Question: I noticed if you had a choice you'd have given Thornclaw Ashfur's evil arc (except without the incel motivation.) And made Ashfur not evil. May I ask why? Is it from the characterization Ashfur had in TPB?

Reason 1: I think Thornclaw's underlooked as an AU villain

The DELICIOUS irony of the very first warrior Firestar names becoming his family's worst enemy... The contrast between the xenophobic and prickly Thornclaw and his kindly brother Brackenfur, both of them well-known as reliable and responsible warriors. Being stolen by ShadowClan at such a young age and having his father killed in a violent attack, and yet still, concluding that that's the right path.

It's about how Thornclaw could become so committed to the "well being" of ThunderClan that he'll kill and murder for it. The seriousness in his eyes as he hunts you down, the honor of a true warrior without need for underhanded tactics. Nothing about him is a joke, this isn't funny.

The Fire Scene, with Villain Thornclaw, isn't about 'getting back at Squirrelflight.' It's nothing personal; but she has to die along with her whole family so he can get away with it.

It's something I'm so fond of that I do have some Villain Thornclaw in my AU, if you look closely. He's working with Breezepelt and Whiskernose to kill Firestar. He might have known about the plot to get Brackenfur killed and said nothing.

Spiderleg takes his roles post-OotS because he will be dying in the Great Battle.

Reason 2: Shallow childhood fondness of pre-Po3 Ashfur

An AU is an AU, after all. Sometimes I just like to feed the miffed 10-year-old inside of me whose favorite TPB apprentice was Ashpaw, lmao.

Because MAN when I was a kid, I loved Squilf, and haaaated the Fire Scene with villain Ashfur. I remember it happening and being like, "ASHPAW WOULD NEVER. Ashpaw was Cloudpaw's best friend and always helping him cover up secrets :((( he wouldn't DO THIS who is this man... lionblaze was his apprentice.... this is so fake....."

I never had an Ashfur Stan phase, I was just mad that he turned into that lmao.

I love Ashfur now though btw, I am actually very fond of WC's incel villain and I'm really glad they committed to the idea of StarClan making a mistake. I think it's worth what Little Baby Bones lost... that said, sometimes you can just do stuff because it's fun and sparks joy, y'know?

It's why I call that AU "Sweet Nothings," I don't put a lot of thought into the thematic and metatextual implications of it like I do for the Bonefall Rewrite. It's self-indulgent fun.

So instead of being an incel, he's just a petty drama queen who's upset he got rejected and whines about it, not a murderous monster. He's ride-or-die when it comes down to it, and likes to gossip with Ferncloud and Cloudtail. A characterization a lot closer to TPB Ashpaw instead of Po3 Ashfur.

Also he's in a polycule with Hawkfrost/star and Reedwhisker because I like the drama of Hawkash but also have a big soft spot for Hawkreed.

so after scourge gives ruby and socks food and were banished from bloodclan territory they stooped so low that they joined thunderclan. they arent warriors, really, they just hang around camp and help around once in a while. lion took a very quick liking to them and started hanging around them.

ruby wasnt so fond of him at first (too peppy and nice, she said) but eventually allowed him to breathe the same air she did. cats genuinely dont know HOW exactly they became mates, all they know is that they had their wedding in a shitty old McDonalds and that Ruby still sleeps out in the open instead of the VERY nice den Lionheart built for her

Icecloud x Non-binary hollyleaf hypokits?

Warriors Ship Hypokits- Nonbinary!HollyxIce Edition

Tw for slight mention of gender dysphoria and Hollyleaf is referred to as female for one line at the beginning. The story ends happily and the misgendering is due to Holly not knowing that they are trans at the time, but I'm placing this warning here just in case

In this AU, Hollyleaf grows up feeling as if something is fundamentally wrong with them. They don't fit in with the other mollies in the Clan, but mistake this for just being an outsider, suspecting their mother Squirrelflight had them and their brothers with a cat from another Clan. They and Icepaw have a mutual crush on each other, but Holly is too focused on trying to figure out why they feel so uncomfortable (and thinks it’s because they are not entirely ThunderClan) so they put it on hold and remain friends. It's later revealed via the fire scene and a vengeful Ashfur that the three are half-clan and Leafpool's kits and Hollyleaf ends up fleeing into the tunnels. When Hollyleaf meets Fallen Leaves in the tunnels, he helps them realize that they are nonbinary and the two bond over it (FL is also trans). They encounter the abandoned fox-kit but the kit's mother never returns and Hollyleaf becomes a parent. When Hollyleaf returns to the Clans to kick Sol into oblivion, they do it alongside Tunnelkit (who is now pretty big and intimidating). They come out to their supportive community and finally confess to Icecloud they like her, with her happily reciprocating. Icecloud becomes Tunnelkit's (now Tunnelpaw) other parent, and she and Hollyleaf have three kits together with Lionblaze's assistance (four counting Tunnel), with Icecloud carrying:

Tunnelbite- large gray fox with brown eyes. Doesn't really care about gender, toric (nblm). They use he/she/they pronouns interchangeably. Named for the tunnels he was found in as a baby. ThunderClan was always pretty accepting to Tunnelbite as Hollyleaf's child (after a brief moment of terror because giant scary fox). She has a good grasp of cat speech due to being raised by them. He is very thoughtful and enjoys hunting with his family. Tunnelbite doesn't stay with ThunderClan for long after they grow up, deciding to seek out other foxes. They visit their parents and siblings from time to time, and eventually bring their own kits and their mate to meet their cat family. He helps the cats communicate with the foxes and come to a peace agreement to stop problems between them. She doesn't have a Clan Rank.

Fallenrain- dark-gray-and-white tom with green eyes. Cis tom, gay. Named for his loving ghost uncle Fallen Leaves. Fallenrain is a bit of a nervous wreck and has issues with interacting with other cats properly. He tries his best, but gets too wrapped up in his own thoughts. His only real friends are the spirits that he is able to see that no one else can. He struggles a lot in Clan life, ultimately deciding to become a kittypet and is renamed Henry by his Twolegs. He enjoys being a kittypet much more than Clan life but does miss and worry about his family. Luckily, Henry is allowed to come visit them occasionally and enjoys catching up on the latest Clan gossip when he does. When he was a Warrior, he was a Scout.

Chervilthroat- very pale cream-and-gray tom with yellow eyes. Trans tom, omnisexual. Chervilthroat is a calm and gentle cat with a knack for making compromises and brokering peace. While he is actually an incredibly good fighter he prefers it only as a last resort. He tried to be a Medicine Cat for a while, but found that it just wasn't for him. His handsome appearance and kindly demeanor results in him being the object of affection for many cats in ThunderClan and outside of it, but he himself is only interested in one cat, that being Ambermoon. When the two finally smooch there is equal amounts of rejoicing and jealousy. He is a Mediator.

Mistletoeheart- spiky-furred golden molly with green eyes. Trans molly, polyamorous lesbian. Mistletoeheart is a bouncy and energetic cat whose personality is as bright and eye-catching as her fur. She is a deeply loving cat who is a hopeless romantic. However it would seem that she looks for love in all the wrong places and falls way too fast for a healthy relationship. It takes a lot of failed relationships for her to learn, but once she does realize the issues in her approach she seeks to correct them. Once she does, she becomes a much better partner in the future. Despite her loving nature, she finds battles thrilling and fun and revels in them. She is a Brute.

Hollykit was always a daddy’s girl. She loved her mom, of course, but the brief stints where her father would swap with her mother to watch over them were her favorite times. It wasn’t uncommon, especially after a long time with their father being busy, for the warriors to wake up to find a fluffy black kit in the warriors den, cuddled up to a certain brown tom. They’d feign sleep and bite back snickers as Shrewleap and Hollykit would try to beat Squirrelflight awake the next morning and sneak back into the nursery. They never quite manage it.

Hollyleaf is a daddy’s girl in every AU. Sorry, I don’t make the rules XD I just thought it would be so heckin’ cute for Hollykit to sneak out of the nursery and climb in her dad’s nest in the warriors den. Shrew and Holly of course always try to sneak her back without Squirrel noticing, which never works lol Also yes, Shrew does alternate with Squirrel in taking care of the kids.

Lionblaze is SO MUCH MORE FUN WHEN HE'S A DUMB JOCK WHO HAS NO IDEA WHAT'S HAPPENING.

Lionpaw is the first one who goes to the forest to train with Tigerstar and Hawkfrost like in canon. Firefall swipes his son from them to keep him from being hurt and Lionpaw becomes attached to the strong ginger tom. Lionpaw pursuades his siblings to go to the forest to meet his new friends.

Lionpaw loves hanging out with his new dark forest buddies. He adores wrestling around with Owlwhisker, practicing WindClan fighting skills with Orchidtail and getting babied by Blossomfeather. And then of course there's training with Firefall who Jaypaw starts to notice looks a hell of a lot like his dumb brother...

Lionblaze is so excited when his name lines up with his dark forest mentor. How weird! Wonder where that came from? Jaypaw just like "omgdude he's our dad..."

Lionblaze is the last to accept it but he feels betrayed. This is the tom that helped him get together with Silverheart. Who helped harness his powers. He was hurt. But eventually he accepted it.

So basically Lionblaze is a big dumb baby jock who's the type of tom who will stub his toe and go cry to Blossomfeather and beg for cuddles but also could bench press a fuckin' tree.

Rosetail was outside, but she was an elder. If ShadowClan was attacking the nursery, they'd certainly spare no thought for an elder.

The kits cried. They didn't understand what was happening.

Outside, Frostfur watched Rosetail die.

"You stay," she said, and without giving Brindleface a chance to argue, she leapt out of the nursery.

"Blackfoot!" she hissed.

The ShadowClan deputy didn't respond, and Frostfur focused on avenging Rosetail.

And protecting her kits.

Battles weren't supposed to be like this.

They weren't supposed to end with Frostfur returning, blood still covering her, just to reassure them she was alright, only to stare in horror at their empty nest.

"He said he knows her," Cloudpaw said. "That she's his sister."

"That's what he told us," Brindleface said. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner. You shouldn't have had to find out from him."

Cloudpaw shifted. "Is it okay if I want to meet her?"

"Of course it is," she said, purring. Brindleface wrapped her tail around him — he'd be too big for that, soon, and she wanted to take advantage of every chance she had — and licked his head. "It's okay if you want to know her."

"I'm not mad at you," he said. "I just...I don't know."

Brindleface sighed. Sometimes, it was easy to forget that Fireheart wasn't Clanborne. But telling a kit they were born to another was the prerogative of the queen, no one else. She had intended on telling him, but not yet.

"It's okay not to know," she said. "I'll always be here for you."

Cloudpaw purred. "Maybe, one day, you two can meet," he said, hesitantly. "If she's nice."

"I'd like that," she said. "If that's what you want."

"I call this moon's meeting of the support group for Crowfeather's apprentices to order," Fernstripe said, her voicing bouncing off the walls of the tunnels.

"Say the full title," Heathertail said, flicking her tail.

"It's important," Featherpelt said. "It's part of it."

"I call this moon's meeting of the support group for Crowfeather's unreasonably attractive apprentices to order." Fernstripe's ears folded back. "I don't like calling us that."

Heathertail flicked her tail again. "And how many cats tried to talk to you at the last Gathering?"

Fernstripe looked at her claws.

"That's not fair, Heathertail. You're the only one who can count past four."

"If you have to count past four, you qualify as unreasonably attractive." Heathertail licked her paw. "The sooner you accept what you are, the sooner you can focus on the real mission."

"Killing Crowfeather?" Fernstripe perked up.

"Exactly." Heathertail touched her nose to Fernstripe's shoulder. "There she is. Now, let's go over everyone's attempts for the month."

She fights to keep her breathing slow, not wanting to wake him.

"Squirrelflight?" he whispers, and she flinches. "Squirrelflight, it's just me."

Yes, she thinks. That's the problem.

She extracts herself from him slowly, not wanting to look suspicious. His eyes are blinking awake slowly, and he's watching her.

"Where are you going?" he asks. "The sky is still dark."

"Just to the dirtplace," she says, and she slips out of their den.

Stormcloud is sitting vigil, and he doesn't question her when she slips out of the tunnel.

Squirrelflight tries to remember what happened. She had escaped him, hadn't she?

No, she was just in the Dark Forest. She's not there, anymore, she got out, with Bramblestar.

Squirrelflight closes her eyes, her heartbeat slowing. She slips back into their den. Bramblestar has already fallen back asleep, and she takes her place at his side, curling herself into the tightest ball she can.

i saw a face in the window of the house on high

Leafpaw was six moons old the first time she met a cat who wasn't Cinderpelt.

Cinderpelt cared for her in the quiet of their hollow, sweeping herbs out of her reach until she was old enough to understand.

She learned the scent of other cats by the prey she ate, but when she turned six moons, her introduction came time.

"There are so many of them," she whispered.

"I know," Cinderpelt said, her heart wincing. "You don't have to meet them all today," she said. "They just have to meet you."

She sat quietly by Cinderpelt as cat after cat came to greet them. Their names blurred, some appearances hanging to the names Cinderpelt had told her, but others fading.

"I greet you," said a ginger she-cat. "Cinderpelt, and Leafpaw."

"Well-met, Squirrelpaw," Cinderpelt said.

The apprentice dipped her head and left.

Jaypaw knows he is smaller than his siblings. It's hard to miss. He's not even as tall as Squirrelflight, and barely growing, and Hollypaw and Lionpaw have already surpassed her.

He tries not to let it get to him.

He stops growing first, only a paw's width taller than Squirrelflight. Hollypaw and Lionpaw become warriors, and his whiskers touch their shoulders.

It doesn't bother him like it used to. Hollyleaf and Lionblaze are warriors, and he's just a medicine cat's apprentice, too blind and too helpless to bother teaching to fight properly. He's no longer a part of their life, not in the same way. They don't play fight with him any more, they don't talk to him when they're squabbling over Cinderheart, and he wonders if it will always be this way.

If he will always be Jaypaw, their weaker, smaller, blind baby brother who they need to protect.

(He isn't. He becomes Jayfeather, and Hollyleaf dies, and Lionblaze stops talking to him. He keeps himself up as long as he can, because if he sleeps, it's only going to be worse, giving him a face to curse for granting his wish.)

Palebird was a tunneler.

That meant she built something permanent, something the Clan would rely on for seasons upon seasons, long after Palebird herself had passed on.

You could feel the life of the Clan in the tunnels. It was something the moor runners would never understand, what it meant to build something, to create something.

WindClan has barely any dens on the surface, and their camp had changed locations more than once. A warrior with no appreciation of the tunnels did not understand what it meant to last.

But Palebird did. As did her mother and father, and their parents before them, and so would Palebird's kits.

They would know what it meant to last in a world constantly pushing them forward.

"Congratulations," Crookedjaw said as the sun rose.

Willowbreeze purred. "You woke up at dawn just to break my vigil?"

"Maybe," he said. "But I made you a nest. Come sleep."

She stood, arching her back, and brushing against him as she walked towards his den.

"Well," Crookedjaw said. "As long as you don't mind sleeping next to me."

Willowbreeze laughed. "Let's go sleep."

ok so to me, i dont really like like,,,,, warriors human aus where it’s a “tribal au” (many people have said  before that they’re uncomfortable bc these aus are handled in a p racist manner) or a “gang au” (gangs shouldnt be romanticized), like to me i just love human aus where they all kind of live in separate regions depending on their personal interests that happen to align w/ canon (ex. riverclan cats would live in a harbor/seaside town area etc)

but YES there’s definitely tattoos bc holy shit tattoo headcanons are some of my FAVES lemme just name some

darkstripe: darkstripe def has lots of tattoos like. everywhere. like down the arms and up the neck, he’s SUPER inked up. he mostly has artsy tattoos like big colorful flowers and cartoon characters n shit but some old grungy ones like weird skulls n shit like that

tigerstar: def has only a few bc he’s actually a big baby, but i love the idea of him having like,,, a bicep sleeve o tiger stripes just to align w/ his name and all it’s CUTE

cinderpelt: for some reason i can see cinderpelt having like huge ass flower tattoos on her shoulder and thigh idk why but i just can

jayfeather: he’s tattooed up too surprisngly, like he’s a flamboyant tattoo gay. he thinks they’re artsy bc lionblaze pics them out and he just has these big flowers on him and he’s like “whatever i live for the pain that comes with art”

goldenflower, lionheart, bramblestar, tawnypelt (and the whole family line basically): DEFINITELY tattooed up. i hc that human lionheart & goldenflower are polynesian (native hawaiian specifically) and tattoos are a huge part of their culture. lionheart is definitely very tattooed bc he’s accomplished a lot in his life, and goldenflower is the same bc she’s gotten them for her children, her brothers passing, etc. tawnypelt has even more than her mother bc she really enjoys sharing her mothers culture, bramblestar has less than his sister bc he’s a baby when it comes to pain, but he’s got some too

In the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit

Many thanks to @mallowstep not only for inspiring many, many aspects of the Baby Brother Lionblaze AU with his own fantastic Human Misty AU, but also for giving me the prompt that led me to write this whole thing. If anyone has any more requests or questions feel free to send them in. I’d like to work more on this, and other AUs I’ve written about in blog posts here, in between our work together with the exile AU.

Jayfeather climbed onto the back of the car and Hollyleaf drove them away. Talking it all through with Leafpool had taken them most of the day and neither of them knew yet what to think of it all. It had been a rough time for everyone ever since the arson, but at least this loose end they could say they were making progress on tying up. The car ride back to the apartment they were renting while they sorted out their new house was silent.

"Oh, hello!" called Squirrelflight as they entered, her tone chipper as always, almost as if nothing had happened. Neither realized she'd be out of the hospital today. "Want to come meet your little siblings?"

"Sure," Jayfeather replied in a tired voice as he made his way to the space in the couch where his mother sat. He guessed Hollyleaf must've shook her head, as he heard her footsteps going in the direction of her room instead.

"His name is Alderkit," she said as she handed him the bundle to hold. "And his sister is Sparkkit."

Being in there, holding his little brother in his arms, Jayfeather let himself feel at peace for the first time in a long while.

Jaypaw was suddenly jerked away from dreamless sleep as he felt himself hover above his own body. Had he been able to he would've groaned. He hated it whenever his sleep would be interrupted in the middle of the night for this. At the very least he'd learned to tune out that sensory overload from feeling like everything in his room was up close and within his touch.

He lingered there for a moment, his body feeling limp and unresponsive. And then a sensation of warmth washed over him. He heard a booming voice call his name, the kind of voice that would say "Be not afraid!" Jaypaw wanted to put his hands to his ears badly, but he still lay there, limp, floating, feeling the texture and shape of every object in his room as if it was right to his hands.

Jaypaw woke up hyperventilating. Cursing under his breath at the experience, he went back to sleep. When would God get the message that he didn't want anything to do with him?

"I think Sparkkit's hungry!" Jayfeather called out as she heard her wake up with a cry. And sure enough as Squirrelflight came to her, it was indeed that. Over time he'd gotten a hang of what each of their cries meant. He surprised even himself from time to time with how much accuracy he could diagnose the problem just from paying a little extra attention.

Now that Hollyleaf had returned to campus, he didn't have much to do to pass the time other than studying. The babies were good companions, at least for now. Most afternoons he could just sit with them as they slept away, and with Squirrelflight still within reach, whatever came up could be swiftly resolved.

For a moment, he tried to remember what Lionpaw had been like this young. A surge of affection grew within him as he let himself reminisce, remembering the sheer joy he and Hollyleaf had experienced from the moment they first got the news. That night, he pulled Lionpaw into a hug, for a moment letting himself forget that terrible night.

Every Sunday, the same words, the same songs, the same stand up-sit down-stand back up routine. It grated on Jaypaw more and more each time they repeated it and he wondered what kind of narcissist would need this many sycophants. Why did everyone even keep praising that guy? In his opinion, he'd done a shit job with the world. And he had the audacity to keep demanding obedience from them? It was that part that got on his nerves the most.

If Alderkit proved to keep being this difficult, Jayfeather couldn't imagine lasting very long before he tore out all his hair in frustration. They were running out of ideas for what his issue could be pretty quickly, and it didn't help that he'd been up for God knows how long. Would he even have been able to interpret his cries had he been well-rested?

And the worst part of their temporary accommodations was just how no one was safe from the noise. It'd gotten to the point where the best they could try was just to keep rocking him in hopes he would calm down eventually. Brambleclaw, Lionpaw, and himself were gathered on the couch, waiting with heavy drooping eyes as Squirrelflight took charge.

The moment Alderkit shut up, Jayfeather basically dropped to sleep right where he sat. At least he'd learned now, those two couldn't be calm forever. In the morning he woke up with a blanket draped over him. He gave a loud yawn and before he began with his morning routine he took a moment to visit Alderkit at his baby basket, where he mercifully still lay sleeping like a rock.

"Are you sure you're not coming?" Hollypaw asked, her voice filled with hurt. They'd made a stop at their aunt Leafpool's house to pick her up and drop him off with Mothwing.

"I'm sure," Jaypaw replied, a thorn stabbing through his heart. He and Hollypaw had always done everything together but this was just one thing he couldn't do.

"You're not getting confirmed with me," she reminded him as if he didn't know. Her tone was turning into more of a plea, more of a sob. "Please, don't you want to be there for me?"

The no that he wanted to say to her got stuck in his throat and she reached a hand to his own, holding it with a shaky grip. The guilt that raced through his mind was immense and in that moment he wanted against all his wishes to say yes. He wanted to do anything to stop her sister from feeling bad.

"Hollypaw," came Brambleclaw's voice just in time to save him from saying something he'd regret. "Your brother has every right to not want to go."

Defeated, she let go of him, and he went into the house with his aunt. At least he'd have company as the feeling of guilt kept swirling inside him.

"You don't have to come inside if you don't want to," Hollyleaf reassured him as the rest of his family exited the car.

"I want to be there for them," he told her.

"It's their baptism, they won't remember," she replied. "I know how much it bothers you. Seriously, it's fine."

Jayfeather sighed. "It's at least in part about them, and I want to be in there for that part."

"If you say so."

They walked together to the reserved pew in the front row and they took their seats. Jayfeather remained at the edge of it while she sat right besides Lionblaze closer to the aisle. He shifted around in his seat a little as he remembered the familiar texture of the furniture, the smell that was soon to be drowned by the fragrance of incense, the chatter that would soon be replaced by the same collection of sycophantic hymns. It made him sick to his stomach to think he'd agreed to this, but he'd endure it.

He felt someone sitting to his right, laying her hand on top of his which rested on top of his leg. He could recognize that touch anywhere: his aunt Mothwing had picked a place just besides him. He took her hand into his own, and took a few deep breaths, grateful for the silent support.

It was agonizing sitting through a whole service, but at least he could focus on Mothwing's touch whenever it was just the routine words and not an addition for the baptism. And though she did stand most of the time as she was supposed to, when the congregation stood to recite the baptismal vows, she remained seated in solidarity with him.

Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight took their seats after the prayer for peace, and Jayfeather slipped away to wait out the Eucharist and the final blessings. As he slumped on the back seat of the ca, he felt the sickness from before fade away, replaced by a warmth he didn't realize was there before. He lingered on it, letting a smile creep on his face. If only for this moment, it'd been worth it.

"Jayfeather?" Alderpaw asks, standing at the entrance to the kitchen. His older brother is preparing to cook breakfast for himself and Sparkpaw; he and his parents will eat on their way back from the Sunday service.

"Yes?" he calls back, closing the fridge door as he pulls out a milk carton.

"Do you believe in God?" he shyly mutters out, swallowing back the knot on his throat.

"Of course I do," he replies non-chalant as he continues going about his routine.

Alderpaw shifts about, unsure of where to go next. "Do you only stay back because of Sparkpaw then?"

"No," he replies, raising his head towards the approximate direction of his younger brother. "I don't see why I should go there once a week, do that whole song and dance, beg forgiveness from such a-" Whatever he was about to say, he bites back. "I don't get along well with God."

"But aren't you afraid?" Alderpaw asks.

"Of Hell?" Jayfeather asks, his voice almost incredulous. "If I go there it'll be my own choice. Getting tortured for all eternity will just prove my point, really."

Alderheart stays silent for a moment, still shifting about as Jayfeather resumes his cooking. He is unsure if he should say something more and just as he's about to speak up again, his brother says takes the initiative, "Are you beginning to doubt?"

"Yes," Alderpaw admits, releasing the tension building up in his throat.

"Hollyleaf doesn't believe, she'd be better to talk to about this stuff," he replies simply.

"But she goes to church with us whenever she's visiting," Alderpaw protests, his voice rising in surprise.

"I don't know what she sees in it either," Jayfeather replies. "But it goes to show it's not an all or nothing." Once again he turns away from his cooking and faces his brother. "You have your whole life to figure it out. Don't rush into it."

"Alderpaw! We're leaving!" calls out Squirrelflight from the front door.

"I'm coming!" he replies. "Thank you."

"You're welcome," Jayfeather says back to him as Alderpaw turns around to leave.

The specifics don't matter, but Heathertail is definitely under pressure to be presentable while under his watch.

Her relationship with Lionpaw was a very mild act of rebellion that she felt very silly about with how seriously he was taking it towards the end of high school. That's how she ends up breaking up with him and you know how that ends working out. But that relationship is a seed of what'll come later.

So she goes off to college to study whatever the heck Onestar has pressured her into pursuing, and with her newfound freedom she begins flirting with rebellion again. But sheltered girl is sheltered and has no idea where to even begin.

Thus one day she comes across a motorcycle repair shop with one very handsome mechanic working there.

As it turns out, Breezepelt was having his own rebellion against Crowfeather. I don't know the specifics of it. Perhaps he ran from home. Perhaps he dropped out of the same college Heathertail's attending and just settled down there. Perhaps it's something else entirely.

She begins to chat up with him and they hit it off pretty well. The fact they come from the same hometown means they have a lot they relate on right away. And he's not afraid to trash talk her father which is a great plus.

Breezepelt ends up being very instrumental in helping Heathertail figure out herself and the friendship blossoms into a romance. Breeze can surprisingly be quite the romantic when he tries and she adores it.

He's there back on their hometown mostly to support her on sticking it to Onestar. If asked though, he'll say it was to have a chance of giving Crowfeather the finger.

(He also wants to see Nightcloud again, maybe apologize if he did run away from home. He absolutely adores his mom and loathes his dad. He knows they're extremely unhappy together and he'd do whatever it takes to help her out if she asked.)

Breezepelt absolutely loathes being called Breezie but he allows her one a day. It's the best compromise he can manage.

Everyone is in complete ignorance about it. Heathertail wasn't expecting him to invite his siblings, which she of course knows about, and Breezepelt would recognize just from description alone. (Ignore Heathertail's surprise at them being twins, she might've thought they were different ages or something.) But last he's heard of Lionblaze was when he was a tiny baby. How the hell's he going to guess that this Lionblaze is that Lionkit? There are possibly dozens of Lionkits running around! Even if Heathertail showed him a photo or something he wouldn't immediately assume this is that Lionkit. Lionblaze just sticks out like a sore thumb among his siblings, so he might not immediately assume he's related to the Hollypaw and Jaypaw he knew. Specially since as far as anyone knew, all three of them were biologically Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight's.

A Chance Reunion

Hey, was that you I saw outside our old high school earlier today?

Lionblaze hadn't thought about Heathertail all that much ever since that night. Well, that was a lie, but he didn't really think about her so much as how she broke up with him at the worst possible time. Getting that text, he couldn't help but wonder if they had any hope of being together.

Yeah, I'm in town for a bit

What's up?

He kept his hopes low, but he wouldn't lie to himself getting that piece of his former life back would feel pretty good.

My boyfriend and I were gonna go bowling with this coupon we have that's about to expire

Well, that shoots that down. Lion shifted around, on the couch, considering whether or not he actually wanted to go. The day was a bit inconvenient, but she did say 5 people...

"Jay, Holly!" he called and the two of them turned to him from across the dining room. "You two mind if we spend our day together with a friend of mine? She's just invited me to go bowling with her boyfriend."

"Where?" Jayfeather asked. Quickly, Lionblaze texted Heathertail and got an answer.

"We went there for your 15th birthday, right?" Hollyleaf mused. "I don't particularly mind, would you have a problem, Jay?"

"The food there wasn't that bad," he agreed. "And they have a guide rail. Tell your friend we're in."

Did you invite anyone else yet?

He probably should've asked earlier now that he thought about it.

No, you're the first person in my contacts list who's actually still around, hahaha

Well, that stung.

There was a tense moment as she took longer than before to reply.

Lionblaze parked the car a short distance from the entrance, where Heathertail and her boyfriend were waiting. As Jayfeather exited from the back, Hollyleaf pulled him to her side and whispered something to him. Perhaps his apprehension towards that boyfriend of hers hadn't just been his jealousy after all...

"Lionblaze!" Heathertail greeted him, going up to hug him. "I'm so glad to see you! You look exactly like I remember you."

She had. Noticeably. She seemed to have assimilated into her boyfriend's fashion sense, with their leather jackets and band t-shirts and the way that she died her beautiful blonde hair a darker color. He returned the hug, and he was glad that they were on good enough terms to do this. If her boyfriend minded, he didn't show much. For whatever reason he was eyeing his siblings instead.

"You wouldn't happen to be twins, would you? Prefixes Jay and Holly?" Though that first one was not the hardest thing to guess, right away that second one had Lionblaze wondering what history they could possibly have together.

Hollyleaf nodded. "My name's Hollyleaf."

"And I'm her twin brother Jayfeather," his brother continued, clearly uncomfortable as he squeezed on his left arm with his right hand. "I never thought you'd sound like that, Breezepaw. Hollyleaf told me you looked familiar so that shouldn't be much of a surprise."

"It's Breezepelt," he clarified. "Breezepelt, son of Nightcloud. If you dare call me son of Crowfeather I'm going to make you regret it."

"Oh, so you're twins?" Heathertail asked as she broke the hug and came back to Breezepelt's side. "If I didn't know better I would have guessed Breezie and you were the twins instead."

She had a point. The same slick, messy, black hair. The same lanky build. The same sharp features. They even were among the same height. Jayfeather squeezed on his arm harder, balling up his remaining free hand into a fist. Breezepelt just eyed him and scoffed. "And here I thought I was free of this. How did you meet these two?"

"They're my elder siblings," Lionblaze replied.

"Oh, so you're the famous Lionkit!" Breezepelt exclaimed. "Those two couldn't shut up about you back in the day."

"It's Lionblaze," he introduced himself.

The group kept chatting, though Jayfeather and Hollyleaf hung back for most of it and soon they moved to the inside of the bowling alley. That Crowfeather name, something about it rang in his mind. And he didn't know if it was something he had any intention of wanting to remember more.

"I never thought I'd come out of this hating my own fucking name," Jayfeather said with an exasperated sigh as he crawled onto the back seat after a long afternoon playing.

"Welcome to the club," Hollyleaf called from the passenger seat as she fastened her seatbelt.

Lionblaze couldn't say he didn't relate. His mom really should've vetoed his choice of suffix after what happened to their house. But there was something he felt he was missing. A piece of the puzzle that was crucial in knowing how it'd all gone down like that. "Who's that Breezepelt guy to you? Seems there's more than just an annoying kindergarten classmate."

Hollyleaf drew in a deep breath. "His father, Crowfeather, he's our-"

"The sperm donor," Jayfeather interjected from his position in the backseat.

"Oh." Lionblaze went silent as he drove out of that parking lot. He knew he'd heard that name, but just like the truth of Leafpool being their mother most days he just wanted to forget. "Mom sure messed up letting us pick our own names."

"Yeah," Hollyleaf agreed.

"She knew, she at least could've told us to pick something else," Jayfeather complained. "I may not have gotten my dream name but at least that asshole wouldn't have had a chance to taint it."

For a moment Lionblaze wondered, how would it have felt if they were Jayclaw and Hollyflight?

OK QUESTION is needletail in bb brother lionblaze au because i want her to be

Ok, so as we all (should) know, I've only read through The Apprentice's Quest so far so I can't come out with something fully formed to involve her, BUT! I quite like the idea of having her be the subtle bad influence friend of Spark and Alder that Jayfeather disapproves of. Expect lots of him grumbling to them about their bad choice of friend, and specially Alder because lowkey Jayfeather expected better of him in particular.
