My Predictions for the Party Secrets

Bishop Raphaniel Charlock: Initial theory was that he was a heretic who didn’t believe in the bulbian. New theory as of ep. 2 is that he is a bulbian! He has visions of the Hungry One. Visions described as “horrible”. I believe these are either visions sent by the Hungry One, insanity, or prophecy. He believes in the Ramsian Doctrine, which is a heretic belief. He’s not a cleric because he’s not a good enough person to be bulbian. Also, according to the last clip of the episode, Raphaniel is pretty confident he’s going to the bulbian equivilant of hell. His visions might be of his personal fate.

Colin Provolone: He’s an ex-noble! Spurrned by the throne or targetted by the coup. He’s afraid of attention, he can’t go back to the dairy isles, and is very insistant that he’s never had any title (making sure the others knew he wasn’t important, his first statement being “I’ve never had a title” to being named Skald). I believe it’s most likely he was targetted by the coup. Didn’t want to tell Raphaniel about his past. He is very loyal to Deli within a short amount of time. Deli who comes from a clan of fierce warriors who could protect him if needed, Deli who is a royal and could theoretically grant Colin a boon.

Karna: Warlock of the Hungry One. Watch episode 2, it is not subtle to the audience. She also probably killed the old spymaster. She’s got so many possible secrets. She probably pulled some other shit to be a 14 y/o spymaster.

Queen Amangeaux Epicée du Peche: My initial theory was that she had cheated on her husband or done something to marry him in the first place (it’s implied she’s from a low ranking noble house, would she really be the first in line to marry the king of vegetania). I thought she may have a child from before she was married to the king that would have jeapordized her standing. Revising that theory with the ep. 2  reveals, I think she still may have cheated. Her baby was a wine grape. Her husband was a cardoon. Cardoons are a type of artichoke.

Thane Delissandro Katzon: He was extremely unsubtle about his secret. He’s dating someone he shouldn’t be. I don’t believe it’s his aunt, but she is much older than him and someone who was apart of his grandfather’s court.

Karna and Amangeaux having a class struggle, it's so real cause Karna has had to work sm this campaign and it's made her hardened while Amangeaux hasn't had to do as much to keep her power (she did have to marry someone she did not love and hide her baby showing that even in her powerful position she still has to hide and minimize herself) and that's why Amangeaux feels like she can leave. She feels like she can escape because she didn't work for it, but Karna did. Karna is watching not just Amangeaux leave but her time and work.

Karna is such an interesting character to me, most notably because of her AGE

She was SO young when the war started. Younger still when she was thrown into a life of subterfuge and secrecy and disguise. Who knows how young she was when she devoted herself to a deity(?) that represented absolute destruction?

that has GOT to have an effect on one's psyche. in your most developmental years, knowing intimately that your narrative has been doomed from the beginning. how do you find the will to build yourself up from nothing when you know all you will ever survive to see will be foundations at most?

part of me wonders what parts of Karna never got the chance to grow as a result. she never had the time most children get to dream, to explore their identities knowing that the entire world was their oyster. she grew up with the fundamental knowledge that eventually, everything in her past, present, and future would end up as detritus. how does someone put down roots in a soil they know will be washed away? and if they cannot put down roots, how in Calorum do they find the nutrients they need to develop?

karna and amangeaux's relationship absolutely ruins me. they both develop in opposite directions until they converge in the finale. amangeaux's struggle sharpening her until she's stone, keeping herself alive through connection in a literal sense. but karna's life post FDA has been better than anything she's ever known. she's been rotting for as long as she can remember, shes living on borrowed time with the people (mainly deli we're talking about deli here) that she loved. her time is softening her, in both an emotional and a literal sense. by the finale they've effectively gone through opposite arcs. even their designs are extremely similar at this point. by the end they've swapped spots. karna at the softest she's ever been. in a literal sense: her body fully rotting away before her death, and in an emotional sense: confessing her love to deli. trying her best to save the one she cares most about in the best way she knows how. amangeaux continues to harden even after the battle. she shifts into karna's place, slipping in and out of shadows and disguises, running on what she thinks is borrowed time.

its about sisterly love to me. its about looking out for the other in the only way you know how. amangeaux WANTS karna to be soft! she encourages her endeavors with deli! she wants her to build relationships and let down her walls. and the opposite is the same for karna. karna wants amangeaux to toughen up. she wants her to be stronger and more secretive and tougher because thats how she knows she won't get hurt. she wants her to be safe. they both care for one another so much but neither of them understand the depths of the other until the end, when they've experienced it for themselves.
