one thing i’ve noticed in those polls or posts about fandom misogyny and widespread favoritism of male characters in fans of fictional media is that people will always blame their consistent gravitation towards men on the media itself? which can be reasonable depending on the media but i think maybe as a response to that you should invest more in media that does have well written and fleshed out female characters. i promise there are some out there. and also a lot of the time it just feels false something something for a male character people will fill in the holes in the story and flesh him out where the media doesn’t while for the female character it’s crickets. like idk i feel there should be at least a tad more self awareness with this kind of thing? might just be me though.

I've been living in such a nice bubble of the internet (Ted Lasso fandom) where pretty much everyone at least likes the characters I love that I forgot what it's like out here as a Stranger Things Jonathan Byers fan ✌️ all i can say I'm glad we're not getting s5 until 2026 (probably) I'm no longer emotionally strong enough for this.

So. Hazbin Hotel. Positive post about me finally watching the pilot below, hidden for those who don't vibe with that for various reasons. (Valid)
It's been at the periphery of my radar since I had my old tumblr account (deactivated in early 2020), but I never found out much about it other than the basic "Hotel for redeeming sinners". I didn't even realize Charlie was Lucifer's daughter until recently. What I ALSO didn't realize until recently was....we were still only on the pilot until this year???
I deadass thought the show had aired for a season or two, then Helluva got picked up, then the new eps were like...a new season returning after a long hiatus. I did NOT realize this show got so popular on the pilot alone! (I mean Helluva probably helped too, by association but still.)
After watching the pilot though? I can see why it blew up and stayed in people's minds for years.
What prompted me to watch it after all this time? Alastor. More specifically, finally hearing his voice and realizing he has a old-timey radio filter on. Which I didn't realize was a thing I specifically enjoyed. (I usually associate that with robots, which are one of my greatest loves, and I honestly never thought about the possibility of a non-robot character having a voice like that.)
I'm really excited to watch the rest now (let's see if this statement ages like milk but from what I've seen on my dash of late I'm optimistic) because this is the kind of thing adult animation needs SO MUCH MORE OF. Like, okay, you don't have to like Hazbin or Helluva EXACTLY but can we at least admit that we need more adult animation with actual budget/effort that aren't in that Typical Adult Cartoon art style that's so ubiquitous right now? And with MUSICAL NUMBERS??? Okay that second one may be more divisive but PLENTY OF BOTH PLS???
(Offhand I genuinely can't think of any adult animated series that fit this description other than maybe some anime but I'm sure there are some I'm not aware of so apologies, I meant no disrespect to any of them. There are some like...teen-targeted shows of course, and shows that adults can and should watch, but not like...adult-adult. Again, that I know of, but I'm horrible at discovering new things despite apparently wanting new things so eh.)

Why is it so hard for people to believe that other people have different preferences in life? I know I’m very ace but I’ve met allos who’ve told me they believe they can have a satisfying romantic relationship without sex, and yet other allos insist that sexual intimacy is 100% important for a relationship and that any allo who says otherwise is in an unhealthy relationship like… can we just acknowledge that relationships don’t always follow a particular formula? People do what suits them best and just because it’s different for YOU doesn’t mean you can determine what is and isn’t healthy for someone else if they’re both happy and content with the way their relationship works

So fucking pissed at people who say that hyperspecific labels “make the queer community look bad” or “is just pure attention seeking”, NO MF I JUST LIKE HAVING A NAME FOR THINGS I FEEL.
Like, my situation with gender is so fucking complicated that having a person coin something such as “dazegender” was so good to me, and I still have a complicated relationship with gender !! I’m so glad for whoever coined the term “Omnisexual/romantic” because it would've been a living nightmare to do mental gymnastics to feel like I fitted pan or bi.
“But those are spectrums” do people treat them as such ? Do they really ? Plus it's just difficult to my head to grasp the concept of “spectrum” it either is or is not, that's how my brain works personally. (My brain needs to be able to name things, basically. And also to know exactly what to do, if we're talking about chores, per say).
In today's generation so many people (me included) just find it SO HARD to put their feelings into words that it is genuinely a blessing to have labels that can label what we feel so precisely (to us, at least), “but you're overcomplicating something that should be simple” feelings are so far from being simple, honestly, and what is simple to you may not be to me, and that's okay, just don't call me attention seeking or whatever.
Also, also !! Hyperspecific labels/flags just make me (at least) feel more validated, since it makes it clear to me that I'm not alone in the way I feel and it kinda validates me (in a good way) :] And it's the Queer Community after all, so I think it's past the time we start actually acting like that.

I was messing around to loosen the old inking muscles and I am now speechless.

if there is one thing i wish more people understood it is the fact that just because i do not understand something does not mean that i am automatically opposed to it. there are many things that i do not understand for example alloromanticism, the workings and practices of many organized religions, and the existence of white chocolate but that doesn't mean i want to scrub their existence from this earth. i love knowing and comprehending things but theres also some things that i simply cannot understand right now for some reason or another and thats okay. humans are weird, varied, and complex! i'm not the judge jury and executioner of the entire universe and i am very glad i'm not! and anyways imagine how fucking boring knowing everything would be
