i am single-handedly going to normalize being an adult without a drivers license.

it’s okay to be 22 and not drive. it’s okay to be older than that and not drive. don’t let people guilt trip you into thinking you should get your license if you don’t want it.

personally, driving scares the fuck out of me. i have anxiety and bad problems with zoning out and i feel like i would be a danger if i were to be on the road. the few times i HAVE driven i had to talk to myself the entire time so i didn’t clock out and hurt myself.

it’s okay to not have your drivers license for whatever reason. i love and support you no matter what!!

That mailbox came outta nowhere!

I was parking too close to the curb and nudged the box part with my rearview mirror, so instead of looking straight ahead, it was gazing off to the side like a monologuing soap opera character. I immediately drove off in a panic, only for a little voice inside my head (that sounded an awfully lot like my husband), "That's not the way you'd want to be treated, is it?" So I made a u-turn with a groan, strongly regretting both my poor parking skills and also marrying somebody with a conscience. I knocked on the victims' door only to find out from their neighbors that the people weren't currently in residence due to upcoming renovations. Still, the jig was up, so I left my contact info with the neighbors and consequently have been writhing in misery for a day or so until just a short while ago. They texted me to let me know that I don't need to worry about repair cost and they appreciate my honesty! I am so incredibly relieved I can go back to my regularly scheduled anxiety.

I am happy I am now a calm, defensive driver. I remember I used to be a stressfilled aggressive driver. I now give myself much more time to get places, and now I don't get too mad at people for not making a turn when they had plenty of room, or when someone doesn't go instantly on a light. I'm chill. I just let them do their thing, because to be honest I am sometimes like that. Too scared to make a left turn because traffic is going so fast. Not paying attention to the light because I'm watching the guy behind me scoot up so close to me that I'm afraid they're gonna hit me. I sometimes ride when my mom and she is the exact opposite. Screaming at drivers to "go" and getting so mad at people. Like, "mother chill, we are going to be there 20 minutes early for a reason. That reason is this. Letting people do their thing."
