The differences between my game and vanilla Maxis

To make StrangeView I first downloaded a custom neighbourhood template, Kentham:

I haven’t included all of the Sims available, just the ones that I’m genuinely interested in playing. I’ve also added a few of my favourite Maxis townies to the townie pool, and downloaded some custom remakes of sims that I loved from other games, like the Roomies from TS1 and Mimi and Dudley from bustin’ out.

There’s a few key differences between the Sims I play and the maxis versions. The most noticeable is that I’ve replaced some sims with genetically correct versions - ie Alexander Goth is now the result of rolling the pacifier on Bella and Mortimer instead of using a random template that looks nothing like either of his parents. I’ve also softened some other sims faces by partially blending them with different face templates - so sims like Gordon King look a little more subtle.

With some Sims I’ve changed their eye colour, or skin colour (very slightly - I’ve tried to keep everyone the same sort of shade as they were initially. No white washing here!). I’ve also gone ahead and chosen the personality points and aspirations that fit how I perceive the characters instead of giving them the Maxis default ones. I’ve made many of the sims supernatural types - werewolves, witches etc, as I’ve never really played as a supernatural before and want to see what happens.

I’ve ‘resurrected’ a bunch of dead premades - so Skip Broke, Darleen Dreamer etc are making a return! Including a few of the grandparents - I like playing elder sims and was sad that Maxis killed most of them off. I left Lyla Grunt to rest in peace however as I enjoy the Grunt’s storyline too much to change it.

There’s a few new faces around town too - I’ve given some of the sims children that didn’t exist before, both genetic children and adopted. I’ve also added an absolute tonne of pets, servos and new townies to the neighbourhood.

Some of the family stories have changed to reflect all of these differences - for example Dina is now married to Michael Bachelor and was never involved with Mortimer Goth.

I’ve added 2 new ‘ages’ to the game - preteens (which are just taller versions of children) and mature adults (which are just the normal adult sims given wrinkles and sometimes greying hair). I play my game in a rotational style, and have chosen to age people up based on generations, so all of the babies will age up around the same time, all of the toddlers, etc.

I know some people like to keep their games as authentic as possible, but after 17 years of playing I wanted to shake things up.

DeeDee is easily my favourite cc creator of all time. They offer a variety of conversions and original creations for all age groups, both males and females. Every item is beautiful and top quality. They update regularly too. They also make fabulous items, tattoos, hairs and mods. They're 90% of why my elders aren't all wearing the same thing!

RentedSpace has some amazing conversions from other games. They have some great stuff for children too - some of it is on garden of shadows and unlisted on their blog. They've also made a lot of underwear and swimwear conversions which come in handy for filling out those often under represented categories.

So you’ve decided to play The Sims 2: The Big guide to TS4′s grandma

The Sims 2 for PC is an incredible game. It continues to entertain and delight people all over the globe over 17 years after the initial release. Personally it has been a huge part of my life.

It is, however, objectively ancient and thus a pain in the arse to set up and install in 2021 (or whenever you’re reading this). There are tonnes of resources out there to make the game run and look better but they are scattered across every corner of the internet. Finding and utilising these resources can be a nightmare for any new player.

I have 17 years of experience with getting this damn game to work and I thought that some of that knowledge could be helpful for newbies. So I’ve cobbled together this ‘ultimate guide’ which should hopefully help to setup a more stable and enjoyable experience from the beginning.

PRE-SETUP: Download 7-zip

Most downloadable files come zipped up in .zip or .rar formats to keep all of the files neat and together. You need an unzipper utility to get to the good stuff inside.

7-Zip is a utility tool that works like RAR or ZIP but doesn’t cost anything. It can extract things from .rar, .7zip and .zip files amongst many others. Download and install the program.

To unzip a file right click on the file and select ‘7-zip’ then ‘extract files...’ then hit ‘ok’.

Online Privacy

This guide requires going online to download files. As with any online activity this comes with risks. The best way to protect yourself online is to limit what information you share about yourself, have a good antivirus and to use a VPN (virtual private network).

If you’re in the market for a new internet browser @caramelsmiles12 recommends Tor:

As it hides your IP address, a key factor in keeping your privacy in tact.

I would also personally highly recommend these free browser extensions for other browsers:

If you can afford it I would also suggest upgrading to the paid version of SpyBot or Malwarebytes. I’m not sponsored by them, I’ve just used these two program for years and they’re so effective and reliable. They’re also pretty affordable compared to their competitors. The free programs work really well too though. Whichever program you have, always try to run an antivrius scan every month or so.

It’s pricey, but if you can afford it a subscription to a VPN service is also really helpful. I personally use:

There’s also ProtonVPN, which is a decent free alternative, but not as secure:

If you’re under 18 then make sure to consult an adult that you trust before entering payment details online and never use someone else’s money without their permission. Make all payments through a secure service like Paypal wherever possible. Never log in to important sites like your bank when connected via VPN. Take care not to share identifying information online.

STEP 1: Obtain the game

At one point the Ultimate Collection (which included the base game and every available DLC) was completely free on Origin for anyone who had bought physical copies in the past. However that giveaway has now sadly ended. Today there are a couple of ways to get hold of The Sims 2 and it’s various expansions.

OPTION 1: PURCHASE THE PHYSICAL DISKS

The first is to buy the physical disks. To my knowledge new copies are no longer sold in stores. However second hand copies can be purchased from online selling sites such as Ebay or Amazon, or in person from local charity or thrift shops. This is significantly cheaper now than it was at release, but can still set you back a pretty penny. To save some money try to get the bundled editions rather than the individual packs, and make sure to scroll through ‘more purchase options’ on Amazon.

El camino del coolhunter viene despegando hace relativamente poco, fue en 1997 cuando sale a luz por primera vez el término dicho por Malcolm Gladwell en su artículo para The New Yorker: “The Coolhunt, Who decides what’s cool? Certain kids in certain places—and only the coolhunters know who they are”

En donde nos cuenta la historia de como DeeDee Gordon sale a las calles a buscar cual es la zapatilla más cool para los chicos del Bronx.

En donde DeeDee encontraba este coolness cuando veía las reacciones de los chicos y a través de la escucha con ellos llega a compañías como Nike a proponer nuevos diseños o nuevas formas de promocionar las zapatillas.

Coolhunter, es la manera en la que llama Gladwell a las personas que realizan esta cacería de lo cool, saliendo a buscar a las personas que son cool y observar qué es lo que les gusta, de qué formas lo consumen y como, mercadologicamente, lo pueden presentar como nuevas estrategias.

Ser Coolhunter es una profesión que va más allá de corazonadas o intuiciones sobre lo “fashion”, sino que tiene que ver con la manera en la que observamos, estudiamos y realizamos propuestas para implementación de tendencias.

My battery died during the last song, but it starts at the very beginning with only one drop out during dialogue.

NOTES: Closing show! Or “rock concert” if you ask Christy Altomare. Yeah so this is a pretty obstructed video. Everyone was really excited so people were standing up, people were moving around, and honestly I had a little trouble paying attending to my viewfinder with all of the tears streaming down my face. Like Beetlejuice I would say it’s mostly like highlights, but all of the things that happen in the center part of the stage are captured really well and the video is DEFINITELY Christy centric. “Journey to the Past” is complete and gorgeous and you will cry. First act starts around when Anya meets Dmitry and the second act starts during “Crossing A Bridge.”

artemis lien nguyen, daughter of lawrence “crusher” crock and paula brooke nguyen and younger sister of jade paula nguyen. paula is an immigrant from vietnam and crusher’s family has been in gotham for at least a few generations.

paula and crusher got arrested when artemis was seven years old and jade was ten. jade ran away, while artemis got put into the foster system. she ended up with the lances, who had a fourteen year old daughter named dinah.

artemis realized she was a trans woman when she was fourteen and the lances helped her begin transitioning during this time. when she grew out her hair, she realized how much she looked like paula and jade and had a meltdown. dinah, twenty-one at this point and visiting, helped her bleach her hair.

artemis was fifteen when deedee died and she ended up going back to live with her mother, who had recently been released from prison. this was around the same time that she realized dinah was the second black canary and pleaded with her to let her be her sidekick. artemis already had plenty of self-defense training from ted grant, deedee’s old friend, at this point so dinah agreed to train her. she became the first songbird and became dinah’s sidekick.

when she was eighteen, dinah introduced her to the new teen titans and she joined the group. she eventually revealed her parents were both villains, as was her missing older sister. roy found out and decided to let artemis meet her niece, lian harper. artemis was touched when she realized jade named her daughter after her. artemis ended up rooming with roy and helping him raise lian.

she became tigress when she was twenty. she was invited to join the justice league a year later.

artemis realized she was a lesbian at a young age. she has dated donna troy, barbara gordon, bette kane, had a brief thing with koriand’r, and had an even briefer thing with keren zor-el. she and grace choi were fwb for awhile, before grace met anissa pierce but after grace and roy stopped sleeping together. she also had a huge crush on zatanna for the longest time, which made raven exceedingly uncomfortable.

she eventually ended up falling in love with raquel ervin and becoming a second mother to amistad. raquel and amistad moved in with her and roy rather than her moving out.

she’s an important member of the arrowfam, through dinah! she becomes a mentor of sorts for mia. she also gives her blessing for sin lance to become the second songbird. when olivia queen-lance is born, she ends up adoring that little girl. she and roy are best friends, though their relationship is very combative. ollie absolutely adores her.

she and jade reconnect shortly after jade leaves the league. she absolutely adores and spoils the shit out of tommy. she had a standing invitation to assassinfam dinner night.

I was tagged by @deedee-writes for this (aah, thank you so much!). As I have two main fandoms I’m writing/posting for right now (and therefore my followers are probably largely split into those two fandoms) I’ll post the last thing that I wrote for both of those.

One Piece: The Boys From Swallow Island Shachi’s eyes were full of tears but defiant as he glowered at his mother, still swatting away the shades she was attempting to place on him. “Young man if you don’t let me put these on you right now you don’t get to play with Penguin tomorrow.”

Been a while since I actually wrote anything new for One Piece but I haven’t forgotten about it at all! Very much a part of my Tales From The Heart series - just throwing up some annoying writers’ block at the moment...

Thunderbirds: Toffee “No work at the breakfast table,” Grandma scolded, appearing from nowhere and shutting the device before Scott could register what it said. “And Gordon, snacks are not breakfast. Have a pancake.”

Scott didn’t hear Gordon’s response, too busy staring at his now closed laptop.

The paperwork due this morning hadn’t been there.

Technically this isn’t the last thing I’ve written but I came here with the intention of posting my latest thing, so that’ll be going up in about 2 minutes. Toffee is one of my #irrelief fics - it was posted as a standalone with a vague promise of becoming a multichap and as this is from chapter 4 I can confirm a multichap is happening, although more won’t be posted until I finish writing the whole thing, just to make sure it’s all tying together nicely (the plot for this thing is hecking complicated to write, it’s turning out).

Multicultural Children's Book Day 2024 Part 1

I was gifted Mightier Than the Sword: Rebels, Reformers & Revolutionaries Who Changed the World Through Writing by Rochelle Melander. The books is published by beaming books (beamingbooks.com) and includes illustrations by Melina Ontiveros. Melander is a public speaker and author working to encourage young people to change their lives and communities through writing. Her non-fiction book, Mightier Than the Sword does an excellent job at capturing the importance of writing across all different fields. She introduces important figures throughout history from a variety of different backgrounds and demographics with short biographies and how they used writing to improve their lives and/or the lives of those around them. I loved the inclusion of different writing prompts and believe this book will make a fantastic addition to my library shelves. Multicultural Children’s Book Day 2024 (1/25/24) is in its 11th year! Valarie Budayr and Mia Wenjen founded this non-profit children’s literacy initiative; they are two diverse book-loving moms who saw a need to shine the spotlight on all of the multicultural diverse books and authors on the market while also working to get those books into the hands of young readers and educators.
