Neil Young's introduction showed … wait, what? Is this for real?! Am I serious? Did I skip the follow-up to his debut, which turned Neil Young into Neil Young? Yes, since I only deal with him on his own, but I must admit Crazy Horse served as a conduct for him, because he found his style with him. That might also be one of the reasons he asked them to return for After The Gold Rush. This is Neil Young we are familiar with, though what does that mean? Sure, he's seen as a folk rock musician, yet this designation sells him a bit short. He's actually a brilliant rock musician with more interests than a majority of them. I agree, Dylan gives him a run for his money in this department. Still, did Dylan ever do his Trans?

Rocktober Challenge 🦇 Day 25 - song[s] you wish you could play

So here's the thing: when you listen to Neil return to play the same song throughout his career, it develops along with him: his mood, energy, skill level, and so on. Most of the time, I can do a bare-bones version of something with reasonable adequacy, and in time I can learn to decorate it with alternate fingering or accents I hear on the records. That said, there are some songs I just don't think I can touch (besides the obvious electric songs. I'll leave those to him 😏).

Don't Let It Bring You Down

This song is like some kind of vortex: other-worldly and all-encompassing. I would love to be able to create some small version of that effect. The strum pattern is varied and interesting. It's in a weird tuning, which is something I'm not totally comfortable with. The harmonics at the end are heavenly. I participate in this sometimes with a harmony line, but it doesn't need it, and I can't even approach singing it like Neil does: really going for those high notes, sometimes barely touching them, other times letting them rip, and occasionally getting in and out as fast as possible (maybe that I can relate to 😂) .

The Needle and the Damage Done

Oh god. How beautiful is this acoustic riff? First descending, then winding into a circular pattern that to mind the cycle of addiction: rehabbing, falling off the wagon, spiraling again, and so on. I'm also willing to bet no one can sing this like Neil. His voice is impossibly gentle and so sincere. His full focus is in every performance he gives of this beautiful tribute to artists who lost their lives to drugs, and I'll never be able to perform it half as well as the man who wrote it.

What yougotta understand is that when you're interacting with blogs from a fictional universe, such as the English Willy saga, ya DON'T GIVE THE GAME AWAY. Don't just TELL THEM all the plot. Don't tell them exactly what's happening!! Don't tell them the important names!! Send asks and such but actually think through, how would a normal person respond to all this? How would a normal Tumblrina respond? The answer is YOU PROBABLY WOULD NOT FIND FUCKING EVERYTHING OUT IMMEDIATELY. The answer would probably be memes and clowning on things! If you wanna allude to things that will happen in the plot, ALLUDE to them. If you know that someone's gonna burn to death, say you hope the stress doesn't cause them to burn out. Please, my Tumblrinas, learn the art of subtlety in writing. You are not the main character in fictional universe blogs. It's okay.
