But, she’d return to a curiosity of hers, even if she knew how it’d likely end: “So what was that earlier?  That look on your face when I said Aymeric had been worried more about you than sorting through his feelings on Thordan?” Estinien’s face immediately soured.  “Really?” “Yes, really.” He pulled a different face at that.  Part of him looked to be considering what she said, but the side that won out saw him shaking his head.  “Nothing you needs worry about.  We should keep moving, however; lest we be caught in the dark again.” Surkukteni groaned.  “You’re so picky.”  But then again, she was of the people blessed by the Night Herself.  “No night travel, you must have a bedroll.  Didn’t realize your standards were so high.” “Nor had I realized that the esteemed Warrior of Light subsists off of so little - does a bed really offend you so?” “Beds in general, no.  The Eorzean kind, yes.” “I feel as if that’s most beds.” “That’s a very Eorzea-centric observation you have there, Ser Wyrmblood.” “I wonder, whatever could be the cause of that?” It was a clear diversion, but one Surkukteni didn’t call to attention.  She still looked at him with concern over his silence, but let them fall back into banter to distract from this topic that haunted him so.
i really love these two dumbasses

So I realized that whenever I need to do some glamour plate stuff, I tend to drop by Sharlayan to use the inn there, even if I'm closer to something else. So... now I'm wondering if anyone else has a preference when it comes to this sort of thing!

FFXIV Write 2023, Day Twenty: Hamper
The steady sound of silk-on-silk fills the halls of the Bokairo Inn as Ban strides quickly towards his next destination. The wicker basket hanging from his forearm jostles his side as he walks, the queue of white hair at the nape of his neck bouncing with each step.
Reaching the room number he was seeking, he raises his free hand and knocks on the door, gloved knuckles rapping smartly on the wood.
Keeping his expression professional, he looks down at the adventurer who answers, his gaze flinty through his pince-nez. "Good afternoon, honoured ijin. In celebration of Heavensturn, the Bokairo Inn wishes to offer you this complimentary gift of food - please accept it with the best wishes of the Inn staff." Bowing deeply, the Roegadyn sets the basket of food on the ground, keeping his expression carefully neutral.

FFXIV Write - #12 "Dowdy"
adjective not stylish; drab; old-fashioned:

*gestures excitedly* My boy! Here's a peek into Lav's adventures in self-expression through clothing. *squishes him gently* I love him
Stormblood zones mentioned, no major spoilers though

Lavandin had never dressed himself in any particularly thoughtful way, fashion not being at the forefront of his priorities as a wood-warder in training; still not a priority after he had left home and found himself living on the Azim Steppe, wearing what he had kept from home and any old hand-me-downs from Cirina and the Mol. He hadn’t given it much thought, to be honest, what options were out there for adorning oneself in fabrics. The purpose of his clothing was for protection, and comfort, he didn’t see much sense in fretting over the colors and styles.
Upon arriving in Kugane, Lav was taken aback at some of the beautiful clothing and adornments he saw while wandering the markets. Luscious silks, long garments he would later discover are referred to as kimonos, and pieces of clothing in the most gorgeous colors he had laid eyes on.
He had not been in Kugane long when he started making a habit of visiting the markets. Lav walked down the now somewhat familiar path, scanning the displays of each stall as he passed. He stopped abruptly, causing a minor disruption to foot traffic, when he laid eyes upon the most beautiful garment he had yet seen. It was long, a dress, the bottom of the fabric nearly brushing the ground; and it was a most stunning shade of light purple. A spread of embroidered flowers stood out against the fabric, starting near one hip and fanning out towards the bottom hem, as if the flowers were falling, carried aloft on a light spring breeze. Other patrons of the market pushed past him, muttering in annoyance, as he stared overlong at the dress. The proprietor of that particular stall noticed his gaze, coming over with an incredibly fake, salesman smile plastered on his face.
“Ah, I see I’ve got another customer with exquisite taste!” he schmoozed, obviously going for the sale. “Perhaps a dear one’s nameday is coming up? Must be quite the lucky lady to have a keen-eyed lad like you shopping for her.” Lav’s lips twisted into a frown as his brows furrowed. A dear one… What had he meant by that? Lucky Lady…
Lavandin had not been contemplating purchasing the dress as a gift, he had been wondering what it might feel like to be the one wearing it; to have the soft fabrics drift around his legs, twirling as he spun.
It turned out he didn’t have enough money for the dress anyway - he barely had any coin at all.
Lavandin picked up odd jobs during his time in Kugane. He trotted across the city, delivering things for various merchants, even once retrieving an order from the markets for the Sekiseigumi. He spent some time apprenticing for a kindly merchant, who took pity on him as a confused newcomer to the city, teaching him the ways of the city and its markets. He worked endlessly, saving up coin. He earned enough to buy nice treats from the market, reveling in the sweet desserts and rich meals. Eventually, he earned enough.
He went back and bought the dress. He lied, when the merchant asked again if it was for a woman he was courting, he lied and handed over his hard-earned coin, and the dress was finally his.
He rushed back to his room at the Bokairo Inn, immediately placing the box down onto the bed, tearing aside the fine paper it had been wrapped in. He stared at it, uncertain for only a heartbeat before a smile spread across his face. He reached down, feeling the fabric underneath quivering fingertips. Pulling it out of the box reverently, admiring the way the fabric moved as he held it up, Lav felt giddy.
Lavandin tried on his new dress, and in a flurry of emotions, found it to be a perfect fit.

Adventurer/Player Character/OC/
Part of @ladyramora's FFXIV Prompt List Part 2
Lynn relaxed in her usual room in the Bokairo Inn, these days it was all but kept solely for her. She had once stayed in this room for a little over a year following the events of the Vault whilst she trained in the arts of the Samurai with the Sekiseigumi. It had elements of her long stay even long after she stopped calling this place her home. The Pine Bonsai and Maple too that she had carefully guided to growth, now maintained by the care of the staff, though she herself did tend to them when she found herself here. The fireflies out in the Zen Garden that could be seen from the window told her than this was a warm night, perhaps she’d find her way back towards Nobuyuki’s Izakaya for her dinner when the time came. He’d be plenty busy during this season, but she doubted he would turn down her custom, as much as she could eat and drink.
It was here in Kugane that Lynn had found herself once asking herself what being an adventurer meant to her. There had been so much pain, so much loss, there was ever so much asked of her. Some days it was hard for the dragoness to find inspiration to continue along that path, there were things that haunted her still. When she first found herself here, she was broken, lost, devoid of many of the things that she had come to associate with herself since first arriving in this world. Her job stones shattered, her very appearance different than what it once had been. She found herself needing a very active job just to survive. Once she eventually gained. Even though she was a Foreigner, she spoke fluent Hingan that she had learned from Yugiri. Something she was very glad for. Raen were not uncommon, but she no longer appeared like any Raen. She had an additional set of horns, and gray metallic scales that could shine in the light.
Her thoughts drifted back and forth often back then, between just quitting this role of Warrior of Light for good, surely someone else could take up the mantle just as she had done. What had stopped her from that was just remembering those she Had managed to save. Those she had managed to rescue. Those who had grown and become better for her help. It was those people who she adventured for. Even those she had lost would not wish for her to give up, they’d want her to carry on. For those she had lost, for those she could yet save. That was why she had decided to carry on.
She settled into a bath, sipping on sake that had been kept warm in a cedar oke tray that floated nearby in the bath. She needed to relax before venturing out, the heavy thoughts of the past weighed upon her, and her Esteem did not need to be reminded of their failings. That part of her that was her self preservation needed no additional coaxing to stand up for her own needs. Still, it was not as if one small bottle of sake was sufficient to even get the dragoness tipsy. It was just enough to relax, as the taste reminded her of her time here, resting, recovering, learning more of who she was. She was still, at her core, an Adventurer. The future still held for her many mysteries, and she would meet them too, in time.

Day 1 - Envoy
From within a room within Kugane’s famed Bokairo Inn, a blonde Raen flicks through a pile of missives and newsletters with a weary frustration in her eyes. In particular, her eyes keep going over one particular article - one of a supposed messenger from the depths of the Ruby Sea itself. From the once fabled Sui-no-Sato.
The messenger’s scheduled arrival, as well as their identity, appear to have been verified; however it was not the legitimacy of the claim which had Izayoi pouring over it again and again, even at this late hour, and by nothing more than candlelight. Rather, her eyes kept reaching to the name of the envoy in question. Takahashi Mitsuki-Sama.
Across the room, from under the covers of the room’s bed, a brunette stirs. Long, leporine ears twitch as she sits up from bed, and faint candlelight highlights her pale complexion.
“…Sweetheart..?” She asks, drowsily squinting in the dark.
“It’s just... We came all this way, and now I’m faced with this. I don’t know if I can face her after all these years.”
“If it helps, my dear, I’m not exactly a stranger to fucked up family ties.”
“I-“. Izayoi begins to reply, voice raised in a moment of panic. She pauses for a moment, taking in the weight of Mielikki’s words.
“No, you’re right. I’m just… scared. Scared of how my mother will react to me, if she thought I died. If she mourned because I left and didn’t look back. If she’d even believe that I am myself.”
Izayoi’s eyes well with tears of regret. A rare sight for her; no less from regret of what ultimately was her most pivotal decision in memory.
Mielikki stands up out of bed and slowly walks over to her partner. She kneels down to the smaller woman’s level, exacerbated by the Raen seated as she was. Though Izayoi’s gaze was aimed low to the floor, she could feel Mielikki’s coarse hands reaching for her cheeks, and gently brushing away the tears from the corners of her eyes.
“It’s okay. I’ve been there. And you know what? You were there with me. My own mother used me as a scapegoat, for Thaliak’s sake! But we made amends, and things got better. Don’t you think I’ll be there with you to tackle yours? Now get some rest.”
Izayoi, still weeping, leans forward to rest her forehead against Mielikki. With a whimper, she replies.
“…Thank you.”
Mielikki pulls Izayoi’s face to her chest into a warm hug, running her fingers gently through her hair, and though caught off guard, Izayoi relaxes into her partner’s embrace.
Izayoi takes a deep breath. Though her eyes were still red with tears and trepidation, they were joined by renewed resolve. Come what may, they would see this meeting through, together.

Hello I wrote a thing :O dunno what inspired me to do this but uhhhhh
Here you go! Enjoy?
Sussy Baka: Pebbles's Mount Rokkon Adventure (Part 1)
Tumblr media
"…from Kugane?"
Pebbles frowned at Shallow Moor as every mote of her excitement disappeared off into the aethereal sea. Of all the places she could possibly be called to, it HAD to be Kugane. Shallow Moor's first mission to explore the depths of Ul'dah with Nanamo had set the standard for what Pebbles expected of these sorts of things, which made it all the more disappointing that she would have to go to one of her least favorite places on the entire star for her second. Just the exorbitant cost of aetheryte travel was enough to make her head spin, let alone all her other gripes about the place.
Shallow Moor seemed unaffected by Pebbles's lack of excitement.
"Well? Care to give it a read?" she asked, leaning over to wave the letter in Pebbles's face.
Pebbles sighed and snatched it from her hand.
"Dear Pebbles,"
"In the selfsame spirit of friendship which has defined our every interaction to date, it is my pleasure to extend to you a humble invitation."
Oh boy.
"‘Tis because of your endearing efforts to save this star that we may benefit from this rarest of opportunities, for it was in service to your noble quest to build the good ship Ragnarak that I was able to forge a fruitful bond between myself and another of Hingashi’s Elites."
"This lord has seen fit to grant me – and a guest of my choosing – leave to go where few ijin have tread: beyond the bounds of Kugane, to the sacred slopes of Mount Rokkon itself."
"I cannot overstate the significance of this gesture, nor the allure of sights heretofore unseen by Western eyes. Nor is it an exaggeration to say that no one is more deserving of this boon than your magnanimous self."
"I eagerly await our reunion at the gates of Bokairo Inn."
"Ever your faithful servant,
- Hancock Fitzgerald"
Pebbles's eyes hurt from rolling them so much.
"Laid it on a bit thick, did he?" said Shallow Moor with an amused grin.
"I don't know what I expected, honestly," Pebbles groaned. "But seriously, OF ALL PEOPLE it has to be HIM??"
Shallow Moor seemed more fixated on the letter's contents. "Well, I'd expect no less of a consummate merchant. Not too proud to debase himself when sufficient profits at stake."
Sure.
"Still, there may be a crumb of sincerity beneath that slathering of honeyed words. And if not, you still benefit from playing along, right?"
"I guess…"
Pebbles stared down at the letter again. Even though the prospect of working with one of Lord Lolorito's lackeys made her heart drop to the pit of her stomach, she couldn't help but be a little bit intrigued about this holy mountain. And it's not like she had anything better to do anyway.
"So you'll be heading to Kugane then?"
Pebbles shrugged. "Got nothing better to do I guess."
Shallow Moor clapped her hands together joyfully in response. "Perfect! I'll send word that you're on your way then."
"Fantastic." Pebbles faked a smile and turned to leave Scholars' Harbor, her scaled tail curling back and forth in frustration.
Shallow Moor waved after Pebbles excitedly. "Fair fortune and safe travels, Pebbles! You'd best come back with plenty of stories to tell, you hear?"
Pebbles spent none of her strength to lift her hand in response. Sooner rather than later, believe me.

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?
Tumblr media
Another mini fic i wrote when i was half asleep, got inspired by Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol
Kugane. A nice change of pace. A break from the duty of being a Scion and a Warrior of Light. A chance to just be themselves, to just be Estinien and Yuhki.
It had been so long since it was just the two of them, they almost forgot what it was like to be in each other's company and each other’s alone.
As night fell, Yuhki decided they should take a dip in the hot spring just outside Bokairo Inn.
"I just hope that secretary doesn't have eyes here," Estinien mumbled, putting his arm around Yuhki. He was still wary of Tataru and just how much that Lalafell knew.
Yuhki leaned against him with a soft giggle. "She already has enough dirt on us. It's fine," she reassured. She glanced up at him, her blue eyes as affectionate as ever.
He smiled with a small huff of amusement. "True." He stayed silent for a moment, looking up at the starry sky. "It feels like just yesterday we were here helping Orn Khai. You gave me quite the lecture."
"Why wouldn't I?" Yuhki raised an eyebrow. "I mean, you disappeared without telling me, and then suddenly showed up again. How was I supposed to react?"
Estinien laughed. "You're right. In hindsight, I should have talked to you before I left Ishgard."
"But hey, it's in the past," Yuhki responded, nuzzling against his chest. The combination of being in a hot spring and Estinien's strong but gentle embrace made her even more relaxed. "We're together now."
"Yeah, we are." Estinien absent-mindedly brushed some of Yuhki's hair out of her face with a doting smile. His gaze returned to the sky. If it weren't for their encounter in Kugane, would they be where they were now?
Would they be engaged? Would they have their twins?
A quiet snore drew him from his thoughts. Yuhki had fallen asleep, still resting her head on his shoulder. He laughed quietly, stroking her hair for a moment before pulling her into his arms.
Letting her sleep, he carried her back to their room. All his pondering of what could have been, and yet he wouldn't change a thing....
