Hi! Thank you for all that you do. I love this blog! I plan on showing support for the ladies by buying digital copies of songs I don't have from mora jp (for what I couldn't get on ototoy). The tutorial seems fairly straight forward with the registering and such, but I was wondering, since the post is 3 years old, if the VPN you recommend is the same as in the post? Thank you!
Hello there!
Ohh! I am very happy to hear that 馃
And you are absolutely right of course, my mora TUTORIAL is pretty old and no longer up-to-date regarding the VPN service.
I haven't been using either of these two options for a very long time. None of the free add-ons were working properly anymore so I had to look into some alternatives. I actually switched to a paid service a couple of years ago because I wanted something more reliable that would help me get around all the region-blocks.
At the moment, I am subscribed to a 2-year-plan by Surfshark which costs around 60 bucks, I would say that's a pretty reasonable price but I am sure there are cheaper plans available on the market.
Thanks for the heads-up, I will be updating my tutorial right away!

I spent the last three days converting my music library from Apple Music to a 700+ file FLAC collection. It was miserable. But on the bright side, I鈥檝e rediscovered music that I haven鈥檛 listen to in years.

dreamt the hot new trend was combination cd/mp3 players with tons of little screens for equalizers and winamp visualizations hanging off of them. absolutely massive contraptions with ten different screens like actually wait i'm pretty sure it looked suspiciously like a duel disk
but i hadn't known about this new thing so someone mentioned having a dedicated mp3 player and i was like "oh same" but then they busted out one of these huge motherfuckers and like five other people crowded around to show off theirs and wanted to compare and i was like. nevermind actually. i will leave my little metal rectangle in my pocket, i think.

im glad i finally got around to downloading and reorganizing my offline music collection. finally completely gapless playback between tracks, no more awkward second of silence between tracks in an album that were meant to mix together.....

I have a strange question.
Lossy audio compression formats work by cutting out frequencies that are difficult for humans to hear. Most humans cannot easily hear the difference between a medium-quality mp3 and a lossless audio file. But cats can hear higher frequencies than we can, so to them, even a high quality lossy file could sound quite different from the original.
I do not currently have a cat, but I hope to have cats someday, and I want to play some songs from my music collection for them to see what they think. My music collection is rather large and I would prefer not to have too many FLAC files.
Does anyone have any idea which lossy audio format(s) would create the best potential listening experience for a cat?

I just love the other ways of finding music outside of doing it through a streaming service owned by a company that's going to fire more employees anyway. Also, pirate that streaming service btw.

BEGGING people to learn how quality loss works.
Converting an existing MP3 file to FLAC / JPG file to PNG / 200px image to 4K / etc. will not make it higher quality. It will not give it more detail or make it nicer. It will only make it take up more space!
It's like putting a single cupcake on a big platter and expecting it to turn into a 5-tier wedding cake!
Or putting a painting in a fancy glass frame and expecting it to remove the 100-year-old coffee stain!
It does not work that way. It will never work that way.
