I know major spoilers for the epilogue, but I never actually watched a playthrough. i'm so used to the victory dance after defeating a boss that I was absolutely flabbergasted when Magolor didn't do it..

So, I finished the Magolor Epilogue yesterday! Thoughts Time, and also time for some notes on how I'm gonna work it into this blog's continuity, given its ending.
I won't be tagging this post with any spoiler tags, but I will throw the rest of this under a cut in case anyone else was late to the game like I was! ...And also because it's Long dgdgshs
First off, the mode itself was excellent! It might be my favourite of the "play as someone other than Kirby" modes now. I like the whole collection aspect and upgrading Magolor's abilities a lot (along with all the little things he has to say about it—Magolor likes puns confirmed! Which makes sense. Yet another way to harmlessly annoy his friends lmao), and I definitely strongly prefer the combo mechanic as a way of determining score over the time attacks that Metaknightmare, Dededetour, and such have. ...And I do also just adore Magolor and playing as him dhdhshf (though I love Meta Knight too!)
Getting Platinum ranks on Electricky Dooter and Hydriath was absolute hell though. I have no idea why those two bosses specifically took so many damn tries, but they did.
As for plot stuff, it's cute that they tied stuff in with the Kirby Clash games and offered a bit more of a backstory behind the Gem Apples. And also given the newly added conversation that you get from collecting all 120 Energy Spheres in Extra Mode, it's nice to see him follow through on what he told Kirby and actually set up a shop (even if in doing so he becomes more evil than he ever was before by forcing Microtransactions upon us). I also loved getting to see the origin/creation of Magolor's Ultra Sword attack from Star Allies in the battle against the Master Crown!
But! The ending also causes some slight issues for this blog's continuity, given that here, Magolor is chilling at Dedede's Castle with everyone else. And obviously, I'm not gonna change that.
I've got multiple ideas on how I could adjust things to make everything work! I haven't decided on which one to go with yet.
My initial thought was to create a timeline split. Instead of going to the Kirby Clash universe, this blog's Magolor was sent to somewhere in the main series' timeline (along with the Gem Apple still, of course). Halcandra was my first idea, since that would work best with my original plans for him that I think I've mentioned in an old ask (Magolor talks to Landia, who tells him a bit of what they know about the Master Crown. They also banish him from Halcandra for his crimes, but allow him to take the Lor with him as long as it agrees to it (which it does!)). And then from there, Magolor warps to Dream Land using the Lor Starcutter.
I could see the Epilogue's extra level being a pathway back to Dream Land/Planet Popstar, given the presence of Waddle Dees and (more importantly, since maybe there were Waddle Dees in the other Epilogue levels that I've forgotten about) the fact that Magolor is going through a lot of the Another Dimension Sphere Doomer sections from the Story Mode, which are connected to Popstar and Halcandra. So I could see that being the way Magolor gets back home. Maybe he decided to stick around in Another Dimension for a little while longer instead of taking the portal into the Clash universe? So he could gather more magic energy and fully restore his powers before leaving (so that, say, he's not permanently stuck without infinite flight). And eventually he discovers the extra stage, which takes him back to Popstar. He never does learn what was on the other side of that portal that appeared after he destroyed the Master Crown, and sure, he wonders about it from time to time, but ultimately, he's with his friends now and right where he wants to be.
The problem with Magolor being transported directly to Popstar, though, is that he wouldn't have the Lor with him anymore. ...Well, technically he would get it back once Merry Magoland happens (since I'm treating that as part of the continuity for this blog rather than an alternate universe), when it shows up at the amusement park like «HELLO MAGOLOR. COOL PLACE YOU HAVE GOT HERE.» dgdgdshf. But I have Merry Magoland set as the latest thing happening in this blog's timeline, taking place sometime after Forgotten Land, so Magolor and the Lor would have only recently reunited.
But I guess, given that the extra stage has the Another Dimension Sphere Doomer Story Mode sections (I Do Not Know What To Call Them, I'm sorry dhdhshf) from both Popstar and Halcandra, it might be fine to just say he followed the pathway and the portal at the end took him to Halcandra instead! And then once again, he got the Lor back from Landia since it was willing to accompany him, and then they went back to Popstar so Magolor could make up for what he did to Kirby and the gang (and also because he was exiled from Halcandra).
The other option would be to say that Magolor did go to the Kirby Clash universe, but eventually made it back to Dream Land later on. Since I mean, it's now canon that Magolor goes to Kirby Clash after Return to Dream Land, but there's also the already established canon that Magolor makes it back to Popstar since he's playable in Star Allies. So either there's a timeline split, or Magolor leaves the Kirby Clash universe sometime after its story is complete (...which. I've never finished either of the Kirby Clash games actually dhdhshf).
Magolor does mention that he could potentially warp to other worlds if he upgraded his Dimensional Vanish beyond the in-game maximum, and while that could certainly be exaggeration on his part, that could also be the way he gets home? He managed to further power up his warping abilities during his time in the Kirby Clash universe, and once he's no longer needed there, he decides to use those new powers to go find Popstar (and Halcandra?), which he succeeds in doing in time for Star Allies to take place.
Or alternatively, maybe Kirby summoned him home in Star Allies? If the Dream Rod is able to reach Dark Meta Knight from within the Mirror World and Ribbon from over on Ripple Star, then why not grab Magolor from the Kirby Clash universe too? Plus, I do have to admit, that would make for a pretty cute reunion scene, because Kirby wanted Magolor back and specifically tried to summon him, even after all of the horrible stuff he did.
I dunno! I'm sort of leaning toward the first idea (this blog's Magolor never goes to the Kirby Clash universe at all, spending longer in Another Dimension until he eventually goes through the extra postgame stage, which leads him to a portal to Halcandra), but I still haven't fully decided. Going with the second option (Magolor still gets transported to the Clash universe, but eventually gets summoned back to the main series' universe by Kirby in Star Allies) would mean that he isn't present for the events of Triple Deluxe or Planet Robobot, but I guess that isn't necessarily a bad thing? It'd mean I wouldn't have to decide what he was doing during those times and why he wasn't helping Kirby, since he'd be busy in the Kirby Clash universe. ...But at the same time, for Robobot specifically, I think it'd be funny for Magolor to be there and be torn between going "ooooooh cool tech 👀" and "hey can you guys maybe not destroy Popstar please" dhdgdfhshdhfs

I would like to join the vision lu au please
do you think Four would maybe have a dendro vision because he's very knowledgeable and sassy?
I wanna say Wind has pyro cuz he's very passionate yk? but also anemo would work too with his [want of] freedom to be a pirate and cuss...
maybe Warriors has cryo?? he has a big heart and is very good at his craft. but he could also be hydro with his sense of justice...
I wanna say Time is cryo aswell, but he might also be dendro...
oh Twilight could def be geo. he's very stable and takes promises seriously.
Wild could prob be anemo with how free of care he is?
Legend might be electro for how hard he's fighting to keep the peace.
electro Sky? I'm hooked. and Hyrule def has a hydro vision but also has weird unexplainable abilities.
anyways, this us just my input. If you have other things planned I look forward to them!
(✿╹◡╹)ノ
Four exists in this nebulous area of "what the actual fuck am I supposed to do about the vision" because you have clear elemental assignments to the colors but the majority of the time he's not split and straight up having four visions simply. Would not make sense.
Pyro Wars and Anemo Wind are decided because I'm actually posting a fic about them tomorrow (technically today) lol. Kinda wish I had thought of Cryo tho 😔
I was originally going for Geo Time because he's very stable and such. Something a bit like Noelle, actually, abilities wise. Then Dendro was suggested and I remembered I write him as a little shit lol
I'm still undecided on Legend's vision (meaning I have no idea). Electro would be good, like you said... but what about Anemo? For his dead friend, Marin? (That's a joke (actually wait that's something to consider...))
Actually... doesn't one of his medallions summon lightning? It's not really super relevant, but...
Twilight I'm almost positive I'm going to pick Electro for (some of the Twili/shadow magic in the game is kinda electricky), but honestly it could go to Dendro or Geo...
Wild was a near instant pick for Anemo. I'll admit there wasn't any deeper meaning I just thought "likes gliding" and "dead friends". Kinda funny if he just woke up in the shrine with it, because he received it right before he died, right?
(Another cool thing- Venti does have some association with the god of time, and flurry rush and bullet time are very clearly time manipulation)
I was thinking something like Kazuha's and Venti's skill, which I'm now realizing would render Revali’s Gale obsel- actually wait what's up with the other races?
We have four races (excluding Sheikah, Hylians, humans, and whatever the fuck the Surface and Termina had going on), all of which are heavily associated with an element, as well as four Champions even more heavily associated with it.
First- the Champions.
It seems unfair to just erase Revali’s hard work with the use of an Anemo vision, so if he does have one, that's not it. The other Champions, they all had their abilities at birth (well, maybe not Urbosa, but nothing in the game seems to suggest otherwise).
Daruk's Protection can't be replaced with a vision, because Yunobo has it as well (and even if he happened to have the same vision, it still wouldn't make sense). Mipha’s Grace doesn't seem like a genetic ability, so she could have had a viso-
Ok but what if Sidon felt... less than her because he never received one, and she did from an early age? We already know he doesn't think he's as good as her, so...
(Would he receive one fighting Vah Ruta? Unlikely. Could he receive one fighting Waterblight and protecting Mipha? Maybe.)
Side thing over- it's very likely Mipha’s abilities are aided by a vision, some more Hydro healing.
Another side thing- what would happen if a Zora received an Electro vision? It's a bad match, we all know that, but would they receive resistance to it as well? Or simply never use or receive one?
Urbosa's Fury... could be genetic, could be a vision, but honestly, any of them using a vision just... simply doesn't make much sense considering they can pass on the abilities.
That's a problem for future me though. On to the races in general.
Considering no nation in Teyvat seems to have a lot of vision holders that correspond to that nation's element (excluding Sumeru, but we'll forgive that lol), the same should apply to the races of Hyrule- as in, Rito aren't more likely to receive Anemo, Zora Hydro, etc- but do they get visions at all?
If Celestia = Golden Goddesses, then those three are the one bestowing visions, rather than, say, FD giving out the Pyro visions (this is an example I've not decided on anything regarding gods and elements). I've not played any of the games where the Golden Goddesses are more prominent, but by botw, there's simply not much sign of them outside the Great Plateau, a primarily Hylian occupied place (presumably).
Of course, I could be wrong (I likely am), but Hylia seems to be the only truly worshipped god, especially in places such as Zora's Domain and Rito Village.
Presuming in other games that the other races do worship the Golden Goddesses alongside/instead of Hylia, and thus do receive visions, would they be scarcer in botw overall? Is worship of the GGs something you must do to receive a vision?
ACTUALLY Hyrule isn't from Hyrule at all. What about other countries, such as Holodrum, Labrynna, and Hytopia, or other worlds, like Lorule and the Twili Realm?
Back to Genshin- Khaenri'ah is a godless nation, presumably (excluding Kaeya) they don't have visions. Enkanomiya was also separated from the gods and Celestia (except for the hypothetical Istaroth), and there's no sign of visions there either- of course, Celestia seems to occupied solely by dicks, considering the, yknow, genocide and three celestial nails-, and the GGs seem like absent but caring gods, so for simplicity's sake, yeah, they don't give a shit about it. (Sorry for Genshin lore dumping on an lu post lol)
So, as now established, the GGs don't give a shit and other races receive visions, places on the same geographical map (Labrynna/Holodrum/Hytopia (I think Hytopia is, anyway)) should receive visions regardless who they worship as well, although considering the oracles Din, Nayru, and the unfortunately excluded Farore, Holodrum and Labrynna seem on board with the GGs. Hytopia, I, uh, have no clue
BUT- what about Lorule and the Twili?
I'm not super sure about what the hell is up with Lorule (I did just do a brief scan of its page though), so what I'm about to say is probably riddled with inaccuracies and/or obviously stated things
They have their own (now destroyed) Triforce, their own Sacred Realm, and I've even heard the name Lolia tossed around, which I'm assuming is not, actually, a real person
With this evidence, I now present to you:
Lorule isn't a mirror of Hyrule but rather a completely parallel dimension with a similar but altered history and geography
(Also- is any of this relevant anymore? Fuck no! But I'm having a lot of fun!)
Working off this- they have their own GGs, who in turn have their own system of visions. The same 7 element system and the associated reactions, but different traits. Pretty simple, reall-
Would Legend's vision work there?
His vision, filled with elemental power bestowed by his GGs, could it work in a land completely separated from them?
Uh. I don't know. If I try to talk about this it will probably be several more paragraphs. Short answer- problem for future me
OVER TO THE TWILI- they are a separate, but still attached to Hyrule, place, but what does this mean for the GGs and their influence?
(Also- I had an idea for the Abyss and Twili magic- please do not ask about this unless you want more useless information)
The Twili show no signs of worshipping the GGs or Hylia (or even other gods, such as FD and Majora); in fact, it seems like the sols are actually sort of their religion (if I'm remembering correctly).
The Twili would, hypothetically, take the place of Enkanomiya here- separate from the gods, no influence from them whatsoever.
(Well, actually, Enkanomiya is like, super fucking old, predating the archon war and presumed appearance of visions, and separated from the rest of Teyvat willingly (?) when Celestia came into power, and the Twili were banished, but that's not relevant (also don't take my word on any Genshin lore my memory is shit), and also Istaroth (?) a god (??) was present there (???), so. Yeah.)
For simplicity's sake, yeah! Twili can have visions! However, as evidenced by this entire fucking post, I don't like simple things! Time to fuck around and find out!
Presuming the Triforce is connected to the GGs power, yes, they still have influence in the Twili Realm, because Ganondorf was able to give Zant some of his power that he received from his piece, so, yes! They have visions!
Ok, though, but what after Midna shatters the mirror?
Presuming her statement of seeing Link later was not just to make him feel better, or a simple farewell, then yes. There is another way to the Twili Realm, and thus they still have visions.
But if it was the only way... no. They do not have visions after she shattered my heart- I mean, the mirror.
But, these are the Golden Goddesses we're talking about! Creators of everything under the sun, and the sun too! They can still reach it, I'm sure!
So yeah. They have visions. Always have, always will.
I think that covers everything- for now, at least. Who knows what will set me off next time
Anyway, it is... late. I've been typing for nearly an hour and a half, and I'm not going back over all this crap. I've slowly gotten more unhinged over the course of writing this, as I'm sure is quite clear.
Hope this all makes sense, if, yknow, you actually read this far lol

Man, I feel like I've been having more Epilogue nights lately than ever for some reason, I call em that cause they make me think of Magolor Epilogue in how during them I feel like a lonely sopping wet cat. Yesterday I had a night I dubbed a "Mistilteinn night" cause I was feeling not great initially but then tackled a problematic paper I had due today and got it done in probably record time, albeit late into the day, and I felt like I was actually accomplishing something and felt sorta good from it and I guess motivated. Kinda guess it wasn't a Mistilteinn night though cause now I'm feeling kinda crappy again and feel a weird sense of impending doom that I think is because of falling behind on an important project for school and learning how to do basically my only job at the moment in a robotics club I'm in. Kinda just, sucks. Feels like if yesterday was a Mistilteinn night then today should be better cause I'd finally be out of the Epilogue, but kinda starting to feel like that was just a boss fight, like I just fought electricky dooter and am nowhere even close to getting out of this rut yet- I've got so much work to do and such little time and motivation to get it done and even non work-related projects that I need to finish but I just haven't been able to and this whole entire schoolyear has just kinda felt like shit and just, I dunno, really sucks, kinda just wanna leave, go away and never return, not in a dying kind of way but just, I don't even know, I don't think I REALLY wanna go away and never return but just, in the past couple of days when I've gotten like this that's one of the thoughts thats made it into my mind. Man, I wish this year would just, start over, 2023 2.0 y'know? All this kinda reminds me of when in online school I started to feel like, well, the only way I can describe it is if monochrome was a feeling. Just, really hope I overcome this Epilogue soon and it doesn't last year-long, cause that would REALLY suck. Y'know?

Consequences [1/11]
[fic post]
SO. Nicole Kornher-Stace wrote this incredible 06/22 novella that loosely follows the plot of the first boxcar children book aaand it is probably my favorite thing they’ve written 😂 SO NATURALLY I had to write a parallel fic for it. I tried really hard to match the novella stylistically and thematically lmao so I hope that comes across!! You don’t have to have read the novella for this to make sense but there are a bunch of fun references/things to spot from it if you have. (Also just highly HIGHLY recommend you subscribe to Nicole’s Patreon, it is a Gift 😭) Also this is set right before Firebreak so there’s no spoilers for that!
(Note: I’ve decided to post this one in lil pieces here and then put it up on AO3 when I’m done! It follows Nicole’s vignette style because it’s a Good Style and it appeals to my dislike of transitions lmaooo)
Anyway! Please enjoy this absolute ridiculousness sdfjskdlf
CONSEQUENCES
An 06/22 fic inspired by the boxcar children story. Explores themes introduced in that piece that they've carried through to adulthood; parallels the events (with somewhat lower stakes).
________________
1.
22 stands at the back of the train car, arms crossed, eyes closed, listening.
This is his first time riding one. He’s been in helicopters, company cars, a mech or two, even a bus, once. But the New Liberty City Transit Authority is one form of transportation that has always been soundly off-limits, for a variety of reasons that clamor in the back of his mind even now.
Needless to say, he’s not here by choice.
One section of his brain idly draws up comparisons between this and that one bus experience, even as the remainder of him sifts through the cacophony of sound around him to stay locked on the person who, naturally, is the instigating factor of both that time and this one.
He located her long before this—hence his presence on this particular train at this particular time—but he listens anyway, making sure he hears every civilian interaction she has, every breath she takes, the moment she steps off this train.
She’s not in this car with him. If she was, she would have slipped out as soon as he stepped on, enjoying their little game of find-and-chase far too much for her own good. No, she’s five cars in front of him, leaning on the doors that say do-not-lean, ignoring him.
As if she thinks that will keep him from following her. As if either of them ever go anywhere alone.
The train shudders, tossing shoulders and hips of other passengers into him, and his focus slips for a fraction of a second, nose wrinkling. He’s packed into the rear of the car with one hundred and seven other riders, and the sensory input is…. overwhelming. The smells alone are enough to give him a bitch of a headache—body odor, perfumes, and sweat from the jostling bodies, the electricky plastic-and-metal of the train itself, the bitter tang from five different kinds of smoke hanging in the air all assault him like a sucker punch to his olfactory nerve. That, plus the copious layers of noise that are very nearly deafening in such close quarters, plus the constant physical contact on all sides, plus the shifting light filtering through dirty windows across the filtration-mask-covered faces crammed together—22’s hyperdeveloped senses are screaming at him, simultaneously and without respite.
Someone behind him coughs, hot breath tickling the back of his neck, and it takes every ounce of control he possesses not to flinch. He bites his tongue instead, hard enough to draw blood, focusing on the sharp metallic taste and willing his muscles not to twitch, not to shatter his tenuous cover with the guaranteed disaster that an involuntary muscle movement from a Stellaxis StelTech SecOps operative in cramped quarters would absolutely be.
Honestly, it’s a wonder he hasn’t been recognized yet. Yes, he is wearing sunglasses, some kind of knit hat pulled low over his ears, and a trenchcoat over his uniform—per 06, all of it—and yes, the people crowding him are all much too preoccupied to pay any attention to him; but after eight years of growing accustomed to seeing his own face on everything from burger wrappers to comic books, his faith in disguises is dubious at best.
The train screeches to a stop, throwing everyone but him off-balance again. Someone trips over his foot in their mad struggle to reach the exit doors, cursing loudly as their toes encounter the steel alloy that reinforces his boots. He’s about to offer an apology when he hears 06 elbow her way off the train, just as the doors emit their warning chime.
“Excuse me,” he says instead, and in six seconds he has slipped through the seething crowd and stepped out onto the platform as well.
The cold air hits him like a wall, a violent contrast to the heavy heat of the train car. The wind slices his cheeks, biting straight through the hat and coat and stinging his eyes till they water. He blinks the tears away, hand straying to the hilt hidden beneath the synth-leather of the trenchcoat as his gaze sweeps the surge of people disgorged from the bowels of the train.
06 lights up like a fucking beacon when they lock eyes, a great mischievous grin breaking out on her face before she turns, wiggling her fingers, and plunges into the crowd.
He follows her doggedly, tracing her winding path through thousands of strangers all headed to the same place. By the time he reaches Greenleaf Square his face is numb (expected), his nose is running (annoying), and he’s temporarily lost track of 06 (unacceptable).
He’s composing a message on his lenses that is as scathing as it is coded—
just got to the training hall like you asked, so where are you
—when he hears her come up behind him. As he turns, she taps him on the shoulder, a concussive little gesture that is not as gentle as she probably thinks it is.
“Beat you,” she says breathlessly, excitement no doubt easily mistakable for exertion to any passerby.
“We shouldn’t be here.” His gaze rakes across the bright neon displays splashed across the faces of the buildings, the millions of event-goers with their million pairs of recording lenses, the giant letters of the plaza name flashing beneath the attraction of choice: a stylized tower stretching up into the twilit sky, a strange twisted metal shape hovering lightless at the top.
“It's fine,” 06 insists, and there’s that grin again, pure unbridled joy from beneath the brim of a jauntily-set baseball cap. “It’ll be worth it, I swear.” She elbows him, the bone connecting like a knife to his ribs.
He half-raises an eyebrow, but says nothing more.
