Everyone SHUT UP i need a second to talk about the absolute perfect travesty of awarding the Life series winners (Grian, Peal, and Scott) the titles of the three tarot cards the Sun, the Moon, and the Star.

FIRST OFF?? The sun the moon the star is the WRONG order of how they show up in the major arcane!! The star is the 17th, moon the 18th, and sun the 19th!! It’s not exactly backwards but it IS out of order with The Sun being the first and The Moon as the most recent winner.

Now individually; Grian as the sun. The Sun is symbolic of life in full bloom, happiness and opportunity, it means success, it means the universe agrees with the path you’re on and the way ahead is clear. Grian, who accidentally indebted himself to scar, who fought against his soul bound the second he saw the other end. Who keeps killing the people closest to him. (He was only ever meant to watch)

Scott as The Star, it fits his aesthetic but BRO. The Star is healing, it’s renewal of old feelings, it’s a readiness to give and receive love. Scott, who divorced pearl right off the bat and picked a new soulmate who died in the end at the hand of pearl, who has continuously has partners who die before him every single time. (Oh look a poppy, what an ugly flower)

And Pearl, lovely Pearl, as the moon. The Moon, vague and unclear, things are not as they seem; deception. Usually caused by misunderstanding. Pearl, who was broken up with like 5 times and descended into her villain arc plain as day, who never really lied. Who still won at the end with forgiveness. (You came here and you caused death whether you tried to or not)

DOUBLE LIFE THEORY TIME:

*DL finale spoilers*

so I think most of us have seen the watcher/god theory's about the ll/al/dl series. (the theory that the victory becomes somewhat immortal). The theory also adds that the previous victory remembers parts or even the whole previous season.

Why is this important?

Well in double life the last remaining players is pearl and scott (weither or not they technically both win is presides the point) and scott decides to let pearl win saying "she deserves it".

You see where I'm going with this...

I think that Scott either throughout or at the end off the series remembered last life and knew winning wasn't as good as they had been led to believe (weither its immortality or just a bad afterlife) and gave up his chance of winning and gave it to Pearl knowing full well how bad it truely is.

And in his eyes pearl, the cheating murderess deserved this "prize". Like he's says "she's deserves it"

(also if you add the god/immortal theory that the previous winner created/caused the next season that makes it soo much darker, essentially passing the barden onto pearl)

Well! That was quite an episode!

I can't say any of my predictions came to pass at all in the way I thought they would. Okay, that's not entirely true, I did manage to predict "No Desert Duo win" and "SmallEtho die outside of PVP," but still. I mean, I guess I should have predicted that Cleo would turn in the endgame. She and Martyn are the consummate survivor types, and even an alliance that runs through the whole game can break at the end, but the suddenness and thoroughness of it was surprising. Maybe we'll see some regret from her POV, but who knows?

The biggest and best surprise by far was Pearl, who used the might of her dog army to absolutely pop off in the endgame and just slaughter everybody who opposed her. Love that for her, tbh, she's deserved it all season! The fact that Scott gave her the second dog to build her dog army and that they managed to basically reconcile by the end of the series was a really nice touch. And that finale... well, the Life Series games never do leave survivors.

I wish Double Life had gone longer, but I'm so pleased with the ending we got. Now, time for another seven POVs and then aaaalll the fanfic!
