Rewatching old Coluche interviews. Loved the whole "Since politicians act like comedians I figured a comedian might try to be a politician"
For more context he was a French comedian whose "character" was a drunk laborer. It was a lot of dark humor. In 1981 he put his name in the presidential elections just to push things around a bit and was actually a pretty popular choice which surprised a lot of ppl. He got a lot of backlash too and since he didn't actually want the job and actually got to do what he wanted (push topics which weren't really talked about like Aids, racism, poverty, ect...), he dropped out. He died in 1986. A lot of the interviews during the campaigns and after are pretty great.
He also created an organisation to redistribute food to ppl because it wasn't normal to die of hunger in a rich country called "Les Restos du Cœur" (he'd have hated that it's now partially helped by the government because the point was that the government should have prevented it from happening in the first place)
