The dragon "tail" is a line of hair trailing a cyromancer's spine, similar to a boar or hyena. Not all modern cryomancers have it, but when they do it is usually faint. They do not have an actual tail.

Long, split tongue and large canines.

Both males and females grow facial hair, but the females are usually sparser and limited to the chin.

Major scales are larger and have a black outline, while minor scales are smaller and cover most of the body.

Sub-Zero:

There's literally two of him, so it's impossible to hate him completely. "Wow, Sub Zero is such a dick" nah man that's just Bi Han, the other Sub Zero is nicer. Depending on the Subs, he's either trying to get some hot demon lady or he's a little gay with his brother's killer, love life of the ages. He does so much cool shit with his ice!!! The ice arms in some of the games, the different weapons, the little snowflakes, all awesome. His spine rip fatality literally helped invent the game rating system. Everyone say thank you Sub Zero we all love you so much.

Aokiji:

-He can freeze entire oceans. -He fought a magma guy and together they changed permanently the climate of an island with half the island becoming a frozen region with ice mountains. -The same guy took his leg, so now he makes a prosthetic leg with ice that melts after a while and he rebuilds it over and over.

MK1 Bi-Han's ice powers

Sub-Zero: You aren't as scared as you should be, sorcerer. Shang Tsung: Why should I fear a second-rate cryomancer?

Normally I would be very offended on Bi-Han’s behalf for anyone to imply his skills are second-rated but considering 

the possibility this opinion could come from Titan Shang Tsung and 

how downplayed the supernatural powers feel to be in story mode alone

I’m willing to give Shang Tsung the benefit of doubt. MK1!Bi-Han shows some nice control over ice, as he shape it in various weapons

and can immobilize someone with freezing blast (and yes, I remember all Lin Kuei held back during the test for Raiden and Kung Lao)

or ice skid

but compared to original cryomancers and skills included in previous story modes?

The full-body ice teleport?

Freezing people wholly?

Making the combo of ice slide + ice weapon + freezing enemy?

And though it may not be strictly related to cryomancer skills and just cryomancer strenght and brutality, the ripping someone's spine solely to hit Scorpion's in the face with it?

I love all versions of Bi-Han but the MK1's one is for sure something different compared to the original Sub-Zero brothers.

❄Things about Cryomancers❄

Summary: headcanons about cryomancer lore, characteristics, etc., a little bit of canon stuff at the beginning

Pre-MK11 ret-con: cryomancer lineages originate in Earthrealm, and cryomancy is seen as an elder god's blessing; several populations around the world, with those in Lin Kuei being the most powerful.

Post-MK11 ret-con: cryomancer lineages originate from ancient Outworld (Edenian) bloodlines that are exiled to Earthrealm; one such group of cryomancers that was drawn to the colder climate of Arctika founded the Lin Kuei.

The old Lin Kuei monitored every single cryomancer outside the clan they could possibly find, mainly using them to keep the gene pool strong.

^ However, female cryomancers were considered "weak" by the Lin Kuei, and were seen beneficial if they had sons with the cryomancer gene (Hydro's mother for example); male cryomancers on the other hand were subsequently taken into the clan.

Cryomancers have heightened senses of touch; it helps them decipher how powerful they make their coldness and its products (weapons, ice-balls, etc.)

Underdeveloped cryomancer abilities are not unheard of, but are uncommon; Hydro is a prime example of this, whereas Rain is an actual hydromancer and not a cryomancer.

Have very slow metabolisms and do not need to eat as often as average humans, but still need to eat as much, quantity wise; Bi-Han holds the record of any Lin Kuei to go the longest without food during a mission, which was 32 days.

Cryomancers have a limit to how much heat they can stand, but it varies from person to person; around 65-70° F is the average tapping out point.

MUST hydrate 24/7 to keep their bodies cool and heighten their abilities.

Sharper and longer cuspids (canine teeth); ancient cryomancer diets were mostly carnivorous. Bi-Han and Hydro have more noticable fangs than Kuai Liang and Frost do.

Most abilities are strongly based around emotions, more with feelings of happiness, sadness, and anger; these mainly manifest in the form of icicles and frost, either on the cryomancer's body or their surroundings.

Each cryomancer has their own unique ice crystal (snowflake) pattern formation; its sort of like fingerprints, no two cryomancers are able to create the same pattern.

Seemingly have their own 'climate' that can alter the spaces around them; some cryomancers have more noticeable 'cold auras' than others, like Bi-Han.

Pure-blood cryomancers are extremely rare in the modern day; Bi-Han, Kuai Liang, Hydro, and Frost are all half-cryomancer. The Sub-Zeroes' grandfather (aka 1st Sub-Zero) and their father were pure-blood cryomancers, and so was Hydro's mother.

Cryomancers tend to be larger (taller, bulkier) than the average human; Hydro (6' 7") and Bi-Han (6' 5") were absolute units. Kuai Liang (5'11"-6'0) and Frost (5'6") are (sorta) exceptions, but both are still very powerful.

Couldn't sleep so I made a new Mortal Kombat OC using this picrew

His name is Flurís, skilled and powerful cryomancer.

Long ago when Sindel ruled with her husband, Jerrod, Flurís was an advisor and protector to Sindel and her husband and their young daughter Kitana and was close to the family, especially to Sindel.

Many questioned Flurís and his intent, spreading many malicious rumors that he was planning to secretly and discreetly take over the Kingdom, since he influenced many of Queen Sindel's decisions and had a high standing with the cryomancer community.

Flurís was then framed, when a cryomancer assassin attempted to take Sindel and Kitana's lives. Flurís was believed to have orchestrated the attack and King Jerrod wanted him sentenced to death, but, Queen Sindel sensed truth in her old friend's eyes but continued to banish him and all of the other cryomancers out of Edenia and into Outworld.

The Cryomancers were then hunted down and almost exterminated by Shao Khan, after he had taken over Edenia and merged it with all of Outworld. Some escaped into Earthrealm with the help of the Spatiomancers. Unable to cope with all of the loss he had experienced and feeling unable to protect what was left of the once abundant cryomancer population, Flúris sealed himself inside of an ice crystal, never to be found.

Thousands years later, Flurís' crystal was discovered by explorers and was taken to be presented as the "greatest preserved corpse" they had ever seen and even tried to break him out of the ice but were unsuccessful.

When news of Flurís' crystal broke, Johnny Cage happened to mention it, showing a picture to the rest of the special forces, including Raiden, who happened to recognize Flurís as Sindel's old advisor, who he had thought perished when Shao Khan took over. Raiden immediately suggested that they go rescue his body, which was being shown off like a spectacle, Raiden deeming in disrespectful.

When his crystal came into possession of the Special Forces, Raiden still sensed life with the crystal and tried to free Flurís, even having Liu Kang try to melt the ice, only to discover that Flurís put a special curse on the crystal that only permitted other cryomancers to break the ice. So they contacted the only (sane) cryomancer they knew. Kuai Liang.

Kuai Liang accepted to free this cryomancer with little hesitation, shattering the ice with an ice sword flawlessly. Flurís immediately opened his eyes and sat up, looking immediately in Kuai Liang's direction. He smiled at Kuai Liang and reached out for him before passing out in the grandmaster's arms.

Days later, He woke up and immediately requested to see Kuai Liang, ignoring the miso soup, rice and tea in front of him, wanting to know how many of their people survived, only to be disappointed when he was told that a small handful of them were left. A very small handful. He immediately broke down in tears, blaming himself, wishing to put himself back in the ice but Kuai Liang wouldn't let him, saying that he'll get through this and that he shouldn't run and hide anymore.

After telling his story to everyone and his situation, how he was framed and banished from Edenia by Sindel, how they were hunted like dogs by Shao Kahn and how only a small hundred of them made it to Earthrealm, he decided to stay with Kuai Liang for a moment at the Lin Kuei Palace, to tell him the history of their people, forgotten Cryomancer techniques and much more, so that Kuai Liang could be in touch with his roots.

He eventually departed on his own quest to find the remaining descendants of Cryomancers, hoping to form a community again, often returning to the Lin Kuei Palace for Kuai Liang's help with clues and navigating the modern world, the two eventually becoming close, with Flurís eventually falling in love with the other man because of his kindness and their connection, but not knowing if Kuai Liang would ever reciprocate his feelings.

No longer, that porch remains caved, forever permeated with ferrous sanguine, rusted chains beneath the bony starlight reflecting the irreversible legacy Hanzo Hasashi was meant to sculpt as Scorpion, the Shirai Ryu best. 

Body and Soul, they all dwell in lonely places, but both Kuai Liang and he exemplifies the solemn, vestigial grace and regality of Edenians once flocked the land eons before them. Their histories riddled with human memories and tearful, tragic lore, yet how they have rendered them fearless and obstinate, resistant against the inevitable calamity that is tenebrous darkness and merciless evil. 

“The history of the Lin Kuei Temple is not exactly a complete unknown to me. However, I gainsay the irony which does not do justice towards the human abode which is Lin Kuei and its dedicated, hardworking Grandmaster.” Hate no longer fills Hanzo Hasashi’s world like blood into a damp soil. Now, they are irreversibly tied by the indestructible eternity; beyond death and nonexistence. For him, to love is to even open the forbidden door, the passageway that takes him to the other side of time to conquer the black chasm that burns and bleeds, ripping through the state of naught. 

The resolute intensity of the Grandmaster’s blazing chestnut eyes emanate heatwaves of warmth, akin to the sunlight laying upon one like a burning blanket. The comfort of warmth may come with it, but the warmth of defiant defense towards the Lin Kuei Grandmaster stirs him with a new vigor and eternal love. “All that matters is Kuai Liang’s burning intensity towards rebuilding his clan’s ruined reputation and loyalty came with what only a bleeding heart can muster.
