please can you share the other finnish names (and their meanings?) of more asterix characters I'm curious now

Asterix and Obelix are same as ever. "Dogmatix" is Idefix, so basically the same as the French Idéfix. Most of the names aren't anything to write home about in Finnish and I often prefer the original French names or even the ones from the English translation.

As stated, the druid is called Akvavitix, from "akvaviitti," a type of spirit common in the Nordic countries. Its name comes, unsurprisingly, from the Latin "aqua vitae," water of life.

Geriatrix/Agecanonix is Senilix. Nothing to write home about there, it simply comes from the Finnish word for senile, "seniili."

The chief is Aladobix, a reference to a type of... um, meat jelly? Anyway the Finnish word "aladoobi" comes from French "à la daube" apparently. His wife is Smirgeline, a type of grinder which gets its name from the German "Schmirgel." It also colloquially means a shrew, so that's how she got her name.

The fishmonger is Amaryllix, which comes from Amaryllis, a type of crustacean, but could also be a reference to the flower Amaryllis belladonna? Idk.

I feel the biggest failure is the bard Assurancetourix/Cacophonix being just Trubadurix. From troubadour. Btw his original French name is funny as hell imo.

And the smith Cétautomatix/Fulliautomatix is Caravellix, so like... a reference to a type of boat?

As said, most of them aren't anything to write home about. At least Akvavitix and Aladobix are kinda silly.

On peut remercier Alexandre Astier et Louis Clichy pour beaucoup de choses dans leur adaptations d’Astérix, mais ce à quoi je pense surtout  c’est d’avoir refait du village gaulois une vraie communauté, active et solidaire. Je crois qu’on n’avait pas vu ça depuis Astérix et Obélix contre César.

Alors certes ça doit être en partie dû à ce qu’Astier utilise son crew habituel pour ses productions, mais Serge Papagalli en Abraracourcix, Florence Foresti en Bonemine ou Lionel Astier en Cétautomatix, on va pas dire non. Chacun à son petit moment dans les deux films et je trouve ça plus satisfaisant que lorsque les villageois sont une bande de figurants qu’on lâche au bout de dix minutes pour qu’Astérix et Obélix aillent faire du tourisme.

Et pour le crack dans Astérix, le poissonier et le forgeron ou/et le forgeron et Assurantourix XD

Sherlock/Moriarty : Je t'avoue ne pas avoir lu le manga, donc je ne pourrais pas te répondre ^^;;

Han/Lando : je ne les shippe pas mais je comprends que les gens les shippent. Le potentiel de friends to lovers, two disaster boyfriends smuggling together, se disputant la garde de leur vaisseau avec Chewbacca qui n'en peut plus de ces deux-là, qu'ils se trouvent une chambre pour résoudre leurs problèmes non mais !

Luke/Lando : je ne les shippe pas activement mais c'est un ship mignon et intéressant à envisager. Il y a quelques similitudes avec Han/Luke, et Lando peut être un véritable charmeur et puis j'aime imaginer Luke avoir un faible pour les hommes à moustache (Biggs, Lando, Din...). C'est un couple qui peut très bien fonctionner, et je valide !

Lumière/Big Ben : comment ne pas les aimer ? C'est FrUk mais comme s'ils étaient dans une production Disney. Ils aiment se taquiner l'un l'autre mais au-délà des disputes, je pense qu'il y a beaucoup d'estime et d'affection entre eux, je les trouve adorable !

Owen/Claire : je ne suis pas à fond dans les ships dans le fandom Jurassic Park / Jurassic World mais il faut avouer qu'ils sont très mignons ces deux-là. Ce sont deux opposés mais ils sont la preuve que l'expression "les opposés s'attirent" fonctionne. Ils n'auraient pu être que le coup d'un soir, ou un couple qui implose après s'être mis ensemble pendant une situation stressante (les événements de JW1) mais ils ont su fonctionner malgré tout, malgré le break up dans JW2, à se retrouver pour ne plus se quitter. Ils se complètent très bien et malgré tout le mal que je peux penser de JW3, j'aime la famille qu'ils forment avec Maisie et Bluuuue

Lucky Luke/Calamity Jane : je les shippe davantage de façon platonique, le genre d'amitié homme/femme que j'aimerais voir plus souvent. J'aime quand ils travaillent ensemble dans la BD comme dans les dessins-animés, ils sont très différents mais avec leurs similitudes, et j'aime les voir comme de vieux amis qui se retrouvent aussi bien pour une mission que devant un verre dans un saloon à parler de tout et de rien.

Lucky Luke/Joe Dalton : un rarepair à mon grand malheur ! C'est un ship que j'aime beaucoup, encore une fois car on retrouve le trope "enemies to lovers" ou alors "enemies with benefits" avec Luke qui se sent responsable des Dalton à chaque fois (qui d'autre pour les empêcher de faire une bêtise sinon lui ?) et qui commence à avoir un faible pour le plus petit et le plus grognon des quatre ? Joe se met si facilement en colère et malgré lui, il trouve ça adorable. Même si Joe déteste Luke, j'aime imaginer qu'il ne peut pas imaginer un monde sans lui, et j'aime sa possessivité envers Luke (il n'y a que lui et lui seul qui a le droit de descendre Luke, non mais oh !!). J'aime les rares moments dans la BD ou le dessin-animé où ils coopèrent, on sent qu'ils pourraient s'entendre malgré tout, et je déplore que ça n'arrive que trop rarement. Et puis pour être honnête, seul le fait que Luke soit du bon côté de la loi empêche Ma de faire de Luke un Dalton en bonne et due forme :P

Ordralfabétix/Cétautomatix : un ship fun à envisager, que ce soit en platonique ou pas. L'un ne peut pas vivre l'un sans l'autre, ils aiment trop se taquiner, se battre pour mieux se rabibocher après ^^ je ne les shippe pas sérieusement mais ils sont fun à imaginer ^^

Cétautomatix/Assurancetourix : un ship à envisager, pas un couple que j'adore personnellement mais pas un notp pour autant. Je suis curieuse disons et puis il y a peut-être une raison qui fait que Cétautomatix aime autant l'attacher :P

Voilà ENCORE le caviste de la cave à vin "Le Bris'Soif", Jean-Marie Lebris. On voir bien ici sa tresse armoricaine (il est bien entendu Breton).

Si dans le tome 1 il ressemblait à Obélix, dans le tome 2, ayant fait du sport et un régime (ayant pris peur à la lecture du tome 1), il est plus proche de Cétautomatix.

Ceci au grand dam de son vendeur Alan, personnage discret voir invisible dans les deux premiers tomes (vous avez ici une de ses rares apparitions), mais qui prendra une importance considérable dans le tome 3.

No one's really awake so I need to talk about the Gaylois wedding... it's been my fictional happy place for the past few days.

It's not really for anything besides sentimental value and, you could say, to "seal the deal" - they already live together, share belongings, travel together etc etc - so they have a bit of fun with it. It's more like a feast the whole village gets to have where two people just so happen to get married at the start, rather than some big ceremony.

Everyone (mostly the village women) keeps trying to tell them they have to dress up all nice, and get kind of whisked up in trying all these weird outfits supposedly for weddings. Obélix rather enjoys them (see Obelix and Co), but of course Astérix thinks it's silly, and shows up on the day in his ordinary outfit. Ironically, Astérix is the one who looks dumber, like he just rolled out of bed for his own wedding, but he and Obélix love how them it is. They do take their helmets off, though, and (being persuaded by Obélix) Astérix has his hair washed so it doesn't look flattened and rather puffs out.

Yes, part of the "ceremony" is going and bashing up Romans. There is no logical explanation for this, they all just go for an impromptu fight. It seems completely rational at the time. Obélix gets the majority, of course.

Again, Dogmatix is flower...girl? Dog? and since there is no aisle or anything he just gets to run around with a basket of petals and nudge whoever he wants for a few minutes. It's not even slightly romantic, just very funny, but Obélix is so proud of him.

MUSIC. Astérix, being the considerate guy he is, really tries to walk around the subject and somehow hopes Assurancetourix will forget he's the bard, or something. He doesn't want him tied up at the actual wedding, nor does he not want him there, so he has to really give a talking to Cétautomatix beforehand. When Assurancetourix offers to perform a grand number, however, Astérix tries to politely say, no, thank you, and Assurancetourix gets all huffy and leaves.

I think it's a big moment for Panoramix, honestly. He and Astérix have a special sort of relationship, quasi-paternal. Of course Astronomix is there, but like a second father it's a bit of an emotional time, I like to imagine. Imagine that scene from La Potion Magique, where he and Astérix are talking on the beach. I sort of think it'd be there again, right before the actual "ceremony", and Panoramix sort of looks out at the ocean and at Obélix who is setting up extremely heavy tables very quickly, and says something like, "Always remember to protect each other like you did as children. I'm proud of you". And Astérix who still looks up to Panoramix so much gets so emotional and starts crying AGAIN.

Panacea and Tragicomix actually stop for the feast, and Panacea finds it sort of funny but congratulates Obélix nonetheless. Halfway through the night Obélix and Tragicomix discover they are basically the same person and chat for ages. A beautiful new friendship now he doesn't care for his wife anymore.

Two drinks in Âgecanonix starts going on about how this marriage reminds him of his days in Alesia, and everyone has to hurry him home before he starts telling everyone about all the obscene things the Gaulish warriors did there together.

Even though they already share a house and are really not in need of anything to start their "new" life, everyone insists they still have to give wedding and housewarming gifts for the sake of tradition. It's just like Abraracourcix's birthday in La Zizanie in that everyone just gives them what they already sell, but it's the thought that counts.
