I can't stop thinking about how emotional Ted got during his little speech about his friend who had to watch the Super Bowl alone twice. And how he should have been there. It's been 25 years since he didn't watch football with his friend, and he gets upset when he talks about it. Surely there is more to it than what we're lead to believe by the silly comparison. His body language and way of talking (and the background music) reminds me of the scene in season 2 episode 1: Goodbye Earl when he talks about the dog that he took care of when he was younger. Go watch that scene and then go back and watch the scene from the latest episode from the moment he says "'Cause I wasn't there. 'Cause I "didn't care."" And then note when the music starts when he says : "I should've supported him." The way he's looking down, not meeting anyone's eyes. I don't think he's really talking to the team at that point, he's talking to himself.
I want to know what Ted realised as he was telling that story, because his mood changes, or he lets his mask fall, I don't really know. But you can see the change in the way he looks at the people in the room, and how he gets more and more emotional. To the point where he's not even really looking at the other people in the room. You cannot convince me that is a man who is simply upset about not watching two Super Bowls with a friend 25 years ago.
ya joking about kentuckystroke is funny and all, but if we can be really for real for a second, drawing a connection between slade's character and the very specific cultural weirdnesses & religious... issues of rural appalachia is one of the most big-brained ideas in the history of comic books
it's only directly addressed like once & the rest of the time, it's just in subtle little references to a religious upbringing, but it's such an insanely perfect fit that all those disparate character traits i could just never really manage to find believable because there was no clear through-line or reason for any of it instantly added up like the second that fool started quoting the kjv from memory, everything about him suddenly made perfect sense
his weirdass "code" & completely amoral outlook on life has nothing to do with his brain being fried by being used as a human lab rat or as a way to rationalize murdering people for a living or whatever. that's literally just what growing up baptist does to a dude
Genshin Impact has me in a goddamn chokehold and I don’t even play the game (can’t because no console and phone can’t handle that big a game). I blame the Sumeru and Fontaine crews. 😭😭😭
Ok so like imagine Feyre didn’t say she loved Tamlin in time so Amarantha wins and everyone dies. And Rhys is having fleeting thoughts about regretting all his decisions up to this point as he watches Tamlin, specifically, dying at Amarantha’s hand. Now idk how the Cauldron works exactly but I imagine it going HEH ok why don’t you try again then? And it gives him a second chance. So he becomes aware of himself and life again right before getting to Tamlin’s door the night his father killed Tamlin’s parents in their bed.
And in the split second it takes for him to orient himself he decides to align himself with Tamlin this time so he kills his father. Then goes to Tamlin to tell him everything that happened, spins some of the truth and says he ONLY came with the intention to save Tamlin from his father and would have saved his mother given the chance. He doesn’t tell him about what’s coming, nothing about Amarantha. FROM THERE IDK maybe he convinces Tamlin to marry him or maybe he decides they need to keep their allying with each other quiet. EITHER WAY Rhys chooses the love of his life and promises to protect him this time.
I need people to understand that my hyperfixation ships are limited to one thing: a man who is usually in full control of himself meeting 1 woman and losing complete and utter control over absolutely everything he does.
I just like to watch when they go full feral for a woman who could literally chew them up and spit them out, but choses to let them stick around because I don't know, it's nice to have someone carrying their bag or whatever.
i love the orv webnovel comments. the moments where everyone goes from "ugh the yaoi fangirls are ruining the story" to "ok maybe the yaoi fangirls had a point" are the highlights of my day
