I have a lot of scatterbrained design notes for each of them but generally I wanted them to look similar to their original designs but with different themes. I also imagine that they have the same inscribing tools as their original counterparts but just use them differently (i.e. Magnificus paints animals, Leshy takes pictures of people as they're dying/about to die, I'm not sure what the magic equivalent for P03 would be besides maybe a spellbook that copies the essence of things, and Grimora's quill would either "write" code or write directly onto the hardware of robots).

i think a lot about how early-series, demigods are referred to pretty equally as "demigods," "half-bloods," and "godlings," - the last used particularly by gods at demigods - but after that "godlings" is almost exclusively used to refer to minor gods.

kabru is so weirded out by laios' inscrutable vibes and lack of interest in other people (including kabru which he totally doesn't take personally or anything) that he immediately descends into paranoia and assumes malevolence

At the beggining of the year (i would say like two months after they arrived), Sayaka mentioned to Taka that the school uniform's jackets are way too small for her chest. Him being like "i get it it's too small for me too, my father accidently bought a smaller size than i'm supposed to wear".

#A nice episode :) I have a lot of headache tho and forgot everything I wanted to say #The ss/kk is nice :) It's nice every time Akutagawa spontaneously saves Atsushi seemingly with no reason to #The animation was very nice! It's evident a lot of money and effort went into this season and these last episodes in particular #And I like the art style a lot better than the one in the other seasons. Even season 4 where the animation is comparatively as good #What more. The Kyouka screentime is nice. The whole Guild aftermath celebrations section is very nice and heartwarming to watch #I still take a lot of issues with the entire way Kyouka's entrance exam was conceived but I think they're fairly self-explanatory. #Also fundamentally coherent with b/sd's general worldviews so #But even then there's a line that bothers me to an unexplainable amount from the first time I watched it to now. #The “it hurts” when she's hugging Atsushi. And I've reflected over that line so long from the moment I first heard it... #I think. Its meaning is to symbolize how being in the light sometimes will still result to be too overwhelming for Kyouka– #to the point at times it will still end up hurting her. But that doesn't make it any less worth it #So to say‚ there's no such thing as perfect happy endings. But she is going to be okay nonetheless #BUT IT STILL BUGS ME. I feel like it's part of a school of thought for whom we should just accept the fact that there's evil in the world– #that we can't eradicate. And nothing can be done about it. Which I don't think is a functional or useful way of thinking? #ALSO I know it's. Most definitely‚ 99% not how the scene is supposed to be interpreted #BUT ATSUSHI IS THE ONE HUGGING AND THUS HURTING HER and you know how there is this very slight narrative that seemingly– #frames Kyouka and Atsushi as romantic partners and like... I said that I'd elaborate on Meggy only being human-ish rather than fully human and I meant it.

So thanks to Splatoon 3 we know what exactly happens to Inklings that get dried out, and they...very much Do Not turn human. So my idea is that when Ultra Instinct Shaggy flew in to save her at the last second before the island blew up, what he found was her shriveled, dehydrated form crushed under the rubble, not dead quite yet but she definitely wasn't going to survive even if he flew her straight to a hospital.

So instead, he used his insane powers to restore her himself! Unfortunately, he was technically less than a minute old and knew next to nothing about Inkling anatomy and biology so he ended up doing some Weird Shit in the process.

On the outside she looks mostly human apart from a few features; namely, her ears are still big and triangular (not that you can tell unless she takes off her headgear), her lips are still v-shaped, she still has a beak instead of teeth, she still doesn't have fingernails or toenails, her hair gets darker towards the bottom (this somehow persists even if it gets cut) and is thicker than normal human hair (though you can only really tell if you touch it), and she has a bunch of freckles spread under her eyes and across the bridge of her nose that loosely resemble her old eyemask.

The inside is where things get really interesting. She's got a skeleton now, but certain big parts of it are made of cartilage instead of bone. She still has a fully functional ink sac and three hearts like a normal Inkling, and has gained a few human-exclusive organs, but she's also got a gizzard now for some reason? Along with a few other organs that neither species should have but are there anyway, likely because Shaggy thought it would be cool. Also she has ink instead of blood, which isn't true for humans or inklings (at least in this continuity) and by all rights shouldn't work but it does anyway because Anime Magic.

In terms of how it's affected her abilities, since she still has her ink sac she obviously can still produce just as much ink as before (her weapons wouldn't work otherwise. The only reason Mario, Tari and Luigi's do is because their Ink Tanks have extra tech based on FLUDD installed (and in cases where they aren't wearing their tanks it can work if sufficiently funny because Meme Logic)), but her more human-like anatomy means she no longer has a Swim Form, and she's also no longer saturated enough with it for the microbes in unfiltered water to splat her. She's stronger than before thanks to the support of her new skeleton but also more prone to injury due to less squishiness.
