Aaja Nachle, which in Hindi means 'come, let's dance!' is Hawaii's only Bollywood/bhangra dance troupe, formally founded in September 2012 by Nada McClellan and Sai Bhatawadekar. Known for their infectiously joyful, energetic dancing which inspires everyone to move to the music, Aaja Nachle offers authentic and high-energy performances that fire up a crowd for any occasion such as Indian or Bollywood-themed events, cultural programs, and weddings. They also host and organize Indian dance events in the Honolulu community, choreographing fun, playful dances to Hindi film music, regional Indian folk dances such as Bhangra, Giddha, Dandiya, and Garba, as well as exciting fusion pieces. Aaja Nachle especially loves sharing their enthusiasm for dance and works towards making a creative space in the community through open dance practices and informal dance events for anyone to come and learn and enrich the group with their own talents. Matt Lopez is coming on Saturday to teach YOU a Hip-Hop/Street Styles Master Class. Date: Saturday, 3/19 Time: 10-11:30am Open Level, ages 12- Adult $20 | $15 for students Registered in our Spring Session Class Description: The class starts with a 20-25 minute warm-up that includes strengthening and stretching in order to prevent injury. Lopez would like to establish a class environment where students are not afraid to ask questions. Lopez will break down movements and wants to make sure everyone “gets-it.” The class concludes with a high energy routine that combines elements of b-boying, street jazz, popping, locking and house. ⤵️Learn about the Teaching Artist Matt Lopez has performed with Hillary Duff, Sean Kingston, Wyclef Jean and Nicki Minaj. Matt was the audition facilitator for Nicki Minaj’s debut of her album, “Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded” in Times Square. In 2015, he was chosen as one of the Top 12 Dance Convention teachers in the U.S. by Dance Informa Magazine. Matt is a choreographer for the Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots Cheerleaders. He has taught master classes in Israel, Japan, Barbados, England, the Philippines and Colombia, South America.
