SLYFOX WEEK DAY 3

“Welcome back ringtail...”

“It’s good to be back.”

It was hastily done as soon as I saw it’s the 23rd of September. I want to do something for this day, and what better way to do so than participating in SLYFOX week?

A recent stream of Sly 4 got me feeling a little sad, knowing how the game ends. To cheer myself up, I drew a sketch of them resting on a beach, being happy that he is home at last. I hope something like this happen in the fifth game.

Which means Sanzaru will now most likely focus solely on VR gaming. Looks like Sly Cooper will no longer be handled or developed by them if Sony ever decides to revive the Sly Cooper series.

If someone pointed a gun at your head and told you to make a fresh new Sly Cooper continuity, how would you make it?

Looking at this prompt, all I can think of is Leonard Nimoy.

I’m not particularly attached to the “new” Star Trek films, or the franchise in general for that matter. But seeing Leonard Nimoy’s Spock show up in the 2009 movie, bringing with him an actual in-universe acknowledgement and explanation for the separate timeline... that idea captivates me. Yes, I’m also a firm adherent of an infinite multiverse, so you can have as many different continuities as you like. But I’ve always thought there was some fantastic merit to that idea.

Of course, not everyone liked it, and for understandable reasons. It was a pretty sad ending for one of television’s all-time most iconic characters. But that’s the thing, isn’t it? Not all characters are so lucky. 

I submit to you; yeah, a new continuity. A new cast, even. A more vulnerable Sly. A more present and well-rounded Carmelita. An openly not-straight Murray. A... well Bentley’s more or less fine. Penelope! A Bentley and Penelope who are still in love. There.

Let the new timeline roll. Let us get accustomed to the differences and familiarities. Let it be its own thing. 

And then, once it’s solid enough to stand in opposition, #freeSlyfromEgypt

Sly Prime (played, of course, by Kevin Miller) enters this new universe, and the New Gang help him get home. They succeed in returning him to just two weeks after the end of Sly 4, because hey, time’s fucked anyway. Problem solved. Years of fan anxiety instantly cured. The new timeline can keep on its merry way with the old one finally put to rest.
