does anyone remember when team salvato had that “for fans by fans” fanart merch contest, but like it had a backstory that monika “wasn’t allowed to participate” cause “she always wins and it would be unfair :(” but like all images of her and mentions of her name were glitched out, and in the background of the promo art there was a piece of paper with her poem “Hole in Wall” mostly erased (and not even in her font asset, just in the neutral/MC handwriting font) so all signs pointed to monika’s file being deleted

but then literally none of that was ever directly acknowledged in the posts or the merch for the contest, or in ddlc+ lore, or on other posts from team salvato’s twitter or monika’s twitter account? so, though it probably wasn’t intended to be lore to begin with, we never got any context for it, even within the constraints of the “backstory” for this specific contest?

Buck Cluck’s Negativian Attacks!

Considering that Disney was founded an entire century ago today… I thought I might as well drop something from my Project Link Up installment Disney Dream Linkage!

And that something is the Negativian form of Buck Cluck, which manifests itself as a bucket of fried chicken.

I got inspired by the Zetsuborg from Go Princess PreCure in general for the Negativians- as both are created when a victim’s dream is locked away.

And those limbs? Definitely taken from The Heartless; which will also be appearing in DDL.

okie dtamhd review/spoilers: it was pretty good but also not great. i think the long dream sequence plays well to reveal how his mind works but i don’t love what’s supposed to be His episode ending with him succeeding in suppressing his emotions. the reason the quarantine episode plays so well is because, obviously, dennis is not actually immune to any of these human sicknesses/feelings, and so he’s forced to confront them. but this ep left off by saying he’s going to keep doing exactly what he’s already been doing? why. plus it portrays the gang as nothing but a stressor to him. idk mac’s episode was abt his journey to accepting his queerness (with a nod to frank being his true family), then charlie’s episode was abt unraveling his troubled childhood (also ending with the realization tht the gang is his true family), so i was hoping for something akin to that ig, esp bc i feel there’s still tension from ddl they never really resolved. idk it’s whatever it was fun, just lacking some of that ‘it’s terrifying to truly care about things because they might break/leave’ energy that make some of his outbursts other so compelling. really it probably should have been about him finally accepting that he’s aging and giving up some of his vanity, then coming back to the gang and mac who don’t give a fuck what he looks like

it's been on private since the existence of the fic cuz i was too lazy to organize it in like. a semi-comprehensive order for the fic but i just did it now cuz i've been meaning to do it forever! here's kind of like a table of contents so to speak of the playlist

song 1: just the namesake of the fic and an amazing description of macdennis's relationship tbh, wanted to start out strong

songs 2-10: i would say this is kind of early macdennis from dennis's pov (highschool through college years probably); lots of confusion and denial and a balance love/hate of mac, he's unable to come to terms with things

song 11: can't forget this one !

songs 12-18: early macdennis (highschool through early college years) from mac's pov; lots of extreme pining and shame and feeling so in love while thinking its unreciprocated

songs 19-22: later seasons macdennis, more toxic

songs 22-26: songs about dennis leaving for north dakota and mac not wanting him to go/dennis wanting mac to tell him to stay but neither of them say anything...season 12 ddl finale vibes/boggs episode

1 2 5 and 9 for toonie for the oc interview thing

Toonie is pretty standard in the department of looks, the most prominent thing that stands out about them the most is the contrasting grey metal plates lining their body as they stand out amongst a much paler in comparison shell.

The only thing hidden from others in their appearance are various other plates underneath their clothing. Besides that they don't have anything else to hide.

Her personality is a mixed bag as most people are, shes not just one set in stone personality type. She has her days where she'll be full of joy, and she has her days where she could be irritable at the drop of a hat.

Getting to know toonie is pretty easy as long as you dont initiate any hostile or negative actions towards her first. She doesn't care for the war against cogs and toons and tries to get along with anyone.

Toonie lives in the boardbot apartments somewhere on the outskirts of DDL (I just needed a location in my head honestly). Her living space is well decorated with many things they enjoy, but to anyone else it might seem slightly cluttered or messy at times.

Some of her flaws consist of the code within her that causes her do to anything asked of her no matter what it is.

She's also heavily touch starved at times and seeks constant attention and affection.

Theres probably more to her but i just cant think of it right now

jimmy is just like. that guy for me. i could probably go on an hours long tirade about him, his films, his characters, his relationships, his military experience, his ptsd, his politics, etc. without interruption. right now i'm specifically thinking of his relationship with henry fonda (who deserves his own honorable mention) which OH MY GOD is one of the best hollywood friendships to date. orson welles said they were either having the hottest affair in hollywood or were the straightest men alive. he realized they were the latter... anyways that leads me into:

old/classic hollywood + its underground queer scene and the hays code.

first of all just old hollywood in general i can go hours and hours about because i just love so many of the actors and actresses. leslie howard and gregory peck are other honorable mentions in that category. however, the queer folks will always be my favorite <3 people like farley granger and marlene dietrich come to mind as well as cary grant and his biwife energy. but just all of the queer undertones from then i just appreciate so, so much. also the HAYS CODE... when i get you... i've seen so many pre-code movies which are just incredible and whenever they put that damn code in place everything got boring... unless they fixed the subtext so then you have films like rope (1948) which is such a good gay film like wtf?? old hollywood is a gem and if you avoid black + white movies or just older movies in general you SUCK!!

franklin expedition.

i've written academic essays about this damn expedition and i had no sources at all. just my mind and a dream. for two years my only thoughts for a future career was becoming a franklin expedition researcher who worked in the arctic. of course that's not gonna work?? okay but these dumb mfers were some of my favorite people on this earth like COMMANDER JAMES FITZJAMES was a real person who walked this earth and i never even got close to touching him. this is sickening. captain francis crozier is ALIVE and WELL on king william island you just cannot see him. i think i will genuinely throw up if they ever find crozier's captain log on the hms terror. the desolation and sickness is just like. eye clawingly scary and i could never fathom what truly went down on that island. i feel so so bad for the cold boys and i love them so, so much.

here’s where i start geekin about shit. FALLOUT IS SO FUCKING GOOD I DONT CARE WHAT ANYONE SAYS. 3, 4 and new vegas are top tier games (yes nostalgia is clouding my head but idc) i also love 1 and 2 but genuinely cannot play a turn based game like that. okay but the entire plot of new vegas is such a top tier storyline and it’s just such a fun silly game and is like made perfectly for gay trans autistic people i love it. 4 is just The Game you play it doesn’t matter you just end up there and it’s always fun idc what the haters say PRESTON GARVEY MINUTEMEN #1!!! 3 is there. BUT ITS SO BAD ITS GOOD LIKE COME ON ITS ALMOST ENDEARING GOING BACK IN THOSE SUBWAY TUNNELS AND GETTING LOST FOR 30 MINUTES!! these games are the only reason i know the layouts of nevada, washington, d.c., and boston. thank you for the geography lesson AND the history lesson fallout. i love you.

civil war politics and battles

ok this is my latest fixation and one that came out of ABSOLUTELY no where. i literally told myself years ago to never become a civil war buff because it's so stupid and only old men like it but here we are. i for real blame this on david straithairn's portrayal of william h seward because otherwise i would NOT care (sorry ddl, i love you still). also atun-shei films and his humongous catalogue of videos. but oh my godddd i'm so obsessed with these annoying fuckers i hate them ALL. lincoln and seward are just an absolute class-act together and whenever i watched gettysburg (1993) it was just over for me. jeff daniels and c thomas howell when I CATCH YOU (I Want You)!!! it's just all so interesting i love seeing how these men ticked. it's like a zoo exhibition but with random dead racist white guys. (i also had like a 5 minute discussion about lincoln being racist today after i gave a book talk on team of rivals in my college comp. absolute all-timer)
