Been binging on Hidden love, a Chinese drama lately and it's actually soo cute that my brain is malfunctioning. For my first Cdrama, I believe it's a good start. This was a friend's suggestion and it's living upto the expectations as of now.
I was actually a little irked by how young the kid Sang Zhi looks though. Like her younger self is a 14 year old teen but the girl looks no older than 8 in my eyes and i would have maybe dropped the show on the very first episode if not for Duan Jiaxu's angelic face and smile. But sticking with the show has been worth it coz it keeps getting cuter.
Duan Jiaxu is at this point a neon green flag and he somehow keeps on getting greener every episode. I really don't know how that is possible. I am half way through and that boy is just too nice a person till now. And the kind of nice where you know that the person has a good heart, like they are not doing it to show anything or make someone like them. They are just warm. No wonder Shang Zhi fell so hard because it's kinda impossible to not fall for him.
Tumblr media
Angelic, indeed.
Sang Zhi is a sweetheart as well and her first heart break felt so personal even though you could understand the situation. She really conveys how it feels to have that first crush. I can't wait for these two to finally get together now and be the absolute perfect couple that they would be.
I have another favourite as of now, in the form of Mr Sang Yan. I believe he is the most accurate and wholesome representation of an older brother that i have seen lately. A complete goofball who will tease his sister to death but will hold her while she cries and tell her that he has her back at all times. The literal best, I am not even kidding. I am truly blown by how real his character feels and how much of an impact he has made with the screen time that he has. He is again someone who is just genuinely nice, and it's clear in the way that he treats his family and his friends.
Tumblr media
Some really good representation of men, to be honest. And a really good representation of how puppy love feels. That first crush, the first time someone makes your heart feel all warm. It's painfully sweet and i am truly in for the ride.
**Sharing something other than totnt and my baby boy Rangie for the first time here. Feels weird. But well, I binge a lot and slowly, this is just going to be my space to talk about all my fandom loves.**

I have been a big fan of both "Hidden Love: Can't Be Concealed" and "Eternal Love/First Frost" for a long long time. I've read both novels multiple times, I am so greatly looking forward to the Hidden Love cdrama that is rumored to release this july and I'm actively following both manhwas. 10/10 stories would bash my head to suffer memory loss from brain damage just to read both stories all over again.
And my favorite character is Sang Yan. I loved him in Hidden Love so damn much and when I read Eternal Love I just loved him x100 more. And his illustrations DEAR GOD THE ILLUSTRATIONS!!
Hidden Love Sang Yan you're dear in my heart. You were the first one I saw and one I'll always cherish
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But by god if Eternal Love Sang Yan isn't the finest man to walk on this forsaken world! Look at him!! LOOK AT THIS MAN! I would pay to have man like this if it wasn't considered prostitution (which is funny considering the novel😂)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
HE'S SO HOT! AND LOYAL AND KIND AND RESPECTFUL!!! AND A GREAT BIG BROTHER AND BEST FRIEND!! LITERALLY THE MAN EVER

Yan! Azul Ashengrotto x (GN!)reader drabble
Wrote this for fun, I want to write longer things with more story but this is just a test to see how it will do. Characters are in their 20s in this.
Azul can't deny that feeding on the naivety of fools doesn't make him feel any sense of peace anymore. He's been in this rodeo for far too long to be able to feel glee from it. By now, it's just the way of his life. Every soul that's been signed off to him has no real meaning to him, just another gain of income.
But then there was you. Every once in a while, there's a clever one who doesn't fall for his tricks. Not even those satisfy him anymore. However, you're worth much more than them. You aren't just a game. No, you're the reward.
He needs power over you, control. He has everybody in the Mostro Lounge right under his hand, except you. No, you play here with your own free will. When you first offered to perform on the stage and sing a little song, Azul didn't attest to it. He knew you sang beautifully, and he knew customers would come flocking in to hear your Melody.
But now he isn't content with you just simply singing. He pays you, yes. You respect him, yes. But it's not enough. This is his club for sevens sake! So of course, he sends his two little helpers to watch over you. To find anything he could use against you.
However, he didn't expect to be slapped in the face when he tried to pull his golden strings. He doesn't understand how you could be this rude to him; he allows you to perform in his club, you're allowed drinks for free, and you get paid! The disrespect is blasphemous. He expected much greater from you.
After your brutal refusal to sign his contract, he allows you to keep performing. Yet, who could you turn to when the cost of your shabby apartment goes up? Oh? So you want a raise? That's rather unfortunate for you, isn't it? That's too bad though, because you missed a key at your latest performance, he can't reward lazy work! Run along now and go get ready, you're up in 30 minutes!
It's amusing watching you show up every night, barely able to keep up like you used to. Word around town is you're sleeping in your car now, and couldn't afford to buy a new apartment. He can't help but notice the glares you've given him through your tired eyes. You know this is his work, but there isn't much you can do about it. Every other job you've gotten has declined you, this is your only option.
He tries once again to help you out, and get you on your feet. But no? You refuse him again. That's okay, hell see you tomorrow! After this, he sends a certain eel with an eye for danger after you.
News breaks down about the person who barely escaped their car when it was set on fire. The wiring was messed with and the brakes wouldn't budge on their way to work. Another car t-boned the passenger side; shooting the victim's car into an electricity pole. The car was set on fire, and the victim barely made it out. But whatever luck they had appeared and allowed them to see another day.
After this mess, you're rushed into the hospital. Your throat is stinging and the doctors inform you that the ash and smoke from the fire caught into your throat. A surgery has to take place for you to ever be able to sing or talk normally again. On top of that, many of your cracks are in the process and another surgery will be needed.
However, the cost of these surgeries is too much. You won't even be able to afford to buy another car. But in all his glory, Azul steps into your hospital room and requests a moment alone for you. This will be the last time he asks you to sign a contract, for him to be able to give your voice and ability to move again with any surgery costs. If you refuse, he'll have to fire you though, what use is a singer without a voice?
Ecstasy fills him when he can see you give up, the fire in your eyes drizzling down. A tight smile tugs at his lips when you sign the best you can. A few seconds after you sign, a golden glow emits the room and you can feel yourself healing drastically. All it took was to allow him to control your voice, but keep it inside you. And of course, complete control over you.
Don't worry about a raise! You won't need it. His little siren will be living under his care, he always needs to keep his possessions in today's conditions!

In Hindsight 🎼 bonus chapter: "in bitterness comes fruit"
notes. cw: takes place in ch. 11, drinking (as I stated before, all characters are legal), a little bit of angst, slightly rushed, open ending until the chapter 12.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The sound of glasses clinking together resonate throughout the restaurant Aether has picked. You look around, it seemed like every other exhausted university student had the same idea as your group.
"No anything over budget, else I will punch you in the nose." Aether quipped, giving Lumine a glaring side-eye beside him to which she responds with a shrug.
All of you went over budget, perhaps just a wee bit.
Maybe 60 dollars over the set limit...
By the end of it, everyone except Xinyan was already slurring their sentences in alcoholic bliss. Aether and Lumine was singing a duet to a song in humurously horrible way, whilst you only obnoxiously laugh at their antics which was enough to revertebrate through the walls of the restaurant. A few sober customers look your group's booth way in concern while the slightly tipsy ones silently cheer.
Xinyan could only sigh at the sight of this mess, she wasn't sure how she was going to get all three of you in the car without trouble because even you were drunk.
She feels a tap on her shoulder, it was you. Xinyan notes the slight pink that dusted over your cheeks and the tips of your ears.
" 'Yan, my baby..." you tipsily drag your words, cradling her soft cheeks with your hands and pulling them slightly. "I'm sorryy.."
Xinyan quirks an eyebrow up in confusion, a smile on her face "For what, (Name)?"
You pout slightly in reply, your eyes lowering as if in shame, "Turns out [hic] I haven't got that much time left."
Your best friend was still confused by the time you provided an answer, "Time for what? What's going on?"
"Wah... my condition got worse." You sigh defeatedly. Xinyan's eyes widen, her face immediately dropping to a half panicked, half crestfallen expression. She doesn't dare say anything.
How could she have not noticed? All the times you had to excuse yourself to go to sleep early. All the times you always came along with your friend group's shenanigans despite looking like a ghost who just crawled out of a demon's asscrack. Those were all tell-tale signs she wishes she could've seen earlier. Xinyan doesn't want to ask how much you have left. She gets sick at the thought, she knows she won't feel good to always count down the days until one of her favorite people was gone.
Xinyan tries to muster a forced smile despite her thoughts, "I think that's enough to drink for today. I'll call Kunikuzushi to help you out." The girl mentally prays that Kunikuzushi won't bite her for this, for calling at almost midnight to pick up her dying friend. She whips out her phone and dials Kunikuzushi's number.
When Xinyan hears a click from the other line, she doesn't give him much time to greet the phone.
"Hi, it seems that your patient and friend here has gotten shit-faced drunk. I'm gonna need you to come pick her up since I got two other drunken headaches to take care of."
Xinyan gets fidgety over the silence on the other line, Kunikuzushi has always scared him even if she had no reason to.
"Send your location, I'll be there in ten." He bluntly replies before the call ends with a beep. Xinyan pulls the phone away from her ear to see you having a wrestling contest with Aether and somehow, Lumine. She purses her lips at the sight, wondering if you would've ever told the group if you were sober.
When Kunikuzushi pulls up on the street in front of the restaurant, he gets out and bursts through the double glass doors of the entrance, immediately searching for you. His eyes scan the tables until they land on your sunken form in one seat, your head rested on Lumine's shoulder as the twins and you sang a few songs off-tune. His initially panicked expression drops into a softened one at the sight. You were okay, and that's all that mattered.
To him, as a medical practitioner, of course. Nothing more.
The young man makes his way to your table and meets Xinyan's exhausted expression,
"Take them, I need to drive the twins back." She sighs as she places a few bills on the table to pay for the meal and slinging the arms of the twins on her shoulder.
His eyes widen, "What?" He wasn't sure what ge felt about the proposal. "Would they be okay with it? I mean it's not everyday people take their... actually, nevermind." He breathes dejectedly.
"Come on, (Name)." Kuni says as if he's a nagging parent.
You look up at him with a flushed face, obviously still drunk before breaking into a toothy grin, "Kuni! You're here!" He feels you wrap your arms around his neck to encase him in a tight hug. The guy feels his face heat up almost instantly, thanking the archons that Xinyan has already left you two by the booth and therefore, he has no witnesses to whatever embarrassing expression he was sporting at the moment. He smells the dizzying scent of the alcohol you had earlier and scrunches his face a little in distaste.
"Let go," Kunikuzushi groans but he would be lying if he said he relished in the feeling of a warm embrace, your warm embrace. "I need to get you home so you don't empty your dinner on me, damn."
When he slings your arm around his shoulder, you take a moment to adore his features and blurt out something that makes his heart jump.
"You're so pretty, Kuni. Do you know that?" You say with a small laugh, tracing your free hand on his nose as the both of you walkes. He swears he could hear his heart explode.
It shouldn't be his reaction, though.
You shouldn't be making him feel like this, though.
This was getting bad, he needed to drive you home safely. One more second of being with you in your tipsy state, he would've started rethinking everything.

synopsis. You are a singer-songwriter. Music has always been a part of you, it's a part of your identity that no one can ever take away. However, there's always a catch: you are diagnosed with a chronic illness that puts your life on a timer. Those who have heard your countless melodies have grown to notice that the notes on the sheet played a gloomier tune. Would the snarky and capable medical student you've met be able to bring life back into these melodies? Even as life begins to seep out of your own body? (scaramouche x gn!reader)

Drama rec masterlist | Drama rant thread (beware of spoilers)
Tumblr media
(I watched this while on my exercise bike, so that’s why there’s no drama rant for this drama (but I would have been absolutely freaking out if there was one)).
The first thing I want to address is the age gap between the characters, something I was very wary about when first starting out the drama - I think using a younger actress in the first few episodes while still using the same male lead made it a lot worse than it actually was too - but it still took a little convincing to root for this couple. Which is also why I didn’t really take the drama that seriously at first, it was just something Netflix had recommended and a drama that could be sort of cute to watch while I got some exercise.
I want to refer to this post by teaandsojupod, because I think they really made a great point. Yes there is an age difference that might make some people raise an eyebrow, but that is the point and the drama is well aware of this fact. It is addressed multiple times throughout the drama - both the lead characters have their own thoughts and worries about the age gap, and they discuss this with their friends and family. Nothing is done without thought and care, and they both take their time to reflect on their feelings for the other before making a move.
What I love the most about their relationship, is how they always take the time to communicate their thoughts and feelings to the other, so there is no room for misunderstandings. They never hide their worries from each other - and even if they try to because they don’t want to worry the other, they know each other so well that they notice immediately and support each other through it. They protect each other in their own way and I love to see it. This is everything I want to see in a healthy romance and more. And the actors have amazing chemistry.
Other than the fantastic romance, I want to list a couple of points that only made the drama even better:
The sibling energy between Sang Zhi and her big brother is everything
The friendships in this drama are everything
The actors are all phenomenal
The writing / story is actually good and feels natural
I really did not expect to like this drama as much as I did, but it just made me smile so much, and I even ended up binging the last couple of episodes off the bike because I couldn’t wait to see how it ended.
This is a drama that I will definitely be comparing future romance dramas to in terms of how much I like the couple. We don’t need every male lead to be a rich prince on a white horse, sometimes they can be just a normal dude with normal real-life struggles.
Yes, there are some things they maybe gloss over a little bit (some b-plot with Sang Zhi’s friends, how the whole thing with Jiaxu’s past got resolved, Sang-zhi’s parents), but I really don’t think it takes away that much from the central story.
Highly recommended watch!

I think my favorite thing about the early parts of Thousand Autumns is how continually and thoroughly Yan Wushi underestimated Shen Qiao every time he puts Shen Qiao in a Situation. Like, if Yan Wushi didn't have his jesd so far up his ass, he should have realized from this first encounter that Shen Qiao had a will of iron and an undeterrable moral compass: if Shen Qiao with zero martial arts, no memory, and blind, would stand up to him, why did Yan Wushi ever suppose anything else he did would sway him? And yet he so thoroughly persists in believing everyone is evil that he just can't keep from pushing and pushing and pushing.
Yet even when Shen Qiao is given to Sang Jingxing he still will never become what Yan Wushi expects.
I just. I love them okay? They're such interesting characters.
(I'm interested what people who've only seen the donghua will think of the differences, like this firsr plot line is very different.)
(Note that I've read the whole book so my liveblog for Thousand Autumns will probably be sparse and will include spoilers for well past what's available right now.)

I have a Doylean theory about why they had Liu Sang be the snide little asshole he starts out as in Reunion.
(Quick note: Doylean means the theory relates to what the writers intended when they did something. Just as Watsonian is what a thing means internal to the world it occurs in.)
Spoilers below
So, Liu Chang has already been in one DMBJ series, as Wang Can, who we see die (or at least appear to die) at the end of Sand Sea. Then he shows up again in the side story for Sand Sea as the somewhat snide but definitely good-guy Liu Sang.
Now the side stories don't have anything to do with Sand Sea, and don't necessarily fit into Wu Xie's adventures at all. But Liu Chang does an excellent job as Mr. Competent and that may be why they signed him on to play Liu Sang again in Reunion.
Whatever the reason, now they had an actor who played in an earlier drama as one of the (hyper-competent) villains. Do they acknowledge that? Do they ignore it? There's going to be questions, that much is certain.
So I think, maybe, the writers decided to USE that question as a plot device. Have this dead-ringer for a dead man come in and behave in a way that leaves the viewers wondering. Is he another villain? Is he Wang Can, returned for vengeance? Is he Wang Can's twin and a Wang himself? Who is he and why the hell is he such a Green Tea Bitch to our beloved Wu Xie?
And, for that matter, is he really Xiaoge's little fan or is all of that, from tattoo to attention seeking, part of an act as he waits for the moment to turn? After all, we know there's a spy. He even claims to BE the spy. Maybe he's an enemy after all.
Except, of course, he isn't. He's a red-haired herring, there to confuse the issue. And, at heart, whether he's Wang Can, Wang Can's twin (I've read NPSS says he is) or no relation whatsoever, he's Team Iron Family, no matter how much he argues with Big Brother Pangzi.
And that's my theory, for what little it's worth.
