Evelynn huffs. She flicks her friend on the forehead, getting an indignant “Ow!” from him, giving him a tight smile in return.

“Relax, Toby.” She takes the paper from him, shoving it in her pocket. “I’ll be playing the girl, and everyone’ll be too busy looking at me for them to notice you. You’re gonna be fine.”

He looks at her flatly. “Coach is gonna be looking at me.”

“Uhuh.”

“At both of us, Evie, this is our final grade.”

“And it’ll all be dealt with faster than you can say ‘exodia.’” Evelynn looks up from her scrolling, giving him a decidedly more sincere smile this time. “When have I ever let us down, Toby? Besides, don’t you wanna impress your partner?”

He flushes so red at that. “I— Malcolm’s not even in our class!”

Well, that’s a step-up from his usual ‘he doesn’t like me that way’ BS. Evelynn shrugs, “I’ll get Akali to take a video.”

“She’s just gonna film you,” he says exasperatedly, which— yeah, Evelynn can admit, it does start butterflies in her stomach, but that’s beside the point.

“I’ll tell her not to.”

And Tobias groans. “Like it’s that simple!”
