Just finished Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere and I gotta say, I really enjoyed it. I went down the UPEO/Neucom missions route and took down Ouroboros, severely hampered Neucom and General Resource, and killed the guy in charge of UPEO twice.
The graphics are great for the ps1 and I like the plane designs, they're [mostly] grounded yet slightly futuristic, my favorites are the Su-43 Berkut and the R-211 Orcinus.

An old meme of mine from the days of actively fangirling over Ace Combat games. I really gotta come back to those...

Ace Combat games summarized (badly) by me
AC2: top gun but with nukes or something
AC3 (the Japanese release, not the shitty European/American one): reality is a simulation, nothing is real
AC04: plane jesus
AC5: belkan fucking witchcraft

ace combat 3 is so cool... like, ac7 is well-made but it's much more of a conventional heroic war narrative. ac3 has this sense of... alienation to it. you never see the world for yourself, you never meet anyone face to face - the reality of electrosphere exists only on the other end of a video call, behind the static of a corporate news broadcast, passing below the wings of a plane. it's a cold and lonely game where the player, a silent, faceless implement of destruction, inflicts tragedy on the few human beings around them for reasons they will never understand. it rules.

V.II Snail unable to bear the sight of his naked bare flesh. Flesh, untampered, unimproved; inherently weak, inherently flawed. To exist without silicon and steel is to not exist at all.
His augments, the pinnacle of corporate technology, fills every cavity. The source of his ability, his pride, his power.
He is Arquebus.

Hirose Rena Wallpaper
Hirose Rena, one of the main characters from Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere. A great action flight simulator for the original PlayStation in 1999. She's very cute and a good pilot. It's a shame that the majority of the the game's story, missions, characters, original anime opening and animated FMV cinematics that were in the original Japanese version were all cut from the US version. All the cutscene animations in the game were provided by Production I.G. Thank god there's a fan translation of the Japanese version and it's fully playable.
