Museum AU!

Art Handler! Riri Williams is a part of the crew tasked to install the new, "Wakanda Forever" exhibit at [X Museum]. However over the course of the week, Riri starts to notice something strange about one of the portraits. This interest turns into obsession as the princess featured in the portrait starts to appear in her dreams, her untold story unfolding for Riri with each passing night. Soon enough the true nature of the Princess's curse is revealed--she has been trapped inside the painting. The threat of the curse becoming permanent looms over the pair as the exhibition's opening approaches and those keeping Shuri trapped clue in to her attempts to escape.

Prompt: While working at your campuses studio you catch the eyes of two women. What happens when you meet them again at a party?

Paint Studio

“Now what am I supposed to do?…. When I want you in my world?” Y/N hummed as she doodled on her checklist for the day.

“Have you started the canvas yet?” Your friend Kahliya asked, slightly startling you.

“Girl no, I need to though.” You replied, with a chuckle. “I’ve been out of it all day and I have no idea why?” You say as you begin tracing out pictures on the canvas. “I think it’s time we go out and party, clear our heads with some drinks. Kahliya implied. “You think drinks, loud music, and sweaty bodies are gonna clear our heads?” You questioned. “Yeah, it always does!” Kahliya said, with a smirk.

As you two begin to laugh you’re interrupted by the bell. A tall, slender woman with curly hair and shaved sides walks in with a confused look on her face. You meet eyes and smile at her silently inviting her over.

“Hello, I have reservations for a couples Paint and Sip at 6 o’clock for S.Udaku?” The woman said, with a slight head tilt. You quickly look through the reservation list for the name to check her in. “Yes ma’am, the studio is ready. Would you like to go now or wait for the other person in your party to arrive?” Y/N asked. “I’ll wait, thank you for asking.” The woman replied with a slight smile revealing the glint of her grills. Your eyes feel on her lips, focusing in on them. “Well, while you wait, here are the wines we have to choose from.” You say as you hand her the drink menu. She looks at you with low eyes for a quick second before taking the menu with a nod.

While you and Kahliya walk toward the couple's room to make sure everything is in place, suddenly the bell rings alerting us of someone entering. A shorter girl with braids and sunglasses enters with a big smile on her face. She was shouting someone’s name who I perceive is the person from earlier. I walked over to them and told them the room was ready and that they could follow me.

As I walk them to their room I quickly introduced myself with a wide smile. As we approach the room the taller woman asked in a thick accent “We’ll take one bottle of Chardonnay and cheese board.“ Yes, ma’am, I will be right back.” I say as I close the door leaving them alone.

As you prepare the glasses and tray Kahliya comes up behind you and whispers with a sly smile “Bitch, they’re cute!” Kahliya says as you chuckle. “I knowwwww, but they have to be together.” You say with a frown. “And?” Kahliya questions. “And nothing! I’m not going after someone who is already in a relationship.” You say. “You’re no fun.” Kahliya says while rolling her eyes. You mock her quietly as you bring the couple their food.

With a quick knock, you alert the two of your presence. They both look up from their canvas and look at you with low eyes. You felt a little intimidated by the two but brushed it off and finished your task. “Here are your glasses and hors d'oeuvres. I hope you enjoy, please give the bell a ring if you need any help.” You exclaimed with a smile. They both give you a small thank you and you quickly leave trying to disturb them anymore.

Next Day

The next day I found myself finishing my makeup before getting dressed for school. I decided to go with green flared pants, a light red cropped top, and an oversized flannel jacket for the day. While I was heading to my first class, someone caught my eye. It was the shorter girl from yesterday’s bookings. She was wearing blue wide-leg jeans with a black cropped top. She caught you staring and smirked. You give a short smile back but quickly walked off to your first class.

That night

“Girl are you almost ready?” Kahliya whines.

“I am.” You let out a sigh. “I just can’t get my eyeliner even. Can you come and tell me if it looks good?” You asked. “Oh my goshhhhh girl, let me see?” Kahliya groans. She walks into the bathroom with a black, mesh top with a black mini skirt, and clear heels. “You look soooo good!” You squealed. “Nooo, honey you look wayyy better!” Kahliya exclaimed. You had on a black, cropped top with ties around your waist, black flared leggings, and black and white Jordan 1’s. “Thank youuu babe, now help me.” You say. “When is Kameryn coming to pick us up?” Kahliya asked while fixing your makeup. “She should be pulling up in about 5 min.” You say. *honk*honk* “Or right now.” You laugh.

As you two walk out you hear Les coming from the car. “Bitchhhh, you look good!” You squealed. Kameryn was wearing a black asymmetrical dress with black tie-up heels. “Thank you girl! Now hurry up.” Kameryn says with a smirk. As we pull up to the party, you could see the neon lights flash and feel the bass from the music. Our trio is hit with a strong smell of booze and weed as we walk up to the entrance. When you walk in you had this feeling of being watched, but you quickly brushed it off when Kameryn dragged you through the crowd toward the bar.

“Let me have a shot of Henny!” Kameryn shouted over the music. “We’ll take some too please.” You shouted. As we waited for our drinking, you still had the feeling of you being watched. “Y/N? Y/N?” Kameryn and Kahliyah shouted. “Huh?” You jumped. “You kinda zoned out there? You good?” They questioned. “Yeah, I’m good.” You say softly. Still having the feeling of being watched.

Chapter 2

“Are you sure you’re ok?” Kamryn questioned. “I’m okay, I just need a minute. I’m gonna go to the bathroom.” You say softly. “What did you say? I can’t hear you?” Kamryn yells over the music. “I said-“ “Oh shittttttt this is my songggg!” Kahliya shouts. *play Move Your Body- Nina Sky* Kahliya grabs us both and drags us to the floor almost spilling our drinks. “Slow down!” You laugh. Y’all start to whine and playfully grind on each other to the music suddenly forgetting about the bad feeling you had.

“Oooh, move your body girl…Makes the fellas go!”

As you continue to dance, you start to look around the room to find what looked like guards posted around the room. Who are they? They seemed to be focused on something, or maybe someone. You followed their eyes to wear a couple sat. Are they staring at me? “Who are they looking at?” You asked Kamryn as you pointed in their direction. “Mmm I don’t know, don’t worry about them. Be my partner!” Kameryn said with amusement.

El Amor Que Perdimos starts to play and Kahliya already has her partner. As Kamryn and I start dancing I couldn’t help but try to get a better look. It was two women. They sat on a velvet couch with their faces blocked by smoke that blew from one of their mouths. I assumed they were a couple by the way they were sitting. One had their arm around the other in a protective way.

“Tú me decías que me amabas….. Pero en mi espalda me engañabas.”

As the smoke disappeared, I could make out their faces better. Then it hit me. They were at the studio a couple of days ago. As I start holding eye contact with them, all of my surroundings started to fade despite the loud music and shouting from the others in the room. They both were holding small smiles that were borderline smirks. One of them smiles a little bigger revealing their bottom gold grills again. What is their problem? Why are they still watching me? Aren’t they together? Why are they looking at me like that?

“I’m gonna get another drink. Do you want anything?” You ask trying to get away from their gazes. “No thanks, babe.” Kamryn said as you walked off. As you started to approach the bar, you turned around to give the couple one last glance. But to your surprise, they were gone. Where the fuck did they go? You thought as you sat down at the bar.

“What can I get you, honey?” The bartender asked. “Just some water please.” You said. “That’s all you’re gonna get?” Someone next to you asked. “I'm not a big drinker.” You said while turning around. Your eyes grow big as the women who were staring at you earlier stood in front of you. You could finally get a better look at them. The taller one was wearing an all-black suit with a chain that swung with her every move, and rings with panthers imprinted on them. Wait don’t tell this is- No, it can’t be her. Can it?

“You smoke?” Asked the shorter one leaning the blunt toward you. She was wearing a silver cropped top with a U-neck that came below her boobs and blue wide-leg jeans. “Eyes up here princess.” The shorter one said with a chuckle. “Ye-, Yeah I smoke.” You said awkwardly taking it from her. “You can put her on my tab. Shuri Udaku.” The taller one said with a thick accent. “The Shuri Udaku? As in Wakanda Shuri?” You asked while choking on smoke. “Yeah, you couldn’t tell by all the guards in here?” The shorter one said looking around. “Riri, yibanobubele.” Shuri said as Riri rolled her eyes. “What’s your name, love?” Shuri asked while checking out your outfit.

“Y/N” You said. “Oh shit, you’re in my differential equations class aren’t you?” Riri says with a slight head tilt. “I saw your name on the class roster. Why haven’t I seen you in class before?” Riri said with a laugh. “I just transferred in like a week ago.” You said. “Oh, well if you need any help let me know.” Riri said. With a nod, you politely excuse yourself from the bar. That was fucking awkward.

“Damnnnn.” Riri said underneath her breath smirking as you walked away. “Why was that so awkward?” Shuri questioned. “Maybe the staring made her a little uncomfortable.” Riri said. “Should we apologize?” Shuri asked quietly. “Naw, let her have her night. I wanna go home anyways. This party blows.” Riri said rolling her eyes.

Back To Y/N

“Kahliya, Kahliya!” You shouted through the crowd. “What’s up girl? Where you been?” Kahliya asked still dancing. “Girl, I got so much to tell you! Where’s Kam?” You asked. “Over there. Look.” Kahliya pointed giggling. Kamryn was talking to some random guy. I start to walk over before Kahliya pulls me back. “Don’t embarrass your friend now Y/N.” “Oh shut up!” You laugh.

As you walk over to Kamryn you notice all the guards walking towards the door. You then look over to meet eyes with Shuri. She was walking out with Riri in her arms. She gave you one last look before walking out. A sudden feeling of chills rushes through your body. Almost like a string pulling, you feel the need to follow after them. As if letting the string pull you, you take two steps towards the door before quickly stopping yourself. Oh my gosh, what am even doing? I don’t even know them. Once you regain yourself, you head over to Kamryn and the mystery guy she’s talking to.

“Sorry to disturb y’all, but can I talk to you for a sec?” You said softly. “Excuse me.” Kamryn says toward the guy. Once y’all got out of earshot from the guy Kamryn turns to you, “Thank you sooo much girl! It was getting so awkward talking to him. He was like low key staring at my boobs the whole time.” Kamryn said while hugging you. “Ew, what a creep.” You said disgusted. “But anyway, what’s up?” Kamryn asked. “Can we go home? I have to tell y’all something crazy that just happened to me!” You said as y’all walked toward Kahliya.

“Guys, I’m not gonna lie this party blows.” Kahliya said as we approached her. “That’s exactly why we’re leaving.” Kamryn says. We bid our goodbyes to a few friends and make our way back to the car. “I’ll drive.” You say as Kamryn handed you her keys. “Now what did you have to tell us?” Kahliya asked as she turned on the radio.

“The shit’s so good, so be illegal…. I need round two, I need a sequel”

“You know that couple we had at the studio two days ago? The ones you said were cute.” You asked. “Yeah?” Kahliya said timidly. “Ok, well um thetallergirlwasShuriUdakuprincessofWakandaandherandhergirlfriendwhoIhaveclasseswithwashittingonemeiguess.” You said extremely way too fast. “Bitch what?” Kahliya said confused. “Nigga what did you just say?” Kamryn said as well.

“Ok, so the taller woman who came into the studio was the Princess of Wakanda, Shuri Udaku. Her and I assume her girlfriend were watching me all night like hawks looking at their prey. They were eyeing me, looking me up and down, and trying to intimidate me. They finally came up to me at the bar and introduced themselves. They both looked really good though I must admit. One of them is actually in one of my classes, her name is Riri. She’s so feisty. But also-“ Kahliya cuts you off before you say anything else.

“Wait, the Princess of Wakanda? Are you serious right now?” Kahliya said as her eyes grew big. “And they were like, hitting on you?” Kamryn asked. “I mean I guess, I don’t…I don’t know?” You say timidly. “Well, did you even get their numbers?” Kamryn asked. “No, I was still in shock that they both were talking to me!” You said pulling up to the dorm.

“The Princess of Wakanda and her supposed girlfriend were eyeing you all night, intentionally trying to intimidate you, came up to you personally, was obviously flirting with you, but you didn’t get neither one of their numbers?” Kamryn asked with annoyance. “No..” You say lowering your head. “You are one stupid bitch, you know that.” Kahliya said rolling her eyes. “Listen I-“ You were cut off by your phone buzzing alerting me of two new followers and one new message.

“Can I stop by to see you tonight…… Can I stop by to see you?”
