i'm still not caught up with beastars s2 but the one thing i keep thinking about is how this story takes its premise (what if we have a society where a certain type of people are not allowed tenderness or the space to express negative emotions, and another type are only allowed tenderness without the space to express negative emotions) and then runs for the hills with all kinds of really interesting, well-thought-out world building. it's a great exercise in characterization, you can see the setting affecting characters affecting the setting. you can see ideas being challenged from different sides within the same story. the internal narrations of the characters are not reliable, even when they are being fully honest, because the very perception of their world and themselves is skewed, and you're supposed to pick it up from the rest of the story. it's very well written and it's about theater kids because it focuses in the performances of daily life (gender roles, social status, personal identities, etc) and it truly understands intersectionality. it *is* weird but that doesn't make it bad at all. the author is obviously very contemplative and her writing reflects it. it's very well made.

Lowkey genuinely intrigued for the Viper/Helios dynamic on the streamer au, like, YES I KNOW they are Wednesday’s self insert and “I can’t believe it’s not butter (Enid)” but also????? That art where Helios first appearance has her all chained up and *twirls hair* intimidating? Like c’moooooooon, this is totally going be some teen’s Harry Potter/Twilight/Hunger Games phase, I know the fancams would be insane with Helios showing her werewolf traits for the dramatics

its funny bc the show takes place during enid's worst year so she's extra angsty. It transferred to the books too and yknow wednesday would totally romanticize how violent enid can be

since enid considered that time to be her being peak edgy, she always makes sure to skip her own scenes. She will however, suffer through second hand embarrasment as long as she got to see viper though

for some reason, she wasn't aware that they'd be focusing on her teeth alot so the first time she sees it she immediately clicks off in horror. There's more scenes of this too, alot of enid in pain and lowkey struggling

Think of the lycoan curse (the show) as smth similar to beastars s2 where there's alot of focus on carnivores/werewolf culture that wednesday didn't know was a thing until now bc she went to get back enid from her trials deep in the wilderness
