Bamboos 9” x 12” Watercolor It was dragon boat festival yesterday. Bamboos were one of the themes. Then I realized I have never painted bamboos. My friend said you should, also that sounds very Asian 😂😂. Is it cuz I am Asian or is it cuz it’s bamboo? I see many different styles of painting bamboos, and I would say I have no seen anyone did it in my techniques. So here we have some bamboos with touches of lights. I wanted to achieve a fresh air feel to it. Hopefully this painting brings some Zen to your life! Rose Garden 12” x 9” Watercolor “If I had a rose for every time I thought of you, I’d be picking roses for a lifetime.” Now I get to the point I don’t need references for roses, since I paint so many roses. I was struggling to find references, then I threw my phone on my bed and about to give up. But then I was staring the blank white paper, I realized, hmmm, do I really need references anymore? Then I begin sketching…and here is what I came up with. Remembering a while back I can’t paint anything without references, my skills does not match up with my imaginations. A lot of things in my mind cannot really replicate on my papers. But now slowly… I am able to slowly capture what’s in my mind. More great ideas to come, and more great paintings to show! When I was about done with this picture, one piece of my hair fell on the paper. As usual I was about to brush it away, but then, hmm, this looks interesting! So I wash out the brush immediately, and painted a yellow ribbon along my piece of hair. Ah, the painting is now balanced.

“Make a wish towards the light” 8” x 10” Watercolor (no ink, no salt, no alcohol, no masking fluids) The darker the shadow, the brighter the light. Make a wish toward it, and may all your hopes and dreams come true… A while back, I painted a small painting of a single dandelion. A lovely lady purchased it and told me it reminds her of her childhood. But here’s me, I can forget about that painting, I was pretty proud of that painting, and still am today. I challenged myself painting a dandelion without using salt, masking fluids and all those fancy stuff, but only with my brush and my watercolor. I haven’t seen anyone paint dandelion like mine, so I definitely going call this MINE. So proud, and I am in love with my dandelions. Morning light, perfect temperature, still some condensation, water reflecting… take a deep breath, fresh, satisfying…magnifying her beauty. Isn’t the colors vibrant? Recently I was invited to join @zenartsupplies world watercolor month event to teach a lesson on the 25th of July. And so I got one of their products and will be using it during the LIVE lesson on the 25th. This is the ZenART Allegro Travel Watercolor Paint Set, surprisingly super vibrant colors, and also very easy to get the colors from the pans. Perfect for beginners. For a try out, I used their flat brush and this paint set to paint this floral. What do you think??!
