hi em :) 🍎🍏 pls !!
Heyyy Rose!!! Thanks sm for the ask <33
🍎: Is there anything you straight-up won’t write?
Tbh I can’t think of anything that I wouldn’t write no matter the circumstances. If I had to pick something I think probably non-con, I could never see myself writing it in a sexual way/in smut… but at the same time I’m not entirely opposed to touching on the trama and impact of sexual assault if it fit in a fic I was writing. I think I’m a lot more open to writing about most topics opposed to reading them (but that’s more cause of personal shit) but anywho ig as of right now I’m not super interested in writing any form of a/b/o either so that could be my answer. As far as ships go there also aren’t really any I could say that I won’t ever write cause when I first got into the fandom I wasn’t a Jegulus stan and look at me now 👀
🍏: Is there something you overuse, whether it’s a certain phrase, trope, or piece of punctuation?
Ik there is some stuff I overuse loads but I can’t put my finger on what exactly that would be,,, I think I use commas a lot so maybe that, I try not to use reoccurring phrases unless I deem it relevant/important/impactful to the story yk,,, as far as tropes go at least in ttwns I have multiple forbidden 3am calls (but I’ve only posted one of the chapters including this so far) and I just write a fuck ton of Jegulus, I would love to expand and write something focused more on a different ship (especially a wlw ship, pandalily had been on the mind a lot recently and I love them) but as of rn all of my works, both completed, wip, and upcoming are Jegulus-centric so idk,,, I do have a bit of an issue with run on sentences tho, like more often than not I can’t for whatever reason write a short sentence that I like and am willing to include in my writing :)

had the unique experience today of being lucky enough to win a plush kirby prize in an ichiban kuji that is Perfect for holding on my lap while I watch things on my laptop, while the something that I was in the midst of watching today was the seemingly most R-rated show netflix has to offer
this on its own is not much of an issue, except for the fact that due to this plush's design and how i had my hands folded over it it looks like kirby is watching along as well, leading to a particularly fascinating contrast in media consumption- here's a visual aid I put together demonstrating this phenomenon:

i think i wouldn’t hate disco elysium’s collage mode nearly as much if it weren’t for 1) the way that it was marketed in such a tasteless, soulless manner, let alone the fact that it was a last ditch distraction from a dead on its feet studio piloted by dumbass thieving execs and released on the day of the court declaration, and 2) those dumbass fucking stickers
like if it had been included with the base game from the start and had been titled something a bit more tasteful and in-line with how i would have liked the feature to be marketed as— something like “exploration mode”, something that perhaps could only be unlocked after completing the game for the first time, AND didn’t have those stupid as hell visually and tonally incongruent with the artstyle stickers, i would have applauded it as a nice little bonus for being able to study and appreciate the 3d models and environments for reference.

the thing is, like, imogen is blunt, and indecisive, and impulsive. she's cynical, angry at the world, and seemingly much less interested in doing good than in holding on to her loved ones. she's hypocritical, incredibly violent one moment and horrified at the prospect the next. she's passive aggressive, on occasion. she's overly critical. she's scatterbrained.
and all of that stuff is very fucking fascinating, and so fun to watch, and core to what makes her her. but not only are those things not the totality of imogen as a character, they're very much inextricable from the things that make her sympathetic.
imogen has spent much of the last decade of her life in pain, and isolated because of it. when she wasn't alone she couldn't relax, having to keep tight control over her mind so as to not get overwhelmed or invade the privacy of others. because even through all that pain and loneliness, she still bore the responsibility not to impose on other people's minds. and when she fails or slips up or gives in, all of the distrust and suspicion she recieves regardless is suddenly viewed as justified.
which is not to say imogen is not responsible for her actions, or the harm she causes others. of course she is! no one is saying she isn't! but, just like literally every other person, her actions don't exist in a void but within the context of both her past and present.
analyzing that context and coming up with explanations of her behavior that consider it is not excusing her actions or refusing to acknowledge her flaws. it is not coddling imogen to sympathize with her even when she's fucking up. these are pretty standard ways to discuss a character you enjoy actually! it's weird that having a nuanced perspective on a character's actions is being treated as an issue!

In the assigned married fic, has Anakin even begun to process Padme saying that both of them will be moving to Naboo together? Like, they spoke earlier in the chapter about Anakin moving in with her on Coruscant, but Obi-Wan apparently spilled the beans about a much more permanent relocation to Naboo, and I am looking forward to Anakin's response to that, once he gets through processing everything else and remembers that part of the "conversation"....
i think padmé views moving to naboo more as a possibility than a future concrete plan -- the offer to be a permanent advisor on naboo is something she'd like to discuss with anakin as her husband before taking it or rejecting it. she says there's a lot of work she still wants to do in the senate, and she's probably thinking that it will be a few years before she would be able to go anyway. definitely after the war, but in her mind, she thinks anakin has every intention to leave the order after the war's over....because he kind of told her that. at least, in her mind he did: (from chapter 1)
“[Obi-Wan] asked me if I planned to leave the Order after the war,” he tells his wife. “And I lied, and then I think he began to support me. That’s what he looked like, anyway.”
Padmé blinks at him, eyelashes falling slowly onto the jut of her cheek and then rising. “That’s good then,” she says, sounding hesitant. “That he supports us.”
“Yeah,” Anakin replies, raising his hand to tuck a tendril of hair behind her ear.
“Though…I’m sorry you had to lie,” she says, pressing forward until their faces are only a hand’s width apart. “Hopefully…” she trails off, biting her lip. Then she shakes her head slightly, and her mouth turns up into a smile as if she cannot help herself. “Hopefully he will not take the truth so hard.”
so anakin never says what lie he told obi-wan, he just says that he lied when asked if he was going to leave the Order, and that lie made obi-wan support him.
from an outsider's perspective, especially a biased outsider who is married to one of the insiders and believes them to have a future together, padmé's immediate understanding of this is that obi-wan asked if he was going to leave the order and anakin lied to him and told him he planned to stay and obi-wan began to support their marriage because he thinks he won't be losing anakin (padmé, who has three braincells, has long since realized obi-wan's obsessed with her husband)
and that's why she's smiling at the end (and also why they have sex at the fade to black) -- she believes anakin has just told her that when the war ends, he'll leave the Order to be with her and build a future together <3 so the offer to go to naboo is an option she can talk to her husband about, but she knows that anakin is going to no longer be a jedi....and if he's not a jedi, and she's not a senator....what's keeping them on coruscant?
BUT it's not just obi-wan that's feeling a bit catty during that dinner party scene, so i intentionally wrote padmé as putting this idea forward as less of a possibility and more of a done deal that she knows anakin will accept -- she talks about it like it's great big BACK OFF signs picketed around anakin because obi-wan is the biggest threat to their marriage in the entire galaxy and she's always known that
(but also no anakin has not begun to process that whole thing - but padmé, who now realizes they're NOT on the same page, is absolutely going to bring it up post-haste in the next chapter)
