I'd love to hear your thoughts on the fight between Remus and Harry in DH. Because throughout the series we see Remus manipulating Harry by bringing up James, but for the first time, Harry brings up James in a situation that is the most relevant, and Remus goes BERSERK.

hello 💜💜 i’m so sorry for how long this has been lying in my inbox but i’ve got so much to say and not enough time for it 💀

i don’t think anything i say re this will come as a surprise to anyone who knows me lol i feel like that fight was such a good opportunity to show, in narrative, remus at fault without excusing his actions and the text still missed the mark. i’ve talked before about this, but remus always gets off scot free with no consequences or even reproach for any of his shitty actions and i think this comes under the same banner. iirc even hermione’s like ‘wtf harry’ because of his response, right?

but here, we see him acting shitty in a manner u absolutely cannot ignore. i mean, there’s a point to which ur willing to ignore a grown man’s agency and actions, right? and i feel like ‘abandoning ur wife and unborn kid in the middle of a whole war’ is waaaaaay past that point. we can talk all day about how he thought he was in the right, how he might’ve actually brought misfortune to them by virtue of who he was, but that still doesn’t excuse what tonks would’ve been going through, esp considering her own dad pulled a similar stunt.

you bring up such a great point re james. remus had absolutely no problems invoking his name when he wanted to guilt trip harry (i keep saying this but their conversation in poa horrifies me every time i think about it) but the moment he gets it back? it’s all ‘oh woe is me how dare u’. kinda makes me think remus never had to deal w the consequences of his actions (which like,,,am i wrong tho) bc all the misfortune he has, he attributes to his condition and never his own actions. he basically operates on an external locus of control and the people around him keep enabling it. (ofc a lot of this is conjecture + influenced by what i’ve seen in fandom bc we (i?) don’t actually know that much about him & his motivations from the text) and i think when he actually is held accountable, he’ll go straight on the defensive bc he doesn’t know how to handle it.

imo remus is super, super self destructive and not that capable at maintaining healthy relationships. for all that people go on and on about james and sirius being assholes and bullies, remus is actually so much more insidious in terms of being ‘toxic’. i really think harry was so right for doing what he did, not matter how much shit he gets for it, because someone has to. his friends won’t, people in authority aren’t, and he gets to go through life blaming everything except himself.

i feel like this is super unsympathetic to him lol but that scene in dh is actually one of my favs just because someone is finally saying something to Saint Remus and the fact that it’s harry, of all people? u go bby!!! it was also such a thoughtless action on remus’ part bc he’s telling this to a literal orphan who grew up abused and neglected. also!! the way it portrays him on the complete end of the spectrum as james (who we know is the ‘embodiment of bravery’ in the text bc of his actions therefore, remus is an absolute coward which, self professed but now proved further) which really makes u understand harry’s pov too, i think. because he idolised his dad, ykno? and he’s heard remus talk about their bond before, and we know harry’s judged people by comparing (and associating) them to his parents right? so it just makes remus come off even worse.

ultimately, i think it was just another selfish + narrow minded action in a long list that we can attribute to remus. can we explain them? sure. but does that justify it? i personally don’t think so, but others can obv disagree. remus wasn’t thinking of tonks or baby teddy or harry when he offered to accompany them, no matter how much he tried to spin it that way and i think that lying (to both others & himself) is v characteristic of his personality throughout the whole series. he’s a serial manipulator and no one’s safe from it, not even him.

*guess_who's_back_back_again.mp3* hi all ! thank you so much all the warm welcome (back's) 🤍 i'm kristin / admin *, and for those of you who don't know, nathan is my previous third-turned-second muse before i dropped out of the rp completely back in may of last year. i've still been around doing graphics, but nathan has always had a special place in my heart – and i knew that if i were to return with a muse, it would be with him. so when soobin opened up, i knew this was my one and only chance !

that being said, nathan is ~pretty much~ the same but ofc different in ways. his timeline is a continuation from where he was ic-wise last year, and you can read more under the cut about what his life is like now in the post-type zero era of his career. i've also linked his previous introduction that includes more of his backstory before he came to legacy for your reference !

tl;dr on his backstory is that he (1) grew up in new york city, (2) acted out a lot because of parental neglect (re: being raised in boarding schools his whole life), (3) ended up in korea because the school board threatened to expel him after a prank-gone-wrong, (4) auditioned for legacy after his npc-big brother got signed to the company, (5) stayed because it was the first time in his life he ever got praised for literally anything and, wow, very much attention and affection-starved from the get-go, and (6) debuted in type zero in april of 2021 after four years of training!

now ... where, oh, WHERE do i even begin? like i mentioned in my ooc post when i dropped, nathan ultimately left type zero because of massive burnout. at the time, he was practically hard-carrying the group's promotions with his solo activities, and the burden of maintaining type zero's 'status' in the industry was eventually too much for him.

it was a lot for him, okay. not only was he dealing with the emotional turmoil that came from being in a group with so many line-up changes and differing opinions from the public, he was succumbing to the pressure of all these expectations placed on him that he (as he knows now) never felt properly prepared for before his debut.

the first few weeks after his departure, he had an extended staycation with his grandparents in the outskirts of seoul before flying back to nyc for some much-needed r&r.

since he was still signed to legacy even after leaving type zero, he returned to training after about three months of 'vacation' – so he's only been full-time training for a little over six months now.

he's been avoiding, basically, everyone – previous managers and stylists and other staff members, other debuted idols in the company, and, of course, the type zero members.

he's so ashamed of himself, for giving something up that (as he first-hand witnessed himself!) hundreds of kids only dream of after sacrificing their childhoods, their youths, their critical developments years all for the goal of becoming an idol.

and he's embarrassed, for obvious reasons. when he left type zero, he was practically at the top of his game, but now? now he's stuck in the basement, in the hallways of dance studios and practice rooms, surrounded by unfamiliar faces that whisper and gossip as he passes by. he's visibly older than most trainees now, and his energy nor enthusiasm can barely keep up anymore.

before, nathan thought he could take the world on by storm – that no matter what problem or obstacle, he could bulldoze through with sheer willpower alone. but now he's scared, and more jaded. the idol industry isn't anything like they tell you to believe, and there truly are things you can only learn through real-life experience.

but at the end of the day, nathan knows why he's still here, why he's tormenting himself by going through this rigorous training process again. he loves it. he loves it so much, and so much more than wanting to run away from it all once again.

what do you think the lupins think about sirius getting disowned? ofc hope wouldn’t know the history behind his family, but would that change anything in lyall’s mind about his opinion of sirius? and how would hope handle it? I imagine she would try to be as welcoming as possible, not just because it’s in her nature and she would have done that anyway, but also because there’s more on the line since she wouldn’t want him to feel turned away by her (lyall… a diff story isn’t it). also, I don’t think she would see it as “he got disowned by a powerful wizarding family” but rather “he got turned away by his own parents” yk?

hello hello 2 u both!! to some extent my thoughts on this depend on how well they really know sirius when this happens, which i imagine to be--not very (at least in lyall's case--i reckon he kept his distance from sirius as remus' friend, but had less of a choice about this once sirius was remus' boyfriend). also--im not sure when they'd find out? would remus tell them? i definitely dont think he'd tell them about stuff like the prank, though admittedly this isn't really a similar thing.

anyway, going off the basis that they find out around when it happens, i agree with first anon that hope would be very welcoming about it (though she always would be), and probably wouldnt have had a dissimilar reaction to the potters if sirius had turned up on their doorstep rather than james', despite the fact that the lupins definitely have less money and means with which to take in another sixteen year old boy. seeing as she isn't familiar with the noble and most ancient shit surrounding sirius' family, her perception of sirius would pretty much always b shaped by remus' relationship with him, and therefore she trusts that he's a good person + friend who's had a shite deal. so as u say, in that situation she just sees a boy whose parents treated him so poorly that he had no option but to leave, and therefore feels a need to make it clear that he is loved + welcomed in their home and would probably be even more on lyall's case about the way he thinks of him.

i don't imagine lyall to have had many run-ins with sirius at this point, honestly. i can't imagine he's been to their house that many times, and so its one of those dad situations where you can have a bestfriend for six years that you regularly mention at home and your dad has still only clapped eyes on/spoken to them like...twice, in all that time. nevertheless, he's heard of sirius' family, and that's largely responsible for how he views sirius (+ the fact that he views sirius...negatively). i think he only really starts meeting sirius for himself more regularly once he's dating remus, and for the sake of this conversation we're going to say that's after sirius is disowned, though it could well be before. as for his view on it...at first i honestly don't think he'd care much. i can't see him doing a sharp 180 on his view of sirius, the same way he couldn't have done a sharp 180 on his view of werewolves after remus was bitten. i imagine initially he sort of thinks, well, ok, he's disowned, but that doesn't necessarily mean he's any better than them. it could well just mean that there were disagreements within the family or he didn't want to live up to his role as heir or they're all just horrible people, and sirius removing himself from that situation does not necessarily, as far as lyall is concerned, demonstrate some great difference in character between him and the rest of his family. lyall is constantly wary of the danger that pureblood families like the blacks + their ideologies pose to his son, which massively affects his (rather dogmatic) attitude towards sirius. he accepts sirius' friendship with remus, he's never going to do anything to try and intervene there, but he never quite trusts him.

i think this is roughly his initial view, but over time + particularly after r/s start dating, and become adults who live together + it becomes undeniable that sirius intends to make a life with his son, lyall gradually accepts that sirius must actually be alright, and that there must actually be some differences between him and his family that were reflected in his being disowned as a boy. by now they aren't really going to see each other all that much anymore anyway, but he does definitely make his peace with sirius and his intentions towards remus.

what r italians general opinion of foreigners moving to/living in italy

It is not easy to speak for all, but I think that the majority of Italians, in general, are totally fine with that. From what I usually hear from people: if that person wants to come here to study/find a job, and takes time to study our language and understand our culture, respects us and our traditions, they're more than welcome. Italians will respect that person and their traditions and culture as well, but beware some of us might need a lecture so to know better how to not offend them, especially if their culture is really different from ours - not all of us know everything, even if we might act as that. I think the basic words are: mutual respect (which is something due in all of our relationships with other people imo).

Besides, many of us move abroad too not just for studies or work, it's part of life, so it's something totally normal. I think it enriches not just the person moving, but also the communities and Nations involved (I probably watch too far lol).

I met many people coming from other Nations living/working here, and I always loved to talk with them about differences in our traditions and cultures and exchange traditional food, whenever we could do that ofc (food: that's what makes the world spin and bond haha). But I also loved the way they were happy of being here and well loved by other Italians as well. I call myself a nostalgic person, but I think living far from your country, your language, your family and home must be tough after a while, no matter how much and for what reason you wanted/needed to go away (and people can't always go back as they'd like to bc work, life and other stuff). For as much I am thinking of moving abroad, there's always something keeping me here: you are brave, I think the bare minimum we can do is to, at least metaphorically, hug you.

Know that sadly, there are exceptions here and there (as I think it is in the whole world).

BACKGROUND

born n raised in misty hollow !! has literally never left the state ! this place is his entire world ( not in a sentimental way ... it’s just all he’s known )

seb was born as the middle child with an older n younger sibling , all boys ! very chaotic. but basically it’s ur typical story where the middle kid was never rly noticed ,, his older brother made lots of dumb decisions ( which seb learned from hehe ) while his younger one was the overachiever of the family n his parents basically bowed down 2 him while seb just kinda got by

like ,, nobody ever had any high hopes for him. his parents wanted to make something of his older brother in spite of him bein awful, and they already knew his younger brother was going places n it was just kind of ... accepted that seb was the mediocre one

so uh,, he did the usual . did whatever to get attention ( also because he knew he wouldn’t get any, his parents always just wrote him off as seb bein’ seb and saw him as a lost cause ), annoyed the shit out of everyone for fun , had imaginary friends n generally did whatever it took to not be taken seriously .

he was close with his mom tho !! like it was mostly his dad who was ,, super shitty n disappointed in seb . his mom was still always really encouraging n was kind of the one person he could actually talk to 

n then when he was seventeen his mom died of a stroke :( n it was so AWFUL . like the one person he had ?? gone !! n now he was stuck in a house w his dad n brothers, none of whom cared much for him at all 

he barely graduated high school , would come home late all the time ( or just not ), basically just like ... perpetuating the cycle of people thinking very little of him. went to jail a few times for things like stealing , vandalism, stuff like that

his dad’s retired now n he’s been passed down the hollow diner !! he’s been running it for quite a while now , n worked there beforehand so it’s pretty much been his entire life. this diner is the one thing he cares abt , like ever since he became the owner of it , he’s put so much time n work into it to make it something that is his and not just his dad’s !  he will do dumb shit until 4 in the morning but will always show up to work the next day 

don’t rly know what else 2 say because his life has been boring like . his life is literally tied to misty hollow - he’s never been anywhere else ,,  he’s just done .... not much with his life other than dumb stuff that rly doesn’t matter in the grand scale of things ( in his opinion ) 

PERSONALITY

seb has a moral compass but just doesn’t ,, use it ?? like he knows he’s a shitty person but at this point he thinks it’s a bit too late 2 turn it around n what else would keep his existence afloat if not for doin dumb things n getting people angry ! 

claims he has never been in love but also falls in love a little bit with every person he meets <3 like he will see a pretty girl n think she is the prettiest girl he has ever seen in this world n then stay up all night thinking about her ... until he sees the next pretty girl

but this doesn’t mean he’s a ROMANTIC ,, he’s just obsessive ? in all aspects really

very Very Avoidant . bad coping mechanisms . if he sees conflict he will a) just act completely normal like it’s not happening or b) run the other way n try 2 forget abt it 

he’s fuckin’ annoying but mostly just self-destructive ?? like never INTENTIONALLY gets in the way of other people ,, ofc he’ll be annoying but on a serious note , he doesn’t want 2 hurt other people ever . he just doesn’t care about himself v much

she made some ridiculous aesthetic choices on angel. god help me she’s an amazingly beautiful woman at all times but some of those hair and makeup choices were not great bob. also she uses the r word at least once and i am very uncomfortable!!!!!!!! aaaaaaaaanddddddddddddddd……… okay. i think it was horribly ooc when cordelia got all heart eyes for lindsey mcdonalds performance at caritas. but i have to I HAVE TO sweep that aside as them pandering to christian kanes music career bc otherwise my eyes would roll so far back into my head i’d pass out. cordy is very often shallow which i love about her but THAT???? lmao that was weak, so very weak and if you disagree and think it was in character well i still hate it. (and i think gunn also said it was cool? which. BIGGER LMAO)

buffy!!!! and also gunn and connor. buffy and cordy being so clearly paralleled with each other but their heroic journeys going at different speeds? the privileged popular girl past, the call to heroism (slayer, visions), the self sacrifice for the greater good, even the falling in love with a fellow soldier that ends in loving tragedy and sacrifice. they never got to be great friends, but they always understood each other on such a deep level. all their interactions were amazing and we deserved them becoming besties. AND GUNN!!! he and cordy were always harsh opposites but their friendship was endlessly fun and interesting and it’s disappointing they stopped getting duo time together. AND CONNOR. a controversial choice bc of season 4 events (and well. connor being a controversial character at all times). but they srsly had a really sweet friendship that could have been everything if cordelia hadn’t been so quickly snapped up by possession.

ANGEL ALWAYS!!!!!!! ETERNAL OTP!!!!!! but in another life, buffy or gunn. and in another OTHER life, maybe she and groo could have been a lot. he was very very sweet but she was in love with angel by the time he came back, and connors kidnapping and return rightly shifted all of her focus to angel (so it was bad timing even if she hadn’t been in love with him already) so they didn’t get a for real fair shot for me but it could have been good. but yeah honestly this answer is really just ANGEL with fifty million rows down these three other options. (or buffy/cordy/angel as an ot3 bc i have thoughts!!!!)

i don’t know that i have hard and fast notps for her bc even her ships i’m not into were fine in their time? like cordy/xander ended on a good note for me (‘it looks good on you.’ ‘well duh!’) and cordy/doyle was onesided right up til he died so i never had to deal with what the reality of that being an actual relationship would have looked like and if i could have been into it. cordy/wesley was just funny all the way through to their botched and embarrassing kiss. i guess a lot of people would say cordy/connor here but….. that wasn’t cordelia. they kissed once while she had amnesia, but the relationship part was all jasmine possessing her and raping both of them SO. insert random guy who tried to take advantage of her and lure her to him for some nefarious scheme here

she’s still bouncing around doing shit for the powers that be but in a very different sort of way. maybe she travels across time and dimensions, maybe she helps guide other heroes. her story isn’t over, she’s just on a different path now, calling her to be an active participant in enacting good across different realms under the ptb’s purview 

unpopular opinion

season 4 did not ruin cordelia. there’s some debate over when exactly she was possessed (i’m personally very certain on it being the instant she got her full memories back and saw the beasts eyes), but the important thing is that she spent almost the entirety of season 4 being possessed by another being who wanted to take over the world. so cordelia chase, the actual character herself, with memories fully intact and full knowledge over her person? was last seen definitively in the season 4 ep the house always wins, when we see her in the higher plane of existence manipulating the lotto machines. then she had amnesia, AND THEN she wasn’t cordelia anymore. then ofc real actual cordelia was back in season 5 for you’re welcome. ALSO!!!!!!!! cordelia was not ooc in season 3, nor do i believe that her forgiving angel for his s2 fuckery bc he bought her new clothes was ooc. the girl likes clothes! and sometimes big gestures actually work! for an actual ooc moment SEE ABOVE. cordelia’s character arc is a big part of what makes her a phenomenal character and absolutely one of the major standouts of the whole buffyverse. she’s not written completely differently on angel than she is on buffy, she just grows and changes like a normal person, and she gets more shit for it than anyone else with significant character arcs

If I may offer my input, not a fan of reading about real established relationships IT'S ABOUT THE JOURNEY you know? So unless the "dating in secret" trope involves them getting together first I would be more into "fake dating". But it's your choice obviously! Fake dating isn't always my cup of tea, I read some well-written fake dating AUs, you could clearly see the couple fall for each other for real. But I also came across some less nuanced ones that seemed highly unrealistic (yeah, I know fiction doesn't have to be 100% realistic, but it has to make sense!) where one person fell in love, but the other was like "nah, sorry" just to confess their undying love one chapter later. Hello?! Consistency where?

I read some well-written fake dating AUs, you could clearly see the couple fall for each other for real. But I also came across some less nuanced ones that seemed highly unrealistic (yeah, I know fiction doesn't have to be 100% realistic, but it has to make sense!)

ABSOLUTELY,,, some fics r highly unrealistic and that’s fine too but i kind of connect with the slow burn in the one that’s gone thru up and downs, the progression of the relationship makes me more excited than the outcome tbh <3 and yes !!! it has to make sense, even just a little bc i think a lot of times ppl either rush if without noticing or drift away from the topic (me in my essays)

where one person fell in love, but the other was like "nah, sorry" just to confess their undying love one chapter later. Hello?! Consistency where?

my favourite tropes have to be etl (cOme oN atp it’s like a trademark) rivals to lovers or may b recently i’ve been into reincarnation au’s it gives me lots of angst,,,, oh i think my do’s r usually : slow burn it, ppl rly enjoy it and feel with the story more that way + describe in loads of detail enough for ppl to imagine it visually, to properly respect the characters true personalities in the fic if that makes sense,,,,, don’t’s r usually : not to write something that would make the reader DESPISE the person, like not crossing the line is super important for me and properly researching and not just half assing it

YESSSSSSSS Aizawa and Mic are high school friends so I’m pretty sure it’s canon they waste time together, Blood King and Dog Hound are canon pals too so they also most probs chill together too! Blood King is also the same age as Aizawa and Mic so they probs used to go to school together too!!! And with Dog Hound being 32, Midnight being 31 and Cementoss and Thirteen being 28 they’re more or less all the same age, so I like to think they spend free time together~ some scenes with the teachers make me think they’re good pals with the older ones too, it’s a really fun group of people to be honest!

Yes she is!!!!! I like to think Jirou’s got at least basic knowledge for how to play any instrument ever, so when she’s laying around in the common room once she got used to her friends listening to her play she’d bring with herself the smaller and easier ones to carry! An ukulele has a super nice sound and is small enough to bring around the dorms haha

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!! thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I think I already answered this question? At some point? But I can’t find it, so in general my take is that I highly doubt Bakugou’s body isn’t built to withstand and not take damage from his own quirk (since his hands are made to hold up with it, I feel like the rest of his body is tailored around his quirk too), but I’m always up for disabled characters and the idea of Bakugou signing is beautiful to me, so I don’t mind the AU one bit! Dunno if I’ll ever draw for it tho, drawing jsl when I don’t know it is hard. I know that from experience.

That said, I do find the fics in which Bakugou becomes deaf because of his quirk a bit hard to believe most of the times? Because in all of them his ears are the only things taking damage for the continuous use of his quirk and I just sit here like, his eyes should be taking damage too. Normal eyes aren’t made to withstand explosions and stun grenades every day all day, so if his ears aren’t biologically made to hold against his quirk his eyes shouldn’t be either. 

Like, I read those fics and I find them real hard to believe because the authors aren’t pushing it hard enough, for me it’s either no damage at all or hoh AND visually impaired Bakugou, boy can’t be only half built to withstand his quirk that’d just be silly haha but that’s probably just me, the AU is Good 👍

He started doing so once he found himself with no hoodies left - he isn’t the type to just steal people’s clothes, I think, but if Bakugou started doing so first he’d probably find it acceptable to consider all their hoodies fair game hahaha

This may not be the best well written thing but I did it to the best of my ability. Any feedback is welcome and don't hold back.Okay, I [19 F] started dating Z [20 M] and we were together for just over a year, he broke up with me (in july 2016), I was devastated. He said he still loved me alot but I wasn't right for him to want to spend anymore time dating me.We barely spoke for 2 weeks after because he needed time to get over me. After that two weeks, we went to the local fair and spent most of the day together. It was nice apart from the horrible feelings I was having. 1 week after that we spoke about being friends with benefits. I clearly wasn't over him and jumped at the chance of having some sort of connection and being intimate with him.I stayed round his place for days at a time and one time stayed the week. Since then it's been pretty much every weekend. He's so kind and sweet about everything. He'd always been honest with me.I didn't want him knowing how i feel and one time he asked me "How are you okay with doing this and how you're feeling?" And I simply said "Because I can separate my feelings from this" That was months ago, he thought that when I was sad/upset round his it was because of family issues because thats what I told him as it was easier than the truth. (Truth being, not over the fact he doesnt love me, is doing 2x more than we did when we were dating e.g meeting up more, more intimate stuff and experimenting and just having a really nice time.)Okay okay, now to the main bit.Last week he went to do 'stuff' with someone else and wanted to tell me the details, I thought sure I can handle this.
