The parlor is dark, its curtains drawn fiercely together to black out the moonlight, but through a haze of fireflies, Leo sees Elliot on the piano bench, lounging there as if he never even left it at all.

A clock ticks from somewhere. Leo feels his heart outpace it. Elliot isn’t facing the piano; he’s watching Leo instead, one foot pulled up beside him, hand resting on his knee. The blue velvet of the bench crinkles under his boot. His face is so uncharacteristically neutral, like a sculpture, the expression painted on with a horsehair brush. He’s wearing those same clothes Leo helped him into for Oz’s coming-of-age party—the handsome suit-coat with the white cravat tied up at his throat. Now it’s all bloodied at the breast, but Elliot pays that no mind.

Leo scrubs at his eyes with one gloved hand. It isn’t fireflies that choke the room with light but flecks of gold. He bites down hard on his bottom lip.

“Are you going to play?” he demands, jerking his head in the direction of the piano. The golden lights frame Elliot angelically, he thinks, but the blood—

He stares at the blood, but Elliot’s breast doesn’t rise or fall. Elliot doesn’t move, doesn’t blink, but their eyes meet and lock. Leo grabs handfuls of hair, pulls until it hurts, until the golden lights stretch and blur and blind him.

so. i have reread pandora hearts (again).

even though it's already finished for like . years !!!spoilers ahead!!!

and little did you know ellileo invented soulmate!au (and actually being soulmates) rebirth!au moon/sun meant and destined to be together dynamics playing the piano four hands devotion trust friendship and love in general. i am still not over the fact that elliot's last words were apologies to leo it was the last thing he thought about it was the most important thing to say for him. elliot's astrological sign is literally like . a leo. they are literally made for each other they are literally two souls that are drawn to each other. elliot gave "statice" to leo and leo later gave "lacie" to elliot in return. and after elliot's death leo is wearing a brooch engraved with statice flowers. elliot thought that leo's eyes were beautiful. leo loved elliot so much that he decided not to change the past because no matter how much he wanted elliot to be alive ("i might... not be glen...? does that mean that... in that version of the story, you wouldn't have to die?" THAT FUCKING QUOTE.) he still chose to save elliot's life as it is he chose to save his (and their) story. and i am not done with talking about them.
