that another major aspect of his misunderstanding with Toshiro is CULTURAL. Like how are yall missing the point so badly
Toshiro is from a high context culture, raised into nobility, and living in a foreign country. Think about how this may intesect with Laios as someone from an isolated, lower context culture

totally random tangent on how I got into writing:
so I was one of those creative loner kids growing up, and I read a lot of fantasy stories. and I made up my own fantasy world and cast of characters. created fictional languages and everything for them. and I started out just drawing pictures of them (this is also how I got into drawing---I don't consider myself an artist, but I've been drawing on and off since childhood).
and when I was 10 years old and was in a typing class (yes, I'm an ancient man in my mid thirties), we were given the prompt "tell a story" to practice typing something out on the computer. and so I started writing a story about my fictional characters. and I LOVED it. I very much "think in pictures." when I write, I have images in my head that I translate into language and describe. and I felt like I could "draw" so many more pictures with words than I could with physical images. like, a picture tells part of a story, and a good picture can tell you quite a lot. but with words, I could describe and convey things that would be very difficult to draw or would take many images to get across/tell the whole story.
I left that computer class and started writing more of the stories I had in my head about my characters. and I didn't stop writing. I wrote about different things as I got older, though. I read a lot of "classic" books as a teenager because I liked them (Frankenstein, Wuthering Heights, and Paradise Lost were some of my favorites), and I wrote my first novel-length piece when I was 16. it was awful, of course. a story about generational and religious trauma and frustrated desire. I completed my second piece when I was 19. it had a lot of similar themes to my first story. heavily influenced by all the philosophy books I was reading (I studied philosophy at university---nerd alert).
and I got into dragon ball fanfic when I was in my 20s. (though I'd watched the show as a kid.) there was always an underlying darkness and complexity to the series that I wanted to see explored, and I'd thought a lot about it and had so many stories in my head. and I felt like (and still feel like) if I don't get them out of me I will lose it, haha.
but yeah. I've been writing for over 20 years. I don't think I'll ever stop. it's what I was born to do, and I love doing it. I love the craft. I love thinking about writing itself, about all the different ways a story can be told. when I write, I like to play with narrative conventions with elements like unreliable narrators, frame stories, perspective bending, and making the reader a very active participant in what story they get when they read (as in, their interpretation heavily changes how they perceive the story's events, and I leave lots up for interpretation on purpose). I'm big on layers of ambiguity and playing with subjectivity. Makes my brain tingle!
I think when I finish the fic I'm writing right now, I might eventually take some elements from it and turn it into something original. and I definitely want to print a physical copy with illustrations when I finish it so people who like it can put it on their shelves! there's nothing like seeing something you WROTE sitting on a shelf like a real book.

It's been a real hot minute since I've used tumblr, did they remove the "double tap to like" feature or is my app just broken? (Aka, nothing new)

One mistake I made a lot when I started learning English was writing both the auxiliary and the main verb in past tense—as in, "Did the rain stopped?" My English teacher had to really drill this grammar point into my head, she was like "the point of 'did' here is to indicate past tense, there's no need for another time marker." Me, genuinely baffled: "Why not?" Teacher: "Think of the 'ed' in 'stopped' as having migrated to the beginning of the sentence and become 'did'. So it's no longer in 'stopped'." Well I was sad to see it go. I pointed out that in French you'd say "The rain (itself) has it stopped?" and 'the rain' feels welcome to stay even though the whole point of the pronoun 'it' should be to replace it in a quicker way. But it would be sad if the noun & its pronoun never got to hang out together so we keep both <3
My teacher had a British look on her face that made my middle-school self wonder if maybe she thought my language wasn't optimally designed, and then she said that in English it would feel clunky to give the same piece of grammatical information twice, and "if you use 'did' then the -ed in 'stopped' doesn't add anything." That just sounded offensive, I mean since when do letters need to add something to a sentence? isn't it enough that they adorn the end of words & frolic with the others in friendship. If it bothers you so much just don't pronounce them. Idk, "did the rain stopped" felt so right to me. In the end my teacher said that "The rain has it stopped?" with the redundant pronoun is the more formal French phrasing anyway, and I was like yeah true we'd rather say "is it that it (itself) has stopped to rain?" and I felt like this really proved my point and I think she felt the same way

Mr. Yang is indeed the absolute love of my life. The man I wish would just talk to me as he chaperoned my adventures. Please. I love him so much. I just..... wanna listen to him talk about whatever.
(and I genuinely love how the MC texts him like "what is this" and I do have a silly idea involving that but.... the fact even in canon your character looks at him and goes 'that's a very smart man whom I trust with my life despite him literally knocking me out! I'll just text him!')

I love how Dan Heng is just constantly WORRIED about everyone else.
He literally tried to stay out of the Luofu story. But immediately jumped into action as soon as he realized Blade was there and the others were in danger.
And now he is Penacony too!
Funniest part was all the way back in 2.0, when the Trailblazer disappeared and everyone was freaking out on the group chat. And Dan Heng was just. SHOULD I LEAVE THE EXPRESS, WHAT IS HAPPENING!?!?
I can just picture Dan Heng in his Imbibitor Lunae form, Cloud-Piercer in one hand while the other holds the phone, a bag filled to the brim with medical supplies and plushies slung over his shoulder, just standing in front of the Express's exit door, waiting for an answer.
And that was before Traiblazer got traumatized by Firefly's death. And the whole Aventurine broadcast. No wonder he also called Jing Yuan.

I don't care about ships in dungeon meshi bc the manga doesn't focus on it and being aroace that makes me happy! I'm totally content to live without
That being said, the funniest possible concept to me is Marcille being wildly bisexually attracted to both Touden siblings and being so pissed off about it

Listen (life series crack concept edition)
listennnnn
I know Double Life just started but this came to me in a vision and I had to share it ^_^
Life series’ 4th installment but it’s called Real Life in which they’re all beating each other up with sticks in person (or still in minecraft just an uncanny hyper-realistic setting) in a well-paved Denny’s parking lot. Yes the brits are there too. yes, so is the australian. no, they can’t leave the parking lot until one person remains that hasnt been bonked over the head with a stick.
come to think of it this is a really odd fever dream to have i’ll have to ask the therapist if i need any gears oiled up there ^_^
