Tried to stay on track for the rewind the tape event by @iwtvfanevents but I’m a binge watcher at heart and could not help but rewatch the entire season in the first week lol :’)
But something I noticed during my rewatch of Episode 6 is the beautiful music playing during this scene, when Louis and Claudia say their goodbyes before Claudia leaves for Europe.
The track is called “Hey Sis You Don’t Need Me” by Daniel Hart, who composed the soundtrack for the show.
Not only was the track lovely and moving, but it was also familiar! It is what plays in Epsiode 5 when Grace and Louis say their goodbyes at the cemetery.
I had to go back and listen again to make sure, but it’s the same tune. Louis saying goodbye to his sisters.
I don’t know if this track appears in other places throughout the show, would love to know if so. This is just a fun thing I hadn’t noticed during my first watch :)
"Recording "Vicious" for Interview With The Vampire Season One, Episode Five at Synchron Stage, Vienna. One of my favorite pieces of music I've written in a long time.
As a violinist who plays a lot of my own parts on my scores, I haven't always been able to trust other violinists to see the architecture of the performance the way I see it. But look at Synchron's Concertmaster Damir Orascanin just slaying those violin solos. An absolute beast. Watching him play gives me life. The whole orchestra killing it, Bernhard conducting the hell out of this piece, shaping what's on paper into something much more.
Shows like Vampire are rare: the amount of trust and positive encouragement coming my way throughout the process, the willingness of the studio to believe in its show runner's vision, allowing us to take some musical risks, some big swings...it's hard to imagine it getting better than Season One was. I feel incredibly lucky that someone gave me this canvas to paint." - Daniel Hart

Hi! So we know lestat making a song for louis with Antionettes voice was to get a reaction from Louis cuz the gifts were not working. But do you think he meant the words?
Oh absolutely.
Like... Come To Me has a surprisingly insightful and reflective text. It shows a level of understanding of/for their relationship that Louis actually tries to deny through his tale (imho - for reasons^^).
As this is more or less the only "real" Lestat part we have this season, that is all the more interesting.
Come to me
And let my ever-loving arms surround you
Come to me
And let my infinite embrace confound you
We′ll mourn each other
Like star-crossed lovers
Your Pelléas, my Mélisande
Oh, come to me
Come to me
Come to me
I get intoxicated by the very air of you
Come to me
I'm so infatuated with the grand affair of you
We'll ruin each other
Like star-crossed lovers
Your Pelléas, my Mélisande
Oh, come to me
Come to me
Come to me
Come to me
I have bolded a few of the lyrics, which I personally find most interesting. There's "surround" - a word which we know Louis uses for Lestat on the record: "Lestat had surrounded me."
Then there is the "confound" - a weird word for an embrace, isn't it. Not entirely positive in its connotations either I'd argue?
"Mourning each other"... quite the statement. It implies that there is awareness that they're hurting each other, and miss the other, and also regret each other.
"Pelléas et Mélisande" is a play, which "treats the familiar triangle of wife, husband and lover, ending with the death of both the wife and the lover at the hands of the husband."
Like... not much more to say to that, is there :)))
And finally... "We'll ruin each other"... another heavy statement. It implies that despite the plea of "Come to me" he knows that they're not exactly good for each other (at least now), but better to have a tragic ending, together, than... not.
We are blessed with another new interview with Daniel Hart (IWTV's composer)
This time he delves more into the thought process behind the score. There are a lot of interesting points and also mentions of the fellow violinist, Nicki.
More highlights on characters below the cut:
(Again, I'm just so glad he knows how we really appreciate his music 😭)
The new trailer is also the one that really reminded me how Daniel Hart is on his way back to fuck up both me and my Spotify Wrapped with another gorgeous heartbreaking soundtrack
