If Seven have water bending powers, Six soul eating powers and Mono space-time powers what would Raincoat Girl powers would be
oOOOO see, I thought about this quite a bit for the past week. I don't think Raincoat girl's powers will come up in Channel Change, so I'll share my headcanon here.
Raincoat girl I've always called "Five" though I've considered calling her "Quinn" (or even "Cinc") sometimes to not be so obviously a number, kind of like Mono's naming scheme. But I don't think the name Quinn would stick with the fandom as well as "Five" would...
To me, Five would have the ability to change her size at will. (Typically shrink, but only when she gets more powerful later she will learn how to enlarge herself.) She may also have the ability the manipulate the sizes of objects, people, or animals around her.
My evidence:
1. "VERY LITTLE Nightmares" game title
2. The Nest is more like a giant doll house, and she's surrounded by children turned into dolls
3. Each collectible has something to do with the children's powers. She collects Jack-in-the-boxes; children's toys that had been made in France as little "Demon-in-the-boxes". A tiny puppet pops out to surprise/scare the person playing its music because typically, no one would expect a creature to be compressed in something so small.
Six is a soul eater. She can suck the souls out of adults for sustenance. She can suck the youth out of children, turning them into nomes so that she may remain immortal. She may have the ability to teleport through shadows. She may or may not also have the ability to create shadow proxy children?
Mono is a space-time manipulator. He can travel through time and teleport elsewhere through TVs. He can leave behind imprints of children and also reabsorb them? He has minor to major telekinesis and draws in the attention of those around him.
Seven has hydrokinesis. He can physically manipulate water. He can create air pockets to breathe underwater. If he concentrates, he can also control the water inside someone's body including his own. This proves difficult when trying to lift others, but his body is the easiest to control, giving the illusion that he's floating on air.
Five/Quinn is a size shifter. She can shrink at will to crawl through small spaces like a mouse; to get into hidden rooms or to avoid being caught. She can also enlarge herself at will and has the ability the manipulate thse sizes of objects, people, or animals around her. But this requires heavy concentration to do so.

Anyway while some could argue sending Merrill away from the clan was at the base of it understandable in that the mirror was known to be tainted when it came into Merrill's possession, over the acts of the game it becomes clear that wasn't the main reason she was sent away as Marethari continuously tries to exert control over Merrill and her choices
what with giving the Arulin'Holm to Hawke despite the fact that Merrill was the one to invoke the right of vir sulevanan, and Hawke isn't even Dalish and so vir sulevanan, the right any dalish has to have access to their artifacts, doesn't apply to them, to keeping the clan in Sundermount despite the danger it possessed to all of them until they 'get what they're waiting for' which is clearly at that point just for Merrill to change her mind, to every conversation the two have Marethari is talking down to her and trying to get her to return to the clan despite turning the whole clan against her to the point Pol runs away from her to his death, to the entire deal with Audacity
it's clear through the story in it's entirety that Marethari didn't send Merrill away under the sole concern of the taint still being in the mirror, and it definitely wasn't about the mirror by the end. that's why i consider Merrill one of the braver companions you can have, bc unless the player actively contributes to the emotional abuse themself, Merrill stands by on her decision and says 'no, this is important to me. it's dangerous but it's my choice to study it, and no one else gets a say in that.'
it's just an important story to me. i wish more people saw it that way, and that the narrative around it was kinder to her about it

"i hate when a villainous character gets popular enough to become a hero and writers try and retcon their histories so they never fucked up in the first place" "#magneto" sorry but may i ask if theres a particular example? i'm trying to catch up on the modern comics and i have been bracing myself for seeing this sort of thing cause. you know. nuance is dead lmao
So, I've only recently started to read magneto's comics, and I'm reading mostly some old stuff, so my knowledge is limited, and I can't say if it's a recurring problem in recent comics (I mean, I hope is not, but Idk)
When I tagged magneto on that post I was thinking specifically about the first issue of Magneto's 2023 run, which had been released recently:
Now, I can see the reasoning behind this - magneto was a really one dimensional villain when he first appeared and it is a bit weird to read the Uncanny X-men #01 when you consider his later characterization. And marvel loves trying to give an explanation for everything...
Honestly, now that I finished reading the comic, and thought a bit more about it, I think it was a honest attempt. The comic does acknowledge that his later actions as magneto were not simply an act, that he did let himself get carried away by his rage. Tho still, this explanation does feel a bit hard to believe and makes you go damn man, your logic is weird af and it's so silly. I don't think they were trying to justify his later actions so much as they were trying to explain his first appearance
... without making him look too bad. Because Magneto (1993) already did that, showing magneto's descent into:
But still, I don't mind that much what they did in magneto (2023). I think both explanations are fine when you keep in mind that marvel really wanted to keep the uncanny x-men #01 as canon. As a dc fan I find it hard to understand why... But I appreciate their loyalty. Between the two, I still much prefer the 1993 version bc it has more nuance, and i'm not averse to the idea that magneto had some really low moments and had to go through some personal growth over the years. I'm not whimsical enough to truly like the sillier version, as much as they tried to make it look less silly and more believable.

; OC AS A LOVE LANGUAGE
tagged by @indorilnerevarine to take this quiz for some of my ocs; thank you so much for the tag! <33
tagging @arklay @aartyom @risingsh0t @steelport @devilbrakers @liurnia @florbelles @shadowglens @calenhads @aelyosos @jillvalcntines @shepardgf @swordcoasts @cultistbase @brujah @girlbosselrond @camelliagwerm @reaperkiller @faarkas @veisshaupt @celticwoman & whoever else wants to do this!
; a knife called grief
You have left your house, you have left those people behind, but what are you going to do about the memories which have taken root in you? You can run but not without them. You want someone to sit with you on this cool marble floor while the sun burns everything. You want them to cut your rotten heart and theirs too. You want to sit with it in front of you, let them see you with all your flaws, which haven’t been your fault but you have been made to believe so, and you want them to love you anyways. Because you know you’d do that for them.
; an undoing influence
Can someone tell you what to do? You have been carrying so much love within you for so long it is starting to turn into anger (why does it matter, all you see is red anyways) and you have been dragging this body through each day and every night you are split open on your bed and it is so so so lonely. If someone were to walk in while you were on your bed that way and they stitched you back in a new way, lining the seams with their love and kisses, you’d probably find this dreary world a little more bearable. You want someone to turn you over and over until you look in the mirror and see yourself looking back at yourself with a gentleness which has been lacking in you since forever.
; violent devotion
Everyone seems to think you are faithless, but the thing is you haven’t yet found someone who will bring you to your knees and make you raise your head in reverence. This world has stopped bringing you joy, you want more of the divine. You want to dedicate your entire existence to someone; you want to make them realise they are not something terrible, make them see just how much beauty they are bringing to this world. You want to be the only one for them, the only one they have chosen to love. There’s a god shaped pit inside of you and only they can fit in it. And what if they choose to walk away? Didn’t I say this was violent devotion?

I think I've finally defined the superpowers of the entire Bennet family
Mr. Bennet: Telekinesis
Had only a short burst of hero work when dating Mrs. Bennet, but uses his powers a lot in daily life.
Has a high level of strength and control. Can't move things that are heavier than he could move with his physical strength, but can move a lot of them with precision. No interest in using it for any purpose besides his own convenience, though.
Mrs. Bennet: Electricity generation/manipulation
Had a short, mildly successful superhero career in which she used her powers in dazzling but not terribly creative ways.
Career ended after she pushed herself too far and more-or-less shorted herself out. She can now generate electricity in mild bursts and manipulate (and sometimes fry) the electronics in the house, but nothing nearly strong enough for effective superhero work.
Powers go a bit haywire when she get emotionally agitated, which leaves her feeling drained.
Now pins all her hopes on her daughters getting superhero careers, which will give them the freedom to use their superhuman abilities openly and allow her to relive her glory years.
Jane Bennet: Super strength
Extremely strong and completely indestructible. Can stop a train without breaking a sweat. Has yet to find anything that overpowers her strength or harms her in any way.
Still vulnerable to disease (is unable to be vaccinated against anything since her skin is unbreakable), and ingested and inhaled substances
Has intense control over her strength. Is extremely gentle in everything she does and is extremely kind because you have to be very gentle and think the best of everybody when any loss of control could hurt someone
The source of 75% of her mother's hopes in establishing the girls within Netherfield's roster of superheroes
Does want to be a superhero, because she wants to help people and because it's the only way she can see to use her full strength in a non-harmful way, but struggles with the high expectations and the way her mother's plans have shaped every factor of her life. She puts a good face on it, but sometimes secretly wonders if she'll ever be able to find personal happiness amid the demands of a superhero's life
Elizabeth Bennet: Enhanced intelligence
Able to quickly memorize and synthesize information, and can quickly follow complicated chains of logic to make snap decisions
Moderately enhanced senses (because the senses also come from the brain) that allow her to notice more details about her environment than the average person would. Directs a lot of her intelligence towards deductive and inductive reasoning based on the evidence she gathers and is extremely good at tracking and detective work.
Is extremely aware of everything in her environment and has an innate understanding of physics, so she can use everything in the area to her advantage in an emergency situation. (Everything from always knowing the best escape route, to knowing how to set off a Rube-Goldberg chain reaction that gives her an advantage, to arranging everyone's abilities for the best plan of attack, etc.).
Decently good fighting skills, especially for someone of her size and strength, because of her knowledge of physics, and because she's trained against Jane, so she's figured out ways to overcome someone much stronger than she is
Could do just about anything in the civilian sector with her talents, but wants to go into superheroing to support Jane, and because she most enjoys using her intelligence in those fast-paced emergency situations (and has little interest in further schooling)
Her mother's least favorite child, because Mrs. Bennet can't see how Lizzie's brain, as quick as it is, could help her compete against people with actual superpowers
Mary Bennet: Telekinesis
Has very weak powers. Developed them much later than her sisters did and has little power or control. Can move lots of light things very haphazardly. Often moves things without intending to, or to places she didn't intend them to go.
Wants to improve her skills, but focuses more on theory than application. Has read tons of scientific and philosophical research about her abilities, but has psyched herself out by making it more complicated than it has to be, so she's actually worse off than she'd have been if she hadn't read anything
Her dad could help, but won't because he's a jerk. It's much easier to make fun of her lack of ability than to help her improve.
Has zero interest in the superhero life, and keeps reading philosophical books about the ethics of superheroism to convince herself that she's really better off without powers
Kitty Bennet: Light manipulation
Can manipulate visible light to create illusions or make herself invisible. Mostly uses this for pranking purposes, though Lydia does fill her head with grandiose plans for their future superhero adventures
Can use her powers to manipulate the light from Lydia's electrical blasts
Can direct light into very intense beams that can do some damage
Able to see in very low light and can bend light like a mirror to see far distances or around angles like a periscope
Around home, is often invisible without intending to be. Lizzie can almost always detect her, though, and sometimes uses Kitty's abilities to train her own senses. Kitty sometimes spars against Jane, too, and uses her abilities pretty well, until Lydia pulls her away into something more frivolous
Lydia Bennet: Electricity generation/manipulation
Even at only sixteen, is more powerful than her mother ever was. This sends Mrs. Bennet into raptures.
Can generate powerful blasts of electricity. Has never been able to even mildly scorch Jane, though, which frustrates her a bit. Has called down lightning a couple of times
Can destroy electronics, though she doesn't have the control to do anything requiring more finesse than pure destruction.
Can use static electricity to cling to walls and use electricity to levitate in a way that resembles flight
Loves using her powers and is very reckless with them. Can't see why she can't start a superhero career now, because she's more powerful than any of the rest of them.
