Felix Fickelgruber x fem!Reader HCS
Tumblr media
!Warning(s)! Smut
(Also i wrote this instead of sleeping so im sorry if its crap)
♡~Romantic hcs~♡
- He is going to buy you expensive gifts whether you like it or not (man's is just extra)
- Every week he takes you to dinner with him at very fancy restaurants, so you can just chat, and have a moment to yourselves.
- He LOVES to spoil you, i mean the man has a lot of money to spend and a person that he loves so dearly that means he would buy the moon if you asked him to.
- With that in mind he just loves when you show him everything you bought ESPECIALLY clothes, he loves to see you trying it on for him and giving his on private fashion show.
- he is not a person very prone to cuddles but he finds it rather nice, so most of the time he just sleeps in his side of the bed and you would have to be the one to actually initiate contact.
- he definitely taught you how to dance at some point (totally not based out of that part in sweet tooth where dances with the policeman)
- He loves when you cook him homemade meals, makes him all fuzzy and warm inside, and even more if they are homemade sweets (for his massive sweet tooth)
- he gets so flustered when you call him a pet name in public, even more if its in front of the other members of the chocolate cartel, it's honestly adorable.
- Sometimes when he goes past some store and he sees a necklace, jewelry or even clothing that he finds strikingly beautiful, he just cant help it but buy it for you, and most of the time is something extremely expensive (I mean, he does have a refined taste but he probably also has a bit of a shopping problem...just a bit.)
♡~Smut hcs~♡
- Acts like he would be a top but in reality is a bratty sub
- I mean he can top if you ask him nicely (or push the right buttons...) but most of the time he just loves when you do all the work to make him scream with pleasure.
- But that doesnt mean he doesnt do anything in return, he would love to do anything you ask him to, but his favorite way of rewarding you is to eat you out like he's been starving for days on end (he just goes crazy when you ride his face)
- Loves to be tied with whatever you choose (Handcuffs, Rope, His own tie, doesnt matter)
- Loves to buy you expensive lingerie, he just goes wild when he knows you're wearing them
- one day after you two had sex in his office you ended up having to leave in a hurry and left your panties behind somewhere in his office and then just completly forgot about it, after that Felix developed an habit of always having at least one of your panties hidden in a drawer close by, so he can jerk off whenever he wants with the tought of you in mind.
- I just know this man whimpers during sex, i just can see it perfectly.
- If you tease him in public he just becomes a stuttering mess and can't even think straight, or form a coherent train of tought, he says he hates it (but secretly he doesnt)
- i feel like he would not be a big fan of hickeys or bite marks, due to the fact that it would be too noticiable and we all know how much he cares for his appearence so it deppends on where you would mark, but he's not totally against it as long as he can easily cover it up.
- he has an obsession with your legs, and he is easily turned on by it, loves to kiss them until he reaches your inner thighs.

~~~
Things like this certainly hadn’t been in your job description, but at this point, you weren’t really complaining. For starters, the pay was amazing, and Mr. Fickelgruber gave you all kinds of perks when you did a good job. He wasn’t the most generous man you’d ever met, but he always appreciated your hard work.
"Good girl," he murmured, his voice strained as he tangled his fingers in your hair. You moaned softly at the praise, and the vibrations sent bolts of pleasure through his entire body. That made him moan too, and tug gently on your hair.
Your knees were beginning to ache where you were kneeling, but honestly, you didn’t mind too much. You were far too focused on the task Mr. Fickelgruber had assigned to you to think about the pain, because you were nothing if not efficient.
Your tongue swirled gracefully around his shaft as you took him deeper into your mouth, the movement making Fickelgruber’s hips buck upwards slightly. It almost made you gag, but you were used to it - you’d been his personal assistant for nearly two years, and you’d been fulfilling his… non-professional needs for just under half that time.
And because of that, you could read him and his reactions quite well. You could tell from the sound of his breathing and the way his fingers were rubbing against your scalp that he was getting close. Any moment now he would either cum down your throat or pull out of your mouth - sometimes he’d cum on your face, while at other times he’d want to fuck you properly (and that’s how you knew when you’d done a particularly good job).
Then, like clockwork, he used his grip on your hair to pull you off of him. He hadn’t cum yet, so you knew that meant your work was far from finished. His free hand grabbed for the box of chocolates that he always kept in his desk drawer for these exact occasions. Your mouth was still open, and Fickelgruber placed the little treat on your tongue once he’d removed it from its wrapping.
"There you go, my dear," he said in a tone that was almost affectionate, but it was offset by the nearly painful grip he still had on your hair. The chocolate was absolutely delicious, and you couldn’t help but close your eyes and moan while you savoured the taste. This made him smirk, a quiet, dark chuckle escaping him. "Tell me, which do you enjoy more? The taste of my cock, or chocolate?"
Once you’d swallowed the chocolate, you spoke. "I can’t decide, sir," you said softly, staring up at him with your eyes wide. "I like both too much. I don’t think I could pick one over the other."
"Well, I suppose that’s an adequate answer." Fickelgruber smirked, finally letting go of your hair. Whether it was his cock or his chocolate that you were tasting, it was all him, wasn’t it? He pulled his chair back slightly so that you could stand up, and once you had, he reached out to idly play with the hem of your skirt. "Now, you know what to do, my dear." He held his finger up and twirled it around - a silent order for you to turn around.
You did so, and anticipating what he would ask next, you bent forward over his desk. Your skirt - which was scandalously short by professional standards, though Mr. Fickelgruber had called it your 'special uniform' - rode up so that Fickelgruber could get a glimpse of your panties beneath.
Fickelgruber snickered. "Oh, I am so glad to have an assistant that takes the initiative." His hand trailed up the back of your thigh until he reached your skirt, which he then pushed up. Now that he had a proper view of your undergarments, he let his finger brush over the wet spot that had formed there. "So wet already, dear, and I haven’t even touched you yet," he told you in a teasing voice. "You really must love having my cock in your mouth."
"Yes, sir," you moaned, trying to push your hips back against his finger in an attempt to get some more friction. In response, Fickelgruber laughed softly and gently swatted you on the backside. You whimpered slightly at the sting, and immediately ceased your movements. "Sorry, sir."
His fingers found the waistband of your panties, and he slowly began to pull them down your thighs, savouring the sight of you bent over for him. Fickelgruber loved how obedient you were, how needy you always were for him. But most of all, he loved that you were all his, and that he was the only man who had the pleasure of having you like this.
You heard Fickelgruber stand up from his chair, and then you felt his warm fingers teasing your pussy, moving from your clit down to your entrance and then back again. It took all of your willpower to not squirm. His finger dipped into your wetness for a moment, before he pulled it back out. He leaned over you to whisper into your ear. "I think you’re more than ready. Isn’t that right, my dear?"
"Mmm, yes, sir… please…" You nodded frantically, bracing yourself for him to finally enter you. He stood back up straight behind you, and you felt his cock against your entrance. He didn’t push inside right away, however - instead taking a few moments to tease you. You didn't complain, because you knew that it would be more than worth the wait.
You let out an almost pathetic whimper - which you tried to cover up by clapping your hand over your mouth, but you weren't quick enough - when you felt him sink inside of you. Though you couldn't see, he smirked at the noise, and placed his hands on your hips.
Fickelgruber let out a deep sigh, giving the both of you just a few seconds to adjust before he began to move. He moved slowly but deep and hard, making sure you felt absolutely everything with each thrust he made inside of you. You were sure that your brain had switched off already, resting your cheek against the surface of the desk beneath you. If you weren’t careful, you’d probably end up drooling. It wouldn’t be the first time.
You didn’t even realise how much noise you were making, but your curses and pleas of "sir" and "Mr. Fickelgruber" were echoing throughout the large room. Fickelgruber loved it - the idea that he could turn such an intelligent and hard-working woman into an absolute mess who could think of nothing but him and what he was doing to you. He valued the power he had over you more than anything else, though he’d probably never admit such a thing out loud.
When he pulled out suddenly, you whined in annoyance, but Fickelgruber simply tutted before flipping you over so you were laying on your back. Before you could even open your mouth to say anything - if you were even capable at this point - he’d already grabbed onto your thighs and thrust himself deep inside you once again.
"You’re being so noisy, my dear," Fickelgruber said with a somewhat mocking tone, leaning down over you so that he could whisper in your ear as he sped up the pace of his hips. Then, he brought his mouth to your neck so that he could suck bruises into the sensitive skin, which you’d have a lot of fun trying to cover up so none of your coworkers saw it. Of course, this did nothing to keep you quiet, only making your moans louder, but that was exactly what he wanted. "If you’re not careful, someone might hear you, and come in here to check what’s going on. Is that what you want, hmm? For everyone to see what a little slut you are for me?"
Having locked the door yourself before you went down on him, you knew that there was no chance of someone walking in and seeing what was happening. But the thought of it alone, combined with the way Fickelgruber was whispering in your ear, made your pussy clench around his cock. He laughed, loving how easy it was to affect you, but it quickly turned into a moan.
"Oh, you like that idea, do you? I suppose you’re even more naughty than I thought." Fickelgruber’s words were scolding, but you knew very well how much he loved having you like this. "That’s what you want, is it? For people to see you getting fucked over my desk like a whore? Maybe next time I’ll take you up against the window, and let everyone on the street below see that you belong to me."
That was it. That was what pushed you over the edge. The combination of possessiveness and degradation that made your head spin. You let out a loud sob as your climax hit you, writhing helplessly beneath him as he continued fucking you through it. Fickelgruber shifted so that he could kiss your lips to quiet you down a little - you really were getting loud enough that it might draw attention now, and he liked keeping you as his little secret. For now at least.
Eventually, he couldn’t hold himself back any longer - not with how your warm, wet walls were squeezing him for dear life - and he came as well, buried as deep inside you as possible while his warmth flooded you. He moaned against your lips, and the way your name sounded when he uttered it in such ecstasy made you feel like you could finish again. But thankfully, you didn’t, which was probably a positive since you were already exhausted after one orgasm.
"Good girl," Fickelgruber mumbled breathlessly, pressing kisses against your neck and jawline as both of you slowly recovered from your highs, and there seemed to be a genuine softness in the way he spoke to you that hadn’t been present the first time you’d done this. Now that you thought about it, it almost seemed as if he’d become more and more fond of you each time you had sex, and he’d certainly become more possessive as of late. Almost as if he actually had feelings for you. Maybe. Your stomach fluttered at the possibility.
He gave you one last kiss on the lips as he slowly pulled his softening cock out of you, gazing approvingly at the sight of some of his cum leaking from your pussy. Fickelgruber quickly pulled your panties back up for you, keeping any more of it from dripping out. That was quite the contrast to your first tryst also - he’d been somewhat dismissive then, and this was the first time he’d ever helped you redress, even if it was just helping you put your underwear back on.
"I suppose we had better get back to work, hadn’t we, dear?" Fickelgruber told you with a smile as he fixed his trousers and rebuckled his belt, before sitting down in his chair once again. With shaking legs, you stood up from his desk, intending to walk back to your own workstation, but he grabbed you by the wrist to stop you before you could get too far. Then, he gave you another quick kiss before letting you go.
It’s safe to say that you found it difficult to concentrate on your work after that, but you powered through, as you always did. Fickelgruber was glad that he'd hired you, for oh so many reasons.
Secret Fantasy
Tumblr media
Title:  Secret Fantasy  Synopsis: Your brother, Willy Wonka, sends you on a mission to discover as much as you can about Mr Felix Fickelgruber and his shop. However, when you meet the man himself, you discover much more than you bargained for.   Word Count: 1.8k  Warnings: None
Yes, I am still alive, but is the fandom? 🫠
“Okay, Y/N,” your brother’s words echoed in your psyche. “Once you’re in Fickelgruber’s shop, play like a wealthy customer, like you’re there to buy his entire shop, yes? He’ll notice you soon enough, then you can ask him about his chocolates, his upcoming plans, all of it. Anything you see, anything he says, try and remember. Chocolates, flavours, shapes, packaging, all of it! It’s risky, I know, but you can do it, I know you can. Okay?”
But, bathed in the soft, green light of the infamous chocolate shop, surrounded by plush velvets and lush silks, it was easy to lose your grip on sanity. You stood, stunned, in the centre of this corner of paradise like a boat lost out at sea, bobbing listlessly against waves it has no strength to fight.
Overwhelmed by endless coloured boxes and paper-wrapped concoctions, you weren’t sure where to look. So, your attention bounced over each shelf and colour and texture as quickly as pinballs spinning in the dazed universe of their machine. You were used to chocolate, naturally, and you had confidence that nothing could compare to the tiny miracles that your brother could produce. However, seeing a real shop, so many types of confectionaries deliberately put together and dressed up to entice passers-by to dip into their pockets – it was an entirely new realm for you.
Of course, it did not take too long for you to get noticed. Dressed up in the new finery your brother had dipped into his quickly growing stash of chocolate-selling money to kindly purchase for you, which itched your wrists at the cuffs and made a satisfying swish noise whenever you turned, it was admittedly hard not to notice you. You looked as though you had strolled into new money and built a throne of sovereigns from the petty cash.
“May I help you?” You were reading, with your mouth open in awe, the flavours in Fickelgruber's Fancies (one of his most expensive boxes of chocolates) when the refined voice sang over your shoulder, and you turned to it as though scolded.
You were caught in the headlights of a face you had only heard mythological tales about, the face of one of your brother’s arch nemeses. The face of, you shamefully thought as soon you laid eyes on him, an extremely handsome man. Frozen under his liquefying stare, you floundered, your boat taking on water as you stuttered, trying to find your footing in this strange, golden world.
Somehow, you thought focusing on the handsome man responsible for your drowning (and much more besides) would carry you safely back to steady ground. He was wiry, tall, and immaculately presented, from the perfectly waxed shape of his hair to the shined-clean sparkle of his shoe tips. His accent was as plummy as the colour of his matching tie and handkerchief, but he had a nice, if a little strained, smile on his face. Rather more than nice, you thought.
As you stared at him, watching the corners of his lips rise in a coy, roguish smile, sense boomeranged back into your brain in the guise of your brother. Play like a wealthy customer, like you’re there to buy his entire shop.
“Er, yes, actually, I think you can, Mr Fickelgruber.” Finally, your voice came back to you, and with it the confidence and bald-faced mania your brother had instilled in you long ago; the tools needed to get your job done. What you didn’t notice, however, was your instant use of his name and the gratified expression that illuminated his face as soon as you addressed him by it.
“These fancies,” you pointed somewhat redundantly to the lush green box, hoping it would disguise the quiver in your voice as you recovered, “there are no cherry flavours. That simply won’t do.”
To your surprise, he smiled again. “Oh, you’re absolutely right. It is a travesty, isn’t it? I was saying the same thing to my wretched assistant only yesterday. May I suggest you try these instead?”
He reached easily over your head, pulling from a higher shelf a sleek black box emblazoned with an egotistical gold F and stylishly held together with a single black ribbon stretched across the right-hand side. You were rather too distracted to focus on what he reached for, however, as you were overwhelmed with a strong wave of wild ferns (freedom, open countryside stretching out ahead under the harsh shards of moonlight), a rich, earthy scent emanating from his suit and the body it covered the same way his shop exuded opulence and his wry smile radiated superiority.
Then, he was holding the box almost to your nose, as though he suspected you of neglecting your glasses; this only confirmed that you were not as confident as your attitude would project. Slow responsiveness, trembling hands, quivering mouth. His impression of you must have been that of a helpless infant.
“These,” he began speaking when you gently lifted the box from his hand to inspect the contents listed on the side, “are my pride and joy. Fickelgruber’s Fudges.” His chest puffed as he shared with you the name of the delights currently cupped in your hands, but finally, your attention was diverted from your new companion. He was still talking, filling up the electric space between you with fleeting words about the concoction and how, although it wasn’t strictly chocolate, it was ‘the best taste sensation you could achieve on God’s green Earth’, but you could barely hear him as you scanned the ingredients and thought of your brother’s face.
Your brother, you knew, was a dab hand at all kinds of confectionary, but he was never satisfied with his fudge recipe. Although you were supportive, neither, secretly, were you. There was always something missing. Not enough sugar, too much, the flavours don’t gel well, unappetising to look at - always something. It took one glance at the near-empty shelf above you to know that this was not the case with the man in front of you.
His flavours were certainly unique, although as you read them, they seemed so simple. No yeti sweat, for example. There was cherry, as expected, but also salted caramel, mint, raspberry, maple, and a mysteriously named Fickelgruber’s Fantasy, an unnamed flavour with a top-secret recipe.
Of course, you asked immediately, “What’s the flavour?” but he just laughed loudly, throwing his head back so you could see the bobbing of his Adam’s apple along his taut neck. Despite the face of your brother still hovering at the forefront of your mind, at the sound of Mr Fickelgruber’s unbridled laugh, your lips twitched into a giggling smile.
“Well, if I told you that,” he said once he had recovered, a grin spread across his handsome face and hands clasped behind his back as he leaned closer to you, “I’d have to kill you.”
He brought his hands between you to grasp the box you were still holding, slipping off the ribbon with ease and lifting off the lid. “I believe I can spare a few of these to tantalise your tastebuds, however. Here,” he held up a perfect cube of mouth-watering fudge, covered with a delicate strip of chocolate and dotted with what looked like either marshmallow or biscuit. “Try my fantasies for yourself.”
He quirked up an eyebrow as he held the fudge out to you between his forefinger and thumb, only an extension of his one-sided smirk. You looked up from the piece of confectionary to his face for a mere second before opening your mouth and allowing him to place it onto your awaiting tongue.
It was like a slice of heaven, melting in your mouth as soft and supple as the rich cocoa butter your brother had traded a silk scarf for in India and allowed you to dip your finger in as he made his chocolate after days of denying you the privilege. Fickelgruber’s Fudge had that same kind of forbidden luxury in its flavour, rich and decadent. That addition of biscuit – it was definitely biscuit, you recognised as soon as it touched your taste buds – only emphasized the beauty of the bite, giving the chewy texture a gritty crunch.
If Fickelgruber was smiling with pride before, he was beaming with it now, watching your eyes light up as the taste of his well-kept recipe coated your throat. “Good, no? And there’s your beloved cherry, of course.”
As soon as you’d swallowed the secret Fantasy, he was holding up a square of fudge dotted with sweet cherries. Without question, you opened your mouth once more, accidentally catching the very tips of his fingers between your lips as your mouth closed eagerly around the sweet. You were too overwhelmed to apologise as he withdrew them without a care, too overwhelmed even to speak. The cherry was, dare you say it, even more delicious than his prided secret recipe, as sweet and real as cherry pie.
You swallowed the sweet blissfully and looked down at the open box still in your hand as though it were a treasure chest. Your Pandora’s box. You weren’t sure if you wanted to eat them all at once or simply leave the box on a table, lid off and sweets displayed, for visitors to coo over as they pass, but never to touch. Funnily enough, as he spoke once more, it came to your attention that you were having a vaguely similar tug-of-war about the man who had been feeding them to you. Keep him to yourself, or hand his secrets over to your brother? Hmm...
“You know,” there was what you could only describe as a smouldering look in his eyes as he stared at you with his undivided attention, “I have plenty more fantasies that you could try if you’re looking for a certain flavour.” He gestured around him with his hands, but your stare never left his. “My whole shop is at your feet.” After a brief pause, he added, “As am I.”
Only for a moment did you hesitate, looking over your shoulder past the thick green curtains and gold rails, out into the plain beige and white of the Galleries Gourmet, the people gazing through the spotless windows in wonder as they hurried past, and even further out into the street, where your brother was using your distraction of his rival to share his chocolate with the world as he waited for you to emerge safely.
Feeling like a traitor to your brother, a fraud, a betrayer of the very blood that was pounding in your veins, you turned your back to the outside world and followed the dark, swaying shadow of the handsome man who turned to look at you, eyes twinkling, eyebrow raised, smile fixed, only the once before leading you deeper into the crowds of the shop floor.
Oh, you were in trouble.
Felix Fickelgruber x gn! Reader
Tumblr media
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
Cw: None, just Christmas fluff
Felix shuffled uncomfortably through the library filled with old, Dusty books, at least that's how he'd describe it, he had no clue how you could like such conditions. He spotted Noodle at the front desk, helping a poo- person.
"Noodle?..." He said hesitantly as if he wasn't sure how to address her. "Rich chocolate maker man, how do you do?" Noodle looked up from a book on the counter. "Hi, I need your... expert advice." Noodle eyed him even more confused. "Advice on what?" Felix shifted his gaze back and forth from Noodle. "Love advice." Noodle almost spit out her cup of water onto the book. "one, why do you need love advice? And two why are you asking me?" Felix sighed, fidgiting with his suit tie. "W-well because, you know them." "Oh?" "Oh."
Noodle giggled, her eyes shifting towards you, the extravagant man couldn't hide anything and that included his massive crush on you. "So? Gold or diamond?" "What?" Felix rolled his eyes pulling out two necklaces. "Does (Y/n) like gold or diamond? I didn't know which to get so I just got both. Wait or would they prefer both?" Felix contemplated while Noodle looked at him with a mix of pity and amusement. "Really?" Noodle said causing Felix to tilt his head in confusion. "What?"
Noodle shook her head. "You don't have to but them stuff like that." Even more confusion. "What do you mean? It's gold and diamonds!" Noodle sighed stepping around the counter. "She doesn't want fancy expensive showy gifts." Noodle said waving her hands in the air in a mocking way with her words. "Just give them something from the heart, they'll love it."
"From the heart?"
"Mhmm!"
Felix stared at Noodle, eyes wide while his mind ran wild trying to come up with something.
___________________________________________
"(Y/n!)"
(Y/n) jumped a bit at Felix's shriek, looking over to see him prancing towards them. "Felix! Hey, how- how are you?" Felix made his way to them, standing in a way one could only describe as gentlemanly. After exchanging pleasantries Felix fidgeted nervously with the small box in his hands.
"Uhm I brought you something, this." He held the box out infront of them. It was wrapped in beautiful wrapping paper with a shiny golden bow wrapped around it, probably to make up for the lack of riches he thought the gift held. "Oh, thank you Felix." Felix, you're the only one who addressed him by his first name. He nodded, giving them an awkward smile. "An early Christmas gift. You can open it now!" (Y/n) gave him a sweet smile back before starting to unwrap the present when Felix spoke up again. "Oh! And this, this is from me and Noodle." He handed them another package dressed in beautiful string and doodles, Noodle doodles.
"Thank you, Felix." Unwrapping the first gift you uncovered an array of Chocolates, Fickelgruber chocolates in particular. "I uhm- I wanted to give you some of my specialty, chocolate!" Felix, normally so outspoken, was stuttering. Giving him another thankful smile (Y/n) moved to open the second gift, a copy of your favorite book series. Felix watched the appreciation and happiness fill their eyes as they saw the gifts, wondering how something so simple could make their eyes light up like that.
"Thank you Felix, really I love them." Felix gave their smile back and noticed them bouncing on the balls of their feet a bit. "Sooo do you think you'd wanna eat these with me while I show you all my favorite parts of the books? They're really great I'm sure you'd like them." As Felix agreed he saw that same light in their eyes.
The Secret Ingredient (Willy Wonka (2023) x Fickelgruber Daughter) Chapter 1: Mystery Man
Tumblr media
Today is different. I don’t know why, but ever since I woke up there’s been something different. I don’t know what’s in store for today but there’s no doubt that something’s coming.
“Dear, I need you to run down and fetch me the paper.” Father calls lazily from his lounge chair.
I feel my heart leap. “Really? I can go downstairs?”
“Be quick! Don’t make a scene!” Father barks as he sips his morning cocoa.
Before he can reconsider I rush to the staircase and am about to slide down the railing-!
“And act ladylike!” Father calls from behind me.
I stop in my tracks and remember who I am. “Fine,” I grumble under my breath. My life’s been dull as dishwater until now anyway. Why change?
My name is Charlotte Fickelgruber, daughter of one of the most powerful chocolatiers in the world. But do not let that fool you. Just because my father’s a chocolatier doesn’t mean life is fun.
After taking forever to walk slowly and ‘ladylike’ down the stairs I fight my giddiness and strut towards the door. Father hardly ever lets me go downstairs, let alone leave the building. The usual display of chocolates is still plain and dull since father saves the best chocolate only for ‘upscale business,’ which basically means upperclassmen and bribery. The shop opens at 10am as usual and also as usual there are few customers here due to the usual chocolate. Today there’s a fair amount of foot traffic buzzing around outside in the Galeries Gourmet and it’s all I can do not to venture out and see what new chocolates are being sold.
“Morning, charcoal,” two voices taunt in unison.
I groan and turn to face two girls in matching mint mint green dresses. “Morning Cindy, morning Mindy. For the last time, my name is Charlotte. Not charcoal, not Charlie, Charlotte. If you both want to keep your silly job of greeting customers with fake smiles I suggest you treat the heiress to Fickelgruber chocolate with respect.”
They both snicker and walk off to the back of the store, more than likely to check their makeup for the tenth time. Such rudeness.
“Here you are, miss!” The paperboy sprints up and waves our daily paper up for me to grab.
“Thank you, Timothy!” I hand him the change (with a special tip, of course). “How’s the world out there?”
He shrugs and shuffles his feet. “It’s alright, I guess. Starting to get cold!” He grips his bag and rushes off.
“B- Bye!” I wave as he disappears into the crowd. “See you… later?”
And so goes another failed attempt to make friends.
“Everything alright, Miss Fickelgruber?” Our maid Lottie asks from behind.
I give a heavy sigh. “Charlotte please, Lottie. You know how much I hate being a Fickelgruber. It’s torture to spell and even worse to hear. It’s just…” I glance up again to look out at the passerbys. “I’m so tired of being alone. Dad’s too embarrassed to have me be too social. He can’t expect me to stay tucked away upstairs forever!”
Lottie shakes her head and puts a hand on my shoulder. “It’s not my place, miss. But if it gives any comfort-” She takes a quick look to make sure we’re alone and whispers: “I could try to sneak you out one day.”
My pulse skips and I hold up my hands to keep her from saying more. “No. No! I can’t let you do that! You’ll get fired. Last time I tried to sneak out dad nearly flipped out! He hates it when I’m even on the same ground as the ‘poor’ people, let alone trying to associate with them!”
Lottie nods in silent agreement and goes about with her load of laundry, leaving me to keep looking outside. All those people, all the sights and smells I’m missing out on…
“Ladies and gentlemen!”
A cheerful voice across the room catches my attention. It’s surprisingly animated for the Galeries Gourmet. I take a deep breath and, in a hasty moment of courage, walk out the door to search for the voice’s origin. I see people gathering towards the front near the empty lot. What on Earth-?
That’s when I spot him. At first all I can see is a brown top hat. Once I get closer a better view presents a lanky, boyish man wearing a tattered magenta overcoat, olive-colored waistcoat, brown scarf, tan trousers, and worn brown boots. I can’t quite make out his face…
“Step right up! I’ve got just the chocolate for you!”
He’s standing on a simple crate with nothing more than a jar of strange-looking chocolate. The crowd drowns him out and I can’t squeeze past-!
“Well, there's chocolate.
And there's chocolate.
But only Wonka's makes your eyes pop out their sockelets.”
Singing? What an unusual way of advertisement. And what’s- Oh my! The chocolate is flying! Literally flying over my head!
“Put your hand into your pockelet,
Get yourself some Wonka chocolate!
Come now, I insist!
You've never had chocolate like this!
No, you've never had chocolate like this!”
Through the gathered crowd I see people pluck the chocolates from the sky and- fly? They’re flying! Light as a feather!
“Oh my goodness!” My jaw drops. “How’s that even possible…?”
“Charlotte!”
I spin around at the sound of my name. By now the commotion has caught much attention, including my father’s.
“Go inside now! What have I told you about walking about with-?”
“With our customers?” I ask. “Father, I wanted to see-”
“Go, now!” He barks and points to the store as he goes to follow the other chocolatiers. “I must go see what all this racket is about.”
And there they go. The big three: Fickelgruber, Prodnose, and Slugworth. I’m the only heiress of any of them but as of now there’s been no talk of me getting to help out with the family business. Father always waves it off and keeps saying ‘when you’re older,’ so I’ve got no clue what to expect.
I sigh in defeat and walk away from the excitement. Just when I thought this day was different. Back inside, I mope over to the window to see-
“Jeez louise!” My mouth drops open.
There, just above me, is my father. Flying! Just like the others! I pinch myself and shake my head to see if I’m awake and still see him levitating up to the ceiling!
“Lottie are you seeing this? It’s amazing!” I look down and relocate the man in the top hat, and I’m overcome with a sudden urge to meet him. He doesn’t look like a high-class highbrow. How is he making everyone so happy?
I forget all about being ladylike and slide down the railing, rushing to find the mystery candy man before he disappears.
“Out of the way! Coming through!” The chief of police barges through and the cops spread out.
“But he didn’t do anything wrong!” I complain.
“He’s disrupting business,” Officer Affable informs me.
“It’s the hoverchoc,” the man in the top hat explains.
Hoverchoc? I’ve never heard of-
Just then, father storms up and ushers the officer to go after the man. “Come, Charlotte.”
“B- But I wanted to-”
“Such nonsense!” Father ignores my pleas and starts mumbling to himself.
“Father…who was that? Did you just fly? I could barely see from the window-!”
“He is no one,” father states clearly. “He is a fool to think that he can even try to compete with us! I do not want you going anywhere near that boy, Charlotte. He’s bad news.”
We get back to the store, but before I’m dragged back inside I sneak one last look at the mysterious stranger. Who is he? Will he be able to survive dad’s competition?
"But N/N i must go to work!" Fickelgruber protested, You pushed him back into the bed and took his temperature, 105F?! "No you are staying home!" You said sterned and he could only cross his arms and pout, therea no way youre letting him go to work "But-" "No." He whined, you went to the kichen to get mediciene, he tried to sneak out
"Get your arse to bed..." Not even looking, he obeyed and you gave him the meds and made a simple soup, one of his favorites! Though all that you cook are his favorites, your soup is quite nice
You poured a glass of water (not cold) and you placed it on a small table and tray, you place it down in front of him "Eat up, Felix" he rolled his eyes and ate the soup, he smiled a little but he tried to keep pouting
"Why isnt the water cold?" You shook your head at him "The water so your throat wont hurt, now eat" he took another spoonful of soup "But its perfectly fine..." He took another, you shook your head and gestured for him to keep eating
After he finished you cleaned up and laid next to him in bed, still pouting but he relaxed his face when you stroked his head gently, kissing his forehead not his mouth, bcs yknow...hes sick
When he fell asleep you moved to your room, sleeping peacefully
You woke up when you heard a flower vase shattering, barging into his room "WHAT THE HELL?!" He was on the floor, face in the ground, his hand on the bedside table trying to get up and a shattered flower vase next to him
"Nothing my sweet bon bon...though i might need help up..." You picked him up and place him on his bed and cleaned up the shattered glass "So...what happened." You look at him dead in the eyes "Well...i tried to get up and get food...but i fell off by bed and..yeah..." "Well are you okay at atleast?" He nodded and settled back into his bed
"After breakfast, you are sleeping with me, this is too much..." You rubbed your temples and made him breakfast, afterward he walked (more like dragged by you) to your room and settled in
You got into pyjamas and stroked his head until he slept and he slept for A WHILE, but i guess you gotta do it before anything breaks again, you kissed him on the lips and wrapped your arms around him again, falling asleep
(Hope you like it anon!)
A World of Pure Imagination
Author's Note: This is my first story. It's a Wonka 2023 x Male!Reader. Let me know if you want a female version of this story, too! Just message me! Also, I'll refer to the reader as Yin instead of Y/N. It'll still mean your name; it's just a different way of writing it. This might change later. Let me know if you like the 'Yin' idea or not.
Enjoy the first chapter!
Summary: Yin is a runaway after his parents died before he turned 18. He meets Noodle, and when he needs a place to stay, she sneaks him into Scrubbit's and Bleacher's. Yin wishes for change. His wish seems to come true when an eccentric and very cute chocolatier comes to town, ready to sell his chocolate.
Chapter 1: A Chance Encounter
Tumblr media
Yin walked around the Gallery Gourmet, his (hair color) (straight/curly/wavy) slightly messy from the wind. He looked around at all the shops and restaurants for what felt like the hundredth time. It's the same old thing over and over again.
As he got closer to the center of the Gallery Gourmet, he saw where the three titans of chocolate resided. Arthur Slugworth, Felix Fickelgruber, and Gerald Prodnose. The sight of the three buildings made him tense, and he looked away.
But just before he could turn and walk away, he heard a voice. But not just a speaking voice. The voice was singing.
🎵At last, the Gallery Gourmet
I knew that we'd see it one day
It's everything you said, Mama
And, oh, so much more🎵
The voice was tenor like and sounded very optimistic. It drew Yin in, and he followed the voice. He weaved through people, excusing himself as he followed the voice.
🎵Each way that you turn, another famous chocolate store
Here's my destiny, I just need to unlock it
Will I crash and burn or go up like a rocket?
I got nothing to offer but my chocolate
And a hatful of dreams🎵
The voice got louder and more clear, signaling he was getter closer. Now, he was in the center of the Gallery Gourmet, and what he saw surprised him.
It was a man, a man around his age; maybe a little older.
He was dressed in a magenta coat with faded gold embroidery, a fuzzy vest over a striped button-up shirt. He also saw a bluish gray scarf around his neck. Beige striped pants that looked like mailman pants, tall worn brown boots, and a brown lumpy top hat. He also had a cane with him. From physical features, Yin could tell he was lithe and pale but not in a sickly sense. He couldn't see his face too well where he was, but he could tell he had dark brown curly hair underneath the top hat.
It was an unusual attire to see, but Yin quite liked it, even feeling envious because he was dressed similarly to the man; minus the coat, hat, cane, and scarf. But the unusual outfit wasn't what took him him off guard. It was the fact he was dancing in the middle of the square.
He looked ridiculous, but Yin couldn't help but find it endearing. He let out a couple of giggles before covering his mouth, a blush blossoming onto his cheeks. Since when did he giggle like a girl with a crush?
Then, he saw Officer Affable tap on the mysterious man's shoulder, reaching his hand out. Yin could only sigh in annoyance. He hated the 'no daydreaming' rule. It was stupid. Not to mention, you have to give three sovereigns for it?! He rolled his eyes. Whoever made the rules needs a good smack on the head.
The man reluctantly gave the officer the money before he left. Officer Affable made eye contact with Yin before giving the boy a nod. Yin nodded back respectfully. Officer Affable was a decent guy; better than some of the other officers.
Yin went to leave, but as he turned, he accidentally made eye contact with the top hat wearing man. He let out a soft gasp. He saw that the man had some sharp facial features but still managed to look childlike.
He quickly recovered and gave the man an apologetic look with a nod before quickly running the opposite way before the man could respond. Once he was behind a building, he inhaled and exhaled softly, his cheeks warm with embarrassment.
'I can't believe I embarrassed myself in front of him. God, I'm an idiot. But.... he didn't judge me when I was blatantly watching him. He actually looked friendly and really cute.' He thought to himself.
Yin bit his bottom lip shyly. He couldn't wait to tell Noodle this later.
(Time Skip to nighttime)
Yin sat in the room in the back of the lobby of Scrubbit and Bleacher's, leaning against the wall. Next to him was Noodle, his one and only best friend. She was reading a book as he read silently next to her. He would occasionally point at a word, silently asking Noodle what it meant. He was intelligent, but Noodle reads more than he does.
The scratching at the entrance to the wash house caught their attention. He heard Mrs. Scrubbit scolding Tiddles, the wild guard dog. They heard Bleacher talking to Ms. Scrubbit. Then, they heard they had another guest.
'Oh no. Not another guest.' Yin thought to himself.
They listened to the two talk, along with the voice of the new guest, a voice Yin swore he recognized.
Mrs. Scrubbit then called for Noodle to pour glasses of gin, which she reluctantly did. Yin took the opportunity to take a peek out into the main lobby. He saw the two pigs known as Mrs. Scrubbit and Bleacher, but when he saw the new guest, he had to hold back a gasp in worry.
'Oh no. It's the cute man from earlier!' He thought to himself.
Yin took Noodle's hand and dragged her into the backroom again.
"Yin? What's wrong?" Noodle whispered.
"It's him." He whispered back.
"You mean..."
Yin nodded. "The man from the Gallery Gourmet."
The pair watched the three converse.
"You see, I'm something of a magician. Inventor and chocolate maker. And first thing tomorrow at the Gallery Gourmet, I plan to unveil my most astonishing creation yet!"
Yin felt his body tense up again. He planned to sell chocolate?! Here?! He's up against the Chocolate Cartel, the only ones who sell chocolate in this town. He can't compete with them.
Yin watched the man remove his top hat. He got a better look at the curly haired man. Sharp jawline, tall nose, his eyes were big and wide, paired with a set of bushy but straight eyebrows that matched perfectly. However, he couldn't see what color his eyes were.
He wondered what color they were.
He watched as the man reached into the hat to seemingly pull out his creation. Instead, he pulled out a teapot.
"A teapot."
"No. That's just for making tea. One second."
He put the teapot back into the hat and went for a second time. This time, he pulled out a bunch of carrots.
"That's for my stew."
Noodle and Yin giggled as the curly haired magician got flustered and tried a third time, but instead continuously pulled out an assortment of scarves. Yin placed his hand over his mouth to prevent a particularly loud giggle that was about to escape his mouth; also, to hide the soft blush that was starting to bloom onto his cheeks.
After Yin calmed down, he saw the man, which he learned was named Mr. Wonka, revert back what Yin assumed was his usual demeanor as he thanked Mrs. Scrubbit. Then, Yin saw Scrubbit take out the thing that he and Noodle dreaded. A contract.
"I have to stop him from signing that. Yin. Go to my room and hide before Mrs. Scrubbit and Bleacher find you." Noodle instructed in a whisper. She pointed up the stairs from her hiding spot in the backroom. "You know where it is."
Yin, knowing the drill, nodded and quickly but quietly jogged upstairs to where the workers sleep. He got to Noodle's room and slipped in, closing the door. He sighed and sat on Noodle's bed. The room was dark, with only a few beams of soft blue moonlight shining through the window, bars on the outside of said window.
'I hope Noodle managed to convince Mr. Wonka into not signing that contract.' His thoughts then wandered to the very adorable magician. 'He seemed so optimistic and driven about his creation. I hope it’s as astonishing as he says it is.' He thought to himself with a soft smile.
Yin removed his boots and laid on the bed. He pulled the threadbare blanket over him. As he drifted off, he thought more about the optimistic and aspiring chocolatier. He was very excited to see what would happen tomorrow.
I haven’t been able to get this ask out of my head, and I’m kind of obsessed with the whole idea, so I decided to write a little bit for it! I’m terrible with writing multi-chapter fics, so I’ll probably just keep writing snippets and one shots from this universe. Anyway, I hope you enjoy!
Tumblr media
~
You were just about to escape down into the manhole when you heard someone behind you say your name. Fear spread throughout your whole body, freezing you in place. Damn it! You’d been caught, and that meant that the entire plan was probably ruined. Why had you not run faster?
A hand grabbed onto your shoulder, and you felt yourself being spun around. Your eyes widened when you saw who had caught you - it wasn’t a police officer as you had expected, but rather Mr. Fickelgruber. You felt relieved for a moment, but your heart rate quickly spiked again. Oh, this was even worse than being caught by the police! Not only was Fickelgruber a member of the Chocolate Cartel - and therefore an enemy - but you’d noticed the way he looked at you… not like he wanted to destroy you, but almost like he wanted something else. Something sinister.
“There you are, my dear,” Fickelgruber said with a sly smile. He withdrew his hand from your shoulder, studying your facial expression. “No need to look so anxious, darling. I am not going to harm you.”
“M-Mr. Fickelgruber… what are you doing here?” you asked, your voice annoyingly shaky. You wanted to sound tougher than that, but you couldn’t pretend you weren’t terrified, regardless of his assurances that he wouldn’t hurt you.
“I came to talk to you,” he told you, stepping a little closer to you. You were forced to step back, leaving you pressed up against the hard, brick wal of the alleyway. “About that debt of yours. You owe quite a large sum to Mrs. Scrubbit, don’t you? Such a large sum that I’m sure you’ll never be able to find the money to pay her what she is due.”
Of course you knew that. You didn’t need to be reminded. You’d been in the service of Mrs. Scrubbit since you were a young girl - even younger than Noodle was now. When you were born, your family was quite well off. You were loved, cared for, you always had food to eat and a nice bed to sleep in. But then one day, you were told that your parents had died. No one ever told you exactly what had happened to them, just that they were gone and they were never coming back. You were supposed to go into the care of some relatives, who would also take care of your inheritance until you came of age… but rather than care for you, they stole your inheritance and dumped you with Mrs. Scrubbit, who you were told was your ‘new guardian’. You were forced to sign a contract… and then put to work in the laundry. You’d long given up hope of ever escaping.
You were silent for a long moment, before the quiet was broken by Mr. Fickelgruber’s voice once again. “Oh, have I struck a nerve, my dear? I do apologise. I didn’t mean to upset you, I simply wanted to ensure that we were on the same page.” You weren’t sure whether you believed him when he said that he didn’t intend to hurt your feelings.
“What about my debt?” you asked, averting your eyes from his face. The way he stared at you was making you nervous. “I already know I’m going to spend the rest of my life in that laundry. I gave up believing I’d find a way out years ago.”
Fickelgruber tutted. “Oh, but what if I told you there was a way for you to get out? And not just you, but all of your friends as well.” Your gaze met his again, and your eyes went wide. “I see that I’ve caught your attention now,” he said with a smirk, sounding utterly pleased with himself.
“Really? All of us could get out?” For the first time in a long time, you felt hope for the future. It was a strange sensation that you almost didn’t recognise, and for a moment, it was as if all of your troubles had melted away. But a great deal of your hope was replaced with dread when you heard Fickelgruber speak again.
“On one condition.” Ah, you should have known. There was no way he was going to offer you a way out without expecting anything in return. He was a businessman after all, and that meant he would want to make a deal.
“I don’t have anything you would want.” You felt your heart drop. Salvation had been so close, only to be ripped away from you mere moments later.
“On the contrary, my dear. You have something that I would like very much.” Fickelgruber’s hand came up to gently brush against your cheek, and your breath hitched in your throat. Where was he going with this? "You see, I have found myself feeling rather… lonely, as of late. But I’m sure you understand that a man in my position cannot look just anywhere for companionship.
You didn’t know what to say. You’d had absolutely no idea what Fickelgruber was going to say, and never would you have guessed he was going to seriously suggest you marry him in exchange for your freedom and that of your friends. Momentarily speechless, you stared at Fickelgruber blankly, like you were waiting for him to laugh or tell you he was joking. But he simply stared back, and after about a minute, it finally sunk in that he was serious.
"W-what?" you stammered, completely lost for words.
"You heard me, darling," Fickelgruber said with a smirk, not seeming at all deterred by your baffled reaction. "I want you to be my wife. All of your debts will be payed, and you will live in luxury for the rest of your days. Doesn’t that sound nice?" His hand cupped your cheek, keeping you from looking away from him. Your face grew warm, and you felt a little bit light headed.
"Why would you want to marry me? I’m no one special, I just work in a laundry…"
"Oh, but we both know that isn’t who you always were, don’t we?” Your eyes widened in shock. How could he possibly know…? "I know where you came from, dear. The poor little orphan girl, losing her parents, and then having her inheritance ripped from her by her cruel family. You aren’t like your friends. You’re special. You deserve better than to be slaving away in some filthy laundry. You deserve to wear fine clothes, eat good food…" Fickelgruber’s voice trailed off, but he continued to stare right into your eyes. "You deserve to be cared for, and I can give you that."
What were you to do? You hated working for Mrs. Scrubbit. You were always tired and sore, and dirty… the promise of nice food and new clothes, not to mention a warm bath and a comfortable bed to sleep in… well, it was tempting. When you were a little girl, before you’d given up hope of escaping, you always dreamed of a handsome prince swooping in to save you - just like in the stories your parents read to you before they passed. Mr. Fickelgruber wasn’t exactly a prince - though you had to admit he was handsome - but he was offering you a way out. And not just for you, but for your friends as well…
“So if I say yes, all of the others will be free. You promise?” you asked cautiously, your eyes trained on his face - not that he was giving you much choice to do otherwise - trying to determine whether he was telling you the truth or not.
“Of course, my dear. Simply say the word, and I will send the money straight to Mrs. Scrubbit.” Though you couldn’t be completely sure, it seemed to you that Fickelgruber was telling the truth. Did he really care for you that much that he would pay such exorbitant fees, just to take you as his wife? The thought of someone desiring you so much… it made your stomach flutter. He truly was offering you a good deal…
"Yes, Mr. Fickelgruber. I… I will marry you."
Imagine: Being Felix's trophy wife. The marriage was never built off of anything but convenience, a loveless basically arranged marriage only to help boost eachothers wealth and power. The constant spats and questioning if the pros outweighed the cons.
The Secret Ingredient (Willy Wonka (2023) x Fickelgruber Daughter) Chapter 2: Pleased To Meet You
Tumblr media
“Are you alright, Ms. Charlotte?” Lottie asks as she brings over my breakfast tray. “You seem distracted.”
She’s right. Ever since yesterday my mind’s been in a fog. I can’t stop thinking about the man in the top hat. It’s like I’ve got a nagging feeling in the back of my head that’s itching to know who he is.
“Sorry, Lottie. I usually don’t take so much interest in newcomers, but there was something different about that man yesterday. I hope father doesn’t go too hard on him.”
“I very much plan to!” The man in question announces. “That Wonka fellow is going to wish he’d never set foot in this town!”
My head perks up. “Wonka?” Now I have a name to match the face. “But why? He won’t hurt anyone.”
Father scoffs. “He will hurt our business! Besides, he’s-” he shutters. “P- P-”
I raise a brow. “Poor?”
He leans over and gags. “Yes! That! But don’t worry, dear. We are going to run him out and he will no longer be a threat.”
I feel my temper start to churn and I gawk at his arrogance. “There’s more to life than competition, dad. He wants to sell chocolate, that’s all. Isn’t encouraging his dream worth a few coins?”
But it’s no use. Once again my words wash over father and he walks off to join Prodnose and Slugworth for their morning meeting. Guess I’ll go back to my usual reading and study sessions? Unless…
“Say, Lottie,” I think out loud. “I might be willing to take up that offer from yesterday. You’d still be inclined to sneak me out tonight for a bit, would you?”
The maid’s eyes widen and she gets a funny smile. “Yes! I knew it! I knew there was something funny about you yesterday!”
I frown. “What’s that mean?”
She giggles. “Oh, you know. See a cute boy, can’t stop thinking about him…” She trails off suggestively.
“Excuse me?” I gawk. “What’s wrong with wanting to meet someone new? This man might be the adventure I’ve been looking for!”
The day drags on unbelievably slow. The whole time I’m stuck in mind-numbing private lessons about finance and lady etiquette. The only enjoyable session I have is my lecture on chocolate chemistry.
“Mr. Snickers, just how many cocoa beans can be churned into chocolate? Wouldn’t it be the more beans there are the richer the chocolate is?”
My teacher gets a certain gleam in his eye that always happens when I spark an idea. “One would think, Ms. Fickelgruber. But there is also a rumor that there could be a secret ingredient we may never be able to measure.”
A secret ingredient…
Mr. Snickers is by far one of my favorite people. Sometimes I wish he was my adoptive father. He’s no doubt much more caring than my real one. Sadly he has no wife or kids of his own so he’s devoted his life to teaching. His lessons both inspire imagination and moxy, which are things my life craves on a daily basis.
“I’ll leave off with that note,” Mr. Snickers says as he packs up his briefcase. “Remember your assignment is to compare the different cocoa bean to sugar ratios from the major chocolate corporations.”
Just then Lottie appears with his weekly check in hand. They both exchange shy smiles and my hypothesis thickens. For weeks I’ve been seeing their feelings blossom and it only drives my curiosity behind the idea of love. Obviously they take a fancy to each other so why ignore it? But perhaps it’s not as simple.
I catch a quick peek at the window. It’s dark now, meaning it’s almost time for father to retire to bed. My moment of opportunity approaches. It’s best to wear something less conspicuous so as to not draw attention from the constables. For this evening’s confidential gallivant I choose a plain light pink dress with brown boots. I’m actually surprised these are still in my closet. I haven’t worn anything this “poor” in years. But unlike father I prefer a touch of modesty.
Deep breath. Take a look outside… All dark. Father’s gone to bed. Time to move-
Thump. Thump.
What in Heaven? There’s footsteps on the ceiling- Wait a minute. Is that…? It is! The chocolate man and a little girl are floating on the roof! Carrying… balloons? There’s no way I can walk away from this now!
I do little to hide my excitement and take off running down the staircase.
Lottie spots me and starts following. “Where are you going?”
My smile widens. “I’m meeting destiny, Lottie!”
She grips her long skirt and chases after me. “Wait for me! I need to sneak you out, remember?”
Right. That part.
“Quick, get in here.” Lottie beckons to the dumbwaiter and I climb inside. “Once you’re downstairs, take the door on the right. It should lead you to the back alley. Good luck!”
She gives me one final wave and I’m lowered into the cellar. Down here all there is are extra ingredients and old trunks full of countless forgotten things. I follow Lottie’s instructions and step out into the brick alley. It’s so dark not a single shadow is cast. The perfect environment for a quick sneak-out.
If my intuition is correct, the wind would have blown the two balloonists towards West End Street. Thankfully there’s little foot traffic so I have the courtesy to search the skies without bumping into anyone. Since father hardly lets me leave I need to stay focused and not get lost. I shall use landmarks. Like this fountain-
“Don’t sell chocolate here ever again!”
The police chief’s familiar voice heightens my attention and I see him holding a man’s head under the cold water. Wait! Why is he dunking him?
“Stop!” I sprint over and now see it’s the Wonka man that’s being held under. “Chief, he’s done nothing wrong!”
“On the contrary, miss. He sold chocolate without a license.”
After a few seconds too long I start to fear for his vitals. “Let him breathe!”
The chief realizes he’s still holding Wonka under. “Oh. Right.”
He lets go and the poor man rises gasping for breath, sopping wet. Same overcoat, same worn out boots. I notice a top hat on the ground and pick it up to offer him. But Wonka’s still clearing the water from his eyes and he doesn’t see.
“There’s your warning, Wonka,” the chief pats him on the back and starts walking away. “Have a good evening, miss.”
Wonka wipes the wet hair away from his face and now I can see just how cute he is, even if he is wet. But not just cute. There’s an intriguing look about him that makes me feel nostalgic and want to explore the wildest ideas my mind can conjure.
“It is you!” I gasp. “The strange man with the magic chocolate!”
The man himself does a mock bow and tilts his head. “I’m sorry, have we met before?”
I shake my head. “No. In fact, I was hoping I might find you to meet you properly.”
Wonka’s eyes twinkle. “Really?”
“Yes I want to meet the man who made everyone happy with his chocolate. You see, normally the chocolate around here isn’t as enchanting as others make it out to be. But your chocolate really seemed to spark something in people yesterday.” I bite my lip and hold up his hat again as a kind of peace offering. “I’m sorry you got kicked out. I tried to stop them.”
“Thank you!” The man grins and places the hat on his head. “Well, since you have done me a service it’s only fair that you get to taste the marvelous chocolate you seem to admire. Here, try one!”
He digs into his pocket and pulls out a chocolate the size of a strawberry. No charge? Father would go ballistic over free samples. It’s not that I’m not touched by his gesture but chocolate has sadly started to become more ordinary than it should.
“Oh, thank you. I appreciate it, really. It’s just… I’m personally not a big fan of chocolate…”
“Come again?” Wonka suddenly gets a serious expression. “I don’t trust people who don’t like chocolate.”
I roll my eyes. “I don’t not like chocolate, it’s just that chocolate’s been a bigger part of my life than I’d care to admit.”
The man seems amused by my answer and tips his hat.
“I like you! Oh, where are my manners? Name’s Wonka, Willy Wonka! At your service! Miss…?”
A name. He wants my name.
I bite my lip again as I banter with my internal struggle.
“It’s Charlotte.”
Willy gives me a lopsided grin. “Usually there’s a second part, right?”
I nervously laugh half-heartedly. “Yes, but for me people usually judge me differently when they hear the second part.”
The top-hatted man steps closer and wiggles his eyebrows. “Promise I won’t.”
I arch an eyebrow to show my doubts.
“I promise! And-” He holds up a pinkie. “I’ll pinkie promise!”
His childlike demeanor is too adorable to ignore despite my brain tugging at me to say no.
“Charlotte Fickelgruber,” I speak quickly and tense up, waiting for him to scoff or lose interest. But instead Willy’s surprise is actually polite.
“Really? I didn’t know Fickelgruber had a daughter.”
“Not many do,” I mutter. “Aside from being next in line for his chocolate empire I really don’t have much purpose.”
“Why say that?” Willy asks. “You’re part of one of the biggest chocolate industries ever!”
“Yes, and you’ve personally witnessed how cruel my father can be.”
We start a slow walking pace down the dimly-lit cobblestone street. Now I notice Willy’s still using a cane.
“Why the cane? You're not crippled.”
“It adds character!” he smiles. “You’d be surprised how many uses it can have.”
I peer over at him with curious eyes. “What’s your story? You’re obviously not from here.”
Wonka grins. “That obvious, huh? You’re right. I’ve just come from sailing 7 years at sea.”
My eyes widen. “Sailing? That sounds fun! What’s it like? Are there sea monsters and mermaids? I’ve only ever read about what the outside world is like.”
The man chuckles at my response. “I never spotted one of those, though that doesn’t mean they could be real. Do you read much?”
“Yes. Books are what take me away from here.”
“I know someone who thinks the exact same thing,” Willy points at me as if he’s a salesman addressing a lucky customer. “Well, this is me.”
We’ve stopped at what looks like a dingy hotel. Hm. For being such a colorful character Wonka certainly picked a dodgy place to stay.
“Will you be back at the Galeries Gourmet tomorrow?” I ask anxiously. “People adore your chocolate so you’re bound to make a big profit.”
Willy takes off his hat and twirls it open his finger. “Sadly I’m afraid my business deals will have to be done under the table from now on. Or better yet, under the city.”
“What does that mean?”
“It means that since I’m not allowed to sell chocolate in the Galeries Gourmet without a license then I’m selling it elsewhere.”
An uneasy feeling starts to churn in my stomach. Illegal chocolate? What has this world come to?
“Don’t worry.” He must have noticed my concern. “I made some new friends who have helped me come up with a plan. By tomorrow Wonka chocolate will be sold throughout the city for one sovereign apiece, unbeknownst to the police.”
I stifle a laugh. “You only charge one sovereign? No wonder father and the others are upset. That’s way too affordable for their standards.”
Willy just shrugs. “Chocolate shouldn’t be deprived from anyone.” He dramatically looks around to see if anyone’s watching and leans in to whisper: “If you wanna see us in action, stop by the bridge tomorrow.”
My breath catches. “B- But I’m… me.”
“Yes. You are you. What’s wrong with that?” he asks.
“I’m the daughter of one of the men who are trying to run you out of town.”
“So? You’re not your father, Charlotte. Seems to me like you want to change the world with chocolate as much as I do.”
“Psst!”
We both look up to see a girl’s face peeking out of the top window. She’s the one Willy was flying with earlier!
“Willy! Come on! I’ve got the milk, now get up here so we can make the chocolate!”
“Right!” Willy turns back to me and tips his hat as he starts sneaking off to the back stairs. “Sorry to rush Charlotte but duty calls! See you tomorrow!”
And tomorrow can’t come soon enough!
