Steve going on a rant about the basketball game he just watched
Steve: *realized how long he was talking* Sorry, you probably don’t want to hear me talking about basketball
Eddie: Why not?
Steve: Cause you don’t care about sports
Eddie: Yeah sure. But I care about what you care about, so if you want to talk about it, I’ll listen
Steve: Even if you don’t like it?
Eddie: Especially if I don’t like it. You clearly want to talk about it and I’m happy to listen and engage with you about it if that’s what you want.
Steve: I would really like that
Eddie: Well then, continue. I’m invested now

okay i cannot shut up about them
steve being the one average intelligence friend among fucking geniuses (most of which are like fucking 13 year olds / all of which are younger than him) must be so damaging to his self esteem
because he’s only surrounded by child prodigies, a literal genius that’s fluent in several languages, and (probably the valedictorian if she wanted to be) a badass genius journalist, he has no example of what average intelligence is and just assumes he is stupid
which is not helped by the fact that everyone looks down on him/calls him an idiot/expects him to know everything!! so they just enforce this belief that he’s stupid and less than just because he’s not as intelligent as the rest of them
and then along comes eddie munson who failed senior year twice, yet is an amazing storyteller and genius DM, who knows about all these cool things and guess what? dustin looks up to him!
and steve knows dustin isn’t replacing him but dustin thinking he was cool was one of the only things holding his facade together
and then robin is only thinking about vickie and of course steve wants to help and he listens and gives advice, but robin was the only one who was around, who hung out with him, who listened
and max is isolating herself, and lucas has basketball and hellfire, and he doesn’t think nancy would ever want to be friends, so it’s. just him.
and then
and THEN
steve is walking through the upside down with eddie munson, and eddie references something he doesn’t get, and steve expresses his confusion and is prepared to be made fun of- but eddie just. tells him? explains it to him?
and it catches him off guard because no one has done that before, even as King Steve carol would roll her eyes and tommy would laugh whenever he asked them something. whenever he asked questions in class (which was rarely) the teachers told him he should’ve been paying attention but he was- he just didn’t get it
so steve tests it again later on and the same thing happens- even in front of the others, when steve asks a question eddie just tells him without poking fun and it’s… it’s really nice actually
once vecna is defeated and everyone survives (bc fuck you) steve continues to badger eddie with questions, looks to him whenever he doesn’t understand what’s going on and eddie will immediately explain it in a way he can understand
a while after they become good friends, steve just has to ask.
“does it get annoying?”
“…does what get annoying?”
“me asking you about stuff all the time”
but eddie just smiles at him, tells him how he actually loves that steve asks because it means he’s engaged and interested, when eddie is used to people getting bored of his rants/tirades
he tells steve that he loves explaining things to him, loves that he listens and pays attention and steve realizes oh, we’re kind of perfect for each other aren’t we?
he thinks he’s okay with that. especially if eddie keeps smiling at him and telling him about anything and everything he wants to

No because let’s figure this out, I just saw a tiktok about how Steve threw his shirt at Eddie when he clearly could’ve thrown it on floor of the boat, or give it to Robin or Nancy but decided to give it to Eddie instead.
This is what makes Steve and Eddie’s relationship so complex because on the outside we’re supposed to get the vibe of them not liking each other but then they turn around and do shit like this.
Steve reaching for the walkie talkie when he hears Eddie’s voice then immediately taking charge to find him, Eddie invading Steve’s personal space whenever he got the chance, genuine happiness and softness around each other, Steve telling Eddie not to be so hard on himself, the stolen glances done when nobody else is looking, both of them having rough experiences with family but making sure that their the best role models for Dustin, when Steve asked about what car Eddie didn’t shut him down with a slick remark when he easily could’ve because that’s what everyone does to Steve but shockingly his “rival” didn’t, the flirty gestures towards each other, then with their final moments Eddie made it his MISSION to call out only to Steve once he realized that they were separating and this was probably going to be the last time he’s ever going to say anything to Steve again.
Lastly Steve being hesitant to look at the board that had Eddie’s photo on it after everything that happened. It was obvious he wanted to look but kept his head at this angle instead of just looking. We never got to see what Steve’s initial reaction was when Eddie died but I like to think that it was a heavy feeling in his chest knowing that he was gone. Part of it was feeling bad for Dustin knowing how important Eddie was to him but he started to realize he developed these feelings for him that Steve thought were for Nancy because that’s what felt right at the time. Steve got it wrong and he hates that he didn’t get to tell Eddie how he really felt about him when he had the chance.
Their story could’ve been the best thing that’s ever happened in season for if it was written better and more risks were taken. Steve deserved his self discovery storyline when he started having trouble with women and later on he could’ve realized maybe it because he’s tire of the same thing, that’s when Eddie comes in. Eddie is different from anything Steve is used to in many different ways which is why they would’ve been perfect (opposites attract). Then Eddie’s story could’ve been taking Steve’s advice and giving himself some slack but still feeling like he didn’t need to run, Steve would be the one to tell him that running away doesn’t define him in the slightest. Eddie never thought he would take anything that Steve Harrington says but here he was listening to him like his life depended on it.
In the end they were perfect for each other, going from “hanging out with Eddie ‘the freak’ Munson, yeah I’ll pass.” “I wouldn’t save your ass under different circumstances.” (I can’t remember how he said it but you get the point) then going to “Eddie’s a wanted man we can’t just go for a hike in the woods.” “I couldn’t grasp the fact that Steve Harrington, is actually a good dude.”
I don’t understand how people think that they couldn’t work when they were written this way with so many moments between them even small ones that are too quick if you blink you’ll miss it. Steve and Eddie deserved better and they deserved each other.
(Sorry for the rant but I hate wasted potential)
Also Eddie giving Steve his vest??? LIKE COME ON HE WAS INTO THAT MAN!

a list of things we'll never get to see after vol. 2
i'm still sad and mad about eddie so i'm making it everyone else's problem
eddie and max being the best neighbors. eddie coming over to borrow some toast because he has absolutely nothing edible in his fridge anymore. max knocking on his door when it's already dark because her mom is too drunk again and she feels uncomfortable and doesn't know where to go and eddie is great at listening and distracting
them driving to school together in the morning in eddie's van and him showing her some of his favorite music and her actually liking it
eddie and robin bonding over a shared taste in movies come on you can't tell me these two don't love the same shit the fanfics don't lie
will visiting and playing dnd with eddie, dustin and mike or perhaps even all of hellfire <3
holy shit will laughing about eddie's jokes and antics
i just know for a fact he would have taught max how to play the guitar
more bickering between steve and eddie
eddie would totally start ranting to steve about a band he loves and steve would just stand there frowning a little and not understand a single fucking thing he's saying but as more time passes and they grow closer as friends he just tolerates it and it's not like eddie would stop anyway
no but fr eddie's dynamic with all the other characters. like we know how he acts with dustin and a little bit with mike and steve, we got to see him interact with erica, but i wanna know who he'd grow close with. who he'd have a love-hate relationship with and stuff like that
his backstory
corroded coffin gig
does eddie pass his finals omg does he get to graduate we need to know
eddie interacting with wayne. i just KNOW he likes to tease his uncle and provoke him but deep down they love each other so much
goofing around with dustin like they did on that field
omg he would definitely hype el up simply for having powers. like she could be walking into the room and he'd just cheer her on i know he'd find her so fascinating
wayne and eddie reuniting
eddie, argyle and a joint. all in the same room.
just imagine... chrissy's funeral and obviously eddie can't just show up there so he hides behind a nearby tree and silently mourns
oh eddie would so relentlessly tease lucas for skipping the dnd campaign for his basketball game even after lucas apologized like he would not let the poor guy live that down!!
but i'm also very much sure that if lucas continued to play basketball eddie would have made sure to show up to one of his games together with steve
and i'm so sure he'd just be everyone's best friend. like a brother to everyone. like, steve's the babysitter and eddie is the cool uncle who allows you to do all sorts of shit.
and he'd always listen to everyone's problems and immediately know how to cheer them up. he'd know if they wanna talk or just need some distraction and would make everyone feel so comfortable around him i just know he'd be such a wonderful friend and addition to the group
yeah okay i'm done now but also i'm ready to cry help we were so robbed

I think it is counter-intuitive if Steve died just cause eddie came back. But when you look at it from an industry pov their job is to quite literally play with emotions. There’s a reason ppl think Mike is safe because no one really likes him so he’s less likely to die since the finale should produce tears. So basically s4 pitted Steve and Eddie against each other as fan favorites and as Dustin’s favorite. It wouldn’t make sense for Steve to die if Eddie is already dead and out dustin through that much trauma but if Eddie comes back then killing off Steve is fair game because Dustin would have someone else to take care of him and Robin now has Nancy. And all the teasing they’ve done in S4 with Steve dying would end with gut wrenching sobs. It’s like when endgame came out everyone knew someone was going to die but didn’t know who. Like many movies and series follow the same formula of who can we kill off that’ll produce the most tears sort of thing. Like having a happy ending is overrated in the industry now which sucks cause sometimes it’s needed! Anyway thanks for listening to my long winded rant lol I took a class about this in uni about film and commercial business and thought I’d share some insights
Oh that’s interesting that you actually took a film class and analyzed these things!
But yeah, I understand. I feel like anyone is at risk in season 5. I have to say one thing, if Steve does die, at least it would be the final season and it’s not like you have to go on in the series without your favorite. Similar to this I’m thinking when they killed off Carl and then Rick in The Walking Dead, both of who were my favorite characters and then there were 2-3 seasons without them. Like that sucked.
But, I still want Steve to come out of it alive and get a happy life like he deserves 🥺

March 21st, 1987
It was Thursday night, and both the Byers and Hopper side came together for the first time for dinner. Jim and Joyce were now serious, and they figured now was a good time for both families to interact.
Both Will and El hadn’t interacted a whole lot, but tonight would be an opportunity for them to get to know each other a bit better.
Johnathan and Emma on the other hand, knew each other more, but were not 100% close either.
Jim and Joyce had decided to go to a local Italian restaurant, a place where everyone will like what is served. Compromise.
Hopper, Eleven, and Emma were the first ones to arrive, and about two minutes later, the Byers had entered.
After being seated, there was a few moments of silence while everyone looked at their menus, while at the same time figuring out what to say to each other.
“So,” Hopper began, “How’s everyone’s life going?”
“Good.” Johnathan and Emma responded
Hopper and Joyce looked over at Eleven and Will, while Johnathan and Emma turned around to look after they didn’t respond
Will and Eleven were sitting across from each other, staring into each other’s eyes intensely, almost as if they were communicating through telepathy.
“Will? Jane?” said Joyce
They had the same response as Johnathan and Emma, but almost immediately went back to staring at each other.
“So Johnathan, how is university coming along?” Jim asked, “And how’s Nancy?”
“It’s going good, I have a few exams coming up in a couple of weeks.” Johnathan responded, “And me and Nancy are doing well, thanks for asking.”
“Very good.” Hopper smiled
“And what about you, Emma?” said Joyce
“It’s good. Zoology is interesting.” Em replied
“I bet it is!” said Joyce, “Oh, how’s your mother and stepsister doing?”
“They’re good, me and my sister Lucy’s relationship is better than it was two years ago of course.” Emma laughed
As Joyce, Johnathan, and Emma were in their own conversations, Jim had zoned out and looked over at Eleven and Will.
They were still staring into each other’s eyes intensely, not looking away nor blinking. Almost as if they were having an internal conversation with each other; another language nobody else could understand.
“Jane. Will.” said Jim, “Join in on the conversation.”
The two of them had broken eye contact, and joined in with the rest of them.
“Do you guys stare at each other like that when you hang out?” Johnathan chuckled
“We’re only now getting to know each other.” said Will
Emma gave her younger sister a look, in which Eleven responded with an annoyed expression.
As far as the night was going, all of them felt some sort of connection with each other, aside from Joyce and Hopper, who had already felt a connection between each other a long while.
Johnathan and Emma knew each other since it was only four of them including Nancy and Steve in their group, but Johnathan and Emma were getting to know each other a bit better.
As for Eleven and Will, it was almost as if they felt an immediate connection right away.
Because who knows, they could be possible step siblings very soon.

April 3rd, 1987
It is just after 5:30, and Ella was going to head to Beverly’s house for the night. After she finished her mother’s chicken noodle soup. But she knew her and Beverly would be having takeout later on, but she’d never tell her mother of course.
“Okay Ellie bear,” said Sonia, “Make sure you take your vitamins with you, or you will get sick.”
She didn’t like being called Ellie, and her mom was the worst for saying it. But as normal, gave her a fake smile and replied with “Yes, mommy.”
“Good girl, and make sure it’s just you and Marsh tonight, aside from her guardian.” Sonia continued, “If you shower, make sure you use towels Beverly hasn’t used; I wouldn’t want her to give you any STDs or AIDs.”
At this point Ella wasn’t listening, and made her way to the porch to get ready to leave.
“And where do you think you’re off to?” Eddie came in, sounding just like their mom
“I told you earlier, Bev’s.” Ella responded, “And by the way, you’re my twin brother, not mom.”
“I’m older than you, I know what’s best.”
There hasn’t been a week where Eddie hasn’t said that to her.
“Yeah, right.” El responded, and shut the door behind her
She made her way down the path which lead to the end of their driveway, and Richie was just lurking around the corner, headed up the path.
“Hi Ella.” Richie said smugly
“Don’t talk to me, trashmouth.” El mumbled, still pissed about the ridiculous April Fool’s jokes he pulled the other day
“What did I do?” said Richie, “All I did was pour water in your backpack on Wednesday!”
“You also trashed my room and went through my stuff when you were up on Wednesday you sicko!” Ella said annoyed
“You like it.”
She gave him the bird in response, not wanting to be bothered with Richie
“Rude!” said Richie, “I’m going to tell Mrs. K you were not being nice!”
“Perv!” she said while punching in the arm, then ran off
As soon as Ella hit the next block, she caught her breath and chuckled at what she did, not wanting to show any sort of emotion around Tozier
Later on that night, Beverly and Ella walked the streets that evening after dinner, getting up to shit neither Bev’s aunt or Ella’s mom would not approve of.
That stuff being two sixteen/fifteen year old girls walking around at night.
But as long as they didn’t find out.
Eventually, the two of them made their way back to Bev’s apartment, as they were both getting exhausted
It was 11 o’clock when they got back, but they decided to go to bed earlier than they normally would. But would stay up chatting for a while, of course.
This time Ella slept on the floor. Tonight Beverly was feeling okay, and wasn’t getting any sinister flashbacks about her now deceased father.
“Did you get up to much after school today?” Bev asked
“Not really,” El responded, “Eddie has turned into our mom, and Richard is a douche.”
“Oh dear, what did those boys do this time?” Beverly chuckled
Though it was all minor, she still gave a short rant about the two.
“But why did Richie go through your stuff?” Bev questioned, “Based on what you told me and what trashmouth has done to you in the past, it does sound to me that he likes -”
“No Bev,” El rolled her eyes, “Not gonna happen. I can’t see myself going after my brother’s friend.”
“You suuure?” Beverly smirked
“Yes, please stop.” El chuckled, “How’s you and Ben doing anyway?”
“We’re good”
Ella just then remembered of what happened a month ago the night she looked after Georgie. Bill had originally asked Bev to do it, but Beverly had to cancel last minute.
El vaguely remembers Bill giving her the key, and played a game or two with Georgie before he did his own thing and she sat in the living room.
Nothing seemed too out of place until Georgie stared at her with a creepy grin from across the room before muttering “Come join the clown, Eds.”
“Uh, what?” El asked, confused
“I saw a clown before.” Georgie giggled, “He was so funny!”
Then, would go back to himself. No more creepy grin, and Georgie continued as if that episode never even happened.
She had mentioned it to Bill when he got home later that evening, and Bill was slightly suspicious himself. Though he had said this rarely happened, and brushed it off as Georgie’s imagination going wild. Besides, Georgie hadn’t done anything else that entire night.
Eddie had told her about a particular clown the other losers faced months before El had joined them. Could it have been the same one?
Ella had mentioned that to Beverly on the spot, and Bev’s expression changed as she stared up to the ceiling, heart thumping
“Something wrong?” El asked
“Did you see anything?” Bev questioned
“No, why?”
“Okay. I just hope It’s not back.” said Beverly, “I could have sworn we killed that clown two years ago. Did you feel like you were being watched after Georgie said that?”
“Kind of, but I guess that’s just because it freaked me out.” Ella brushed it off
Beverly sat up in bed, wondering why this happened. Though Ella’s weird encounter with Georgie happened a month ago, no one has gone missing in Derry-Hawkins.
El mentioned that she forgot about it as soon as she left, and as did Bill, as he did not mention it to the group.
“You know, I see why Eddie is overprotective of you.”
“Nah, he’s just being his bossy self, Eddie might as well be my second mom.” Ella shrugged
“No El, you don’t understand!” Beverly insisted, “He doesn’t want you to be in any form of danger, or fall into It or whatever is out there’s clutches.”
“But what else could be out there? I thought you guys said It was gone?”
Both the losers and the party have encountered seeing something weird one by one, but no one could lay a finger on it. No one has gone missing since two years ago, and Derry-Hawkins was considered safe again, even though the 7 pm curfew sign was still up in front of Derry High, two years later.
The Derry police never did take it down.
Beverly sighed, not knowing how she was feeling at this point, but mostly fearful
She felt this chill go up her spine, and realized El was the newest member of the losers club, and hoping It wouldn’t come back for El, since she too was a girl.
But It can’t come for her though, Beverly thought, It only comes out every 27 years, right?

My First and Worst Year: Producing A Show
I get caught up in the gossip. Shitting on comedians that I barely know. I'm trying to stop that. Early on, I was one those guys that would say something negative because I was trying to start a dialogue and reinforce any negative feelings I had about someone. Usually based in nothing; maybe one lousy first impression or through the grapevine on Facebook. Unfortunately, talking shit is a major way to bond with other inexperienced comics. A lot of miserable, sarcastic, unmotivated, boring comics. Or 10+ year comics that bitch about how unfair everything is. They can't talk to you for 30 seconds without shitting on something.
Now I know that's not me. I never feel good about it and it never helps.
The comics I look up to are modest, rarely say anything bad about anyone because they're just focused. They don't feed the fire. I'd rant about something and they wouldn't have anything to add to it. Maybe something along the lines of,
"Yeah, that can happen," kind of response.
I'd see the look on their face. I'm the problem.
I was the same way in Junior High. Picking on the popular kids and being obnoxious because I was so desperate to be a part of their circle. Afraid to be myself. Afraid to put in that kind of work.
I'll be obsessed with some idiot for hours on a Facebook thread, so tempted to participate in the attack, but where is it going to get me? Fuck, I could've written something. I should be writing jokes now, but I think I know something about blogging and comedy! I feel like I'm just regurgitating boring opinions that have been voiced on hundreds of podcasts already, I'll try to pepper this section up! Check out this sweet ass pimp kitty vest!
I always want to prove myself to other comics. An audience of strangers is always amazing, but I do feel the pressure of an all-comic mic. It's way too important to me. I don't want to be written off, I know I can be funny. Maybe not the last 20 times you saw me, but I'll get there, don't write me off!
When I had a decent set in front of someone I respected, I felt like I could check that off. Okay, that person doesn't think I'm a piece of shit anymore. I proved myself. Getting closer to being an actual comic! Every good set is a stepping stone. My bad sets would just temporarily render me useless. Instead of doing my homework and adjusting, I would just write something new or beat a bad joke into the ground. Maybe it'll work the 27th time.
"The people that go to Burning Man only need these two words to communicate: Burning...man!"
*crickets slashing wrists*
I bombed in front of Sean Conroy and took it kind of hard. Intimidating dude, (like the Ron Perlman of improvisation) he was sitting in the front row at Echoes Under Sunset with his arms crossed, waiting for his set and just watching me hang myself. He'd probably seen a thousand variations of the heckler character I was doing. I picked on him in character, but he wouldn't roll with it. Why would he? It was more fun to watch me squirm.
Every time I asked him a question he would answer,
"Sure."
Which is sort of the "fuck you" version of "yes and,"  It's an improv thing.
I was berating the audience for being a bunch of hipsters. Yelling out,
"Well I got something for ALL OF YOU!"
Then I started handing out free coffee coupons from a local coffee shop. Sean politely declined.
I had my bombing routine where I would call up Claire afterwards and tell her I just ate shit. Or who I ate shit in front of. She would convince me that it was okay, everybody bombs, and remind me that I'd had good sets before. She would tell me that she loved me and make me feel better about what had happened. Oh, there is life after tomorrow, I forgot! Thanks, baby!
Claire understands the grind. She's a fan of a lot of the people I look up to and we listen to a lot of the same podcasts now. She got into Jen Kirkman and The Longshot Podcast early on and now she subscribes to more comedians than I do. We went to Power Violence and a number of shows at The Improv. Pete Holmes, Todd Glass, Ron Lynch, Eddie Pepitone, Maron, Sebastian, Ian Edwards, and Tig- we love Tig. She pushed me to go on the road. She encouraged me to stop using the train and take her car instead. She makes this all possible. It's unbelievable. She even made cookies when I produced my own show.
I'd done a couple of shows at The Lexington with Tony Bartolone where I did some character stuff. I played a wrestler, a heckler that takes on Mr. Goodnight and a squarish Steve Allen type talk show host. Anyway, the owner liked me enough and said if I ever wanted to use the space, hit him up.
Tony was nice enough to help me too, he ran sound for me. Uggh, I didn't even give him a fucking spot and he ran sound for me- that's how great a guy he is and how SELFISH I can be.
I think the best thing in comedy after doing standup is booking your own show. Reaching for the stars, pulling in friends, what a great position to be in! Compiling a fantasy list of mostly male comics and shooting them a message on Facebook.
So if you're a new comic wondering, how the hell do I get booked on a show?
Well, a moron like me could accidentally see you at an open mic and then end up liking you! And I'm the guy who did a shitty set before you, remember? You never know who could be running shows.
Most people got back to me pretty quick. Comedians love a full calendar.
I adored The Walsh Brothers. So original and twisted. They blew my mind at TigerLily and I finally met the guys through a mutual friend.
Brian Scolaro was someone I had talked to outside of The Comedy Store. He's one of the first comics to give me any kind of advice,
"Don't move To Long Beach."
I was a fanboy of Dean Delray. I heard Matty Goldberg on Danny Lobell's podcast and dug his book about his friendship with Angelo Bowers. Ron Babcock was one of the friendly guys on the scene, loved his standup. I'd worked on a webseries with Paul Danke. Just met a lot of the other comics at open mics. I worked with Jeanne Whitney at Arclight Hollywood and we started standup around the same time. I watched Timika Hall do her first set at Echoes Under Sunset and she was great! Ester Steinberg cracked me up at The Palace and then I wanted to book her after I saw this sketch. She just happened to be hanging out with Neel Nanda when I was booking him, so I got both of them right then and there.
Robert Vertrees was brand new like me, but I just dug his story.
I knew I'd never have to worry about Ken Garr.
Just read his awesome blog entry "One Year Later and Why I Should Quit"
I should've taken note and made my blog shorter! That dude is a complete professional and will never hesitate to give you his tour dates at the MGM in Las Vegas.
Jak Knight was edgy and exciting. Jon Durnell was the best thing about a bringer show I did at the Formosa. I didn't even know Lisa Landry, but Brian asked if she could be on. Same thing with Kevin James Moore, a buddy of Matty's.
Maagic Collins is one of the kindest souls I've ever met. I love his standup. He would show up to my afternoon Tribal mic on Saturdays. Very supportive guy.
I think I saw Rick Wood at Power Violence and he just blew me away.
Anyway, you get the fucking point, this was just an excuse to drop everyone's links. Jesus Christ.
One time I made the amateur mistake of messaging too many people at once and then having to tell one comic I'd put them on the next show. I got a lot of grief for that and I was pulling my hair out. I was getting a guilt trip from the disappointed comic and now I didn't want to book him at all. It was totally my fault, but I was just getting through the learning curve. Book carefully, and wait for your damn responses.
Another recurring thing that kept coming up is a comic wanting to bring a friend for a guest spot. It's a good rule of thumb to keep a spot open for a possible drop-in. Or just book less comics Marty. Aren't you glad you paid $200 for this helpful comedy workshop tip?
I was also planning on doing all these wacky sketches and transitions that had nothing to do with the stand-up comedy. I wanted to make it an event. I asked Chris Walsh if we could have an extended dialogue where the Walsh Brothers get in an argument with me and then pretend to shoot me from the audience...so now I'm suddenly on the level of The Walsh Brothers! Proposing bits. Chris was really nice about it and declined in the best way possible. He made me realize that I should only work on the hosting- not all this extra dressing. I'd be stressed out enough. Plus, The Walsh Brothers have their own thing going on and it's hilarious.
Claire helped me with some basic PR stuff; shooting out emails to various websites with LA calendars of events. Lot of people check online for free entertainment. I hit up LA Weekly early enough to get this delightful blip:
Did I pay anyone? I paid Dean Delray. I paid Brian Scolaro. It seems a little unfair now, I had The Walsh Brothers, Ron Babcock, Paul Danke, and Matty Goldberg, who all have a shitload of experience.
I got this dumb idea that I should write thank you notes to everyone else. Looking back, I gave comedians false hope of money in those envelopes, only to find a badly scrawled "thank you" with some shitty stick figure doodles. At least there were cookies at the gig.
Brian mentioned the 50 bucks onstage and I was really embarrassed. It exposed the inner-workings of my inexperience and that I was holding out on everyone else. I think I would do it differently now, but it was a free show.
Tony watched me have a mini-meltdown. I was stressing out because there was a band that was booked on a show immediately after and it was clear that I was going to run over their time. I thought if I gave up my own set and kept bringing the next comic up, we'd finish on time without cutting anyone's sets down.
Tony explained to me that I shouldn't of worried about that, that it was worse to bring the comics up cold. It's better to keep the audience warmed up, but I was hopping back on stage saying,
"Give it up for Ron Babcock, and now let's keep it moving- Matty Goldberg!"
I didn't get it. I thought running over my time would fuck things up and I'd never get to do a show again. I shouldn't of booked so many comics anyway- Paul Danke was going on dead last, and he'd been waiting around so long, I felt horrible. I should buy his album.
So don't sacrifice your time for the sake of the next show- be a good host, Wurst.
But that first show had a great turnout, especially for The Lexington. The comics were kind of impressed. That extra leg work paid off.
I remember I wanted to bring Dean Delray up to a Led Zeppelin song and I kept bothering Tony about it when the order changed. Then when the music came up, Dean was clearly stoked and that little moment meant a lot to me.
On his way out he yelled,
"Congratulations on your 1st year of stand up!"
Speaking of which, I asked Melina Paez if I could be in her "DropTheSoapTV" series, where comics do stand-up in her shower. It was a fun way to cap off my first year.
Okay, that was rather manic. Just a couple steps away from Denis Leary- uggh. Anyway, I STOPPED doing that. Here's a message to myself as I time-travel back to the shower,
Horrible jokes, asshole! Your taint is hilarious by the way.
I just want to thank the people that encouraged me or gave me useful information when I started bumbling my way through open mics that first year (July 2013-2014)

I'm gonna be that person and ask you ALL of them! ;P (Also I've been meaning to message you lately!!)
... Well, I walked right into this one. Oooookay then, let’s do it.
1. selfie
N/A
2. what would you name your future kids?
Good question. I’ll answer you when I have any and I’ve made up my mind.
Seriously though, I have no idea. It’d probably depend on how I feel at the time and how my possible future wife would feel. I’d like to name any kids I have after characters I’m fond of, maybe Peter for a boy after Peter Parker. Probably give him Clark as a middle name too after superman. On the off chance I ever marry a Japanese woman though I’d insist we name our son Goku, but that’s a very specific situation so I don’t see it happening.
I guess if I ever had a daughter I’d name her Prima after my mother.
3. do you miss anyone?
My mother, my paternal grandparents, and all of my old pets that have passed away.
4. what are you looking forward to?
Tonight’s Dragon Ball Super episode and the My Little Pony movie. Also, my dog’s having puppies in a week, so that’s exciting.
5. is there anyone who can always make you smile?
My mum probably could have
6. is it hard for you to get over someone?
Are we talking in a romantic relationship ending sense or a friendship ending sense? If it’s the former I have no idea, no dating experience. It does take me a while to get over not talking to a friend anymore, but I cope pretty easily after a while. I like keeping to myself for the most part, I don’t have a lot of friends offline so it’s not too big a deal for me.
7. what was your life like last year?
Pretty meh, had a number of ups and downs, some really bad days, and some very good ones. And of course I discovered just how unbearably frustrating and depressing politics can really be and how much America and my own country make me want to bang my head against a wall. So, not a great year, but for me personally I coped alright. I just wish I’d done more to move forward with my life, like finding a full time job. i’m stuck in part time and I’m still looking.
8. have you ever cried because you were so annoyed?
I don’t think I’ve cried for that kind of reason. I usually only cry if I’m very sad or depressed over something, extreme annoyance tends to manifest in anger, ranting and fidgeting for me.
9. who did you last see in person?
My dad. He’s downstairs from me. Same as my sister. I just got back from seeing my nan aswell.
10. are you good at hiding your feelings?
Don’t think so.
11. are you listening to music right now?
No
12. what is something you want right now?
A cola lolly. I just finished the one I had.
13. how do you feel right now?
Alright.
14. when was the last time someone of the opposite sex hugged you?
My nan about an hour and a half ago when I left her house.
15. personality description
Nice and well meaning, and also a big idiot with low self esteem and easily frustrated, but ready to do whatever I can to help.
16. have you ever wanted to tell someone something but you didn’t?
Yes. Can’t think of any specific cases right now
17. opinion on insecurities.
They sure are worrisome?
18. do you miss how things were a year ago?
NO!
19. have you ever been to New York?
Nope. Only other countries besides Wales I’ve said foot in are England, Kenya, and Ibiza.
20. what is your favourite song at the moment?
None. I don’t really have favourite songs
21. age and birthday?
23 and February 7th
22. description of crush.
Non-existent.
23. fear(s)
Spiders
death
disappointing people
failure
24. height
No idea. I never measure myself. Around six feet though, I would imagine
25. role model
Real life: Jesus Christ, Lewis “Linkara” Lovhaug, my mother, Stan Lee.
Fictional: Peter Parker, Clark Kent, Son Goku, Steve Rogers
26. idol(s)
Isn’t this the same thing as role models? If so, then the above examples basically qualify. If this is the music term, then none.
27. things i hate
Pretty much every selfish, cruel, hateful and all around bad trait that people can have. Also, Sports. I HAAAAAAATE sports.
28. i’ll love you if…
You give me money :P
Kidding. I’ll love anyone just so long as they’re kind hearted, thoughtful and nice to me.
29. favourite film(s)
It always varies depending on how I feel at any given time. Some examples would probably include Spider-man 2, DBZ: Battle of Gods, Kiki’s Delivery Service, Wolf Children, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Tangled, The Avengers and Rugrats: The movie
30. favourite tv show(s)
Dragon Ball/Dragon Ball Z/Dragon Ball Super, Spider-man: The Animated series, Rugrats, Ed Edd n Eddy, My Hero Academia, Power Rangers Wild Force, Justice League, Spectacular Spider-man, Digimon Tamers, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
31. 3 random facts
I named my first cat Socks.
I Didn’t realize there had ever been any cast changes on Mighty Morphin Power Rangers until Kimberly left because I missed the episode writing out Jason, Zack and Trini, so I somehow didn’t notice that the black and yellow rangers were being played by actors of completely different races in the later parts of season 2 and season 3 until years after the fact. No, seriously, I was just that stupid as a really little kid.
Once when I was a kid I drew on the walls of my parents bedroom to make the place look like a jungle, as well as drawing whiskers and animal markings on me and my sister’s faces. I don’t remember it honestly, but I can tell my parents were mad about it.
32. are your friends mainly girls or guys?
In school most of them were boys, same for at work because there are only two women at the kennels compared to two male co-workers and my male employer. Online I’m friends with more girls than guys though.
33. something you want to learn
How to make YouTube reviews in the style of Brony Analysts like Silver Quill and Commander Firebrand. I’d like to make reviews of animation and comics, and comics related media into a hobby. but I have no idea where to start.
34. most embarrassing moment
I tend to repress those memories straight to heck, so I can’t tell you
35. favourite subject
Anything involving learning about animals.
36. 3 dreams you want to fulfill?
Being rich.
have a pet tiger.
Bring about world peace.
Something tells me none of them are coming true any time soon though. But hey, most dreams are unrealistic.
37. favourite actor/actress
I sincerely have no idea. Very hard to pick, and I don’t follow any actors religiously
38. favourite comedian(s)
Linkara
39. favourite sport(s)
NONE!

My holidays to Africa

No idea.
46. what my last text message says
“Can you pick up the prescription on your way home please?”
-My dad, in relation to his and my sister’s medication I picked up from the doctor’s. I actually couldn’t pick it up until the next day, but I forgot to tell him that sooner.
47. turn ons
If you mean this in the way I think you mean, then I’m not answering.
48. turn offs
See above.

A Rant: IndyCar on ABC
Thank God ABC’s portion of the IndyCar season is over for the rest of the season and the television coverage now moves to NBCSN. ABC’s coverage of IndyCar is just atrocious. It is a literal joke and often infuriates the diehard fans. There are several key factors as to why ABC’s IndyCar coverage is so awful, and here’s my thoughts on what makes ABC’s coverage so bad.
1: Too many commercials. I took count of the commercial breaks that occurred during yesterdays Race #2 from Detroit (without the ones during the red flag period, more on that in a minute,) and here’s what the breakdown of commercials looked like: (SBS means that that set of commercials were shown “side-by-side” with the race coverage taking a small part of the screen.)
Lap 5 (SBS), 13, 18 (SBS), 25 (SBS), 30, 36 (SBS), 42 (SBS), 50, 54 (SBS) and 58 (SBS). So, not counting the red flag period, that’s ten commercial periods across a 70 lap race. That’s an average of a commercial every 7 laps, and most commercials lasted about two laps, so that means we get to see about 5 laps of racing before we get assaulted with more commercials. I know that, especially in this time in history, money rules the world and commercials help keep the broadcast going, but holy hell. That was absurd, and it’s ALWAYS like that. It’s so hard to keep up with a race when we go to commercial every 5 laps. And another thing: during that red flag period, there were three commercial breaks, which is totally understandable since there was absolutely nothing going on. BUT, two of those commercial breaks were the “side-by-side” commercial breaks which meant that half of our TV screen showed commercials while the other half showed the cars stopped in the pit lane. Why the hell can’t we get SBS commercials DURING the race instead of during a red flag or a caution period? It happens frequently where we are under caution and ABC decides to take a commercial break and go “side-by-side.” What sense does that make? That just means that we have to deal with a full-on commercial break during green flag running. It’s just absurd to me that we barely get to enjoy our race because ABC feels the need to promote their new stupid shows every 10-minutes. (Also, does Steve Harvey REALLY need another show?)
2: The people behind the scenes, who choose what pictures the fans see, miss A LOT of action. Next season, when ABC comes back, I challenge anyone at home to pay attention to the ticker at the top of the screen that shows the positions of the drivers. You will notice that positions change under green flag conditions without a pitstop occurring, and ABC will never show a replay of that pass. I fully understand that it’s impossible to catch every single pass live as it happens, but the least they could do is show us a replay. Apparently at the end of yesterdays 2nd Detroit race, Conor Daly got shoved out of the groove and fell from 10th down to 12th. The fans at home never even had a clue that that event occurred. The only reason I found out about it was because Conor tweeted about it after the race. I shouldn’t be discovering things like that after the race on twitter. Where’s the replay? And this isn’t an isolated incident. For example, a lot of people thought that this years race at St. Pete was a little boring, but I disagree. I was paying close attention to the ticker at the top of the screen and I saw a lot of position changes that we never got to see a replay of. So ABC may have showed us a boring race, but a boring race is not what occurred in St. Pete this past March. What a shame that the product is right there before their eyes, but they fail to present that product to the fans at home.
3: The Broadcast Booth: This is usually the main talking point with fans about ABC’s coverage. Here’s my opinion, Allen Bestwick is a really good broadcaster when he’s with the right people. We’ve seen this when he was the lead broadcaster for NASCAR on NBC with Wally Dallenbach Jr. and Benny Parsons. He’s enthusiastic and understands auto racing, he does a great job presenting the product to the fans. The problem with ABC, in my eyes, lies with one of the driver-analysts. I may not have the popular opinion on this, but Scott Goodyear is not the problem. Is he a little boring to listen to? Yes, he is. However, when Allen asks Scott a question, Scott gives a very educated and insightful response. When I listen to Scott Goodyear, I feel like I’ve learned something. And that’s all you could ever want from a driver analyst. I’ve really grown to respect Goodyear because of his work in the booth over the years. The problem with ABC’s booth is solely on Eddie Cheever. I don’t even know where to begin with this guy. First of all, he’s extremely arrogant. Just because he won the Indy 500, (during the IRL-era without a major team/major talent to compete against, just saying,) he thinks that his opinion and his feedback is way more important than anyone else’s thoughts. Plus, it’s really annoying when I’m watching the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg and every five seconds, I hear Eddie Cheever talk about how when so-and-so leads the race, it’s helping them for when they come to Indianapolis for the 500. WHAT?! How the HELL does leading a race at St. Pete give them an advantage for the Indy 500? It doesn’t! And I don’t care what Eddie says, when the St. Pete race is going on, I guarantee you that Rossi isn’t talking to his engineer about what their fuel strategy is going to be during the Indy 500. These drivers and teams are always focusing on the task at hand, and when they’re at a street circuit, they are definitely not strategizing/planning for Indianapolis. MAYBE some of what the teams do at St. Pete can help them for the Indy road course, but not the oval. He’s so caught up in his own little world that he refuses to acknowledge what’s clearly shown on the TV screen. For example, at the Indianapolis 500 this year, we had just gone to the red flag because there needed to be repair work done to the catch fence from Scott Dixon’s horrifying wreck. And Eddie Cheever tries to claim that Dixon didn’t hit the fence, he just bounced off the top of the SAFER barrier. Even Allen Bestwick had to inform Eddie that of course he hit the fence, because why else would there be a huge hole in the fence? I’m paraphrasing, but go on YouTube and, sadly, you can find that conversation. I wish I was kidding, I really wish I was. When Cheever talks, I feel less intelligent. I’m surprised that Allen Bestwick can still speak in complete sentences after dealing with Eddie for the past four seasons. The guy needs to take his pompous attitude and retire so he can go sit on his front porch, and he can complain about how when Graham Rahal laps RHR with 10 laps to go, that means that, “the race is over.”
At least the pit reporters, for the most part, are very good. Jon Beekhuis should be in the booth to replace Cheever. I’ve learned a lot from Jon, he does an outstanding job bringing the product to the fans. Dr. Jerry Punch is very good, but unfortunately it looks like ESPN let him go, which is very sad. He was’t amazing as a lead broadcaster, but he was a very good pit reporter. It’s sad to see him be let go like that. I never really liked Rick DeBruhl, but I don’t think he should be fired. I never felt like I learned anything from him, but that’s just my opinion on him.
When you review this article, you can see that ABC’s coverage really is just a mess. I understand, no coverage is perfect. Sometimes NBCSN can have frequent commercials as well, but at least the quality of their product, in my opinion, makes up for that. It seems like they never miss any excitement. They’ll show battles towards the midfield that ABC ignores and we always see replays of passes that were missed live. Leigh Diffey always finds exciting battles going on in the pack, Townsend Bell always gives great and interesting feedback, and ditto for Paul Tracy. Listening to Paul and Townsend debate strategies and on track battles is always entertaining. Even their back-up crew for when one of those three is out is pretty solid. I’m not the biggest fan of Rick Allen, but he does a good job. David Hobbs is great, Steve Matchett is even better. Also, I really like those rare times when we get to see Brian Till call the race, same with Kevin Lee. Then Jon Beekhuis also does pit reporter work for them, and Robin Miller is in the pits, too. NBCSN’s broadcast crew is absolutely stacked! Even their backups are people I would love to listen to on a weekly basis. Hopefully, ABC watches NBCSN’s coverage for the rest of the season and learns a thing or two (very doubtful though.)
