BoTW Theory: The Champions were unarmed when the Blights attacked
Losing my mind I just realised this detail in BoTW and I had to share it. Maybe this has already been pointed out, but I wanted to dive into it. In Memory 15 “Return of Calamity Ganon,” none of the champions are shown with their weapons, except for Link.
Tumblr media
See, no weapons.
Tumblr media
And when Revali flies up to get a better look at the Calamity, we can see he doesn’t have his Great Eagle Bow.
Tumblr media
The only one with a visible weapon is Link, who has the Master Sword.
We can assume that the champions headed straight to their divine beasts while Link and Zelda headed to the castle. Daruk clearly orders all of the champions to immediately head towards their Divine Beasts.
Tumblr media
And really, if you think about it, the original plan was for the champions to strike Ganon with their Divine Beasts, they’d have no reason to think they’d need their weapons, because the Champions themselves were never meant to face off with Ganon directly.
Then there is also the fact that each Champion’s respective villages has kept their Champion’s weapons in a chest for 100 years after the Calamity. This is even though no one had set foot on any of the Divine Beasts in 100 years, so if the champions DID have their weapons on them during the battle, how would it be possible for each champion’s race to have their weapons in their possession? And they couldn’t have been retrieved after Link freed the Divine Beast, because Teba makes a comment that he is not strong enough to use the Great Eagle Bow without it slowing down his flight. I don’t exactly buy the idea that Teba, while injured, would have immediately tried the Great Eagle Bow the second Vah Medoh was freed. He most likely did so at some point before freeing the Divine Beast with Link.
We know from BoTW that each divine beasts has chests containing weapons that the champions could have potentially used to defend themselves, but they are all spread out throughout the divine beasts, so it certainly would have been difficult for them to get their hands on any weapons even when they did realise they were under attack.
The only weapons onboard each divine beast were:
Vah Medoh
Tumblr media
5x Bomb Arrows
10x Ice Arrows
1x Knights Bow
Even the best archer in Hyrule (which Revali canonically was) would not be able to defeat Windblight with that.
Vah Naboris
Tumblr media
1x Knights Bow
1x Knights Shield
The only thing Urbosa would be able to use here would be the shield, she’d still have her fury, sure, but that’s hardly a fair fight. And even if she knew how to use a bow (which there is no canonical basis that she does) there weren’t any arrows aboard Vah Naboris anyway.
Vah Ruta
Tumblr media
10x Fire Arrows
10x Ice Arrows
1x Knights Halberd
The only weapon Mipha could even use here is the Knights Halberd. She’d have no use for arrows without a bow, and same thing with Urbosa, we have no idea if Mipha knows how to use a bow anyway. I should also mention that the halberd is in quite a difficult place to get to, right at the top of the Divine Beast. So this really wasn’t a fair fight for poor Mipha.
Vah Rudania
Tumblr media
1x DragonBone Boko Club
2x Knights Bows
10x Arrows (in two separate chests, so 2 chests each with 5 arrows)
5x Ice Arrows
Nothing here would be particularly useful for Daruk. The Boko club is made out of wood, so it would catch on fire. And I don’t think Daruk would even be able to hold the Knights Bow, it would be too small for him even if he knew how to use a bow (which again, who knows if he does or doesn’t). Daruk seems to have to worst luck out of everyone.
And yeah maybe there were other weapons on the divine beasts that the champions did use, but my point is to illustrate that most of the weapons they had available to them were not ideal.
The sad part is that these chests were all unopened, so the champions likely didn’t even get a chance to defend themselves, they were taken completely by surprise.
It also puts into context that most of the champions make some kind of comment about their opponent fighting dirty, it literally wasn’t a fair fight.

I think the biggest hint we have that zelink is canon in BOTW, is the secret ending, specifically, the flower petals falling in the last scene.
After you complete the wedding on tarrey town you can talk to one npc that will say that petals falling represent endeless love.
This line did not needed to be there, but the developers put, just for tha sake of doing so
But it all comes clear at the last scene
And if this isnt enough evidence, the flower that falls is a silent princess.
Princess zelda favorite flower, that also has a legend around them that says if you swear love with your partner on oe of them, both of you will live a charmed life.
And i didnt even started on Tears of the kigdom

On Awakenings in The Legend of Zelda
Tumblr media
In The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, on the corrupted-guardian-infested Blatchery Plain, in one moment Zelda is all but helpless--and in the next she becomes a living weapon capable of holding the Calamity itself at bay single-handedly.
Why did this happen at that moment? Why didn't prayer work? Some people say it's because the answer was love, but I only partially agree. I think the answer is in the screenshot.
We get scattered breadcrumbs of evidence in Breath of the Wild, Skyward Sword, Twilight Princess, Ocarina of Time, A Link to the Past, and other Zelda games that help to answer these questions. I won't talk about every single one - just the biggest, most glaring ones.
1.) The Triforce on Zelda's Hand
This is the hub of my whole argument. The Triforce on Zelda's hand (and the one that appears in the air in front of her in other shots) is complete.
Zelda is wielding the power of the entire Triforce at once--all three parts: power, wisdom, and courage. In this game she is not simply the bearer of the Triforce of Wisdom.
The punchline: BotW Zelda successfully wields the whole Triforce.
2.) Skyward Sword Link Had to Awaken The Hero Inside Him
In Skyward Sword, Zelda says, "...the goddess, Hylia, needed someone with an unbreakable spirit. That someone is you, Link. But spirit alone wasn’t enough. You had to overcome many trials and awaken the hero within yourself so that you could wield that supreme power." The supreme power she refers to is the complete Triforce.
SS Zelda is telling us ordinary courage isn't enough.
The punchline: To wield the whole Triforce, you must be a hero.
3.) Only One with a Balanced Heart Can Wield the Whole Triforce
In various games, we're also told only a balanced heart (containing wisdom, power, and courage) can wield the full Triforce. When an unbalanced person tries, the Triforce breaks into its three parts. The one most strongly aligned with the person who tried to wield it remains with them, while the other two find their most strongly aligned people alive. (In OoT, this is how Link and Zelda get the Triforces of Courage and Wisdom respectively--Ganondorf touches it, but he is unbalanced and can't wield it, so it shatters).
This is why in OoT and Twilight Princess, Link and Zelda's hands only show one glowing triangle--not all three. They each only have access to the part of the Triforce most strongly aligned to them.
The punchline: BotW Zelda must have a balanced heart when her power awakens.
4.) Once Zelda's Power Awakens, She Can Hear The Master Sword
Suddenly, after Link collapses on the Blatchery Plain, Zelda is able to hear Fi and see the glow within the Master Sword--the sword tells Zelda how to save Link.
When Zelda's power is fading at the end of BotW, she can no longer hear the sword's voice.
This strongly suggests that the magic which allows a person to hear the sword doesn't come from the sword--it comes from the person listening! [This is a critical detail for my fanfic, but I won't go into it here].
The punchline: a person must have their own magic to hear spirit-voices.
5.) The Dream Vision
BotW Zelda writes in her diary of a disturbing dream. In it, a beautiful woman tried very hard to speak with her, and it seemed urgent but Zelda simply could not hear what she was saying.
The meaning of this dream vision seems clear: Hylia is not refusing to speak with Zelda at all. She is, in fact, trying to reach her. Zelda is unable to hear Hylia because the magic which allows them to communicate does not come from Hylia. (Just like the magic that allows Zelda to hear the Master Sword does not come from the Sword). Zelda must be awake in order to hear the Goddess because the magic which allows it to happen is Zelda's.
The punchline: Hylia was not silent. Zelda was deaf.
6.) There's No Evidence That BotW Link Could Hear Hylia or Fi Pre-Calamity
Imagine being Link standing at the Spring of Power while Zelda's begging the Goddess Hylia to tell her what's wrong with her.
Put yourself in Link's shoes for a moment.
He knows Zelda's power is critical for Hyrule. So regardless of his other motivations... if Link could hear Hylia's voice coming from that statue... wouldn't he have acted on it? Wouldn't he have told Zelda he could hear it? They could have tried to work out the difference between Zelda and Link and tried to understand what Zelda needed to do. At the very least, Link could have been a go-between.
None of this happens. Zelda remains entirely in the dark until the moment her power awakens.
If Link could hear Fi... at the very least, Fi could have told Link prayer was irrelevant. (Maybe Link just didn't tell her, you might say. I say - no way. They were talking to each other by the end according to Zelda's diary. He'd have said something).
The punchline: There's a good chance Link was also deaf.
I'll collect all those punchlines: a.) BotW Zelda successfully wields the whole Triforce. b.) To wield the whole Triforce, you must be a hero. c.) BotW Zelda must have a balanced heart when her power awakens. d.) A person must have their own magic to hear spirit-voices. e.) Hylia is not silent. Zelda was deaf pre-Calamity. f.) There's a good chance Link was also deaf pre-Calamity.
Putting all that together with what Zelda does right before the Triforce appears on the back of her hand:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Link defends Zelda first--and more than just defending her, he knows this next shot is about to kill him. He stands there anyway, willing to die to give Zelda that one last chance to live. This is more than ordinary courage. This is the courage of a true hero.
Zelda says no.
She shoves Link back and steps between him and the guardian's targeting laser. And more than just defending Link, she knows this shot is about to kill her. She stands there anyway, willing to die to give Link that one last chance to live. This is more than ordinary courage. This is the courage of a true hero!
I propose to you that in this moment, they have each stepped between the other and what they believe to be certain death.
I propose that in this moment, they both met the final requirement necessary to wield the full might of the Triforce: to not only be willing in theory to die for someone, but to decide willfully to do so right then in the moment--the ultimate self-sacrifice.
True Courage.
At this moment, Zelda is now a balanced hero, no longer deaf, and the symbol of the whole Triforce appears on the back of her hand (because it's her birthright, passed down to her by heredity like parts of it were in Zelda I and II).
I believe in this moment, BotW Link may have also heard Fi's voice for the first time.
('What about when he saved Zelda from the Yiga?' you might ask. Was that brave of Link? Sure! Did he think he was facing his own death? Unlikely. He makes quick work of those footsoldiers).
('What about love?' you also might ask. Didn't love awaken Zelda's power? Well, yes, it did! She loved Link enough to die for him. The nature of that love is up to your interpretation--the drive of a stranger to shove someone else's kid out of the way of a car on the street is still a form of love, even though it doesn't come from any sort of prior attachment. I personally interpret this to be romantic love, but you don't have to. The courage of a true hero is what activates the power--the love catalyzed it).
There's more.
I decided to post about this is because a critical moment in a fanfic of mine depends on the answer to these questions. (That said, I'll post about the fanfic separately, and the rest of this will just be my answers to the questions).
As I typed this, I realized there's so much more that ties into it, but if I put it all in this one post, it'll be far, far, far too long. So... I guess I'll be posting more of these. This must be 'On Awakenings Part 1'!
On Awakenings in The Legend of Zelda, Part 2 is now up and can be read by following this link.

The Split/Swapped Triforce Theory
The Link we see in Breath of the Wild, and now Tears of the Kingdom is different to his previous incarnations in many ways, and I’m not just talking about the colour of his tunic. Every other Link that we’ve seen through the series starts their adventure with no expectation of being a great hero, of saving the land from evil. No, they set out to rescue a sister, or some children from their village, or their best friend, or a princess calling out for help. It’s only after they set out that they inevitably have to make a decision— does it have to be them that’s the hero? Couldn’t they step aside, and let someone else, older and more experienced take charge? Once they’ve rescued whoever they set out to save, or someone else has arrived to help, why keep putting themselves in danger? Even if destiny says they have to be the one, that doesn’t mean they’re forced to play that role— but each of them still chooses to, proving their courage.
Tumblr media
The Link of Breath of the Wild never gets that moment. He’s young when he draws the Master Sword for the first time, years before the return of Calamity Ganon. He isn’t set out on a quest to protect someone he cares about, but instead given the title of hero immediately, and assigned as Zelda’s personal guard. He grew up knowing what was expected of him, and even when he wakes up in the Shrine of Resurrection, his memories lost? One of the first things he’s told is that he is the light that must shine upon Hyrule, and his first glimpse of Calamity Ganon comes alongside Zelda telling him that its freedom will mean the destruction of the world, and that he must hurry. This version of Link is never given that choice that every other version of him makes at some point, never given the choice to be the hero— and is it really courage to fight when you’ve been told your whole life it’s what you’re meant to do?
Tumblr media
Though the Zelda series, the three pieces of the Triforce have been present since the second game, which introduces the Triforce of Courage, and at the same time ties Link to it for the first time. The Link we see in the Adventure of Link gained the Triforce of Wisdom by finding its scattered pieces, the Triforce of Power by defeating its previous holder. The Triforce of Courage however, he is chosen to find when the symbol of the united Triforce appears on his hand, travelling through seven palaces and facing his own dark reflection to earn it. This connection only grew stronger in Ocarina of Time, the fourth game in the series, after the Triforce splits when Ganondorf, someone with an imbalances heart makes a wish on it, transforming the Sacred Realm into the Dark World and cursing the temples of Hyrule, the Triforce of Courage is eventually revealed to rest within Link’s body. Further games only reinforced the link between the hero and courage, with the Link of The Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, and A Link Between Worlds all carrying the Triforce of Courage at some point. A pattern was formed— Power with Ganondorf, Wisdom with Zelda, and Courage with Link.
Tumblr media
The Triforce is never mentioned in Breath of the Wild, but we do see it. While its true nature and name have been forgotten over the ages, the inherited sealing power that lies within Zelda. We see it as she defeats Dark Beast Ganon, her hand outstretched as it manifests before her, a burst of light— much like the one we see in Skyward Sword when Link wishes away the Imprisoned— blossoming out and obliterating the Calamity, once and for all. In the true ending to the game, she says her powers seem to have dwindled after holding back Ganon for so long (in Japanese the specific term she uses is ‘withered’), but importantly, she doesn’t say that they’re completely gone, only that they’re less than what they once were. We’ve seen this happen before, as mentioned above— the Triforce can split into its three parts, with the one who touched it acquiring the part that represents what they desire the most. But is Wisdom what the Zelda we see in Breath of the Wild truly desires? Let me remind you, that her defeat of Dark Beast Ganon isn’t the first time we see her access the power of the Triforce. During the defence of Fort Hateno, she accesses it for the first time, the symbol of the Triforce shining on the back of her hand as we’ve seen it do time and time again for other wielders— yet only after she steps between Link and the laser of a Guardian, unarmed and powerless… in an act of courage, which is followed by her leaving to face Ganon alone after Link falls. Where this version of Link was never given the option to choose to be courageous, this version of Zelda, despite being told her entire life that her role was merely to seal the beast once the hero had defeated it, was the one to stand up and make the choice to face Ganon head-on, keeping him contained by herself for a century. If the Triforce she held did split into its three parts, the one that fits her best, the one she would desire is the Triforce of Courage.
Tumblr media
There are still two more pieces of the Triforce left though, one for Link, and one for the corpse-like Ganondorf we see in the trailers for Tears of the Kingdom. When we look at Link in Breath of the Wild, we see surprisingly few references to courage in association with him in the base game (and those references come from characters familiar with the stories of previous heroes), even when they might be expected, such as before or after completing a combat trial in a shrine, but we do see some interesting references to another third, from the Goddess Hylia, the original protector of the Triforce herself. When Link exchanges spirit orbs for a heart container or a stamina vessel, what does she say? “I shall grant the power you seek.” When Link faces the dragon Naydra, corrupted with malice, she asks him to “Show what [his] power can achieve!”. Even in his childhood, he had ties to the concept, defeating adults in combat as a young child according to Mipha. In the eighth memory of the ones he recovers a century later, we see he’d defeated a large group of monsters, including multiple silver lynels, presumably alone, and with only mild wounds. Even when we play as him, Link is constantly breaking even high-quality weapons with the strength of his blows. This link with power can also fit in with the changes to the Zelda formula, and the introduction of an open world. Breath of the Wild is a game that’s all about freedom, about having the power to choose where you go and when, rejecting the linear paths and restrictions that previous incarnations of Link faced. Even in the first Zelda game, the full Triforce of Wisdom was required to face the final dungeon. Instead of being forced to proceed in a predetermined path, this Link is the one with the power to break free from the expectations of his past and the boundaries that held them back, exploring on his own terms. To this version of Link, the Triforce of Power would represent his freedom from both his past role as a knight, something that caused him so much stress he stopped talking, and from the fears that hold back the other people of Hyrule, of the monsters that infest the kingdom‘s roads and the many ruins he explores.
Tumblr media
Finally, we get to Ganondorf. We’ve only seen a little of him from the handful of trailers for Tears of the Kingdom, but of the many questions and mysteries surrounding him, this theory can answer at least one— why now? Why is it only after the defeat of the Calamity that he seems to be ‘waking up’ or ‘breaking free’ from the place he’s been sealed away in since 10,000 or more years ago? If the Triforce indeed split when Zelda used it to defeat Dark Beast Ganon, we have our explanation— with a piece of the Triforce returned to his body, he’s been able to slowly recover his strength. If Zelda has Courage, and Link has Power, that leaves Wisdom to him, which seems to be reflected in his actions. Previously only acting as a near-mindless beast, with little in the way of strategy other than targeting the technology that defeated him the last time, this version of Ganondorf has good reason to value wisdom, and accordingly, we see him attempt to take out the three things most likely to foil his plans as soon as he can— Link (and his sword arm), Zelda, and the Master Sword that has been his downfall again and again. Even the monsters we’ve glimpsed in the trailers seem to be more organised, and strengthened by his malice. Even his appearance seems to mirror this change, as we see him dressed in golden jewellery and a loose robe , rather than the dark armour of most other appearances, or the thick formal clothing of his Wind Waker version. This gives the impression that, unless he regains one of his previous forms, this version of Ganondorf will likely focus more on his skill as a sorcerer than physical combat to fight Link, as somewhat of a contrast to his Twilight Princess version, who fights physically, only using his magic to possess Zelda and transform into Ganon. He also seems prepared to heal and boost his servants to help them achieve his goals. This falls in line with what little we know about the Triforce of Wisdom from seeing the versions of Zelda that have held it. Admittedly, this is the weakest part of this theory, just because we haven’t seen much of Ganondorf or his abilities in Tears of the Kingdom yet.
Tumblr media
In conclusion, Breath of the Wild was all about breaking the conventions of a Zelda game to make something new, and if Tears of the Kingdom wants to achieve the same, shaking up the holders of the Triforce would certainly be one way to do it. Purely talking from a mechanical viewpoint, Link learning to use the Triforce of Power could act as a replacement for the Champion’s abilities in the previous game— a known ability of that piece is to bring the wielder back from a mortal wound, stronger than before, which could serve as a replacement for Mipha’s Grace to give an example. We could even see something as cool as Zelda wielding a reforged Master Sword— after all, she was the one who heard the voice inside the sword. This all relies on Nintendo being willing to take that leap and change things up even more and I’m not sure they’d be willing to do it.

🧊 🔥 ⚡️ DRAGON ORIGIN THEORIES BOTW/TOTK ⚡️🔥🧊
⚠️ SPOILERS FOR TEARS OF THE KINGDOM ⚠️
Gonna talk about Dragon Tears and their associated memories, along with the final boss, you have been warned!
So, everyone’s seen that cutscene where Zelda eats a secret stone and becomes a dragon. This is the ONLY confirmed way that someone can turn into a dragon/how dragons are created in the BOTW/TOTK universe.
Tumblr media
So does that mean that Farosh, Dinraal, and Naydra were all human/hyrulian race at some point?
This is the only canon way for someone to become a dragon, or for dragons to be created. So that means at some point in time, 3 people consumed a secret stone, therefore becoming dragons. These dragons are Farosh (Lightning), Dinraal (Fire), and Naydra (Ice).
Transformation Theories
General
As of the time of this post, none of the dragons have been spotted in Rauru’s time, also known as the origin of Hyrule. The most recent spottings have occured in the BOTW game, and at the latest appearance chronologically, was before Link awoke in the Shrine Of Resurrection, 100 years after The Great Calamity. Now, there’s always the chance that the dragons were in hiding during the events of The Great Calamity, along with The Imprisoning War, but for the sake of clarity, im just gonna say that they weren’t around for Hyrule’s founding by Rauru and Sonia.
According to the Hyrule Compendium articles for each of the dragons, they are said to have existed since ancient times. Since there’s a likely chance that these dragons didn’t exist during Hyrule’s founding, the most likely time that they first were created was 10,000 years ago, during The First Calamity, in which the Zonai incarnation of Link (Link with the ancient heroes aspect) and the Zelda from 10,000 years ago, fought off Calamity Ganon with the Divine Beasts and 4 Champions for the first time. That is the most likely era where the dragons were first created.
🧊 Naydra 🧊
Tumblr media
I think out of all of the dragons, Naydra would have been the first to become a dragon. Out of all of the 3 core dragons (Going to exclude the Light Dragon and Demon Dragon, since they either became dragons recently, or returned to human form), Naydra has the most emphasis and screen time, to the point where they even had their own side quest to purify them in BOTW, since Ganon himself deemed them as a threat and corrupted them with Malice.
Naydra mainly circles around the Lanayru and Necluda regions of Hyrule, even full on circling Hateno village in TOTK. Im going to assume that they were a Hylian, like Zelda, and perhaps circle their own hometown (Hateno) to watch over and protect it from Malice and evils after their encounter with Ganon in BOTW. Considering the ammount of effort Ganon went through to seal/impair them, Its likely that Naydra was a sage or priest towards Hylia, likely being a person of importance and immense power.
My idea as to why they swallowed a secret stone revolves around the sage idea. Perhaps during/after the events of the Great Calamity, fearing the return of Calamity Ganon, swallowed a secret stone in order to help the heroes in the future against Ganon, or maybe to just watch over their home. Some other ideas is that they were at the brink of death, injured during the calamity, or simply at old age, and wanted to keep fighting. Either way, they were likely a religious figure of great importance who wished the watch over their hometown.
🔥 Dinraal 🔥
Tumblr media
Dinraal resides in Eldin and Akkala (along with a bit of Hebra in BOTW), and mostly hangs around Death Mountain in TOTK. I think Dinraal would have been the second dragon to transform into one. While they definitely don’t have as much focus as Naydra, there is an associated side quest involving the leviathan ruins that leads you towards their location.
Obviousl, Dinraal would have been a Goron, hanging around Eldin and Death Mountain, and mostly fire-related areas, except for traveling around Hebra during BOTW. Considering that Ganon himself ignored both Dinraal and Farosh, it’s likely that these two dragons weren’t sages or priests, but there is a likely chance that Dinraal was a sort of protector of Eldin, perhaps even being the Goron Champion during The First Calamity.
The reason as to why Dinraal became a dragon has to do with my theory of them being a protector of Eldin. In order to watch over their home, they swallowed a secret stone and became a dragon, fully devoted to watching over their home. But, as they were a protector of Goron City, it is likely they couldn’t travel far during their days before dragonization, which in turn results in them venturing towards Akkala and Hebra during BOTW, doing the exploring they never could.
⚡️ Farosh ⚡️
Tumblr media
Farosh, of course, is the youngest dragon out of the 3. Compared to the other two dragons, Farosh is relatively ignored gameplay wise, with my only discovery of them being when they emerged from Lake Hylia during their route. Compared to the other two dragons as well, Farosh has the most diverse path across both games, from 3 seperate spawns in Lake Hylia, The Spring Of Courage, and the Gerudo Highlands, and later in TOTK circling around the lower Gerudo Desert, leads me to belive that they are the youngest of the 3.
Considering Farosh’s path, it is likely that they were either a Gerudo or Luerlin Village Hylian, hanging around the Faron and Gerudo regions mostly. However, considering Naydra’s Hylian background, along with Farosh’s lightning element, I am more inclined to trust the Gerudo bloodline more. Their inconsistent path, along with being relatively ignored story-wise, leads me to believe that Farosh wasn’t a well known figure during their life before before being a dragon.
Leading on from the fact that Farosh wasn’t well known, there is a high chance that they consumed a secret stone to become well known. Perhaps they wished for the attention and praise they never received, and thus became a dragon in order to compensate for the lack there of. Even if this theory isn’t true, there is a high chance that Farosh consumed their secret stone in an impulsive move, maybe to defend it from the Yiga Clan (If the Gerudo Bloodline is considered fact), or in a bid for praise and recognition.
Feel free to share your own ideas on this theory, along with your interpretations of how the dragons came to be!

[totk] loose ends
the devs said no dlc but theres sooo much stuff in the game thats just not even addressed like i get it its a huge game but they could at least say something thats not just "idk lmao"... who knows maybe creating a champion 2 will be real
anyways spoilers but mainly for totk
starting off on the surface there's the shape of the Gerudo highlands—no explanation for why its in the shape of one of the heroine statues
Misko is never really given an explanation either... what's the far off land they talk about regarding the treasures ?? how did they get the treasure into locations practically only accessible by link??
the Palmorae Ruins/Garini... he is literally just reduced to a shopkeeper in totk but wtf is up with that medallion... I think it is straight up gone in totk but even the doors back there... the other doors in botw opened up to a shrine/skeleton so why do these specific ones not open... and why was Garini able to help unlock the shrine in botw who is that man
ancient altar ruins, prison, other sinkhole caves/ruins littering the desert? this one is pretty minor and granted ive not really looked into the altar ruins but even with all the other ruins all over the desert like what are those even supposed to be
dragon skeletons/misc bones how did the one in Gerudo MOVE?? and how did the one in Hebra get stuck in there? there was a whole questline for this in botw with the different shaped heads and even another one in totk for the Gerudo one's baby/fixing the other two's bones/eyeball and its just left there are what even are those things and why do they just not explain them... plus i guess the ones in Eldin make some sense since there is a big one but the ones in Lanaryu?? i mean it did use to be a desert but there is nothing in the game regarding those bones... and also the skulls for the monsters like what are those and the bony rock around skull lake/ibara butte lake of horse god region/breach of demise like what even is that and WHY
Zonai ruins... im so sorry i post about this so much but aside from just the area labeled "Zonai Ruins" they do not talk about them at all in game... theres roads and like a graveyard and other various structures all over the jungle and even underground
Zonai ruins out of Faron... no explanation on the ones all over the Tabantha/Hebra region's caves... i mean at least the one door for the shrine you had to knock down was turned into a cave and the other two (that i know of) had a questline but whats up with the ones in the canyon? under Kakariko too like what's up with that?? Hyrule Ridge also like the thunder part from totk is tied to a sheikha shrine and they don't talk about it in totk (the balls) and Thyplo too i guess because they never talked about why it was covered in dark... but ig that was something to do with the Zonai since some shrines do that too... and the Zonai towers like what even are those
random Hylian ruins everywhere—they all have this weird shell crest thing on them (i do not have a picture right now but these are the stone ones not the wooden ones) and they were in botw too like reaching all the way to Eventide Island like are you seriously telling me the calamity reached the island?? why are they all broken down
why isn't Lake Kilsie frozen
Ankel/Tingel/other islands off of Sokkala/Upland Zorana... those islands are just not real to me at all like why are they so high up... were they manmade??
this one is also kind of minor but the descriptions for the labyrinths make no sense like who is talking to you (lord of owls/dragons/boars(?)
the people Josha talks about in the mural (statues)... you can see a Zonai in it and the trail of statues and Zonai look NOTHING alike you cannot convince me those are Zonai or even made by Zonai
the flowers in the water at Skull Lake and around Malanya Spring like ok this is also really small but why do they do that
giant tree stumps like they just do not even talk about those even though theyre all over central Hyrule
ancient Hylian ruins—the major reigons for these are Akkala and Tabantha... ik the creating a champion did talk about this but they did not really explain it or what they were... speaking of in Akkala there are Zonai ruins WITH the Hylian ones especially in the Tarrey Town/wetland area like what's up with that
owl/boar/dragon statues... the dragons are super present in totk yes but what is up with the owl and boar... the owl esp appears all over the Hebra caves
the horned statue thing that exchanges hearts/stamina for money... how does it move around and actually how does this work
I think that's it for the surface so for the depths theres also several things...
the Gerudo Underground Cemetery?? who was buried there and why not on the surface?? like i'm pretty sure it's right under Arbiter's Grounds...
coliseums?? there are a lot of them and I think they do correspond with locations on the surface but what was the reason for them being built??
ascend points—they pop up in mostly seemingly random locations... the one that made sense was the Akkala lab which overlooks the big maze island but the others pretty much take you to the middle of nowhere plus why does it have it's own music?? they have nothing to do with the story or anything aside from that one in Korok grove
lakes/secret spring of revival... tbh actually this is theorizing but i guess that the depths were under water at one point especially with that weird barnacle pattern all over the ground and that would have left water in deep areas but that does not explain where this water would have went or why the spring of revival is heated
general landscape of the area... its an inverse of the map but only of the current map... the one in the Forgotten Temple shows the central Hyrule region was a lake but there's not really a large area of ceiling high cliffs there... and also the dueling peaks have the river going through them as cliffs even though the ancient peak was just one... how do cliffs disappear/appear??
gorondia—is it the fire temple or what?? or was it just not even real
gleeok den: do the gleeoks just come from the depths?? is the king Gleeok down there like the mother of all Gleeoks?? and whats with the statues of the four races down there also??
speaking of statues there's not one for Hylians which ok ig they did not do anything useful but also they just do not match the style of every other Zonai building down there
bargainer statues?? again they do not look Zonai, they look like the statues that lead you to mines and they're always under goddess statues... are there more to be recovered because the one at lookout landing does not seem to have a goddess statue with it... plus the bigger they are the more limbs they seem to have like the big one under the Forgotten Temple has hands and feet (granted with like 3 fingers) plus they can give out hearts?? like seeing that actually what are the goddess statues doing with your shrine balls where do they take them?? and what is the afterlife where do these statues take the poes... plus why do their eyes glow the same color as the ancient energy...
ancient underground fortress/ancient observation deck?? theres no cities or anything that really needs defense down there so why is there a whole fort down there... and the observation deck is literally like a random structure but ig it makes sense since it watches over the heart
blupee den... how did they get down there
the bosses down there like why are they down there and why are there MULTIPLE of them + what are the flux constructs guarding
great skeletons... while under the ones on the surface they are not the same creatures... i've seen theories that are like "this is a dragon and the gloom hands ate them" which makes sense bc the skeletons are about as long as Naydra but who were these three?? were they unique to the depths or something and also if they were flying how would the gloom hands reach them
trees?? theres big tree stumps in some groves like what are those but also the smaller trees look more like coral than trees and don't even drop wood when you cut them... i mean ig they do work since the Yiga seem to use them but regardless I think they refer to them as "trees" so what even are they
Akkala House of Bones... what and why
ok i think that is all for the depths so now onto the sky
the islands... i get that most of them were raised from the depths but how come none of the rock on these islands looks anything like the rock from the depths??
dive ceremony... could the Zonai fly or something?? i mean i don't think we ever saw Rauru fly or anything actually how would they even get up there in the first place... plus were the islands in the sky before Ganondorf was a thing since they did raise the Temple to protect it or was it over many years or were the constructs lying
islands specific to Gleeoks/Constructs... why are they just there like I get they protect the soul pieces but are gleeoks not evil/made of malice since they have the eye or have they just been around before Ganondorf made all the Other Monsters (moblins/bokoblins/etc)
just the style differences between the Water and Wind Temples and normal islands...what is up with that...
also why are there no zonai cities or anything?? where did they live?? like even though the two of them were the last two left there had to have been others right??
I think that is all for now thank you for coming to my ted talk

So I noticed something while looking through the "Creating a Champion" art book. (Not sure if this has been touched upon before sorry).
Tumblr media
Spoiler: they were planning to have a side quest where you meet Cottla and Koko's mom, who was killed by the yiga clan in Kakariko village. Because of this, they were going to show her spirit.
What interested me, however, was the number of spirit flames she had around her. I know it's not exactly canon, since it was cut from the game, but I find it interesting how she only has 2. I'm guessing this has to do with her being an ordinary Sheikah.
But compare this to the champions and to the king: MORE SPOILERS FOR FINAL FIGHT
Tumblr media
I'm guessing that the spirit flames indicate the level of spiritual power a spirit has, which is pretty cool!
The champions each have special ability linked to their spirits, even after death. Note how Daruk directly mentions that his protection is "from the depths of his soul"
Tumblr media
I'm guessing that the spiritual power that the champions had played into how they were able to pilot the divine beasts. So their spirit flames indicate this power. It's a cool detail!
Edit: it's kind of ridiculous how many spirit flames the champions have if we're actually comparing the two lmao.
They're basically walking bonfires at this point.

I fell down a researching rabbit-hole today so here's my hc about how BotW bomb arrows work that nobody asked for.
From the inventory description: "The explosive powder packed into the tip ignites on impact, dealing massive damage to anything caught in the blast."
Armstrong's mixture is what's often used in party poppers to make them "pop", and is also how many household matches ignite. It is a powder that, like the inventory description calls for, goes 'splode when struck (using highly technical terms here because I am not a chemist and am therefore probably wrong).
Gun cotton (nitrocellulose, also called flash cotton) is cotton that has been chemically altered to be even more 'splody than gunpowder. Shape aside, it's light-weight enough to not alter an arrow's trajectory much in flight (I think). Lots of it compacted together makes a bigger boom (and might even detonate given the right circumstances, idk). Seriously this stuff used to be used in mining operations irl and can blast small boulders apart.
These guys used gun cotton in party poppers, which shows that Armstrong's mixture can and will ignite gun cotton in giant fiery explosions like we see the bomb arrows do in BotW. The fuse is entirely unnecessary in this arrangement and does absolutely nothing. It doesn't ignite the highly flammable gun cotton no matter how long Link twiddles his thumbs. It's only there as a visual reminder to the player that, "Hey! You're using BOMB ARROWS, remember???"
so yeah that's my hc thanks for coming to my ted talk toodles~

Link ignored the order of King Rhoam that Zelda no more is allowed to research on the ancient artefacts. Instead he puts Zelda's wish/will above it and sneaks out with her in the night to do more researches. In Memory 14 it was morning and not as we all believed it would be evening.
Outpointed by @/HbZld on Twitter
In my opinion it was Link's idea to sneak out, since Zelda was too anxious

i conceptualize the differencences between botw-totk canon and things that were common in other games that aren’t in these two not as a timeline split but as a religious schism
hylians who worship the golden goddesses spread legends where link is green, hylians who only worship hylia spread legends where link is blue
they have a lot of beliefs in common but some that make each other say “what. where in the world did you get that”

Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Trailer THEORY
Is it possible the Zora King has died?
Well given the final trailer we see both Rijus and Sidons designs evolve and both Riju and Sidon along with some other characters carry tears of the kingdom towards the end
Tumblr media
! focus on Sidons head!
Tumblr media
Sidon is wearing a crown that resembles his father's...so my theory is that either the Zora King has died, given up his possession or Sidon just gets dressed more fancy to represent his people (maybe even as a sort of sage)
Anyways how are we all feeling?

On Awakenings in The Legend of Zelda, Part 2: BotW Link
Tumblr media
(If you missed part 1, you can read it here).
BotW Link is under far more social pressure than in any other Zelda game. Everyone knows he's the chosen hero. He's the Princess' Appointed Knight. He's been designated the Hylian Champion. He has a unique uniform marking him as such for all to see. He tries to live up to all of that.
It messes with him. I think there's a clue as to how in the screenshot.
In the first awakenings post, I explained some things that make me think Link could not hear either Hylia or Fi pre-Calamity. (In short: if he could, he could've helped Zelda).
I think the screenshot above is an even bigger clue. I also think the conversation leading to it reveals more about Link's situation than it seems to at first.
1.) Our Best Hope
At the start of the memory at Lake Kolomo, Zelda's talking about helping Daruk improve his ability to control Rudania. Then she says this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then, her entire demeanor changes. She holds the slate against her stomach, curls in on herself a bit, and has a distinctly not-happy look on her face. There's a pregnant pause, and she stops walking.
Tumblr media
Why does she stop? Why does she look upset?
It's true Zelda's worried about awakening her own power. She doesn't consider herself the best hope to turn back the Calamity, and I'm sure that was what she intended to express when she said this, but...
That's not why I think she paused.
I think she suddenly realized she'd just said something awful to Link.
"These Divine Beasts... they're our best hope" - not you, Link.
Not you.
The camera focuses on Link for a few seconds after this, and Link blinks, which is pretty normal... but right before he does, he narrows his eyes, just a little. (It's a tiny reaction, but from this nearly-expressionless Link, even a small change is a big deal).
I think this is why Zelda then begins to talk about Link. She does not talk about herself. Here's the rest of her dialog in order:
Tumblr media
Not just can you hear it. Can you hear it yet.
The fact that she asks if he can hear it yet suggests that at some earlier point in time, something made Zelda think he couldn't hear it. (It took me so long to pick up on this that I didn't even consider it for my own previous writings. Oh well).
Few have missed the tone with which Zelda says, "hero" at the end of this. It's doubtful at the very least. In Zelda's mind, Link has not proven himself to be a hero at this point.
Now, let's consider this from Link's point of view. - The prophecy that started the excavations of the Divine Beasts said the power to oppose the Calamity lay dormant beneath the ground. (The power's not with you, Link. You don't have it). - Zelda thinks the Divine Beasts are the best hope against the Calamity. (Not you, Link). - You haven't proven yourself to be a hero yet, Link.
As a Hylian might say, Dear Goddess. It would be absolutely no mystery why Link might doubt himself, even if he's fantastic at swordplay.
(I don't think Zelda meant to be hurtful, but I think the dialog in this memory is a prime example of constant low-level doubt signals Link's getting from people).
(Also - that prophecy was clearly false and intended to help the Calamity. I have more thoughts on that... for another post, though).
I'm going to pull two punchlines from all this stuff: - The signals from outside tell Link to doubt himself. - It's doubtful that Link could hear Fi.
(The first awakenings post has some other reasons for that 2nd one).
2.) Zelda's Diary and So Many Eyes
A good deal of Zelda's diary in BotW is about Link. It describes him as a silent knight, and she believes at first that his silence means he despises her. After the Yiga attack, she gets him to open up to her bit by bit. Here's something she discovers when he does.
Tumblr media
Link has a difficult time telling Zelda about this, which means it bears a lot of weight. Link has strong emotions tied up in his answer (if he didn't, it would be easy to talk about).
Tumblr media
Link says with so many eyes on him, he feels he has to stay strong (and silent). The fact of so many people watching him is making him change his behavior. He's worried about what they think.
The punchline: BotW Link is spending a lot of emotional energy on what other people think.
3.) To Stay Strong and to Silently Bear Any Burden
Let's break the strong and silent part down a little.
Link feels it necessary.
This is not what Link wants. It might not even be what he thinks is best. He just thinks it's necessary: something he must do.
He must stay strong.
Saying this means some part of him doesn't want to be strong all the time. He'd like a break. He doesn't think he's allowed to have one.
What kind of strength is he referring to? Does he mean physical strength to fight monsters (and the Calamity)? I don't think that's what he means, because he goes on to say:
He must silently bear any burden.
Saying this means (a) he is tempted not to stay silent and (b) the thing he wants to break his silence for is his burden. He wants to talk to someone about that weight-of-the-world on his shoulders, but he thinks he mustn't.
He thinks talking to someone about it would mean he's not staying strong.
This may seem obvious, but I'll point it out anyway: Link does feel burdened.
The punchline: Link thinks he can't tell anyone how he feels.
4.) Not Facing Fear
So, why does Link think he can't tell anyone how he feels about his burden?
I'd think if Link had mostly positive, optimistic-type thoughts about the coming Calamity, he'd have no problem telling people that. So... I tend to think the fact he feels he mustn't talk about it means the thoughts aren't so good. So, what could those not-good thoughts be? Two things seem very obvious. - Fear of losing the battle. - Fear of failing to protect the Princess.
There's a 3rd that's less obvious, but that I think is hinted at strongly: - Fear that if people knew how he felt, they would react badly. (He's worried about what they'd think. Why bother worrying about it if it doesn't matter? Link thinks it matters).
Link's not talking because he's afraid that if he does, the reaction will be bad. Exactly what bad reaction he expects isn't clear--maybe he doesn't want people to lose hope, or maybe he thinks people will hate on him, or maybe he thinks he'll cause a panic if it gets out that he's not 100% sure of himself. But regardless:
Link is scared... and he feels alone.
That's so important I'm going to say it again. Link is scared.
Is Link facing this fear?
No. He is not. The only way he could face what people would think of him is to break the silence--which he feels he mustn't do.
The only way he can face fear of losing against the Calamity is to fight it. And here... we run into a host of other problems for BotW Link (next section).
The punchline: BotW Link is having a courage problem pre-Calamity.
(The courage problem is primarily social in nature, but it still exists).
(Zelda... seems to have come so close to starting to help Link resolve this. Starting to open up to her was the first step toward facing the fear that caused his silence, but they ran out of time).
5.) BotW Link is Conforming to Societal Expectations Instead of Preparing Himself
What is BotW Link doing with his time pre-Calamity? We of course see some of what he does in memories, but we get an overarching statement in Daruk's "training journal":
Tumblr media
We know Link did brave things pre-Calamity. He slew the Lynel of Ploymus mountain. He killed a mighty pile of monsters in Eldin while traveling with Zelda. He stopped a monster from backstabbing Daruk. He stopped Yiga footsoldiers from killing Zelda. There may be other things we don't hear about, but... the entry in Daruk's diary seems to indicate... not much.
So, rather than being the person at the front repelling every monster attack, rather than constantly pushing himself to become stronger, he is mostly a bodyguard. Vigilant and dedicated, yes, but also stagnant.
When Zelda shows Link the silent princess flower, she explains they're an endangered species, but all efforts to grow them domestically have failed--the princess can only thrive in the wild. This is a metaphor regarding Zelda's inability to unlock her power while living a sheltered, ordered, protected life, but I think this metaphor also applies to Link.
Link, who follows the king's orders, works a professional, orderly job, and follows Zelda in silence for a long time.
Link who is not out in the wilds slaughtering monsters left-and-right and simultaneously assuring himself (and everyone else!) that he is in fact a badass, and will be able to slay the Calamity when it comes.
The punchline: Link's conformity prevented him from preparing for the Calamity in more meaningful ways.
6.) A Fine Line Between Courage and Recklessness
When Link kills all those monsters in Eldin, Zelda tells him there's a fine line between courage and recklessness, and that as brave as Link is, he's not immortal.
This, I think, is yet another clue that something's up with Link.
In Skyward Sword, we learn that the courage of a true hero is meant to be the willingness to do anything, to make any sacrifice, to save someone else. NOT to prove yourself.
Proving yourself is a selfish act.
Saving someone is a selfless act. Saving someone while believing it's likely to kill you is the mark of a true hero. (This 2nd bit is why saving Zelda from the Yiga isn't quite enough--which I get to further down).
(Saving someone in order to prove yourself is still a selfish act--and this matters for yet another thing I'll talk about in a later post).
If Link was behaving recklessly (and considering the size of the dead monster pile, he may very well have been), that sounds more like having something to prove than trying to save Zelda. The best way to survive a fight is not to have one in the first place. I submit that Link was on the recklessness side of the line in this memory.
The punchline: Recklessness is a selfish act - not aligned with the courage of a true hero.
(Before anyone yells at me, I'm not saying BotW Link isn't brave. Of course he is! But the Triforce pieces have strict requirements in order to be able to wield them, and we know SS Link couldn't until he'd met them).
Collecting the punchlines:
a.)The signals from outside tell Link to doubt himself. b.) It's doubtful that Link could hear Fi. c.) BotW Link is spending a lot of emotional energy on what other people think. d.) Link thinks he can't tell anyone how he feels. e.) BotW Link is having a courage problem pre-Calamity. f.) Link's conformity prevented him from preparing for the Calamity in more meaningful ways. g.) Recklessness is a selfish act - not aligned with the courage of a true hero.
And also a punchline from the first awakenings post:
h.) There's a good chance Link couldn't hear Hylia or Fi pre-Calamity.
(Double-supporting Link not hearing them both from this post and that one).
This... does not sound like someone who is ready to wield the Triforce of Courage--not yet.
And I'm going to make one assumption that I think is totally reasonable: - I assume that in order to fully wield the power of the Master Sword and to hear Fi, Link has to be aligned with the Triforce of Courage. He doesn't have to have the Triforce. But he has to be in a state in which he could wield it. (This is a little different from Skyward Sword, but I think it's reasonable because in that game, Fi was a being that everyone could see! She'd come out of the sword and other people, such as Headmaster Gaepora and the robot Scrapper, could see her! That doesn't happen anymore in other games, and I think it's because Fi 'goes to sleep' at the end of Skyward Sword - so interacting with her requires more effort--and magic--from the sword's wielder).
Punchlines b and h would be a result of the others, meaning Link's not in full alignment yet pre-Calamity--not until he entirely selflessly steps between Zelda and that guardian on Blatchery Plain, knowing that shot will kill him. That is a selfless act demonstrating the courage of a true hero, and would have put him in complete alignment. (Just like it aligned Zelda right afterward).
Tumblr media
Link's always been strong on courage when facing physical danger. In BotW, social courage challenges him. In my opinion, this is great character development for Link and an interesting social commentary on how forcing people into roles dictated by society can be harmful. (I think.. maybe that's for another post, too).
I think Link was so wound up over what people were thinking and so unwilling to face that fear it put him further from the courage of a true hero than any of the other Links had ever been. I suspect if BotW Link had never been a knight and no one had any idea what the sword on his back was, he'd have done far better--but if he had, ultimately he wouldn't have grown as much as a person.
I am not knocking BotW Link. He had the deck heavily stacked against him.
This one's more nebulous.
This post is dealing with feelings and sometimes inactions rather than the first one which was based on pre-existing lore and entirely solid actions. I'd say everything in this post is less cut and dry, and there's more than one way to interpret it. But.. this is how I do! [And it's therefore how it works in my fanfic].
There's still more, but this is already...so... long.

totk spoilers but i have a question for yall zelda theorists out there. for fic purposes, looking for someone to point me to perhaps a kernel of info from other games, etc., that might help me...
Who is talking to Link from the Goddess Statues in TOTK?
caveat: I don’t think that it’s Hylia that’s empowering Link at the Goddess Statues during TOTK. I subscribe to Zelda = Hylia always, and just...the way the spirit(s) in the statues talk to Link in TOTK just *sounds* different to me, so I think it’s not Hylia.
But I’m trying to think what are in the Hylia statues, then. Obviously there are other...Cosmic Being types, given the Bargainer/poe-collecting statues seem pretty godlike, and we have Majora and the Fierce Deity, and plenty of other examples, too.
I have ideas for how the Bargainer statue fits in to things, and I have plans for the Fierce Deity, too. But I’m trying to reacquaint myself with prev games (I’m so rustyyyy) thinking of what good-aligned godlike beings might step in for Hylia while she’s AWOL in this instance.

Honestly? I see the situation with the Sheikah Tech being a sort of parallel to technology IRL in that no matter how you try to safe-guard your data, there will always be ways to sneak in & exploit it & use it against someone.
In this way, I get the feeling that even if the Sheikah did manage to figure out about it, Ganon, as a Sorcerer, could likely figure out a new way to do it again, but this time, lay low until it was most advantageous much like how hackers will hide viruses behind innocuous masks.
That isn't to say that I think that the Hyruleans can't be allowed to advance. More so that, when they do, to only build things that are operated manually to a degree.
Especially weapons. Weapons shouldn't be operated by complex ai the way the Guardians or the Divine Beasts seemed to be.
Rather, the devices should be run mostly by simple operational ai. You could even classify the Purah Pad in such a way because even though it is controlled by programs, at the end of the day, it can't do anything or cause any real harm without the user's input.
If you notice, the Zonai's constructs doesn't seem to explicitly have permanent weapons. Rather, they have to pick up things like swords, shields, bows & arrows. But none of them are as innately destructive as the Guardians or Divine Beasts were & I think that might partially be from experience.
It may even be a way to purposefully limit the damage they could do should someone manage to hack their constructs. Which we actually do see happen in TotK twice. Once with Kouga & once in the Spirit Temple.
Either way, by limiting technology to being relatively manual, you also limit the amount of damage that can be done using that same technology should someone take over.
In fact, even the Secret Stones are that way as it's still the person who's ultimately in control. Without a user they can't really do anything.
So, I stand by my thoughts that the old king was right to at least bury the Guardians & Divine Beasts.
Maybe I'm weird,but that's just how I feel.
I don't think Ganon could 'lay low' without showing signs. Whatever his new ideas are, he'd have to test them to see if they would work or if they could be improved upon. The only way would be to just ponder the idea for millenia and then strike without practice, which could lead to a multitude of things going wrong or not like he planned. To be fair, it's easier to corrupt and break something than to fix it, but he ideally wants to keep the tech functional so he can puppet them.
But fair, it would be possible for him to hide those experiments in a way the Sheikah couldn't detect or take too long, or even lead them down the completely wrong path. But the hypothetical of the two sides struggling for centuries trying to outsmart the other is fun to think about.
That's a good point about weapons, but they would have to be careful about how and where they store them. Ganon, forever watching, could send a huge raid of monsters to seize the stores, or use malice to destroy them and blow everything in the area to nothing.
That's a good idea, to disarm the ai tech or have a failsafe where they shut down if in the presence of malice/gloom. Or if they were to ever be corrupted, make them as passive as possible for a reasonable chance at restoring them to normal.
I still disagree. I'm fairly sure the Guardian pillars around the castle were never discovered by the Hylians and yet Ganon shot those into action. They were going to be corrupted anyway, it's a good thing there were discovered at all just before the second calamity, or the simple act of them rising out of the ground would have completely unearthed the kingdom and done most of the damage.
Also why bury them instead of destroy them? That's so weird. He wants the tech gone, thinks it's served its purpose, doesn't want the Sheikah to have all that power...yet buries it for future generations to discover? What if only a couple decades later, smart angry members of newly formed Yiga dug up some of this tech and enacted revenge?? What a shortsighted king.
But never mind the king what about his wisdom wielding wife?! Why didn't she have any foresight or sense to ponder any of this??
