I’ve heard rumors of Gasly in talks with Williams for Logan’ seat and Zhou in talks with Alpine for Gasly’ seat 😳

i have heard the rumors of gasly to williams which is interesting but also makes sense bc williams are definitely a more stable team than alpine at the moment. which says a lot considering that williams is not even that stable atm (ie not having an extra chasis).

but the zhou to alpine is news to me and tbh i'm not too mad at the idea of it. zhou & esteban pairing would be fun i think, and perhaps the push zhou needs. i remembering reading in an article that kick/sauber find that the bottass/zhou driver pairing a little too complaisant. they don't seem to push each other in a more competitive way in the way you see between other driver pairings. And it worked well for them but i think zhou could benefit from a little rivalry.

i would love to hear your thoughts about who might be leaving sauber!

well i personally think they'll both be leaving sauber by the end of the season. but if carlos does not sign with them, then i think they'll be more inclined to keep valterri than zhou. i think they're both great drivers that are with a team that cannot give them enough to get the wins/podiums/points they both deserve and are very capable of getting. but between the two of them, i think valterri has the upperhand in terms of racecraft and experience. he has experience driving for a winning team which i think is very valuable input that sauber/audi would be looking for in their drivers.

with how desperate audi are to get carlos in the seat though, it really does look like they're not very interested in keeping either of them. but what do you think?

kimi is definitely worthy of a mercedes seat, just not this one. he’s shown amazing potential and performance however he needs time to grow and fully develop his capabilities. bringing him in next year would be a very stupid decision by mercedes. it’s like making a child who can recite the alphabet properly read tolstoy. just because he can drive extremely well on his level doesn’t mean he can drive just as good on, or is even ready for, an f1 level.

however, once he’s gained that experience (maybe through signing with williams, which is a whole other thing in itself, or maybe even just… finishing f2 first) i definitely think kimi will do wonders with mercedes

okay maybe not now, but i do think kimi deserves the seat - he’s had an amazing junior career leading to f2 and he’s obviously doing the testing this year so he’s probably gonna get it

BUT - toto has no other options at the moment, no one really wants a 1-2 year contract because they know kimi is coming.

also i think merc are in a rebuilding phase leading up to the regulations and i do think he deserves a seat and williams have made it clear that they’re not taking him

so I think he’s getting it and i do think it’s kind of deserved but i am praying that they are not replacing Logan

i've only ever heard good things about kimi, but i haven't seen anything for myself so i hold my judgements and opinions. but i will say that i have no doubt he will likely end up in merc eventually. but i can't lie it's a little scary to think about how quickly toto wants him to move up, so i hope it's not next year.

and as for the 2025 season... toto definitely does have some choices i just think he's got tunnel vision or smth. mick schumacher & fred vesti should definitely be candidates for the seat and its a little sad that their names are not even in the mix. obviously, i do have my thoughts on why mick's name isn't being thrown around like a few would hope but i mean fred i think deserves a shot. and even if it's in a 1-2yr contract basis, i think it'd be a great stepping stone for either of them to showcase (in mick's case: re-showcase) their capabilities in an f1 car and hopefully land a seat in another team if merc does not renew.

and then of course, there is the crazy driver market happening this year with all the seats and drivers shuffling. even the drivers technically not shuffling– bc there are rumors running around that max & co are meeting with toto. which is just sooo. anyways. ya.
