can you imagine how stressful it is to be natsume's friend?

you know about the spirits? yeah okay so he's carrying around what is quite possibly the most powerful and dangerous artifact on the planet. yeah he can't distinguish spirits from real life. no he doesn't know what a "ward" or any other kind of special technique is. he fights spirits (when he has to) by punching them. it works. he's making friends with the spirits. he's getting approached and attacked by spirits basically every day. he's protected by a Quite Powerful spirit who tried to eat him. no he doesn't really want to get involved with exorcists. yeah he's involved in basically every single thing that's happened in this country recently.

you don't know about the spirits? lucky you! here's natsume takashi your friend who will sometimes get lost in the forest alone and also pass out :). he's always sick and tired. he's traumatised. sometimes you'll get woken up in the middle night because he... yeah he ran into the forest. sometimes you go into the forest with him and he disappears on you. sometimes he jumps off from bridges. he WILL try to help you solve any problem you have. he will run into the forest if you try to help him with a problem he's having. sometimes he smiles and it's the best thing you will ever see.

rly pisses me off that there are so many good donghua (chinese animated shows) but they don't get the same kind of international recognition as anime ngl

I feel like my old lady oc Beryl in your AU has definitely raised baby Fae changelings previously, hence why she seems to have a spidey-sense for Fae and their shenanigans. Part of the reason she offered to house the Mimi Fae (let's call her Sketch) is because she just misses having cheeky young fae running around the house.

Unfortunately, this means she views any fae that appears visually younger than her as BABY. She adores Love because she's so bubbly and provides good business, this of course extends to Ghost too. When he comes in he'd best be prepared to have his cheeks pinched (somehow through his mask??) because aww isn't he such a sweet boy, buying art supplies for his lovely lady!

Can and will let Love talk to her for hours about her boy while she dusts the store.

Dislikes that Soap actively eats her clients, but she's willing to put up with his existence because the poor boy looks hungry. Has he lost weight? Has he been eating well?? There's no eating anyone in the store, but she can't kick him out of one of his favourite hunting grounds, he'd starve!!

She probably knows the witch, if only because she sells ink and gemstones, and probably met Price at some point. If the witch has ordered something in that takes a while to arrive, she'll probably just drop it into Price's hands like "this is for your lady, be a good boy and give it to her." She gets free delivery, Price gets to save Witch a trip into town, a win win.

Meets Gaz when he's out with Price one day. She thinks he's absolutely darling and keeps telling him that such a sweet boy will definitely find someone who makes him happy soon.

Was very suspicious of why König was hanging around Leibling (leave the poor girl along you naughty boy!!) until she reluctantly explained that no, he's her boyfriend, the old hen doesn't need to whack König with her handbag for harassing a young woman. Of course, she immediately flips and starts cooing over what a handsome man he is while smooshing his face, just look at those lovely claws and that massive tail! Can she see his true form? Can she not? That's for Beryl to know.

I absolutely adore Beryl, I'm adding her to the Fae Shopkeepers Union.

The craft store is Love's favorite shop, she just goes in and spends hours talking about markers and pens with Sketch and Beryl until Ghost comes by to figure out where she's been all day. The sort of customer that upsells everyone. "If you're getting that set of markers you should grab this sketchbook too, the paper weight is perfect for them. Plus this pen! And if you haven't tried this pencil you're missing out." Loading up a stranger with hundreds of dollars of add ons because she can't help giving her opinion to strangers.

Witch and Liebling both stop in to commiserate about fae customers and to pick up supplies. Liebling can only get the good floral wire and ribbons from Beryl's shop after all, and Witch can't find the right paper weight for spell tags anywhere else. It's absolutely not because Beryl dotes on them.

Price appreciates the excuse to go see Witch. Witch is very suspicious that shenanigans are going on with the deliveries.

“i hate you for what you did, and i miss you like a little kid”

for a while i’ve been sitting on the idea of writing my own little character study fic for jason grace and i’ve been mulling around for some inspiration

anyway this song came on and the opening line makes me think of jason. it’s a bit heartbreaking to think of him growing up and struggling with this dichotomy of resenting his mom for abandoning him yet equally (and desperately) longing for a mom and a family that he’ll never have. it’s like a personal purgatory of hating someone that you want so badly to love you. it’s not only wanting something you can’t have but wanting something that never really wanted you in the first place which hurts even more i think.

“his mothers unkept promise was at the core of who he was. he’d built his whole life around the irritation of her words, like the grain of sand at the center of a pearl. people lie. promises are broken.”

i don’t know, there’s just something painfully tragic about the idea of this lonely kid longing for a home (family) and struggling under the weight of who he’s supposed to be and who he wants to be (when he had time to think about that in the first place) and then dying before he can meaningfully figure any of that out. family is in the center of this character in the most painful ways.

this isn’t even going into the paternal side of things which is a whole other nut to crack

i think there’s a lot of untapped potential that was left out in the open when it comes to jason’s character and backstory—all this to say that the prospective jason angst is vast lol

Of all the crypter headcanons I have Beryl being younger than Kirsch is the one I feel strongly about, it doesn't matter if it's only by a few months or weeks or even a couple minutes which Beryl secretly hates and is the reason he picks on Kadoc more often than he means to

Ao3 Update

Due to what’s happened with the AI scanning stories for their writing bots, our account is temporarily only available for those to read who have accounts with Ao3. Until they release a direct statement about what they can even do, we’re going to keep it that way. Afterwards, we’ll see. Tumblr’s still really weird about nsft, so we’re not sure what to do if they can’t sort it out.

That's a good question.. originally I intended that she was her robe. There was gonna be a thing where Spamton stepped on her robe and she yelped in pain.

Or something where they get in a fight and River person is struck. There's a gash on her robe and it later scars.. like its skin.

But since then I've gone back and fourth. Imagining her as this shadowy creature that needs some kind of cloth in order to manifest. Kind'a like possessing her robe..? So if you took the hood off there would be no head but she's still there?? I haven't thought it through yet <XD

Theoretically other people could learn the power yeah, but they would have to go through the very specific scenario that Jevil went through and have the same reaction to it that he did in order to learn how. Its not something he can really teach to others..

He was told about a way to escape this world. And after 10 years in confinement and nearly loosing all of his sanity.. he used the power in his very soul to rip through the wall of his world and escape.

If the roles were reversed and Seam went through all that, I cant say that he would have learned how to make the mirrors.. He might have just succumbed to the depression and insanity..

I suppose its possible..? But I don't think Bonnie would be willing to go that far to escape from the stress of everything. He does get breaks at night so..

It’s Radiant Boardgame Night on Roshar! What would be the favorite boardgame of each Order of the Knights Radiant?

1. Bondsmiths: Connect Four

It’s a game about forging connections! 

Stormfather: Yes, Dalinar, allow the red pieces to fall into place! Complete the line! Forge the bond!

Sibling: Use your wily human ways to be victorious, Navani!! Go diagonal or something!

Dalinar: They certainly are...invested in this game.

Navani: Just so long as the Stormfather doesn’t blow over the board when I win.

Navani: ...Again.

Stormfather: I’m very invested in connecting!!

2. Dustbringers: Jenga

With their surges of Division and Abrasian, the Dustbringers have powers that could be called...destructive. I think they’d enjoy Jenga.

5. Lightweavers: Pictionary 

With their artistic skills, Pictionary would surely be a delight for the Lightweavers.

Vathah: Come on, come on, that’s already the best drawn apple we’ve ever seen, etc.

Shallan: Aaand done!

Gaz: Time’s up.

Ishnah: It’s still tied.

6. Willshapers: Mousetrap

The Willshapers love two things: building and freeing those who have been unjustly imprisoned.

Eshonai: Wait, you said this game was about freedom, but it seems that I will be trying to trap you in a mouse jail?

Venli: Shhh...I’m putting the final touches on my mousetrap! Ha! It looks AMAZING

Eshonai: Are we trying to keep ourselves free by imprisoning others? Is that..okay?

Venli: Don’t think too hard about it.

7. Elsecallers: Scrabble 

The Elsecallers are thoughtful, scholarly, and logical. I think they’d enjoy transforming a bunch of disparate letters into words!

Jasnah: Ah, I seem to have another 7-letter word. Amusingly, it is “radiant.”

Jasnah: And over here I can make “crab,” which is not bad with the “b” counting twice on the triple letter score.

Jasnah: Looks like Side A is currently winning.

Jasnah: ...

Jasnah: Sometimes I wish there were other Elsecallers. 

8. Stonewards: Risk

The Stonewards tend to be soldiers and to enjoy warfare, weaponry, and challenges. They can make do in difficult circumstances. It seems like they’d enjoy a good game of Risk!

 Zu: I shall reinforce Greenland! That is where my troops are most needed!

Badali: Wow, another game heading into its third hour!

Badali: Take two people who are both stubborn and good at strategy...

Zu: And you have great fun all afternoon?

Badali: That’s what I was going to say!

9. Edgedancers: Pandemic

The Edgedancers are healers and helpers, those who listen to people who may otherwise be ignored and remember those who may be forgotten. I think a lovely cooperative game, and one in which you work together to heal the world, would be great for them.

Lift: I did it! I discovered one of the cures!

Godeke: Great job, kid!

Lorain: It’s no nice to play this game without a worldwide pandemic actually going on, huh?

Godeke: What, uh, made you say that?

Lorain: You know,  I have no idea!

10. Windrunners: Chess

I know chess may sound like an Elsecaller game, but hear me out. The Windrunners are all about military ranks, and in chess all the pieces represent a rank. The Windrunners believe in protecting the weak--like the king piece. Sometimes they have to accept that they can’t protect everyone, like when they must sacrifice pawns. They’re good at working in tandem, and chess is about getting disparate pieces to work together. So Chess seems like something they’d enjoy...with maybe a few exceptions.

Kaladin: Well, this game gets one thing right.

Teft: That it takes a squad to protect a man?

Skar: That the ardents go their own way?

Sigzil: Bishops.

Skar: Whatever.

Moash: That everyone is forced to protect the king, even though he is demonstrably the weakest and most useless piece?

Lyn: That any pawn can attain ultimate power?

Kaladin: No. 

Kaladin: It gets horses right.

Kaladin: Why are they the only piece that consists of a giant, creepy head?

Kaladin: Why are they big as the castle?

Kaladin: Why the hell do they move like that?!

Kaladin: This is a game about how terrifying and creepy horses are.

Teft: Maaaaybe that’s enough chess for today.

Thalia recognising Jason the moment she sees him.

She never let herself forget him. Never dared to even consider he was gone.

And here he is.

Jason doesn't recognise Thalia, but he knows she's familiar.

He was only 2 years old when the Wolves stole him away but he knows they've met before.

Thalia resisting the urge to pull him into a hug and explaining who she is.

"I'm Thalia, Thalia Grace. I'm your big sister."

The only time she'll ever use her mother's name, because it was Jason's name too.

Jason's eyes light up because I had a family?

Thalia, pushing all her rage at the God's aside nods not trusting herself to speak.

And than Jason's running into her arms.

She catches him, just like she always did.

Jason doesn't remember Thalia but knows she's telling the truth because his heart stopped when he saw her.

Like a piece of it had been returned.

Jason's mind may have forgotten his big sister but his heart sure didn't.

Thalia holding him in her arms, tears streaming down her cheeks fir all the world to see.

But she doesn't care.

Because he's here.

Because Beryl lied and Jason's alive.

Because he's here.

He's here and she's found him.

And nothing else matters but that.
