What kind of world is Briar from? (ex. futuristic, “normal”, etc.) I would be more interested in hearing about the world building aspect of her world. Especially in relation to how she can use her powers. (Side note: Did you draw her on paper or digitally? The texture and colors are really nice! :))

Her world is pretty similar to ours in terms of the modern world, but the colors in her world are really bright & vibrant with soft blurred lines for the landscapes. It’s very picturesque & beautiful. If I had to give an art style it would be like a vintage oil painting with bold use of colors. The crime in her world is pretty similar to ours, but with a few supervillains to spice things up. But she tends to focus on crimes like what affected her family & dedicates a lot of time to freeing kidnapped victims. I like to think that her world has the same kind of music that ours does cause she is a HUGE Lana Del Rey fan (she’s a depressed bitch, what do you expect?) She likes the typical sad emo music but she also likes a lot of upbeat pop music, showtunes, & a few sea shanties lol, so not what you’d expect from a hardcore goth. & because it’s my world & I make the rules they have the And That’s Why We Drink podcast & it’s like her favorite thing to listen to. Like she’ll literally be swinging through the city or in the middle of a fight & she’ll be listening to the newest episode not giving a fuck if it’s “disrespectful” to the bad guy. It’s disrespectful to interrupt her while she’s trying to listen!

Her powers are pretty similar to Miles & Miguel’s (invisibility & fangs/venom) but while Miguel’s bite just leaves you paralyzed, hers takes a harder toll on the nervous system & depending on how much she gave them, it could kill them. If she does bite someone & they’re just a normal person, she’ll leave a little vial with a note next to their webbed up body that says something along the lines of “sorry, I bit this one, he left me no choice. Might need to go to the hospital, but he should be fine if you give him this :)” smiley face & all. But sex related crimes have really dropped since she stepped on the scene & she’s a pretty big feminist icon in her world. (One time Em & Christine mentioned her on the podcast & she freaked the fuck out & ran into a building)

I used the photo layers app to trace her out & make a transparent version cause I just like the look better than my kinda ratty sketch book lol

bitten by a radioactive spider while casing oscorp for a run of thievery with his best friend gwen stacy, 19 year old mickey quickly found he had extraordinary powers. which were a lot of help breaking into oscorp later that night :)

Two Hearts (Three Hearts Pt 2 of 3)-Chapter 1: Third Time's The Charm

Summary: Olivia gets Rosie back

“Doctor Octavius thank the stars you’re here, I need you to-” Thea hurried over to her, she snatched the clipboard and flipped through it.

“Uh-huh… these are too many business words, Fisk can handle it.” she waved her off.

“Fisk is still in prison,” Thea informed her.

“...He hasn’t gotten out already?” she asked.

“Apparently attempting to destroy New York City twice will make it much harder to buy yourself out,” Thea muttered.

“How long do you think it will take?” 

“Probably a week or so, but for now you’re going to need to take over, I’ve already called your lawyer friends, they’re coming over now-”

“Don’t we hire people to do these things?” she interrupted.

“Well yes, but they’re still recovering from-”

“You’re here, we’re here, they need to be here,” Olivia said as she went back to her office.

“Tell everyone to start cleaning up, make sure they don’t trace this back to Alchemex, we still have things to do.”

“That might be very hard to do-” Thea objected.

“Get it done Thea.” Olivia closed her office door in her face. 

Olivia took a deep breath as she heard Thea muttering angrily to herself as she walked out to clean up the mess. 

“Let’s get this collider started…” Olivia muttered, she was going to get Rosie back, and everything was going to be perfect.

She didn’t leave her lab for a month, the only person she talked to was Thea, everyone else was just a distraction. She was going to get Rosie back, no matter what. Alchemex employees gossiped behind her back, she didn’t care, let them talk. They didn’t matter. 

Repairing the collider was easy, and she wasn’t an idiot, she took another month to perfect everything, this was going to work, and finally, it was ready. She grinned as she put on her goggles, this was it, she was going to see Rosie again, she would have Rosie back…

She turned on the collider, she took a hair from Rosie's brush and inserted it, she found a match, although it was very weak, it was still a match. She set the coordinates, turned on her beat-up creation, and she waited… The collider burst to life again, Olivia gave out a triumphant laugh as she waited for her Rosie to come back. A figure fell out of the collider, the collider slowed to a stop as the body fell to the platform. 

I did it… It worked! I’m going to see my Rosie again! She thought as she clamored over to see her Rosie again.

…That was not Rosie.

Olivia poked the man, he was wearing a dark green turtleneck with a trenchcoat over it, he had actuators just like hers… but they were metal. They reminded her of her first actuators, the ones in middle school. Hers was better. He groaned. 

“Tyra…” he muttered. She raised an eyebrow, who the hell was Tyra? The man kept on muttering to himself, Olivia sighed. Whatever he was saying, It didn’t matter, this must’ve been another version of herself, which meant that it worked. She dialed in the coordinates that she got him from and frowned… He had a universe, 80085, great, she pressed the button and flung him up, he disappeared with a yell. Thank the stars that were over. She looked at the monitor curiously, it said he was from Earth 80085… but he never reached that Earth, strange. She looked and found several other universes that matched up with her DNA… she must’ve accidentally put her hair in. The universes were Earth 96283-1, 96283-2, 80085, and… another 1610, hers was labeled 1610-3. This was fascinating, she wondered what her counterparts would be like. That would be her next project, but now… Olivia plucked another hair and replaced it, it was Rosie's hair, the earth 96283-1 burned the brightest, that was her Rosie. 

“Sorry other Olivia Octavius…” she muttered as she pressed the button. The collider roared to life once again, and this time, a Rosie fell, but she wasn’t silent. She fell screaming.

 Brainy Barker (Earth-80085 Version): 

 What she’s from: Justice League of Animals, I guess. 

Appearance: (See above). 

Background: 

The mysterious, powerful, and beautiful leader of the Dog Star Patrol, not much is known about Brainy Barker compared to the team’s other members. What is known about her is that she’s from the far-off planet of Colu and is one of the most intelligent creatures in the galaxy, an uber genius even by Coluan standards. Her brain is enormous, and with its immense size came the gift of incredible mind powers, including precognition, mind reading, telepathic communication, telekinesis, and the ability to display thoughts and memories of her own mind and others’ minds on her giant brain like a video screen. However, it’s very difficult for her to walk with all of this brain and skull weight atop her. She can stand when needed, but she prefers to move around by levitating, which takes much less effort, and her cranium is kept stable with a bracer supporting it from beneath, crafted from reinforced Coluan steel. Even with her immensely heavy brain to carry around, she’s serene, wise, and caring, being as much a mother to the team as a commander. 

Like many others, she is now facing off against the Dark Multiverse. She uses her powers to review the possibilities of darkness, the things that went wrong in other universes that didn’t in the Prime Universes. 

How she is like me: 

We’re both pretty smart and caring. Being similar to a mother means is she is nurturing, similar to how I’m nurturing to Smokey, my dog. Serenity may be something that can be learned and practiced. And, at times, I work to practice it. 

How she is NOT like me: 

She’s serene and, likely, patient. As I said before, she and I are nurturing… however, there are certain places where I could improve on empathy and nurturing. Such as certain folks at CCI and crying babies.

5. how do you feel about Kira’s idealogy? MASSIVELY FLAWED. Like, come on dude. I get Light’s dad is a cop but... seriously? I think it shows me, on some basic level, that Light isn’t really concerned with ‘justice’ its all about POWER. If you wanted real change or a better world? There are so many other options. Especially if you, as Kira, possess some BASIC empathy. Like Google the 100 richest people on earth and start writing names my dude. Light wanted fear, spectacle. He cared about himself first. Everyone is secondary in Light’s savage little world view. Which is why he never even ponders if killing the FBI agents is good/bad. It’s “they threaten me so they must die”. 

15. Near or Mello? Ugh tough choice... I feel like they work best as contrasts? Like I don’t feel like you’d fully appreciate Near without Mello and vice versa. It’s both or nothing for me. 

21. if you could revive any character, which would you save? L, hands down. No question. He brings WAY too much to the story to kill him off. There is not a canon rewrite I would ever attempt without “L LIVES” scribbled furiously in the centre of my brainstorming whiteboard.

22. which moment was the most painful to watch? I’m actually going to say, what hurts me most is “Honor Bound” from the musical. Like I never thought much about Soichiro but... just.... he wants to believe, so whole heartedly, that his boy is good, inherently good, and he’s so blind to the horror of all Light is but there’s some real recognition lurking underneath you can feel in the depths of his very real fear. 

24. any headcannons you want to share? Ryuk had a “Hello Kitty” calculator and Light would detail some elaborate scheme in his bedroom before Ryuk would go

Meet Briar Sparks aka Spider-Goth

Earth 80085

Pronouns: she/her

Age: mid 20’s

Height: 5’7 (6’2 with the boots)

Briar grew up in the rural south with her parents & little sister & had to move to the city when she was 10 for her dad’s job. She spent most of her life in & out of hospitals because of health issues & underwent a handful of tests & surgeries to get answers (spoiler alert: they never got any straight answers & she felt like all of it was pointless torture) so she has a lot of medical trauma regarding doctors & hospitals & developed severe trust issues because of it.

Her personality is… not what you’d expect for the goth spider-woman. Or at least it used to be, she’s gotten way more angsty in recent years. She used to be really sweet & bubbly but now she’s very closed off & shy & just has this depressing aura wherever she goes. It’s a stark contrast to some of the older members of the Spider Society who knew her when she first joined. (“I just like the aesthetic & wanted something intimidating, it doesn’t mean I have to be a broody bitch.” *becomes a broody bitch*)

She likes a wide variety of music, mostly what you’d expect. Rock, alternative, edm, indie, but most shockingly showtunes. Enjoys singing, dancing, baking, art, video games, reading & writing. She was on the swim team & active in theatre in high school. She’s a horror buff & generic nerd. When not in her suit, her style is casual & full of splashes of color.

First canon event:

When she was 14, her younger sister Ashton went to the movies with a friend, & they never came back. Her family was used to the safety of the country & were used to letting their daughters go out on their own to play or head to town, as long as they let them know where they were going & when they’d be back. When she didn’t come home & they couldn’t get ahold of her when they tried to call, they started to worry. When the friend’s mom called to ask if they’d seen them, the panic set in. They checked the movies & asked to see the security footage from that day, & it confirmed their worst fear.

One of the parking lot camera’s saw the girls walking around the building on their way home when a car pulled up & threw them inside in a matter of seconds. The police immediately began investigating, they put out fliers & spoke on the news, begging for their safe return. It was a big story for a few months before the media lost interest, & eventually so did the police. People offered their condolences while insinuating that the girls were most likely dead by now & it was time to move on. This incident made her realize the horrific extent that crime can affect people and opened her eyes to the level of incompetence & neglect that law enforcement have towards victims of violent crime.

Second canon event:

In a matter of months after her sister went missing, Briar got deathly ill & had to be hospitalized. Long story short, she was finally properly diagnosed with a rare disease that shall go unnamed cause i can only self project so much

During her lengthy hospital stay, a spider escaped from the secret underground testing lab & managed to crawl its way to her room. She had been going downhill faster than the doctors could save her & she flatlined. As they tried to bring her back, the spider landed on her hand & bit her. The doctors & nurses were so busy trying to save her that they didn’t notice the loose radioactive experiment. The bite delivered a huge jolt of energy, managing to revive her.

At first she didn’t react well to the bite & was dry heaving for the better part of the next day before she started to make a miraculous recovery. Her symptoms went away on their own & her vitals improved drastically. They had no explanation for her sudden turn around, but there’s no need to hold on to a healthy patient. She developed her powers the day she was released from the hospital, but wasn’t aware of them until the following day when she wasn’t as exhausted.

Powers:

Because she’s immunocompromised & her dna was already mutated, the bite went a little haywire with her new abilities. She got the regular super strength & speed, spidey sense & climbing abilities, but she also got organic webs that shoot from her wrists. She can also turn invisible & has an incredibly high pain tolerance. After the bite she got fangs & her venom causes muscle spasms/cramps, fever & vomiting. The base genes of the spider that bit her was a black widow so her venom is very similar to theirs. This isn’t a part of her powers, but it is a part of her suit: she has brass knuckles that can turn into claws when she flexes her fingers.

Third canon event:

2 & a half years after she became her earth’s spider-woman she started to really get the hang of it & went on patrol for hours every day. It was on one of these patrols when her senses picked up a disturbance in a hotel across the city. As she was swinging through the buildings, she saw a girl leap out of a window from one of the top floors. Briar swung as fast as she could & when she thought she was close enough to save her, it was too late & her body made impact before the web could catch her. She rushed over in a panic because nothing like this had ever happened before & when she got close enough she realized it had been her sister.

Ashton was covered in bruises & fresh scrapes from the shattered glass of the window & was only wearing underwear & a bra with a torn off strap. The realization that she had been alive all this time & was being abused while the police had given up searching for her made her boil over in anger. She lashed out at the onlookers who were gawking at her sister’s body, demanding they look away & be respectful. A mother in the crowd who was clearly on the way home from the water park offered her a towel to cover her & she immediately pulled her into a long, desperate hug as she sobbed.

She heard the sound of distant sirens & jumped onto the side of the building, running up to the room where Ashton had jumped from. When she burst in the room, a half dressed middle aged man was running around the room frantically gathering his things & yelling at a crying, cowering girl in the corner. He froze when he saw her & began stuttering out an excuse, but she was on him in an instant. She was cussing him out, demanding an explanation & telling him how disgusting & worthless he is all while beating the living shit out of him. She literally beat him within an inch of his life & left him with venom coursing through his veins & webbed to the bed. She wrote the words “pedophile, rapist, murderer” on the walls in his blood.

She took the girl with her & dropped her off at a safe house with a way to get in touch with her family, & she gave her her personal contact info. Briar really cracked down on the human trafficking & abductions that were going on in the city & ended up finding the friend that had went missing with her sister. (But it wasn’t enough. Nothing would be enough to make up for what happened to her.)

Ok let’s lighten things up, that got a lil dark for a sec!

So how did she join the Spider Society? About 7 months after she was bit & became Spider-Goth, she was kiiinda getting her ass handed to her in a fight with her Green Goblin when this cool black & white detective type spider-man swoops in & helps out. She’s completely awestruck & begs for him to teach her how to be cool like him. So Spider-Noir takes pity on her & lets her tag along to HQ to see if he can pull a few strings. She’s still a bright eyed naive kid & just wants to be part of the superhero club so she just zones out the entire time Miguel is explaining how it all works.

She normally went on missions with Spider-Noir, Peter B, Jessica Drew & Hobie once he joined the society. (& of course my cousin’s spidersona, Go-Go Spider) But he called her a wanna-be poser cause she didn’t “live up to the aesthetic” when they first met & it really hurt her feelings. (No one knows how to hurt your feelings like a 15 year old you just met)

She’s managed to fly under Miguel’s radar- for the most part. She was introduced when she first joined (gotta get his seal of approval) but other than that tried to stay out of his way cause he intimidated her. She’s brushed him off when he’s called her for back up (she can’t help it if she’s sick or already in the middle of a fight! He just has bad timing! It totally has nothing to do with the fact she thinks he’s cute & thus tries to avoid him at all costs)

Tho she did have a little spat with him after her sister died. She was basically inconsolable & Jessica felt really bad for her & thought it might help if Miguel explained the whole canon event thing, & we all know how blunt he can be with that. He tried to tell her to move on & that this was destined to happen & it wasn’t her fault. She took it as him saying her sister’s only purpose was to die so that she could go on to do something great. It pissed her off & she punched him in the face & stormed off, & she’s kiiiinda been purposefully avoiding him since. Like if he calls she’ll stare at her watch until it stops ringing & then Noir calls right after & immediately picks up like omg hey bestie. Gets real awkward if they’re both calling her for the same mission ahshskdkd

Fr tho she has a big ol crush on Miguel & tries to avoid him at all costs because of it. She doesn’t even know what he looks like under the mask for the longest time, she’s just heard him talk & seen how he looks in the suit & decided that’s a purebred hunk right there & she’s angy about her feelings towards him. She goes the longest time without a proper introduction so he doesn’t even know her name. Hobie finds out & dares her to introduce herself as Ebony Dark’ness Dementia Raven Way. She says no of course but then he offers her 50 bucks if she does it so she says yes. He was lying, & she didn’t get her money but it was worth it to prank him.

 Krypto the Superdog (Earth-80085 Version): 

 Appearance: (See above). 

What he’s from: Justice League of Animals (or Metal or whatever). 

Occupation: Hero, reporter. 

Possible aliases: Krypto Kent, Skip Kent, Superdog, Kal-El (Earth-80085 version). 

Background: 

In some ways the Krypto of Earth-80085, which is one of the many alternate universes populated by anthropomorphic animals with their own super-beings, is INCREDIBLY similar to the Superman of Earth-Prime. Including their backgrounds and secret identities and the like. 

For example, this version of Krypto was sent from Krypton to Earth as a puppy before Krypton exploded, and was adopted by the “local” versions of Thomas and Martha Kent. As a Kryptonian, Krypto gained superpowers from Earth’s yellow sun. In his civilian identity, he is the mild-mannered reporter for the Daily Planet, Krypto Kent. 

Now, Krypto finds himself (and other heroes, as well as villains) fighting against strange, monstrous, horrific, and twisted versions of himself and his allies (and enemies)… creatures born of the Dark Multiverse! 

How he is like me: We are both friendly, loyal, honorable, helpful, and good-hearted. We may need to deal with ideas of self-sabotage and the like, and the thoughts of possibilities gone horrifying. 

How he is NOT like me: He rarely, if ever, loses control or loses his temper. And a good thing, too! Under a yellow sun, Kryptonians more or less find themselves living in a world of glass and paper. He also rarely, if ever, gets impatient. I seek to emulate him, somewhat, to become calmer and more patient.
