you don't notice it at first. but his gaze his gentle and suiting. yosano calls you from her office and, of course, you're leaping from your desk to answer her question. you hover near the entrance of her office, discussing a meeting you had with the agency just the previous night.

dazai pauses his work. the sun is setting turning the office a decadent shade of crimson and orange. but his eyes trail over to your figure in the entrance of yosano's office. his hands are interlaced neatly into each other and his chin rests just so on them. his eyes glisten as he soaks in your presence in the careening light.

he's just so enraptured by you. a sort of horrid feeling of adoration boils in the depths of his chest and he just can't admit that he's taken some form of affection for you.

as you turn, dazai's eyes glaze over and he can feel his breath escape from his lips. for the first time, he feels uncertain. should he play it off? look away? laugh and pretend he's not absolutely infatuated by your every waking minutes on earth?

"something the matter, osamu?"

and, oh god, his stomach churns when you speak his name so beautifully, so achingly.

"nothing," he croons, smiling as he tears his gaze away.

the lovely, warmth of the alcohol in the back of your throat buzzes tenderly. you're chatting with hirotsu about something vague. the rest of today's mission is surrounded by nothing but memories of things unworthy of mention. at your side is chuuya, who peers into the depths of his wine glass with apprehension.

then, his eyes trail to your face. he wants to blame it on the alcohol. it would be so easy to let fragile words tumble from his mouth and into your heart, but he's not tipsy enough for this. instead, his eyes linger on the way your lips move to answer a question, the way the smile crinkles your skin, and the way your eyes wrinkle with gratuity.

fuck, his mind is a mess and it isn't even that late yet. he's drunk on your laughter, your smile, your... everything. the red painted on his cheeks does nothing to hide his pure devotion to your very being as you turn to check up on him.

chuuya can barely comprehend your words properly. his eyes are zeroed in on your expression, a look of concern flashing across your face as you place a hand on his cheek. he's about ready to choke on the wine in the back of his throat.

he stutters out something inaudible and curses vaguely when you smile. he swears he's making it so obvious he's head over heels for you.

Instruments I think BSD characters would play !! (ft. the ADA and the PM!)

Atsushi - Flute. Guy flute energy radiates off of him at Chernobyl levels.

Dazai - Piano, but he could probably play any instrument if he tried hard enough.

Ranpo - Alto Sax, but only because he likes using flavoured reeds.

Kunikida - Basson. A percentage of his salary goes to buying reeds.

Yosano - Oboe. Tried repairing the chips in her reed with her ability (didn’t work).

Kyouka - Piccolo! Tiny instrument for the tiny detective :3

Tanizaki - Trumpet (offensively).

Kenji - Any percussion instrument, but specifically the cowbell.

Fukuzawa - Timpani. His patience is only challenged when tuning it.

Naomi - Cello. Does everything but practice in the practice rooms.

Chuuya - Electric guitar, acoustic guitar, all the guitars and any guitar.

Kouyou - Harp, but in a casual way.

Akutagawa - Violin. Only corrects his posture when performing at concerts.

Gin - Bass clarinet. She’s just so cool so obviously she has to play the raddest instrument.

Higuchi - Trombone. Wishes she could carry the PM as much as she carries the band.

Tachihara - Drumkit, and refuses to play anything else except for the snare drum.

Mori - Mainly conducts, but also knows how to play piano + other string instruments.

Hirotsu - Tuba, but had to switch to percussion because he doesn’t have enough lung capacity.

Kajii - Tenor Sax. Whenever he makes a mistake he says it’s just “jazz”.

Verlaine - French Horn.

sooo i finished the bsd anime! thoughts on s5 ft spoilers ofc:

- i heard about people hating fukuchi but he was honestly such an amazing villain his fights were always really epic and i liked his connection to fukuzawa

- tecchou and kenji best friends i'm here for it

- where the fuck is jouno i want him back where are gin and tachihara and hirotsu and higuchi i need them

- lucylucylucylucy-

- this fandom made chuuya out to be so much more relevant than he actually was and i feel deceived but also episodes with him were always like a special treat for me

- sigma really grew on me i think i'm gonna read the manga

We were expecting your arrival soon, but no one sent word it would be today.” “My brother is currently at work, but will be back before dinner.” Right as Atsushi started to wonder if the other person (who seemed to be more or less his own age) might be Akutagawa Ryûnosuke, they confirmed otherwise. Not like knowing that eased his worries in any capacity, since making a good impression to his future sibling-in-law was incredibly important as well. “Gin, by the way.” They were dressed in typical masculine clothing and also had quite the soft voice, but what struck Atsushi the most were their sharp gray eyes scanning him through and through.

sigh. bsd warriors au (rough height lineup + some notes under the cut)

loosely based off of canon builds of course. with some improv where i Do Not See canon height (ie kouyou) or just couldn't remember and didn't want to look it up

before i go into specific designs: yes i know pinning down specific breeds in a warriors setting is kind of useless, but i like having the point of reference so /shrug. also i mostly don't have names in mind but i have noted ideas where i feel strongly about them

atsushi (prefix tiger. obviously) mostly pulls from toygers -- i was going to make him a lynx point, then i found out these guys exist.

dazai's white markings are mostly meant to mirror his bandages. and yes he is a mackerel tabby. no further comment

kyouka (prefix dusk or blossom/bloom? i guess you could combine those into duskblossom/duskbloom as well)'s marking is similarly for her phone. it's heart-shaped because i just always like that in designs/actual cats.

kunikida -- as well as mori and hirotsu, though the latter is longhaired -- mostly pulls from siamese and oriental shorthairs.

ranpo is a classic tabby. as you might be able to tell i do not um. fully know how to color that yet

was waffling between burmese and spotted tabby for yosano for a while; the only deciding factor was that i didn't want to color another tabby. silver lining was that i accidentally made her face markings kind of resemble a butterfly in attempting to stylize.

i was yukking it up about pretending to forget tanizaki and just doing him later for so long that i actually forgot kenji (prefix sun) until i had started on sketches. sorry. anyway he's meant to be some sort of british shorthair/norwegian forest cat mix because british shorthairs are so friend-shaped but i also liked the idea of him being fluffy and eventually giant

tanizaki's ears are based off of american curls', i wanted to do something distinguishing and the curls are cute -- and not inherently linked with major health detriments like scottish folds.

fukuzawa (prefix wolf) is a maine coon. they tend to look so stern and regal, especially with neck ruffs.

the akutagawa siblings (i like them having kind of matching prefixes like raven and crow but shadowstrike/something similar also seems fitting for either) are partially based on singapuras because of their huge eyes. their white markings are respectively for akutagawa's cravat & hair streaks and gin's mask & choker.

chuuya (prefix fox, foxflight?) is a somali mix. ft maine coon-style ear tufts solely because they're cool. also every time i look at his placement on the size chart i laugh a little. sorry king

kouyou (prefix cherry, cherryshade? cherryblaze? cherrystorm?) is a flame/red point balinese.

higuchi is just a generic shorthaired tabby. i thought about making her a dilute calico/tortie but decided against it for similar reasons to yosano.

tachihara is a tortoiseshell because i like torties and i thought it would nicely represent both his conflicted alliances and natural/dyed hair colors. also yes xy tortoiseshells/calicos are super rare if not nonexistent but if you don't think i already handle almost everyone as trans by default that's on you.

i don't have any genuine reasoning for kajii (prefix lemon) being a sphynx i just thought it would be funny.

q is meant to be a chimera! it helps represent their hair and eyes, and it seems fitting for them to have absorbed a twin or something lmao.

“Chuuya-kun!” Your joyful voice echoed between the corridors, so the red head turned around. Seeing your figure running towards him, a small smile appeared on his usually dissatisfied face.

“Y/N. Hello.” He said, to which you nodded, and after a while you grabbed his hand. “Hm?”

“I have an offer and you can't refuse it.” You started mysteriously, and the twenty-two-year-old raised an eyebrow. Seeing your face, he smiled gently after a while, and you stood on your toes. “When we finish our work, maybe we can go to my house and...”

“... Y/N-chan!”

Unfortunately, you were unable to finish the sentence, because from nowhere, Tachihara and Mr. Hirotsu appeared next to you and Nakahara. You immediately bowed to the two men out of pure respect, because they’ve been working much longer than you have in the Port Mafia.

“Hiiii. What’s my favorite Mafia’s girl doing?” The boy with the plaster on his nose asked with a wide smile, your cheeks flushing in an instant. Chuuya snorted quietly under his breath.

“Y/N, you were gonna tell me something.” Your man reprimanded you and you nodded.

“Yes! You’re right!” You were about to open your mouth when another happy voice rang through the walls of the building. Shortly thereafter, Kajii appeared next to you, asking what are you doing now.

Surrounded by so many men, you didn’t know what to say first, so you only stood and smiled while listening to the argument between Michizou and Motojirou. Chuuya, on the other hand, was still standing next to you, feeling even more angry in his stomach because he was experiencing the same things every day. Literally day in and day out.

Whenever you had the opportunity to talk with your lover, someone would interrupt you. Sometimes it was boss Mori, sometimes the current three men like in this moment, sometimes Elise who wanted to play with you, sometimes Ozaki, sometimes even Akutagawa. You were always taken from him and you two could talk only after finishing work, when your boyfriend dragged you for a walk or to the bar. It was so terribly annoying for Chuuya, though he never said it out loud, knowing that you liked the other members very much.

Your blue-eyed boy didn’t want to take your friends away from you, knowing that they give you a lot of fun too.

But it didn’t change the fact that your boyfriend felt... overlooked. And less well-liked than you, although it was not main of a problem, because he didn’t like anyone too much too, but you know...

“What’s that noise?”

‘Great. She came too.’ The foxy-haired thought as she saw the blonde woman in a black suit approaching all of you. Her face was focused and cold, but as soon as she saw your figure, a small blush touched her face.

“Y-Y/N-chan!”

“Oh. Good afternoon, Higuchi-san.” You smiled at her, which made her cheeks much more redder.

Chuuya’s left eyebrow twitched.

As more questions and praise rained in your direction, your boyfriend stood beside you, gently tapping the sole of his shoe. He was still calm, but when Tachihara asked if you would go out for a drink with him tonight, your boyfriend stepped into action, shaking your hand. You looked at Chuuya out of the corner of your eye, understanding what he meant.

“I’m really sorry guys, but I already have plans for today. Maybe we’ll all go to the bar at next weekend?” You said in a warm voice, which everyone agreed to, thinking it was a really good idea. “Let’s go back to work, or boss Mori will get angry on us, haha.” You added and bowing once again to them.

After, when your friends left you and Chuuya, you looked at your lover again, touching his lightly rosy cheek.

“Everything alright, darling?”

“It’s just... Don’t you feel tired of their questions? Because of them, we never have free time to talk.” He muttered, turning his head slightly.

“I feel this way sometimes, but I like them a lot. I’m sorry if you feel left out, but you know that I only love you and they are just friend from work.” You responded honestly, moving closer to hug him.

At first you didn’t feel the boy returning your hug. Instead, something ended up on your head. You quickly looked up and you saw a piece of your boyfriend’s hat. Your cheeks turned pink when you realized that Chuuya would never let anyone to touch it.

“Take it and wear it while I’m not around. Maybe then the rest members will understand that you’re my girlfriend, not their.” He rolled his eyes, wrapping his arm around your shoulders. You nodded in big as heck shock. “Anyway. What were you trying to tell me then?”

“W-Well... Maybe when we finish work, we'll went to me and see a movie or...”

“... Oh! Onee-chan!” Elise’s happy, girly voice and sight of Mori walking beside her made Chuuya tilted his head back.

“Hold me or I’ll kill them. I swear to God, I will crush them into the wall like a little, stinky bugs.”

You laughed softly, giving him a small smooch on the cheek and quickly saying that after work you invite him to your apartament for a horror movie and red, dry wine who you bought two days ago.

The boy nodded to you, then patted the hat on your head and started walking forward, ‘cause he had a few more tasks to do. You, on the other hand, paid some attention to the conversation with the little, cute girl and your leader.
