So now that disenchantment pt5 has destroyed me, im rewatching obviously. Im at the end of pt1 where they're trying to get the Eternity Pendant.
Why didn't Bean think to reuse the Pendant for Mora? It's not like it went anywhere, they should still have it (unless offscreen Dagmar never gave it back after use). Luci's wish was beautiful, but its kind of a waste considering the power they should have already had. Plus the elves are still right there. Like come on.
Many other things were off about pt5 but most people have already spoken about them (no goodbye, separation of the trio the whole season, elfo x Mary not making sense, etc). But as I rewatch, more problems are coming up. I know its not the creators' fault the show got cut short but 🙄

"You didn't try to poison me? what kind of evil daughter are you? next time, see that you do, and don't."
Bad Bean is the perfect obedient daughter Dagmar wanted and she still isn't good enough for her, nothing will ever be good enough for her

so you’re saying its authority figures like me or parents or cops or gym teachers or driving instructors or security guards or snooty maître d’s, perhaps even society itself thats the problem? and because we’re scared of whats inside us, what we see in you, we lock you up in hellholes like this to keep you out of sight, out of mind? because thats crazy. its a good thing you’re in a loony bin

I Hope You Miss Me
Just a little fic for those of us who miss Luci, and wanted one more encounter between him and Bean.
"Luci... I miss you..." A gusty sigh full of grief escaped Bean. She sat on the shore, staring at the full moon. She'd dreamed about him. When she woke up, it had felt like he was right there, curled against her belly like he used to do. She had even felt his strange demonic warmth. Pulling herself up wearily, she'd left Mora to her own dreams.
The last few months had been the happiest in Bean's life. She had found true love at last. But every once in awhile, she missed her boys. Luci, she missed the most. Elfo, she had visited recently, even though the castle was hidden. He seemed to be doing well with Miri. A bit stressed out with the burden of ruling a kingdom, but she'd given him some pointers.
But Luci... he was dead. Gone. She'd never see him again. And to melt in lava... That must have been so painful for him... Hot tears pricked Bean's eyes.
"Oh, Luci... I'm so sorry. I feel like it's my fault you're dead. I really do miss the fun we used to have together. I don't even know if you can hear me."
A deep chuckle reverberated of the cliffs around her.
"Of course, I can hear you, Beanie Baby. I'm not deaf."
Bean looked around frantically in the moonlight. Then she saw him. Perched on a craggy rock, with his legs dangling over the edge. She even saw the bright cherry from his cigarette. Luci.
"Luci? Luci!" She stood up shakily, and he sailed over to her. Holding her arms out, she gathered him in a hug. They both laughed, and she felt his warm nose as he buried it in her neck.
"God, I missed you, girl."
"Me too, Luce. But, what the hell is going on? I thought you were..." She pulled away a bit, examining his wings. They were of the purest white, and made of soft feathers.
"Oh, my God. These are..."
Luci gulped audibly.
"Angel wings..." He choked out.
A golden halo appeared above his head, glowing brightly. Bean touched it. All she could feel was warmth.
"How?" She asked.
Luci's eyes darted to the sea.
"Well, ya know. God... He just thought it would be easier on me, I guess. I'm still me, though." He looked at her then, his dark eyes gleaming. Bean touched her nose against his. He still felt warm, but it was a different kind of warmth. She squeezed his body in her arms. It felt pretty solid.
"I thought you didn't have a body anymore." She wondered.
"I don't, really. But I've always been more spirit than body anyway." He shrugged.
"Hn. I don't have a ton of time." He continued. "This is only a visit." He stroked Bean's hand with his own tiny black one. She sighed, and it seemed to come from her toes.
"I felt you miss me," he said, "And it was kind of like a summoning. I guess that works the same with angels as it does with demons. You just have to call out to me sometimes. I dunno if I can always show up like this, Bean, but I'll always hear you when you call my name." He looked down at the sand.
"Your voice has a power over me. I... You... you're my best friend. The first person I ever..." He cleared his throat awkwardly. Bean smiled.
"I love you too, dude."
They hugged each other for a long time, and Bean felt his slender tail wrap around her arm. She was glad he still had his demon parts. If he had changed too much... It would have been hard to bear.
"I just... wanted to say..." Bean whispered. "I never got to say goodbye, and you know, that I miss you, and..."
"I know, Bean. It's okay." He patted her hand. "Don't sweat it, girl. And hey, I heard what you said earlier. About my death being your fault. It totally wasn't. Don't do that to yourself, okay? Damn."
They sat in the sand, watching the waves move in and out.
Luci pulled a bottle of wine out of thin air, along with two glasses. White liquid poured out, sparkling in the moonlight.
"I will say one thing about Heaven. They've got some damn good wine."
They clinked glasses, and Bean took a sip. Her whole body melted.
"Holy..." She breathed.
"Right?" Luci chuckled.
"Is God's wine better than Satan's?"
"Oh, HELL no."
They talked long into the night. About things that mattered, and about stupid crap. After awhile, Bean noticed that Luci kept glancing at Mora's sleeping body. She had turned over a few times, but stayed asleep.
"She's a pretty deep sleeper, Luci. And even if she does wake up..."
"Nah, I'm not worried about that. I just..." He gazed off at the horizon.
"What?" Bean pet his back, coaxing him. The little demon wasn't always the best with words.
"You're really happy with her, huh?" His voice was hesitant.
"Well, duh! I've never been happier in my whole damn life!" Bean exclaimed.
"Awesome." Luci said, more to himself than to her.
"You know what's weird? I don't even know how she came back to life, but I didn't really question it." Bean felt Luci's eye on her, and she suddenly had the feeling he was hiding something.
"Well, Bean. You ARE a witch. A very powerful one. It's like you keep forgetting. Remember when you kissed Elfo back to life?" Luci prompted.
"That was, I mean, I blew his soul back into his-"
"And what about when you cried on my severed head and I woke up for a bit? I'm telling you, you've got the power to bring people back to life!"
"Wow... I guess I do."
"Yep." Luci slapped Bean's thigh with his tiny hand.
The moon started to set, and they lay curled up on the sand. Luci waited until Bean fell asleep, then he pushed her hair out of her eyes and planted a kiss on her cheek.
"You'll always be my Bean." He scatted "Beanie Weenie" under his breath, and pinched her freckles. He was glad he tricked her into thinking she'd brought Mora back to life on her own. He felt better knowing his secret was well hidden. If Bean ever knew that he gave up... Well, she wouldn't know.
He felt the Call of God, and it sent shivers down his small body.
"Yeah, yeah. I'm coming, God-o. Until next time, Bean. I love you, girl. Forever."
He scanned the sand until he found a single lava rock. He placed it in the palm of her hand, then curled her fingers over it. A reminder that she hadn't been dreaming.
Unfurling his angel wings, he flapped them a few times, then soared up into a beam of light. He hoped she'd miss him again. Soon.

*spoilers here*
Aaaand still on the Disenchantment topic, but spoilers this time. I wasn't expecting the first episode of season 3 (or part 5) to stab me in the heart in the last minute of the first episode with a sad speech (I was just having fun, why do you make me cry like that???). I guess you can hear sad truths in the most unexpected places (like an animated comedy tv show).
(not really sure anybody is actually reading this, but quote under the cut just in case the spoiler tag isn't enough)
Elfo: "You know what they never tell you about grief, Bean?... They never tell you that the worst part isn’t missing the past we had, it’s missing the future we’ll never get. I wasted so much time wanting you to be something else for me I didn’t appreciate what you were. My friend. My best friend. I’m so sorry. From here on now there is going to be a hole in the world where you were supposed to be. Goodbye, Bean."
*This is immeditely followed by a tearful, lovely reunion, but it still broke my heart a little.

Warning: Pretty big spoiler for the Disenchantment series finale under the cut.
When Alva's rocket ship blasts off in the final episode, it clears away debris from the symbol of the Trog saviors to reveal it was actually an image of Miri the Mop Girl wearing King Rulo's crown. She was the foretold ruler of Dreamland all along!

did my girlfriend and I watch the full part 5 of Disenchantment today?
Yes.
did I EAT ?
oh yes
spoilers beneath
ODVAL MISSING SORCERIO WHILE IN THE FREAK SHOW EXHIBIT
ODVAL TELLING SORCERIO HE LOVES HIM DURING THIS BATTLE
THEM GETTING MARRIED AND KISSING AND EREBGIHZFEBIGEREb<uifgbqselufvbuqsidflegwrigsmedjblqierugq
look, this couple was close to my heart because these two characters are so fun and i like the little dynamic the show suggested until now for them, and I wasn't expecting that much, maybe a little conclusion, maybe not, but just them on screen as per usual
But the show - it gave me so much, I am literally so happy. I think I've never been this randomly happy about a queer couple before, apart from Sapphire and Ruby from Steven Universe
Sorcerio and Odval got married, no matter how kind of odd the season was. I ate, I am so happy, I love Disenchantment, holy fuck
Thank you for all of this

WIP!!!! I don’t share my art on here much I’m mostly active in just Instagram but ahhhh I’m actually happy with this lol I think I made them cute for once >:))
Matt Groening characters are hard to translate into my style okay the face shape is literally the exact opposite so I’m working with what I can 😂🙏
I always enjoy doing disenchantment fanart bc colouring the backgrounds is soooo therapeutic. I’m only stopping bc it’s 1 AM & I can’t keep my eyes open for much longer. Erm enjoy & I’ll share the finished drawings too~

disenchantment spoilers i guess but everyone is mad about elfo and luci and im just. feeling very :// about mora.
i dont talk about this much but when i first watched golden wind the sorbet-gelato thing touched me in a really bad place and i talk about this a bit more but i really dont mind gay characters (or characters that just radiate that energy but arent canonically gay - tiz and squalo namely) dying in golden wind because it doesnt feel targeted. like theyre killed because many people die in the series not because theyre queer, personally i can work with that.
in disenchantment it felt a bit like a fake punch to see if i flinch, even though i suspected they wont just kill off the mc's sapphic love interest for shock value it felt a bit below the belt? like i still had to watch bean mourning her for a painfully long time, it felt a bit cheap. bean feeling lonely and wanting someone that loves and understands her on this level has been a theme for 5 entire seasons and im not a fan of being made to feel like it was all for nothing and even though she figured out who she loves she doesnt actually deserve to be with her.
its probably because in jojo there isnt really a romantic storyline like that in... any part tbh (not counting erina and suzi bc finding them isnt really the main jojo's goal or a big part of the story they just meet and decide "oh we must marry"). if i was shown how desperate cioccolata or secco or idk was to find someone that loves and accepts them for most of golden wind or if that was at least one of giorno's biggest personal goals in life only for his love interest to then get killed off in the last episodes i would like that show a lot less. like that would be cruel and earn the title of "bury your gays" and disenchantment reviving mora in the last minute wasnt satisfying enough for me to just forgive that entirely.
(i could also go off about the difference between how the two shows handle random revivals and fakeout deaths but thats a suitcase for another day and i might be biased but spoiler, that bothers me a lot less in jojo too. like they dont do it so often death stops being meaningful in any way)
