i refuse to believe that boycotting is hard. my favourite thing in the world is ordering maccies after a late night at work/a concert/getting drunk. yes i do miss it sometimes. but the other night i ordered from a small place near my house instead and it was the most orgasmic burger i've ever had in my life. i very rarely say this but fucking suck it up people are DEAD

#ramble #also only 0.29 delivery instead of 3.99 #and chilli cheese bites #i swear to god the best food you'll ever eat while drunk is from the tiny shithole that's open until 4am #if you're refusing to do literally the smallest thing you can do to help then i have questions #it's FOOD. you'll survive #it's not even NECESSARY food #if it was like a chain grocery place and you don't have access to anything else then i would understand #but it's just NOT #make your own coffee for the love of god #when there is NOTHING you can do to stop this fucking tragedy. and let's be honest there isn't a lot normal people can do #and people say to you 'do this insignificant thing just to show that you even CARE'#and you DON'T do that???? what is actually wrong with you #also i've been worried about this since my last post about sbucks but this is Not an attack on the people who WORK at the boycotted places #because it is an absolute privilege to be able to leave your job and immediately find a new one

According to Al Jazeera news website Israeli snipers are shooting patients and others sheltering in Al-Shifa hospital.

I don't think I really need to add to that. This is the depths with which the Israeli military are continuing to sink to and the horror they are bringing onto the world. Because the horror you feel reading those words, the sickness you feel at imagining it and the helplessness that you feel at not being able to stop it is all a violence that the Israeli military is committing against you too.

We are not getting as much information out of Gaza to keep us going in our protests, so it's time to make it feel personal to keep their voices going in the midst black outs and power shortages.

This isn't me being self centered by saying 'woe is us having to see this' it's about helping us continue to recognise the horror of the 62 or more war crimes that are playing out before our eyes rather than becoming desensitized to it as the governments siding with Israel want us to.

how is it so hard for people including my friends to boycott things it makes me go absolutely insane sometimes having to lead discussions about things like harry potter and jkr and now eurovision and israel.......there are a million other things in this world that you can do and concentrate on rather than spend time and money on these things

going outside and looking at flowers is literally free, staying at home and reading pride and prejudice may not be entirely free but is a much better alternative i promise you ( but just in case you can legally read it for free online right here: x )

#funniest thing is #was literally just telling a friend about jkr's latest descent into hell and how i'm also boycotting esc this year #when another friend texted me saying she can't make it for the actual esc watch this year #but she'd still like for us to watch it together #and i'm like...yeah no sorry no can do #to be fair she's american and doesn't follow things beforehand as avidly as me #but i hope she at least can see the light now that i've informed her how things are being handled by esc #now if only two of my friends could stop their hp obsession #i don't really stay quiet on this topic at all #esp after i had one of my trans friends commit suicide last year

actually cannot fucking stand when people take a serious issue & say bc of it's seriousness you have to do/not do minor thing that barely influences the issue as if it's akin to active support.

#this isn't about boycotts it's about pirating the work of shitty people when the art itself isn't similarly shitty #which i think goes into 'boycotts as a tactic' vs 'boycotts as ethical consumption'#& tbf any avoiding spending may have only the tiniest bit of impact w/o organising w/ others #but spending does also have the tiniest impact of benefitting the shitty company/individual in question #so i get boycotting as ethical consumption in that case #i don't get it as applied to pirating bc like. they are not benefiting from that. you just really hate this person & feel like everything t #ey touch is contaminated #which is valid but like. pirating their films/books/games/music is not supporting them unless you're doing massive stan posts on twitter pr #moting the stuff you pirated #(this becomes complicated when it comes to 'engaging with the fandom' bc the impact is even tinier but it does still exist depending on whe #her you're liking people's fanvids or writing fic or organising an entire ficathon - each w/ greater impact)#(whereas pirating and not saying shit has 0 impact)#pls stop pretending it's the same as being like 'actually this rape apologist fuckhead is right about everything and amazing'

the fact that Israel can precisely target ONE apartment in an entire residential block in BEIRUT to kill two hamas leaders, proves once again that they CHOSE to carpet-bomb Gaza and murder 31.000 Palestinians to "defend themselves" against Hamas. Israel CHOSE to kill civilians, they CHOSE to bomb every hospital, every school, every refugee camp, every residential block. israel does NOTHING to spare the lives of palestinians, they want to thin out the population of gaza so they'd be able to settle their citizens there.

this is a genocide it's an ethnical cleansing PLEASE WAKE UP don't stop talking about Palestine it is not a trend, people are still dying, Israel has no plan to stop if WE don't force it to, through public pressure and protesting and boycotting. it's the least we can do.

Reminder that boycotting DOES work, there is historic proof! Don't let anyone discourage you otherwise!

The BDS movement uses the historically successful method of targeted boycotts inspired by the South African anti-apartheid movement, the US Civil Rights movement, the Indian anti-colonial struggle, among others worldwide.

We must strategically focus on a relatively smaller number of carefully selected companies and products for maximum impact. Companies that play a clear and direct role in Israel’s crimes and where there is real potential for winning, as was the case with, among others, G4S, Veolia, Orange, Ben & Jerry’s and Pillsbury. Compelling such huge, complicit companies, through strategic and context-sensitive boycott and divestment campaigns, to end their complicity in Israeli apartheid and war crimes against Palestinians sends a very powerful message to hundreds of other complicit companies that “your time will come, so get out before it’s too late!”

It also kills me how many stopped boycotting or has never even tried to boycott.

Somethings are so small to do and easy yet people don't even bother when it's a genocide that has been going and going and going not since October 7th but for decades.
