So I've always been pretty into sharks. And recently I've gotten into the Zelda franchise. And it got me thinking...

Sharks are color-blind(Or at least thought to be). As far as I'm aware, Sidon is the only shark-inspired Zora. Does that mean Sidon is color-blind?

Anyway, the reason why Sidon likes Link so much is because he's Red-Green colorblind. And since Link's hair is yellow and his eyes are blue(two colors Sidon can see really well) he just ended up gravitating towards Link.

Hmmm okay, I think I can give you a few off the top of my head, sure! Since we're talking about a mating season, I'm going to write reader a female/afab/child-bearing capable perspective, if that's okay. There's a headcanon I have that will involve that aspect (so trigger warning for that too btw - I'll add it in in the tags but just an fyi!) I also added a little mini fic in there for funsies lol enjoy!

It's overwhelming for him. Being with you is the first time his heat has ever truly affected him before, so the experience engulfs the poor Rito man. It's a new experience for you both.

He's scared he'll hurt you - like...actually scared. For as headstrong as he can be and how well he carries himself, he very much is still a hero - and that means no harm comes to people that don't deserve it. Especially you - who he loves so dearly and would give his ability to fly if it came down to it.

His instincts are so strong he almost can't control them this time. There's a sensation in him that needs to breed you - take you over and over until he knows he's successfully put a child in you.

Should you decide to help him, he's definitely not going to be gentle. You'll likely sustain some scratches, rug burn, and a few hickies here from his love bites. Normally Revali had never had an issue with mating season before recent - without a mate to call his own, the ruts were never something he couldn't handle. However, after falling for you, the creation of an unbreakable bond of love and trust changes things inside him. His Rito DNA senses the deep affection he holds for you and ultimately alters his internal biology to reflect as such. So when mating season comes around, you're both blissfully unaware at first. Until you walk into his hut and find him doubled over. The scent of you hits him right away, and in a very rough, shaky voice he begs you not to come any closer. But you can clearly see that he's sweating profusely, feathers fluffed and tousled. He's disheveled and groaning in what sounds like pain so immediately you're thinking he's injured...or worse.

When you try to approach him again he raises his voice to leave him alone. "Please!" he begs - and the red alarms in your head are blaring because he is not one to beg for anything - "I need you...t-to leave..." his head hangs and his chest heaves as he tries to keep a semblance of his decency intact, "I c-c-can't...pro...tect you..." You look at him confused, protect you from what? There's currently no danger! Scanning the room, you still don't understand. But then you remember, from a book you'd read a while ago that Princess Zelda has lent to you (just so you could understand Rito culture a bit better) - spring always meant mating season. Your eyes connect with the foliage that peeks just outside of Revali's window - an elder tree in full bloom. So Revali was-- "Let me help you," you offer, realizing now why he seemed so pained. You didn't think about the decision, didn't think about the repercussions - all you wanted was for him to no longer be in distress. The black pupils of this emerald eyes withered to slits. His breathing picks up, a few short huffs away from a hyperventilation. With the last shred of coherent thought he could must, he exhaled out, "I'll...hurt...you..."

Perhaps it was your bravery, or maybe your caring, stubborn heart that would shrug off your coat, laying it on the ground before him. Revali watches you through his exasperated panting, the erection in his lower garments straining terribly, though he's trying to hide it. The groan he lets out sends a chill down your own spine when you move to gently cup his beak in your hands. As soon as you understood what was happening, you knew the risk of staying there. "I don't care, Revali...I know what you need..." his feather take on a more purple shade as he flushes, "...And I want to help you."

You barely have time to undo the bodice portion of your dress when your hands release his face and you turn to undress, because he almost immediately pins you down. His rush on your body has you landing a little awkwardly on your chest and stomach, but it's soothed by the sensation of long, soft fingered-feathers caressing your sensitive skin. The Rito's beak pecks everywhere he can reach, even plucking at your sleeves to release more of your skin from your dress. You feel his taloned foot wrap around your ankle, not necessarily doing anything to you other than anchoring you beneath him. His winged digits pinch your nipples to stiffness: the combination of those pulses of electricity and the very obvious hardness poking at your backside have you gasping already.

His rut makes him impatient; you know this as you already feel fingers circling your entrance, half to rile you up further, half to make sure you're ready. But again - Revali is impatient, and so up goes your dress, over your hips. There's brief shuffling behind you and then just as you brace your hand around what would essentially be his wrist, Revali is already spreading your legs and sliding between them. The pressure of him inside of you has you keening, and you're thankful for the little bit of foreplay you were given, making you just wet enough to accommodate him. The wing that toyed with your chest was now crowding around your neck, pulling your body upright and flush against his chest as he took you.

Revali is far less than gentle, the rough huffs and deep chitters falling over your skin as he held you still: one wing wound very loosely around your neck, the other gripping your thigh for purchase. His beak nibbled at whatever flesh he could reach. "Re...valiiiiii" you whined out, breath hitching mid thrust. But he could not hear you, his mind so incensed with fucking you to fullness, more avian than anything else as he slammed his hips into you. Yes, he would bed you multiple times that evening, and in multiple positions no less, spilling his seed so deep inside you, even he wasn't able to get you pregnant - he was surely going to take you like he planned on it.

You look up at your Rito Champion, the tufts of his feathers much more relaxed than earlier as he rests. Your fingers gently stroke his beak, and the pleased chirp he lets out warms your heart. You've no idea if this means you'll actually conceive or not - but you do know you don't mind in the least. You love Revali entirely, you wouldn't have offered if you didn't, and you're hoping that making love to him through his rut was proof enough. His beak finds your temple, carefully nibble and peck at the strands of your hair as if to preen you - it makes you giggle, his animal instincts still showing out in small ways as he settles down into sleep.

You'd assess any repercussions of his rougher handling when you awoke later, right now it just felt good to be in his arms like this.

BOTW Champion Headcannons: Dungeons and Dragons Edition

Prepare for the chaos.

Characters:

Link was the Dungeon Master and the one who introduced the Champions to the game. He's been waiting for this moment.

Zelda played a half-elf druid. The second Link mentioned turning into animals she was all in.

Mipha played a fairy cleric. Link was worried she wouldn't have fun because she's always a healer, but she was just really excited about the cleric abilities.

Urbosa chose a fire genasi barbarian with a massive double-blades battle axe. She's never been more hype for anything in her life.

Daruk played an orc paladin. He didn't really understand what was going on but he knew Link was really excited about the game so he did his best.

Revali played an aarakocra ranger. When Zelda pointed out that he was basically playing himself he responded with, "Exactly."

Riju picked a kobold rouge and made a point to point out that her character was chaotic neutral.

Teba was a harengon monk and dumped all his stat points into dexterity.

Yunobo played a minotaur artificer with the most heartbreaking soul crushing backstory ever.

And finally, Sidon chose to play a satyr bard for no other reason than it sounded fun.

The Shenanigans:

Link spent weeks planning, plotting, worldbuilding, and hyperfocusing on this fiction world and campaign. He definitely lost sleep over it.

Zelda was the only one who actually tried to stay with plot. However, she still took every opportunity avaliable to abuse her wild shape ability.

Mipha got incredibly attached to every single NPC they met and begged the others to let them come with them.

Urbosa's play style consisted of two things: A. Antagonizing as many creatures, enemies, and NPC's as possible and B. Bullying Revali.

Because Daruk knew how hard Link had worked, he stopped to investigate anything and everything, much to Link's delight. He was also definitely the player who spent 30 minutes trying to get through a door when all he had to do was open it.

Revali insisted that his character was super angsty and hated the rest of the party, but they all completely disregarded it. He also spent most of his time trying to avoid Urbosa's antics.

Riju was the most chaotic and unhinged of the party, and she totally tried to fight the BBEG at like level 4.

Teba really tried to strategize and find a way to defeat every enemy in the most efficient way possible, but his efforts were sadly in vain. Most sessions ended with him pinching the bridge of his beak in disappointment.

Yunobo obsessed over the story and lore and took detailed notes for the whole campaign.

Sidon abused his charisma stats to befriend everybody and everything. He probably ended up defeating the BBEG with a therapy session.

Dearest Revali...

Revali,

This letter idea feels... childish and futile. Apart of me can't help but wonder if you would feel the same. After my memories returned and I was able to understand the timeline of events... I found myself more lost than one perhaps should. I lived and so many died-- you died. I can't change these events and pondering on what I may have been able to do differently only brings more heartache.

Zelda hopes that writing these unsent letters may help me regulate and grow, these were the words she shared with me. Now that there is no threat looming over Hyrule, the Calamity is defeated and you and the other champions are forever gone I feel as though I have nothing. This is not to discredit the princess as she does her best to keep us busy with the rebuilding of Hyrule. She does not put expectations of my help but it is easier to be around someone who knows the loss I feel-- who knew you.

It is difficult not to feel the breeze and wonder if you're in it. If you can even see me now... hunched over this paper that becomes more and more full of my writing that I wonder if you had even had the opportunity to obtain a glimpse of. The sky tonight resembles one of your favorites... it must be the reason why I mustered up the courage to finally start writing to you. I can't tell if it helps or hurts knowing you will never see this. This does not stop me from imagining what you may say. The jests you may toss my way as the curve of your beak upturns in what I always saw as your smile...

I had to make a poster for my German class to show an example of the preposition “Über” (Over) so I drew BOTW Link paragliding over a bokoblin and uh. It got me thinking. Mainly about how Über, the German word, is similar to Uber, the transportation company. And now I’m imagining a Hylian Uber service where it’s all run by Link. For ten rupees you can be brought personally to your location by the Hero himself! The only downside is he gets to chose the route.

And he’s a bit of a thrill seeker sometimes.

-That's why he pays attention to you. He keeps an eye on you. And even if you're raging against him, determined to cut him down, he's growing fond of you.

Little headcanon

So I noticed in botw there aren’t any (hylian) NPCs who wear vibrant blue. Some will wear a dusty blue, yes, but not a vibrant blue. Sure, some gerudo clothes have some bright blue on them, and yes Yunobo wears that champions blue scarf around his neck (which I HC to be what remains of Daruk’s champions sash)

But other then that you don’t see much bright blue in the game. Dark blue, sometimes. Dusty blue, also sometimes. But never once will you see a hylian npc with bright champions blue clothes.(as far as I’m aware, at least) while yes, this is probs just because they didn’t want any non important characters to stand out too much, I’m choosing the headcanon rout that it used to be illegal to wear a bright, vibrant blue. Specifically the champions tunic blue. That color is reserved for royals and people of high importance (the champions)

I believe when Wild first regained his champions tunic, he was basically exiled from Hateno village and any stables that saw him wear it at first. Imagine, bright blue is sacred and that’s completely understood throughout hyrule. It’s a sign of the royal family, to wear it would be disrespectful! But then this teen who you’ve never seen before Waltz up in a replica of the hylian champions tunic, you’d be pretty upset. It’s blasphemy! I imagine he’d something else for a long while, But then a month or few later, he comes back with the master sword. And all is good because oh my god he IS the champion!

Wild gets used to these rules, and over the time of defeating the calamity and the bit of peace he found himself inforcing these rules as well, y’know, protecting his and the champions names. But then, this large group of hylians waltz up and what do you know- three of them specifically are wearing vibrant blue. Legend with his hat, Wind with his tunic, and Wars with his scarf. Now, imagine you LITERALLY gave your life for hyrule, and this shade of blue you bare is proof of that. But then these strangers walk up wearing it?? I bet he’d get frustrated. I’m sure he’d be more understanding when he gets to know them more but I bet you he makes them take off/cover up their bright blue gear.

BOTW Champion Headcannons: Monopoly Edition

Purrah does nothing except buy all the railroads.

Link buys one or two properties and then spends the rest of the game upgrading them.

Robbie insists on being the top hat.

Revali constantly winds up in jail and has no idea how.

Urbosa and Riju get into a bidding war over the boardwalk.

Yunobo opted not to play and hid in a corner for the duration of the game because the competition was too much pressure.

Zelda didn't play either and instead went on an info dump tangent about the flaws of capitalism.

Daruk agreed to be the banker and he kept slipping Mipha 100 dollar bills.

Sidon's just having a good time. Completely unbothered. Vibing.

Whenever someone asks Purrah for a trade she folds her hands and ominously goes, "Make me an offer I can't refuse."

Whenever Robbie passes jail he enthusiasticly waves at whoever is inside (usually Revali).

Teba stays silent the entire game and no one even realizes he's playing until the very end when he wins.

Riju will fist fight you over being the dog.
