Ooo, could you do a paranormal based horror stimboard? Something with like, spirit boards or amateur ghost hunting equipment maybe?
I would if I could! unfortunately, I'm not finding enough good spirit board/ghost-hunting gifs (though there are a lot of very sparkly resin planchettes). I also don't know where to turn to make my own, apart from maybe the youtube channel glam & gore (which recently returned from a long hiatus).
hopefully you can find someone else to fulfill this request for you! sorry I can't do it myself, but you're free to send me other requests! surely there will be something I can do for you. thank you for the ask, and have a spooky day!

what kinds of gestures would theo appreciate the most? it seems like he's generally uncomfortable by expressions of affection (physically especially) and it would be neat to know what would actually make him feel happy. perhaps little gifts and such? would he keep said gifts? so many thoughts about this Strange man
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I thought of some other common ways people demonstrate affection and make friends besides physical touch: kind words, gift-giving, acts of service… all to try to show that Theo is a dire prick.
Theo is an intractable misanthrope - miserable, spiteful and prone to seemingly random acts of aggression. He is deeply uncomfortable with other people, and if he can't keep them at arm's length, he goes for the throat (or, at least, snaps at their ankles with petty jabs and demeaning remarks).
I think I have erred in mostly drawing his Amaranthine self with his mother or Hyden, two people he greatly admires and devotes himself to. Frankly, Theo does not appreciate affectionate gestures (or any interaction) from anyone besides his chosen person(s). He doesn't trust such gestures, he doesn't really want them, and he feels a certain bitter satisfaction in throwing kindness back in people's faces.
Being kind to him might keep him from being as hostile as he would be to someone unkind, but that's not a guarantee. He often sees kindness as manipulative, condescending, self-righteous or just plain stupid. He may be increasingly cruel to someone of a gentle disposition just to see how much they can take before they snap back and show their "true colors", vindicating his initial dislike of them. Trying to bond with him is almost as likely to earn his ire as antagonizing him. All that to say... I wouldn't waste gifts on him if I were you.
(Now, obviously, he is capable of bonding with people, but it takes some very rare and particular qualities and circumstances. If someone is one of his chosen few, he does appreciate gifts - and keeps them forever - and he may be grateful for flattering words, and maybe he will even tolerate being touched, but he doesn't demand or expect much in the way of affection. Being trusted and relied upon is often enough for him to feel fulfilled in companionship. BUT I've prattled on enough for now, don't you think?)

technically a vampire question but not really:
should I write victorian era vampire au fanfiction, is there any advice you would have for writing such a setting/any resources for immersing myself in such a setting? (rlly i just want to feed my brainworms, sorry if I’m being imposing lol.)
dracula takes place during the victorian era so i would absolutely recommend that!! as for general victorian knowledge all i have is based on the horrible histories "vile victorian" segments lmao. other than that, id say u could just do a bit of research on anything that pertains to ur plot, and there are a lot of accounts of victorian vampires and vampire panics :] mercy brown was a very popular case of supposed vampirism from the victorian era (though she lived in america, not sure where your story takes place but id assume england if ur talking about the victorian era? either way the case of mercy brown is interesting id say its worth learning about)
thats about as much as i can help with the victorian era, sorry! if u have any questions about the nature of vampirism ur portraying in ur story let me know :]

Idk if anyone here has expressed something similar before, but I like the idea of Evelyn simply not… caring that Caleb is a witch hunter. And she’s not really concerned about the hangings either. She knows these aren’t real witches. In fact, she finds those nights with the whole mob get their pitchforks and fires quite fascinating. Is it some sort of ritual? A ceremonial sacrifice? A cultural thing? Who knows, but witches have similar antics back home (some villages it was socially acceptable to eat babies), who is she to judge?
It was Caleb who took the initiative to change. He saw people he trusted and maybe even loved be accused and be meet with a horrid fate. He thought I know they didn’t deserve that, if they were even witches at all. And then he met Evelyn and realized that there were no witches on Earth. And that was the final confirmation that he needed to realize that he didn’t want a part in this at all.

https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/hamas-islamic-jihad-reject-giving-up-power-return-permanent-ceasefire-egyptian-2023-12-25/
Hamas continues to reject the ceasefire process.
The demands for a ceasefire should be directed at Hamas with the same energy and fervor they're directed at Israel.
i dont think a single dictatorship in the world and not even netanyahu’s govt or ppl like trump or a lot of the governments in power would accept a deal like “you can have a permanent ceasefire as long as you give up your leadership”.

pisses me off so much much that i’m not immune to people arguing about steven universe
#what is it about that g-dforsaken cartoon that makes my bones weep for blood#its like. the perfect combination of well intentioned progressive storytelling bungled themes antiblackness fandom culture and shipping bul#bullshit queer community physiology kids show and actually-good-except-all-the-bad-parts#anyways any defense of the show that starts with ‘lily orchard is full of shit huh’ immedialy into the trash you fucking go#not all criticism of the fucking thing stemmed from one annoying youtube skank. people have been hypercritical of SU since before that vide#was a glimmer in orchard’s eye - people have been making great and godawful points about it since steven fucking two#STEVEN TWO?!?#SEASON#like some points made against it ARE bullshit! but not all of them! and when real life seems to have spat out a few strawmen for yall to ar#argue against you’ll never make actual progress on the genuine fucking issues people have on it! its useless!#also it really irritates me that bc some people escalated criticisms of the diamonds to ‘su condones nazi redemption’ all responses to the#shows approach to justice just get countered with ‘but RS is jewish’.#like YEAH and actually her jewishness does inform the shows approach to justice abd punishment but that doesn’t make the end result GOOD#also judaism isn’t. spiritually speaking. 100% about reform and self-reflection rather than christian damnation barbarity or whatever#there is in fact harder edges to our shit its just unlikely steven universe would include WD getting hanged along with all her sons orchang#changing her mind at the last second because she hasn’t earned an uncomplicated admittance of fault and she sends and army after the#escaping stevenites only for said army to get drowned alive as the sea closes around them#lol#(or that it SHOULD have#imo while the diamonds did escape proper justice from just a tonal and like. thematic cohesion standpoint a violent execution of the#dictatorial class really would NOOOOT fit the show in any sense)

believe it or not but assigning morality to phones/phonemes isn’t the haha quirky little joke you think it is!
#like that has uh. a History!#elli rambles#there are definitely some Posts in the linguistics tag sometimes.#it definitely isn’t the most egregious example I’ve seen/heard and the op probably didn’t mean anything by it but. hm!#haha funny alignment chart. now quick tell me what you think about foreign languages. or the sapir-whorf hypothesis perhaps.#ok to take off my Silly Mask for a moment: what I’m getting at with those understatements is that assigning morality/any qualities really to#language has a bigoted—& more specifically: usually racist—history. language has often been used as a tool & justification for oppression.#take a look at the languages currently & historically deemed ‘pretty’ or ‘civilised’. compare that with the ones deemed ‘ugly’ or ‘barbaric’#who speaks them? exactly which features make them ‘worthy’ of those adjectives? is it only phonetics? if so: in what way exactly?#is the categorisation of sounds of speech as having certain inherent qualities truly objective—or do they happen to align with certain#cultural or personal biases? what purpose does this categorisation serve?#are a people deemed ‘barbaric’ because the language they speak is inherently & objectively barbaric—or is it perhaps the other way around?#could this type of view of a language possibly be used to justify the subjugation of its speakers under the guise of ‘civilising’ them?#Perhaps?#which is obviously not to say phonetic features are the only ones used to assign certain qualities to languages! but it was what the post#I’m referencing was about so#anyway sorry I went off on a tangent. I just feel quite strongly about this#languageposting

one more thing for the road: i find it very odd that ppl will draw this hard line about 'i'm not going to engage in ANY content from [x] transphobic author and if anyone else does then they're just not as principled as me and i'll mock them'.... and then continue to engage with content from, a different, but also transphobic, author.

I will maybe make a bigger post at some point about other characters’ dnd classes but. thought about it. kiryu would be a battlemaster fighter multiclassed into oath of vengeance paladin. end of statement
#as much as I can see barbarian in certain ways he’s not actually very… well barbaric. he certainly could have the rage aspects#and barbarian Can come with some strong moral codes/ideals/etc depending on the subclass#but I think all-around vengeance paladin matches better imo. the mix of tradition/straightforwardness with his personal strong morals/ideals#that often Result in attonement through violence in one way or another- and the fact that it’s an Oath. in his case not to a patron deity so#much as an intense code he’s imposed on himself. it just makes a lot of sense to me#battlemaster prior to fully developing that complex- straightforward but more adaptable than something like champion#based around techniques and manuevers picked up from training and just fighting wherever and whenever#and makes sense to me that he’d have second wind for sure#hm. I guess one way of putting it is there’s an inherent sense of self discipline that comes with paladin (exception of oathbreaker for#obvious reasons) and kiryu takes on that self discipline complex pretty hard probbbabbly after kiwami 1 or 2.#rambling#kiryu#I think saejima’s a good example of a barbarian (totem warrior specifically). he’s got ideals based in wisdom learned from the world around#him and lived experiences and etc. but it doesn’t feel like a code he has to abide by or a list of commandments for himself#I know I said I wasn’t gonna talk about other characters in this post but I just. have to mention. the other character im pretty solid on#is akiyama. who’d be a bard of whispers / drunken fist monk. which is a WILD and probably very fun to play combo#his charisma and dex would be insane. int and wis also very good. strength meh to bad. but by god his con would be atrocious#kiryu’s like the polar opposite almost. charisma atrocious. int/wis not good. strength and con insanely good. (dex pretty alright tho)#anyway I should stop

discovery channel will be like “on october 17 2013 someone recorded footage of a very disturbing, completely unprecedented impossible event which implies, without a doubt, supernatural connections and evidence of extraterrestrial life forms…. let’s hear from some experts about this super spooky, extremely unnatural floating object” and the experts say “so actually this is a weird type of cloud it happens sometimes” and discovery channel will say “tune in next time for a car making weird spooky noises…. we’re thinking it is probably a ghost”
#have trees in vietnam developed mutations to ruffle their bark in self defense? radiation and evolution!!!!#we talked to some experts and there were bees on the tree#(actual episode that was just on the TV. the cloud and the cars are both real too)#my roommate got a TV for $15 at goodwill we’ve used it for jackbox a couple times but mostly it’s just constantly on in the background#playing satellite TV channels usually discovery i’m gonna try to tune in to HGTV at the right time for cheap old houses though#anyway discovery channel feels like… analog clickbait?? i guess??#it’s just. so silly to me#anyway this is too long to be a sillygoofy textpost but it’s supposed to be….. so sorry brevity is just silencing my inner glow or something#shdhdf i just think it’s so silly and stupid. they spend half an hour on here are all the aliens and spooky things this could be#and the expert comes in and says this is a very normal and recognized scientific phenomenon with a full explanation and several known events#and the discovery channel guy says whoa that’s crazy well look at this spooky strange thing!!!!#bonus points when they’re looking at like. aztec civilization and they say For Some Strange Reason the people did this Barbaric Ritual#evidencing Spooky Aliens masquerading as Primal Gods and the Gullible Brown People Fell For It#and then person comes in and says yeah so this was agriculture and record keeping and innovation and empathy and art and advanced techniques#and the discovery channel says But Brown People They Can’t Do That It Was Aliens and then they dig up a sacred burial site#most of the episodes are just stupid and silly and entertaining (like the cloud) but a lot of them piss me off a lot#anyways!!!! i’m heading to bed cause i have my first day of classes in the morning!!#but my roommate just turned off the TV and it was so silly and contrived. i think not having access to satellite TV all my life is maybe not#the big awful issue i thought it was. i think i was maybe winning. i do like learning about the weird scientific phenomena though#but the way they bury it under hours of weird speculation about evil aliens spying on us and meddling in our lives…. makes it hard to handle#okay i’m heading to bed though shdhdf. hope everyone is doing well and goodnight!!#ask to tag (idk what for but there’s definitely something here somewhere)#me. my post. mine.#delete later

see the thing about anime and anime-adjacent things is that i have given up on expecting them to do good on character designs on south/west/southwest asian characters
#like yes of course the chinese game company pays very close attention to fantasy china#they also call themselves otakus so of course they pay close attention to fantasy japan#even though they failed at not sexualizing the women in either region#fantasy germany i cannot say anything abt bc i dont know shit about real life germany but#im pretty sure they didnt even really integrate german culture into mod#mond*#not in the way they did liyue and inazuma#all the sumeru quests that have something to do with the eremites are dogshit bc of course they are#the dark skinned people are viewed as barbaric and uncivilized and stupid even in-game#literally the only saving grace is that the akademiya is full of pretentious racist classist bastards anyway#i dont mind dark skinned characters being morally dubious#it becomes a problem when the only dark skinned character in genshin who is genuinely wholesome is xinyan#and shes not even part of the main story#kaeya is sidelined constantly#candace and cynos designs suck ass because why are the desert dwellers wearing extremely revealing clothing#dehya is.... fine. i guess her skin counts as pretty dark to a racist company#and i love nahida as a character but i still hate her fucking design#im pretty sure the light skinned characters in sumeru have lighter skin than the light skinned characters in other nations#u cant go too wrong with a european country i guess but fellow asians are too hard to respect properly#bc of the colourism. of course#not even arknights is safe from this shit and i generally think of ak as leagues better than most gacha games ive ever played#like yeah of course theres orientalism and sexualization and colourism and racism and classism#even when those things are contested within the story its like the artists and whatnot just do not give a fuck#sumeru is rich with lore and the way they integrated aranyaka was cool and the archon quest was so good too#but it really is just. so bad at the same time#so i just dont think abt it anymore. whatever man#if i want actual good rep for south/southwest/west asians i would watch shows made here#and play games made by fellow south/southwest/west asian people#not chinese or japanese companies
