Afternoon Tea, Utter Fail!

I will admit I love going for afternoon tea. And why not, you get a sandwich, scones, cakes and various assortments of wonderful delights. Then there is the company you share it with, all the conversation you have from silly stories, reminiscing, the laughs, the serious, the compassion shared and being there for those friends or family. But that aside would you say yummy tummy to this so called Gluten free/dairy free plate?

And where the hell are the sandwiches? I'd like to say that I rather like our Doubletree by Hilton in Aberdeen. I always feel like I'm on hols when I go in. But my mum, cousin and I could not contain the disappointment at being presented with this utter failure for what is meant to be a bit of luxury.

The thing that gets me more than anything is that I booked and explained my requirements two weeks in advance, that gave them plenty time to organise, the chef or whoever is in charge of this needs to seriously brush up, or needs to nip to the Asda superstore that is three minutes along with the road, were they have lots of choice, including gf scones, pancakes and cakes.

I will openly admit that this is not the first time I have been presented with an overabundance of fruit and sorbet on a gf/df afternoon tea. Eating establishments need to note this will never be acceptable to anyone with food intolerance, and in today's market there is no need to make us feel bad about our disappointment just because the chef/whoever has a major worry at getting it wrong and making us sick, especially when a simple phone call to discuss it further is all that's needed.

I did get a sandwich, but I had to ask for it and although I got the filing of my choice it didn't hold together very well and was certainly not up to the usual delicious standard that I've had at the Doubletree in the past.

I will in a few months time go back and order again and be so explicit as to my requirements and expectations and we'll see what happens then.

BATHROOM - Excellent (Bathrooms are the first thing I check for when I check into a Hotel room - For me it has to be equally GOOD as the room) and a well designed cozy Bathroom speaks volumes bout it s brand!! 5. FOOD - Good for Non-Vegetarians, Hardly any in-house menu for Vegetarians, & no Indian Food menu. Breakfast spread is good for Vegetarians too if you like Croissants, Muffins, Eggs, Toasts, etc., Else jus Fruits and Hash browns!! Hehe 6. STAFFS - Very Friendly and Helpful 7. CONCIERGE - Tour Activities are very expensive and there s not much to do in Bangkok anyways, so I would suggest not to waste your money on it. Instead select the places you really want to visit/see and do the sightseeings on your own as per your need. We opted for full day Taxi service costing about 1400tbh per day from the Hotel concierge for everyday to roam around Bangkok sightseeings the places at our own convenience. 8. LOCATION - Good - centre of the city, and if you are ok to walk you have Tesco Lotus, Big C, Coffee Shops, Salons, Massage Parlours, Restaurants including one Indian Restaurant & other stores within few kms. If you don't wanna walk or take the taxis, there are BIKE Taxis ready to take you for 20-40tbh to nearby places super quick! 9.
