In honor of MCC DAY!! Which I can’t watch cause I have work :( I offer a Desert duo and tnt duo mcc au. Mcc is kind of the like Olympics for magic people. The winner gets a lot of money and clout.

Since dsmp! Quackity’s backstory involves being in juvi this Quackity’s is here on leave from juvi. If his team can win he gets his freedom and a fresh start.

Wilbur snuck into the competition. He dosen’t care about the money or the fame as the son of the angel of death he’s been in the spotlight his whole life. He’s desperate to prove he’s his own person apart from his powerful father and perfect brothers. And if nothing else maybe this will get his father’s attention

Grian has trained for this all his life. He’s a perfectionist down the tip of his wings. In fact Grian was picked from the streets for his stunning wings. So many people put so much time and effort into him he can’t let them down. That would be easier if Scar wasn’t also on his team.

Scar whose an outliner even in their strange team. Scar is laid back not seeming to care about the competition but he’s also oddly powerful. Way too powerful for someone who claims to be human.

This strange team is forced to work together or die. The issue is that they all hate each other. Wilbur and Quackity won’t stop bickering. Quackity’s mad they have to work with some hot shot rich kid who sucks at literally everything instead of someone who can actually help them win and Wilbur is annoyed that this nobody thinks he can talk to wilbur like that. It’s kinda hot tho Grian has had enough of Quackity’s cocky attitude and refusal to take things seriously despite obviously caring about the result. Not to mention Wilbur’s daddy issues and mommy issues and bother issues. If only he had an teammate with some common sense. Unfortunately Scar too busy being hot mysterious to help.

I really love how some double life people decide that soulbound pairs share injuries, not just damage, because it means that scar really went ‘wow my eye hurts and is bleeding ig’ and then looked over at grian and went this guy can’t possibly be my soulbound while acknowledging that they had the exact same injury.

Like, it’s not that he only glanced at grian, he CANONICALLY NOTICES AND COMMENTS ON GRIAN HAVING AN ARROW IN HIS EYE.

i have such mixed feelings about desertduo being the most popular ship in the hc/traffic fandom cause on one hand, yeah i can understand it

their dynamic lends well to a lot of angst which fans eat right up

you could easily argue that theyre foils to each other

they have accidentally created an ongoing story arc for themselves which lore whores are absolutely eating right up

they just work well in general

but on the other hand, i lowkey miss the days when grumbo was the most popular ship despite not quite exactly shipping it myself because

that was back when the hc fandom was smaller/quieter than it was now so it never really managed to completely bombard my feed despite seeing it so often

i dont really care about scarian all that much honestly like yeah i got why other ppl ship it but i sure dont

I feel so insane over c!desertduo rn cause y’all will never understand them like I do

Scar was scapegoating this mf the entire time but Grian thought he was in charge, that he was saving this man over and over but it’s situations Scar put himself in on purpose. They hate that they have to be in each others company CONSTANTLY but they hate the silence more.

There’s so many interpretations where Grian’s in denial abt needing Scar but it’s true in reverse. Scar keeps having to convince himself that Grian’s expendable when he knows That’s Not True.

They wouldn’t hold hands or have a picnic (or other romantic gestures) but they find excuses to prove the other person needs them, they find reasons to make the other stay because they’re projecting.

“He’s expendable” “This is temporary” they both project this on the other. It’s a very toxic codependency that reinforces itself over and over because of the nature of the games, and I think it’s something they both realize in LL, but in different directions.

Scar misses it for all the wrong reasons and Grian is determined to never let it happen again.

Grian has shaky alliances all season long due to self sabotage, and Scar consistently tries to get someone else, Anyone Else into the same situation Grian was in. Not out of some power trip but to fill the void that left behind
