I was going through my old art and came across this master copy I did of a Moebius drawing from his classic ‘Edena’ series. I was learning Adobe Illustrator and thought this would be a good way to practice using the gradient tool. This exercise taught me a whole lot about the line tool as well.
I’m still pretty proud of it, and I think it’s a great example of how valuable master copies are to an artist’s practice. You learn a lot if you focus on technique explicitly. I feel also it’s a way to bond even more with a piece of work you admire. I remember when I first read ‘Edena’ and turned the page to this drawing. It took my breath away. I stopped and stared at it for a long time before reading on. Doing a master copy allowed me to really delve deep into my joy of it.
Anyway, just thought I’d share.

French graphic novel artist Moebius (Jean Giraud) is one of my biggest influences with his simple, etheral and extremely well-drawn fantasy and scifi art.

ORGANIC BASIL ESSENTIAL OIL
Basil oil has traditionally been used to alleviate joint discomfort, cramps, headaches, and redness; its anti-inflammatory characteristics help to relieve tension in the afflicted region. It can be used topically to relieve joint pain and muscular spasms. It also helps to minimize edema and inflammation in the body. Organic Basil Essential Oil may help cure open wounds and burns, as well as relieve pain. When diffused or used topically, it has been shown to relieve stress, relax the mind, and soothe nerves. While calming, it also rejuvenates and refreshes the mind, resulting in improved attention and concentration. Aromatherapy is used to treat depression, migraines, and stress. It helps to focus by relaxing the mind. Organic basil additionally nourishes and moisturizes the skin from within.

I like how Moebius's Edena series is basically like, "Hey sometimes things are nice. Sometimes you have to get over your neuroses and accept the risks that come with putting yourself out there and maybe accepting the idea that things can be good." And then like 10 pages later it's like "I mean there are still Horrors, though. Like, yes, we're very proud of you for learning to adapt to your environment and accept that the entire universe may not be trying to kill you and that opening your mind can bring you to a happier and more fulfilled understanding of it, but the Horrors are still definitely there."

A dramatic moment from our final battle where Edena fell to friendly fire (consensually). Strahd was on his last hp, Edena was on her last hp in melee with him. He summoned fog to retreat, so Ferret threw Dawn into the crypt to finish him off for good, burning Edena in the AoE as well... AND THEN IT TURNED OUT HE HAD A MYTHIC FORM.
Meanwhile, unconscious Edena died in the next round to Anastrasya, but was revived to rejoin the battle by Paelias. Worth it.

So I have this other Goddess OC besides Empurress, who is actually the creator of the universe that my ocs live in.
Her name is Eden'a or "Mother of Eden", or you could just call her Eden.
She's kinda...banned...from her creations... still ironing out the details but she plays a huge role.
