currently thinking of starting a fallout story where all the long lost children of Emogene Cabot find each other around the commonwealth. Main character will probably be a girl and her kid sister who still lives in Cabot house but leaves when Emogene tries to make her take the serum. Her goal is to find all of the siblings written in one of Emogenes diaries. (With the help of a companions, Mac, Deeks, Valentine, or Hancock, haven’t decided yet)
thoughts?

Hi, imma start by saying I love your blog and work. I was wondering what your opinion was on The cabot family/quest in fo4. Mostly Jack Cabot. I personally really loved the quest and wish it can be somehow used to make similar quests in the future. Thanks in advance for answering my ask. 😊
Tumblr media
A little smattering of caps for this one, but thank you for the kind words! 💙💛
While I can't help but feel a pull to compare the Cabot family with the Cullen family from Twilight, I actually think that makes them more interesting as characters overall. What does one do with eternal life, especially if it's bought with the suffering of your own father? Are the Cabots merciful, or monsters? I actually see the imprisonment of Lorenzo Cabot as a sort of narrative parallel to the Institute and synths - the Institute argues that keeping synths imprisoned is for their own good, for the Commonwealth's own good, and there is plenty of in-game evidence to support either side of that argument. Lorenzo, meanwhile, is 100 percent the villain that the Institute makes its escaped synths out to be, but the question of whether Jack is justified in keeping him imprisoned still stands. What rights does a telekinetic madman have? Should the Cabots be allowed to use his powers to prolong their lives? How long would he even remain contained if they were to pass away of their extreme old age?
And that's not even getting into the Cabot family's existential logistics. How do you dodge the inevitable questions? How do you let go of the friends and family that you had, outside the circle of immediate relatives? Do you bother making new connections? Do you find them distractions at best, disposable at worst? How do you view time, as more and more years pass and the country around you begins to crumble and grow dangerously desperate? Do you try to stop the decline, and risk everything? Do you hide and hope your wealth and influence are enough to keep you safe from nuclear fire? And how did Edward Deegan and the rest of the Cabot family's ghoulified associates feel, after the bombs fell and their superiors continued on unaffected, forever youthful? The agony of basic existence as a ghoul is perhaps best reflected in characters like the Cabots and the sole survivor, who don't suffer the usual consequences that come with Fallout-bestowed immortality. As the Vault-Tec rep said, ghouls had to get to the future "the hard way."
Finally, I just like seeing aliens and kooky mind powers in Fallout (I adored Fallout 3's Mothership Zeta DLC and Fallout 76's Invaders from Beyond event, despite their flaws). It's a sign that the writers aren't taking themselves too seriously, while still paying homage to vintage pulp science fiction. And full disclosure, I'm the person who spent half their time playing Skyrim just wandering around Dwemer ruins, utterly entranced, so the idea of a buried city in the middle of the Rub' al Khali immediately piques my interest. I just have to temper it with a self-reminder that "ancient aliens" narratives can take away the historic accomplishments of real-world peoples: The lost city in the Empty Quarter may really surface someday, and it wouldn't do to diminish its builders by tying it to extra-terrestrial influence. Still, I wouldn't mind some alien-centric quests tied to the Cabot family's adventures after sorting out the business with their patriarch. Maybe luring aliens in with the artifact in order to study them, or using it to root out other alien artifacts across the Commonwealth for Jack's research.

Nora: You remember the Cabots and that affair with Emogene we helped out with?
Danse: Uhm, no. You took Nick and left me at home staring into the middle distance. After what we've been through you didn't have to sideline me like that.
Nora: Okay we are NOT going to dig into this ancient history right now, Danse.
Danse: Was it a social anxiety thing? Did... did I smell? I mean you only took one of us at a time.
Hancock: Some sad violin music coming from somewhere...
Nora: Can we not do this right now?

MOTIVATION
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Today I have reached 30 followers
*in a quiet voice* Hooray!
So here my lil life story and a goofy ahh (ru/eng) MOTIVATION poster
Since i enrolled the college and get myself a dormitory room, me and my friends start making hand drawn meme posters. Like this (translation in alt):
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This year was my last college year which meant that I had to do a graduation project (a lot of work in a small amount of time). I've been working for days. Had a lack of sleep or didn't sleep at all. In the end I got sick of it all and completely lost any motivation to do anything at all. And then ULTRAKILL™ kicks in my life out of nowhere. So I started to negotiate with myself: "If I do [x] I can play [x] levels". That helped me buuut just a little. I always got distracted anyways. So I came up with drawing this poster. Put it right in front of me, so when I get distracted again or or I had no will to work I would look up and see it. And my thoughts go " OH SHIT I HAVE TO WORK".
Also I'm an interior designer. And putting textures is one of the final stages of my graduation project. And I got tired of it all again. So I basically said : "FUCK IT" and put Minos (and Emogene Cabot from fallout 4) portrait in my project. Believe me or not I got "A" grade for the project. So I suppose Minos brings luck??!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Welp that's it for today. I just being honest with ya people. Print out the poster. Achieve your goals. Have a good day.

♠ for Reed and Mercy
[ relationship asks ] @fuzzydreamin
♠ : Character my muse would have a one night stand with.
Danse, if he ever gets over his ghoul issues enough to be around Mercy
Deegan and/or Emogene Cabot, just about any combination of them here would be plausible
Deacon
Dierdre
Magnolia
If we’re going with just Reed: Knight-Sergeant Gavil, Maxson, KL-E-0, maybe Preston later on in their storyline
If we’re going with just Mercy: Cait, Glory, Preston, maybe KL-E-0, maybe Curie

Okay, I decided to edit that fic and write a whole post about the furniture in the Cabot house. Spoiler alert: yes, Ed and Sole finally kissed after two years of awkward tension (even though Sole already has these two dumbasses, Mac and Gage).
I thought this could be a nice example of environmental storytelling. I understand that it is impossible to realize this in such a large game, but I can write about it.
Let me start by saying that five years after the bombs fell, Ed decided to get married, which made Jack absolutely mad. Ed left the job, but four months later, Jack and Emogene apologized and begged him to come back because they could not find anyone suitable to replace Ed. He agreed to return. Jack began to behave much more respectfully, gave Ed a big raise in salary, and a large room on the first floor next to the kitchen.
Tumblr media
I found this photo three years ago and fell in love with it. It’s very close to what I’m thinking about. "Went to get wood", Wood, found objects, ≈12’x9’x10’, 2008 - by Ethan Hayes-Chute
Ed, like many ghouls, has sleep issues, and his room is very different from the rest of the house. It is painted dark green (even the ceiling). Thick, heavy curtains hang from the window. The bed is just huge, 2+ meters, because Ed himself is fucking huge two-door brick-built fridge. And this bed is for sleeping. No one in their mind would bring women to the house they are working for, especially since Ed was generally not interested in this (his wife and child lived in the next house). So, the bed takes up a significant part of the room; there are several different blankets and a dozen of pillows on it, and when Ed sleeps, he buries himself in them like in a nest (quite funny, yes). He even has this silly pillow stuffed with aromatic herbs that you put under your main pillow to make it smell nice.
He has a lot of strange things in there because his duties include working with caravan owners, knowing who sells what, where, and when, and seeing a lot of different things. And periodically, he buys something for himself because, why not?
After all, when a single mature man works a lot, he should have his me-time and me-things. And Ed has several hobbies. He loves good clothes. He gathered a whole collection of these goddamned (oh, I adore them) Irish grandpa caps (although he had a hat for any occasion, the sun of the wasteland will burn your bald head). He drinks a lot and smokes like twice as much as Sole and Mac together.
So his room, still perfectly clean, has a lot of stuff in it. A large wardrobe (because he has a lot of good clothes for weekends and even has a seamstress friend who sews for him), a full-length pre-war mirror—a true rarity. Several large shelves with books, notebooks, and folders with blueprints—because he does all the engineering work around the house (after all, he is a former navy engineer; during the war he served on a ship, and he has been on airships and loves them), looks after weapons and equipment, and also helps Jack with the simple stages of his research. Large work desk. A comfortable armchair for reading (oh, I adore the fact that the community unanimously considers him a reading person).
Soon after the assault on Parsons, one by one, the Cabots died. Ed buried them and grieved. He drank for three months and even gave the cats to Daisy because he was afraid he wouldn't be able to take good care of them. Then he joined one of the caravans and worked as a security guard for six months just to get his mind off things, to be in the fresh air, and to be around people, not for money.
Then he pulled himself together and returned to the house. You know, this may sound cool—I inherited a house like this. But in reality, no. And Ed didn't want that. After all, he could live anywhere.
He took off paintings and removed unnecessary furniture. When Sole came for the first time after a long break, she was very surprised. The living room and dining room (in fact, Ed moved there) greatly changed. They have lost their fashionable gloss but have become warmer and cozier. It was immediately obvious that he now lives here. There was a knitted blanket and colored pillows on the sofa. Instead of that huge portrait, Ed hung a simple rug, the kind Sole had seen in farmers' houses. There were books on the coffee table, by the sofa, and on the dining table. An open bottle of whiskey and a glass. Ed carried the wood-burning stove into the dining room and carefully routed its chimney out the window. On it stood a large, bulbous copper kettle. Simple clay bowls and one huge crooked wooden one for all the weird beer snacks Sole loved so much.
He almost stopped using electricity, except for the reading lamp. There were now large grease candles in metal trays everywhere. And one oil glass lamp (similar to Orthodox icon lamps in Sole’s homeland) so that there is always a fire lit at home, from which you can light a cigarette (he still tried not to smoke in the house, although no one could stop him). I think there should be a smoking balcony with chairs and potted cacti. Ed used to smoke there with Emogene. There was never anything romantic between them, but she sympathized with him and loved his company.
Overall, it was a large and lonely house. It saw a lot. So when Gage asked Ed to come live with them on the lake, Ed was very relieved. Everything has become easier. He was a simple man, and his pleasures were simple. Beloved woman nearby. Beautiful view. A friend's little funny son (Ed loves children and got along well with Duncan). Clean water to bathe at any time. Farm animals. The forest. The caravan still comes once every ten days; you can have a drink and listen to their stories. You can take a boat and go fishing. You can even pack your stuff and go to the sea or to Diamond City if you really want to. Life is good.
At the farm, Ed lives not in the house itself but in the former boat house and workshop, in which part of it was first fenced off, and later another room was added. The room was small, and most of it was taken up by the bed. Pillows and blankets. Books are on shelves under the ceiling. In the same place where a huge amount of dried herbs hung. Ed continued to distill and collect herbs for infusions, cooking, and medicine. He made delicious tea, massage-soothing cream, and even a little perfume on holidays as gifts. Sole loved sleeping in his bed during the day; the room was always cool and smelled deliciously of herbs, wood, and oil. Calm and safe.

Time for Andi and Mac shennanys!
We start with the Cabots:
Tumblr media
RJ, really?
Tumblr media
…Never mind. (I laughed at this for almost a minute because of the dialogue combined with him climbing on the table. Jack looks utterly done with Wilhelmina’s BS, and I don’t blame him. Also good boy Edward Deegan, who deserves better treatment.) Rescued Emogene, got to threaten Brother Thomas and steal his stuff.
Line break so the post isn’t so huge.
The Glowing Sea, Round 1:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Robert Joseph. We are in his house. At least wait until we get outside to start talking shit. (Love how the night picture turned out, excellent creepy vibes.)
Time to kill a courser.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And here’s the aftermath:
Tumblr media
…you okay, buddy?
Andi failed to romance RJ on the first try, so where does he talk about it again? The Combat Zone.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Guess busting raider heads got him in a romantic mood.
On a personal note: Sorry I haven’t been posting as much original content. I’ve been under a lot of stress lately, and my mental health has been kind of messed up. Good news is that I’m doing a bit better. I’ve been working more on the fan fiction and drawing, just haven’t gotten around to posting it yet.
I’m currently stuck on the writing portion as I feel like I need to do more research, but I don’t want to go down a slippery slope of too much research and too much information. The ADHD does not help. Sometimes I wish I had a writing buddy, lol. Not to keep to a deadline or anything, but someone to talk about ideas and stuff with.
Whether you’re following me or mutuals, or even just here by random chance, thank you. Love this community, and all of you.

Piper sits in a chair.
Tumblr media
Recently, she'd been wondering why Minh still wore that battered old hard hat everywhere. Piper decided to try a pink miner's helmet while they ran a few errands for the influentual Cabot family.
Tumblr media
Was it comfy? No. Was it waterproof and impact-resistant? Yes. Did it go with her favourite coat? A bit. Did the light come in handy? Sometimes. Did it look nicer than her own hat? Er, no.
Did it leave her feeling underdressed in the Cabots' luxurious town house? Well, Edward had quite a comforting presence about him, and next to him it was hard to feel underdre- Bitch, she was Piper Wright, she thumbed her nose at the privileged elite and left muddy footprints in their luxury box seats! Who CARED if she looked... like a copper miner expressing her feminine side?
Tumblr media
To take her mind off it, Piper sat in another chair...
Tumblr media
By and by, the two adventurers found the missing Cabot daughter.
"How are you feeling now, Piper? Now that we've had a few adventures and I definitely didn't tread on another mine, are you liking the helmet?" asked Minh.
"It's, well..." Piper sighed. "I don't know if it's ME. I kind of wanna try a red one, though."
"Okay, my curiosity won the speech check. What IS it with you two and those helmets?!" Emogene piped up. "Is it some sort of lesbian thing? Your kind of ladies normally wear ball caps back to front... And if you were planning anything with me, forget it."
Minh gave her a look. "Don't worry, Emogene. We weren't."
Tumblr media
Minh and Piper made certain to bring Emogene home as quickly as possible. After they dropped her off, Jack Cabot dragged them to the old asylum to meet his father.
Tumblr media
"The head lamp is pretty useful," whispered Piper, while a badly-injured Edward explained that the asylum had been seized by bandits after old Lorenzo Cabot's magic blood. "But I actually kind of like using a torch... It feels cooler, pointing a torch around, y'know?"
Tumblr media
The situation was deteriorating rapidly, but Minh had a flaming sword...
Tumblr media
And Lorenzo had the rest of eternity for a long, peaceful nap.
Tumblr media
"Soooo, Piper, how's everything feeling in the head department?" asked Minh, back in Sanctuary Hills a couple of days later. "I mean, do you like the mining helmet?"
Piper was silent for a few seconds. Then she smiled and slowly shook her head.
"It's not a bad helmet, Blue. I can definitely see what you like about them... but it's not for me." Piper reached up and took off the mining helmet. "Too many bad memories. And I already have a nice hat!"

a sneak peek of that cabot house thing I said I was gonna do
“You’re right,” Kennedy stated loudly, in a desperate attempt to keep him from walking away. It seemed to work, because for a second, he stopped. “What mom did to you was horrible. You deserved to grow up like I did, with a family, with people who cared about you.”
Kendrick turned, scanning her with confusion spread across his smooth features.
“But, I’m here now. And leaving this time isn’t taking it out on me, or mom. All you’re doing is hurting yourself. I searched for you because I want you in a family of my own. The only thing is… I can’t be here for you if you won’t let me.”
He looked away, a bad attempt at hiding the tears that were pooling at the bottom of his eyes. He might’ve been eighteen, but at that moment, staring at his big sister, he felt like a defenseless child.
“How do I know that you won’t throw me out to the dogs at the first inconvenience like she did?” He muttered, hardly loud enough for her to hear.
“You’re my little brother,” She dared to step closer, and this time, he didn’t move back. “We might not have grown up together, but that doesn’t change the fact that I care about you. I would still care about you even if you were a strung out druggie begging in the streets of Goodneighbor, because that’s what I’m supposed to do.”
She sucked in a deep breath as her brother’s light blue eyes finally overflowed with tears, which he wiped off quickly.
“Mom may not have wanted you, but I do,” Kennedy finalized, glancing down at her feet. He didn’t respond, and she took that as a sign he was about to walk away again.
But suddenly, just as she was about to turn and leave, he crashed into her, sinking into her embrace like a child that had never experienced someone that truly cared for them before. He was trembling against her. For a moment she just stood, letting her arms snake around her little brother like a protective shield. He was crying, clinging to the back of her duster, and she held him.
One sibling down. Six more to go.

- alright new quest: find EMOGENE CABOT and bring her back to her family. or possibly not depending on what kind of deets she drops on their shenanegans. if she doesn’t want to come home that’s up to her.
Tumblr media
- wait a minute...
Tumblr media
- there’s this portrait in the dining room which i assume is of EMOGENE, given that there’s one on the opposite wall of JACK. is it just me or does that look a little like whatshername at the THIRD RAIL, the singer, minus a fancy dress and a bad black wig? have i met EMOGENE before?
    - also calling the THIRD RAIL a “jazz club” is very, very generous lol.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
- talked to WHITECHAPEL QUARK CHARLIE and he directed me straight to MAGNOLIA. i think i might be on the right track here.
Tumblr media
- ...honestly i’m on the fence here. the uncanny valley graphics of this game make it really hard to know when i’m supposed to recognise someone. i guess it could be her being cagey and pretending that she isn’t talking about herself?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
- ah, i was wrong. damn. looks like EMOGENE’s run away and joined a cult, something which no other rebellious rich girl has done in history. alright, let’s go rescue her from the FOLLOWERS OF AZATHOTH, i guess.
