i’m currently sitting on the edge of my seat in the garage watching the race with anxiety pumping through my veins. charles is currently in the lead as he got ahead of max when he pitted. im biting on my nails because i know how badly max needs to win this race since he DNF in australia.

i stay concentrated on the screen as max closes in the gap between him and charles. i feel my shoulders tense as they turn corners and max is right on charles’ tail.

coming up on the straight stretch, max finally gains enough speed to pass charles. “fuck yes! that’s my man!” i jump up from my chair and yell, pumping my fist in victory.

“he did it!” she yells and i smile, “he did. we’re both so proud of him.”

i watch as maxs’ car approaches us and parks in the 1st place slot. he climbs out of his car and stands on the top, throwing his fist in the air as the crowd roars for him.

i run over to his car as he hops down, his arms wide open for me as i jump into them. “maxie, you did it! i’m so proud of you!” i tell him as he spins me around, laughing through his helmet. he sets me down and takes his helmet and balaclava off, his cheeks are flushed red from the marks and heat from the balaclava but that doesn’t stop him from smiling so big.

“thank you, schat. you’re my number one supporter.” he grabs my face and tells me but i shake my head no, “i’m actually not. i think there’s some one else who is more of a fan than me.” i tell him and he looks at me confused but i turn and point over to the little girl as she waves at us both. max waves back at her with a smile on his face.

“she wanted me to give you this and tell you that she is very proud of you.” i say while putting the bracelet on his wrist. i can see his face soften at the kind act as he kisses me on the forehead and makes his way over to her.

with a smile on my face, i stand back and watch as the fans congratulate max and so does his team.

before i know it, im listening to the dutch anthem being played and watch as max, checo, and carlos spray eachother with the champagne.

i feel my insides turn as max looks up at with a smirk on his face as the champagne roles down his neck and face.

KEEP TALKING ABOUT THE SBI FIC THING IM REALLY INTERESTED!! I've always wanted to study that side of the fandom under a microscope but it's scary.

buddy that place is WILDDDD. ok so things you need to know abt sbi side

1. they're damn good writers

2. i don't think they know how to write fanfiction

3. in another universe they create some very well known, published authors

because essentially everything they write is so fucking detached the second it enters an au. with dnf and the general dt side of things, there are differences. sure often times it's a bit more identifiable as fanfiction but that's not a BAD thing. it literally just means people know how to write fanfiction which is what they were intending to do anyways so like hooray

with sbi, i've read SEVERAL (as in i can go into my bookmarks right now and count out at least 10) fics that have just changed and deviated so far from the original source material that it's hard to even understand what they're talking about. in that regard, 100% dnfers get caught out before sbiers, but that's only in the circumstance that they get published at all. sbiers are really creative -- TOO creative, obviously to the point of creation ocs with names and descriptions that often times only vaguely resemble phil, tommy, wilbur, and techno -- which gives them the upper hand publication wise.

that leads into dark sbi which, let it be known, i have NEVER EVER liked. i personally thought it was harsh and unenjoyable but also goddamn did they make some good stories. obviously i read them bc even though i hated the vampires and the kidnapping and shit, it was good. the upper hand of writing fanfiction is that shit is more fast paced and attention grabbing, due to the lack of exposition and shit. so sbiers likely get published first, get discovered on booktube (not booktok cause they only read romance that's packed with tropes to the point of dysfunction), and they at least semi-spread from there until someone is who can't handle any difficult topics in fiction gets upset. but that's a different kind of controversy entirely

sbiers are good authors but they're stuck in this weird limbo of "it's not fanfiction it's just inspired original content" which sort of creates a new genre entirely. they pull some good fanfiction elements into its own realm entirely and it's really frustrating when you want to read fanfiction of something but if you're looking for something fast paced and good to read that aligns with the weird fanon universe they've created, they're your subfandom.

a lot of fics also appeal to personal issues that people are able to project onto easily (i speak from experience) so, while dnf is typically shorter, more accurate, and lighthearted, sbi has dynamics that people often crave in their real life and more people that they can insert themselves into. um that sounds weird but ykwim

they also have The AU's which dnf has but it's just not to the extent that sbi has it. the trifecta:

1. superhero aus

2. royalty aus

3. foster care aus

ran that tag for a good 2 years minimum. those are the sort of Peter Parker Goes On A Field Trip To Stark Industries type of aus where you have a good baseline that people get attached to, so you can sort of rewrite the same story different enough that people feel like they're reading smth new each time. and it works!! if people were to publish an sbi fic (which would likely fall into one of those 3 categories), it'd be realllyyyyyy recognizable just bc it was such a staple in the community. ifl im missing some other big categories but those are just the aus that i remembered off the top of my head that showed up a fuckton

don't get me wrong, i ❤️ dnf fanfiction and you def could publish it if you tried hard enough, but those authors do shit right. the characterization is so niche and specific, the dynamics are so unique, and often times, there just isn't enough in one fic to build and create a story. so much of dnf fanfiction relies on the fact that you already know those two, you know who they are, how they behave, their stakes regarding each other, etc etc. with sbi, the authors end up essentially writing their own stories so much so that they have to tell the story like it's a novel rather than fanfiction. it's very interesting imo esp bc fanon tommy for example is so extremely, incomprehensibly different from c!tommy or cc!tommy, with only enough hits of similarity to keep you hooked into the story with the illusion that you're actually reading the same character, when more often then not, it's like 1/4 tommy, 1/4 fandom misinterpretation interpretation, 1/4 author projection, and 1/4 recycled oc. again, speaking from experience.

also, sbi authors are pretty cocky about their writing, and it's really noticeable when they write a fic with the intention of changing the names and couple minor details to submit to an editing company for a few rounds of revision before they publish their nyt bestseller a few years down the line. they didn't need to leave the fandom to abandon their shit. lorehead analysts have a decent grasp of their content (but i'm biased), but lorehead writers?? different monster entirely. the second dsmp stands for something like "delicious small mtown pforsuperherovillanvigilanteshenanigans" then you know they're too far gone. they're attached to THEIR characters, not the dsmp's; if it means sacrificing the original source material for real life recognition, they'd do it in a heartbeat. i don't blame them but the point still stands.

this is all over the place i'm so sorry idek if i said anything you wanted to know but

tl;dr sbi fanfiction sort of became its own medium between fanfiction and original work so they're more likely to get published, but they fall into the same dynamics in the same type of universes that would easily get them figured out. dnf writers just seem to mind their damn business more. anyway, most dnf writers that left the fandom seem to want to completely forget that they ever did That. usually they just orphan/delete and move on cause they're embarrassed.

sorry again i'm so not good at explaining my thoughts but i did NOT spend 2 1/2 years reading sbi fanfiction 24/7 for nothing. i need to put my experience to use somehow so thanks for letting me do that 😭😭😭

perhaps post monaco? esteban gets that podium. pierre goes to complain to charles who is knee deep in his own misery (3rd in qualifying to 6th in his home race etc vs pierre fuming in 7th) (please don’t come for me i wasn’t there i have no idea how that race went down beyond what wiki has to say)

so pierre’s like ugh. and hits up jack (who he has drunkenly hooked up with like . twice this season before. as one does) who is meanwhile like . went from fastest lap saturday to dnf-ing sunday… and idk pierre corners him somewhere. maybe they’re out at a club w alpine people celebrating. and starts talking his ears off like ugh esteban this ugh esteban that. and jack is stewing in his own stuff rn obviously. jack gets up to order shots (very “if i have to listen to this shit i’m getting blindingly drunk”) pierre follows him Still Complaining. and very clearly does not actually have all that much concrete to complain about. just vibes.

anyways they do shots together etc etc. jack is quite a bit in and just snaps at pierre. very “are you gonna talk about anything else tonight? i’m not ur personal punching bag” something along those lines u kno the vibe. and then leaves! and pierre is left standing there lookin like a fool. pierre orders another drink. drains it. goes outside to clear his head. phone lights up as he’s leaning against the exterior wall next to some people smoking w a text: “you can text me when punching mattresses gets old”

and then the fic ends w the ambiguity of if pierre gets over himself enough to go hook up w jack or if he goes back in and sits in the back of this club w a big ol dark cloud over his head

both of them i think, from the outside looking in, looked like they had such a strong season and i think both drivers were deserving the of the championship

Respectfully, I’d asks you to look at the season again bc if you look at the pure stats it is no comparison.

Max finished every race in either 1st or 2nd place, except for Hungary where Bottas went bowling and he still dragged half a car to points. Of the races he didn’t finish (Baku, Silverstone, Monza) only Monza can even be put on him in any way.

Lewis had his off races where he genuinely just didn’t make the podium (Monaco) or got saved by red flags (Imola) and FIA inconsistencies (Bahrain).

Max led over 50% of laps that season and the only reason he didn’t win before AD was his bad luck or Mercedes like of crashing into RedBulls two races in a row, whichever one you think is more fitting.

And before anyone comes at me, I’m not one for conspiracy theories - though this would be a good one bc Toto Wolff did say that they would need a Max DNF to get back in the game and suddenly the next race in Silverstone Lewis crashes Max out and the race after that Bottas goes bowling and in the span of two races Max‘s 34 points lead turns into a deficit.

So, people can disagree with me and call me biased but I don’t think they both deserved it equally.

Was feeling reallllllllly underwhelmed with all of my library e-books for the past 2 months. So, late last week after @fereldanwench mentioned the novel "There Is No Such Thing As An Easy Job" by Kikuko Tsumura, I checked my library and lo-and-behold they had a copy available IMMEDIATELY.

Normally I need to wait months for an ebook and when it arrives I either don't remember why I wanted to read it *or* I am too busy with other things so I play they delay game until the library gives up and decides I never wanted the requested book to begin with.

Despite receiving "There is no such thing..." immediately, I didn't have the time to begin reading until on an exceedingly long flight to a rather horrid destination. (And then sleepiness won out bc hooooboy, these red-eye flights are killing me).

Anyhow.

About halfway into the novel as of coffee time today and oh how delightful it is. This is the first novel I have enjoyed in a long while that has come from my local public library. And there was no wait!!! Immediately available!

And this gets me thinking about a number of things that will go behind a cut because...

Me complaining about how boredom-inducing most contemporary USian novels are is nothing new. That boredom goes back nearly two decades. Maybe more.

Me noting that I almost ONLY read fiction from non-USian authors is also nothing new. That resonance goes back decades.

But me coming to the realization that it is time for me to forever STOP trying out the latest hot new books from USian authors (who increasingly write fingernails-on-chalkboard screeeeeachy YA for 20somethings? Booktok? Idk man.) is now just The Rule.

Sometimes I make exceptions to that Rule and am filled with joy (NK Jemisin, I'm talking about you specifically) that sounds like books being omnomnomnomnomed at a furious speed.

The rest of the time it is just a trail of boredom and DNF or, worse.

...

The only reason I keep forcing myself to read what big US-based publishers are publishing from USian authors is because of the demonic Comparables list.

And now I am like fuck it. My comparables are one long list of non-USian authors, many (but not all) who don't even write in english to begin with.

My fucks left to give? Hell, I don't even bother counting. I have reached that state of mind where I am off in the elysian fields of artistic joy, and all that does not interest is literally dead to me.

Literally. Dead to me.

Does not compute.

Gone.

Memory erased.

And this is blissful joy.

basically c!dnf started the world together and they were friends and probably lovers and everything was good until tommy joined and started causing chaos and dream started becoming progressively more tyrannical to stop him and george stood by his side. then dream made george king and he was his loyal knight for a bit and that was nice until dream decided george would be safer if he wasn't king anymore because he had a target on his back bc of it so he dethroned him and george saw that as a betrayal so they had a falling out. and then dream continued to Get Worse until eventually he got sent to prison on purpose to try to unite the server by getting everyone to turn on him. meanwhile george is getting lost in dreamworld by sleeping all the time (to avoid his reality) and cant tell the difference between dreams and reality anymore over time. george never goes to visit dream in prison but we see him standing outside it longingly. eventually george stumbles upon dream one day who is apparently out of prison but he doesnt know how and dream asks him to destroy george's kingdom with him. george refuses and dream kills him. george decides that nothing matters anymore because dream has betrayed him so he decides to destroy the world and kill everyone. repeating that it's all because of dream. and then he does just that. killing dream, techno, q, karl, and then god himself. and then he wakes up. and that's rlly the last major time we see george. in the end we find out that dream's main motivation behind everything was wanting to go back to the simple times when it was him and george. he himself figures this out only moments before he dies and the world gets reset and they're all resurrected with no memories. that's the summary of c!dnf

hey guys guess who just went "oh its the 4th of july. that means that its july" here im going to talk about things i read/watched/played last month! i didnt read as much but did finish a couple books that ive had checked out Forever. ok actually i read a lot woops

books/comics/written media:

fake dates and mooncakes by sher lee: fake dating (obv) premise between a cooking boy and a rich heir! book that made me realized im honestly just not that interested in ya romance anymore LMFAO. pretty sweet and a decent read, but landed more heavily on the expository end of uhh i guess diaspora fiction? than i really prefer. i think i picked this up bc the author got mega cancelled on tyk twitter lol??

bird by bird by anne lammott: book about how to write. i love to read about how people do stuff :3 some of the advice applies pretty universally to creative efforts i think.. made me want to write more too

john dies at the end by jason pargin: DNF. comic/horror about this loser guy who discovers stuff. sigh i tried so hard to like this book its supposed to be pretty 'mecore'...talked about this with alena a bunch but its like hm... i know the sort of casual offensiveness sort of goes in hand with being poor and white and in the midwest and i appreciate how its like that creates its own doomed narrative or whatever. but also i feel like the protagonist would call me slurs or something. also the lowgrade but pervasive orientalism is kinda offputting. probably fun for some other guy! i did enjoy the horror elements though

the goldfinch by donna tartt: literary coming of age about a boys relationship with a painting (the goldfinch). also he flops a lot and its sort of homoerotic i guess? a movie was made of it. so something to note is that ive had this book out on loan since literally december. neil kept on being like hey man just stop reading it LMFAO. thoughts cp'ed from discord:

why does the goldfinch feel like a 600 page leadup to the actual book which is 800 pages

the bodyguard by katherine center: romance novel about a woman bodyguard who lives for her job. fresh from a breakup, shes given a new undercover assignment with a handsome actor, recently withdrawn from society. will they be able to break each others' shells....? my mom recommended this to me LMFAO we kind of have different tastes in romance.. ive read a book by this author before i think her platonic scenes are very strong? i wish there had been a couple more of those. also i like how she always includes a life affirming section at the end about how important it is for us to open ourselves up to love etc etc cute but not especially memorable

kiss quotient by helen hoang: (reread) a shy, autistic econometrician decides that she needs to get better at sex, and so hires an escort. helen hoang is one of my faavorite romance authors i really enjoyed this reread although i kinda forgot that both leads say, think and do some pretty embarrassing things. but you know a little embarrassment is endearing and all that.. i still prefer her other book (the bride test) but this one is pretty good too. vivid characters 👍

sisters of dorley hall by alyson greaves: web fiction - a trans woman infiltrates a secret force-feminization program. ok im just cp'ing my thoughts from discord again but i enjoyed it a lot:

my thoughts are that the first like, third? is really really good. it like idk takes the very real trans fears of like discovery and passing and all that and fictionalizes them a bit. but like its still grounded and swag. sooo tense once The Reveal happens n things w steph are pretty normal it gets kinda meandering? which i dont really mind bc i love interpersonal drama even if i miss how tense and scary it was. but also theres only like two major plot threads going on rn and theyre both pretty slowburn. a timeskip would probably benefit tbh like the point rn is kinda like. the 7 year meteor? yeah sorry

like it used to be sort of psychological thriller? and now its sort of more character focus and also surprisingly fluffy.. im surprised that the author has said they have a complete outline bc it doesnt feel very focused atm? but also like i suppose things are snowballing a bit re: revealing the sisters to the outside world

an unauthorized fan treatise by lauren james: a fangirl trying to prove her rpf ship is real uncovers a greater conspiracy. to me if something is able to capture a specific age/vibe from the internet its automatically pretty good. however more and more people are learning how to do that so maybe i should change my standards... i was never involved in All That re: rpf or even fandoms of live action shows until kamen rider? but like i definitely knew people in hs that were sort of like this LMFAO so it felt very familiar. i appreciate the author trying to make that $$ but i dont know if it really needs an expansion/sequel.. the ending is better off with some ambiguity imo

impossible us by sarah lotz: literary romance? a man and a woman fall in love online, but encounter difficulties when they try to meet. ok im just pasting my thoughts here again (spoilers btw):

ok that was a lot of stuff. onto movies/tv:

xo kitty: kitty goes to a school to connect with her online boyfriend, but all is not well. yall this was not good. i guess my standards shouldnt have been that high but to all the boys ive loved before was so cute!! (havent watched/read the others). but like.. the writing was bad and the main actress just wasnt very sympathetic or charming? characters waste time saying "i can explain" until time runs out for them to actually explain, additional (and nonsensical) romance plots are added for no reason, and the male lead isnt even that hot. sorry. also kitty deciding to move to korea to connect with her mom but not bothering to learn a speck of korean and insisting that everyone else speak to her in english really sucks honestly. not even my mom liked it so thats how you know its bad 👎

succession season 1: yesss succession. greg is my favorite cant wait to see him become evil. makes me stressed

shin kamen rider (hideaki anno): reboot of the first kamen rider by the guy who made evangelion. this guy kinda makes the same thing over and over but it looked sick as hell so i wasnt complaining. like stella obstinaterixatrix said, kinda more introspective or even insular to the point of kinda ignoring the usual kr theme of justice but it was still very fun :3 kinda want to watch the original now

ready player one (movie): my parents made me watch this movie. aggressively mediocre.

kamen rider revice and live and evil and demons: pretty fun if you have the disease that makes you think revice is good, but mostly made me miss revice. i think they should have gone more into the clone thing but i always think that so

kamen rider juuga vs kamen rider olteca: two-parter special for kr revice. i forgot what happened in this pretty much immediately after but karizaki was hot

roman holiday: a princess touring in rome escapes her duties for a day, and meets a dashing young reporter. classic romance!! i actually liked this so so much like it actually is very romantic and funny and like deserves the hype. didnt expect it to be in black and white even so audrey hepburn is really hot. (spoilers) more romances should have bittersweet endings though like it hit

kamen rider ryuki: a young man is inducted into a battle royale between those fighting for their deepest wishes, and decides to try and stop the rider battle once and for all. hey guys ryuki is so fucking good for those who have watched madoka magica a lot of it is very heavily based off of/inspired by ryuki! but ryuki does it better. pretty much The kamen rider has so much to say about justice and love and what it means to be a hero and sacrifice and *runs out of air and falls over* also it made me cry. if you ever try kamen rider try this one <3

EDIT OH i forgot about across the spiderverse 100/10 obviously groundbreaking in animation nice take on generational trauma and also like the nature of adaptation and being in a multimedia comics franchise and all that. really hope the sequel doesnt get crunched too bad. oh but copaganda not great 99/10

video games:

twisted wonderland: gacha game where random disney villains are bishie high schoolers instead. ill play chapter 3 sometime soon i swear. gameplay is terrible as with most gacha games but the characters are cute? i feel terrible guilt for being involved with a disney franchise. honestly pretty compelling character writing sometimes though sorry

apico: stardew-like about raising bees (in beta). sooooo cute and the devs obv care about bees a lot in real life. the gameplay loop + breeding systems are a little bit punishing right now though i really hope it gets adjusted. took over my life during finals (woops) and i got like half the bees and then burnt out. multiplayer is fun though!

legend of zelda tears of the kingdom: the next zelda game, now featuring building + vertical elements. yeah this took over my life for two months like it did for a bunch of other people i finished the main story a couple days ago! i might go back to do a couple more of the shrine puzzles, but other than that i think im done. LOVE the vertical elements and also all the little sidequests there are to do and how the world has changed since botw. dragons tears was really good and OMG PROVING GROUNDS. would be a 10/10 if zelda was the protag stop damseling her you guys cmon

paper mario origami king: newest paper mario game, which is a spinoff of the main series where theyre all paper (duh). im about halfway through this, i think? tried it out because of the dunkey video lol and also bc it was free at my library. very charming and inventive, has a really good soundtrack and really funny writing! i know the gameplay was controversial, but im enjoying it a lot (and theres a lot of room for error). might 100% it

it feels like this month i tried a lot of things that i didnt really like LMAO. also a lot of romance. im very happy about finally finishing the goldfinch! the only holdout on my libby is slaughterhouse 5 :P i did find some things that i really liked though! anyways this one feels a bit more scattered but if you got to the ending, congratulations! thanks for reading :3

georges parents were somehow supportive!! dnf didnt really help their case as they were keeping a lot of things in secret and georges dad find out basically by accident bc SANAP YAPPS TOO MUCH. and like they would prefer george to marry another royal as that would make their kingdom stronger (JOKES ON THEM I GUESS) but after a while they do approve seeing how in love they are

i actually went back to read our dms and sam found out about dream being in kinoko at the ball. the same ball dream and george got engaged like 2 hours before teehee. he doesnt act right there bc well he is in the royal castle with like only one of his own knights. but he goes back and just comes up with a plan how to bring dreams back home. so basically dnf are on borrowed time the moment they got engaged ^_^

dream goes back to his kingdom (pandoras vault teehee) on his own. he doesnt want to but george basically broke up with him because he knew thats the only way to make dream go and meet his brother (he doesnt took the ring back. dream goes through his own coronation with that ring hidden under the shirt)

My condolences

this is a comfort fic after the Dutch GP last weekend

premise so far:

Lestappen one shot, hurt/comfort, more so comfort, will become sweeter in the end

Charles DNF in Zandvoort, Max is catching up with him right after the winner ceremony

Definitely more than friends (were we ever friends?), less than boyfriends relationship status

Max praises the skills of Charles and goes on about how he's wasting his talent at Ferrari

Charles ends up crying/having a breakdown bc what if it's not the car but him who's not performing any better

Max offers to take him down to the beach for a walk to clear his head

They walk, look at the sea, enjoy the wind

It's peaceful, it is helping

They kiss and kiss

Charles wishes he could treat everything as easy as it is with Max, even though nothing is easy with Max

But these corresponding things are what stick them to each other so it's fine

here's the beginning of it so far

Charles felt like shit. Not even a failure, more like a lost cause. But what to mourn when the mistakes weren't his own, it's just the weather, yeah, like the rest of the grid didn't attend the same race as him. Ridiculous. It was the car, it was the car sure of it, yet Carlos finished with wonderful numbers and he fought for his top five place heroically. You have the same car. It was Charles who'd been hiding in the motorhome during the whole race, avoiding every camera as best he could. And he felt awful for that, too. Didn't even go out to congratulate his friends — wrapping Pierre in his arms, enjoying the ecstatic air around Nando and he didn't go out to search for Carlos who carried the whole team on his shoulders. How does one make up for missed opportunities? And what stings the most is him showing no support whatsoever to Max especially. It was meant to be his day and the day went as it was meant to be too. He should've been there at the podium. With him - for him. He should have hugged him, he should have brushed a quick kiss on the helmet, unnoticeable, so only the two of them know about it. He ended up as a melancholic selfish coward, mourning whatever got lost outside on the grid that day. ‘Cause the only thing he was sure of is this. Something died in him this season.

//cut, Max called him out from his hiding// “Ey, Charl. Finally, I see your face.” “Just when I started missing you” mumbled Charles, sort of non-vocal, but harshly enough that it tore off the smile of the Dutchman’s face. “Is that sarcasm or serious?” Max sounded hurt, excellent. Just what Charles needed after today, ruining the mood of the homerace winner golden lion. Damn, he is too bitter even for his inner monologues. So he tries to listen outside as a change. “Hon, schatje, you don’t have to act tough for me! I know how bad you must feel. I cannot know the exact feeling but I’ve been there, you know that. Please. Trust me with your sorrow.” Charles tries accepting the offered comfort in the form of soft gazes, warm hands on his back, on his face. Soft touches lingering on his scalp. He still felt tense but his walls can be torn down by one piece of brick at a time. "What if--" he began, Max cut him off. "You know we hate what ifs." Charles smiled, softly (that's a first). We. They race alike, they think alike. He may ponder about it sometime later. "But what if" he had to pressure this thought out, Max had to know about his concern. He was afraid of being right about it, but being alone with this realisation was even more alienating. "What if it was me, not the car. It isn't the strategy that is shit, just me."

are you kidding anon ??? i absolutely loved the fic :') it was so good! i was glued to my chair right from the get-go! if you don't mind, i'm gonna ramble about it real quick bc wowow

first of all the writing is fantastic and the characterization is so on point. i LOVED the amount of casual affection in the fic. casual affection in fics is my bread and butter baby it's just so so lovely and for what. y'know what i'm gonna include some of my favorite moments of casual affection bc i'm gonna lose it if i don't tell the world

oh my gosh okay this is the moment i realized this was no ordinary fic :') the "fondness plain" in Sapnap's voice and Dream's absolute haste to get out there and see him after hearing his voice through the door oh my GOD the amount of emotion kills me

ok this is not a fluffy moment LOL sorry i'm a sucker for hurt/comfort and the amount of hurt/comfort in this ?? i love the image of Dream leaping onto the bed with Sapnap held tightly in his arms and then them huddling under the blankets "hugging each other so tight it hurts" OUGH when you do something so passionately that it hurts just wow the emotion :')

omg the Karl dialogue here is so spot on ?? and it's such a cute moment :') Karl being unapologetically flirtatious and Dream getting flustered ?? girl i'm in love

I LOVED THIS MOMENT i'm such a sucker for good dialogue and just the image of Karl, head in hands bc of how cute dreamnap are, is so cute ?? and with George just sitting beside him, seemingly unbothered but still providing support but still secretly endeared by the whole situation ?? god so lovely. and the exchange "remember when our relationship was new, dearest?" "no" goes from affectionate to blunt real quick and that's my type of humor so it's perfect to me lol

OMG i loved this moment so much too :') the image is so cute. i love sleepy lovers who cling to their partners for warmth :') and Karl just handing him off to Dream? oh man

okay last but not least i have to gush about the kisses bc they did an excellent job of showcasing their individual personalities and relationships with each other and that's one of my favorite things about polycules: how each pairing has a different dynamic.

kwt's kiss is so sweet. sweet as sugar :') Karl being described as playful and teasing, and Dream getting whiny. but in the end they don't want to stop. they're both absolutely lovesick romantics and it perfectly suits their personalities :')

snf's kiss is more competitive. more snappish. more charged. it fits their dynamic so well. but despite what they say about each other, they just can't get enough. they try to appear unfazed by each other but girl they were waiting for that kiss

dnf's kiss is so lovely bc the contrast between George's cool confidence and Dream's warm, bumbling affection clashes where Dream's a blushing mess whenever he interacts with George, and it's so endearing to George that they just can't get enough of each other like wow

karlnap's kiss is so beloved. Sapnap's confidence draws Karl in and leaves the romantic a blushing mess in a much similar way to how George's does. Karl literally melts into him like ough he's head over heels fr

i won't be commenting on the not sfw stuff bc we try to keep this blog pg (we toe the line sometimes yesyes very sorry) but that too was very well written. the dreamnap moments and the dnf moments and kwt moments were fantastic

anyway 10/10 highly recommend this fic. i'm tagging it as a favorite in my fic tracker. anon tyvm for recommending wow
