// murder of a trans person
So I had to walk across town today to renew my health insurance card and I passed a headstone shaped cardboard sign in front of the university that read :
Tumblr media
[1994-2023 / Gab / beaten to death because they were trans in an unhoused situation]
This is on the very same campus that I, a trans man, study on.
What a time to be alive.

Could you do Fig, Chirp and Sundry Sidney for the ask meme?
Thank you! An Emily Axford trifecta!
Fig - I have the most to say about this one lmao
First impression: So since Fantasy High was the first actual play I watched, I was not famaliar with Emily Axford, and I thought Fig would be a stereotypical rebellious character. Funny and likeable, but not a character I'd become emotionally attached to.
Impression now: I know the power of Emily Axford now. That rebellion comes from a place of such deep care for the people and world around her, and it pretty much cracks my heart open. Would die for.
Favorite moment: "The you that appears in Ayda's life is not the illusion. It's really you." This scene is constantly rotating in the back of my mind, ready to devastate me at any moment.
Idea for a story: Ohh, I'm not so good with plots, but any deep exploration of her relationship with Sandra Lynn is something I want to read.
Unpopular opinion: I don't think I still believe this, but at a time I thought her being secretive about Ayda was OOC given how much of an open book she was about everything else. But hearing Emily talk about it and how clearly special it is to her, I see that relationship holding a particular space with Fig.
Favorite relationship: Controversial not to pick Ayda, but her and Sandra Lynn. "You're allowed to be a complex person."
Favorite headcanon: She invites Ayda and Adaine to hang out with her dads to try and make up for their relationships with theirs
Chirp
First impression: Oh my God Emily and Lou are playing chaotic cousins, this is everything I never knew I wanted.
Impression now: The same, but with the addition of "oh and she's deeply in love with a woman, thank you Emily Axford for your service."
Favorite moment: The tea scene with Rue. "A slightly shorter chair." Gift of gab. All the trickery. Iconic cousin behaviour.
Idea for a story: Her introducting Squawk to Esme and Peep, full of hijinks.
Unpopular opinion: I don't know if this is unpopular, and it wasn't Chrip's role in the season, but I would've loved more depth pertaining to Esme and Peep. I just know how Emily can ruin me.
Favorite relationship: COUSIN.
Favorite headcanon: Playing with Peep in the woods and pretending that mundane, mortal things are magic - just a classic mom playing make believe with her kid.
Sundry Sidney
First impression: Emily is playing a droid and that is important to her, so it is also important to me.
Impression now: So much fun, some sneaky Emily Axford depth in there.
Favorite moment: Junkmother, without question.
Idea for a story: Something something her and Barry comparing how they relate to Warfare Whitneys and the Barrys, something something.
Unpopular opinion: Probably my least favourite Emily PC but Startstruck's also my least favourite season. I just want more emotional devastation with my comedy, if you can't tell.
Favorite relationship: NUTS AND BOLTS, ANDROIDS AND STEROIDS.
Favorite headcanon: It's definitely my Axmurph bias leaking through, but she's FWB with Barry Syx.

Hi today is Thanksgiving here aka Friendsgiving for me and Disaster has struck in lego city so uh have this funny writing i did to cope with Piesis (Pie Crisis). -📝 anon
---
Raphael slowly uncovered Mikey's ears, his face a few shades lighter from the shock he felt listening to the long line of curses come out of your mouth.
"Jumpin' Jack Flash, I hadn't even heard summa those, and we ran around Manhattan for a while..."
Red and Orange both watched as you slid down the side of the counter in a heap, a mess of rich blues and purples splattered all over the floor, your shoes, and the fridge nearby. You looked utterly wrecked.
"Uh, what was that screaming that sounded vaguely like it came from a horror movie we aren't old enough to watch?" Leo murmured, slinking into the kitchen along with Donnie, who glanced up from his phone long enough to see the mess and let out a low whistle of sympathy.
"Yikes. That's a lot of pie guts."
You gave a mumble in reply and tucked your head into your knees. Mikey picked his way across the battlefield, shimmying his way past minefields of pie crust collateral and trenches of blueberry goo before squatting next to you.
"You good...?"
The only response you gave was a hollow "no" and the shaking of your head.
"What in the name of Lou Jitsu even happened?" asked, Leo, looking around. It was almost impressive. There were dots of pastry on the ceiling.
"I'd wager a guess, based on the pie splat radius and the angle, our little hard at work baker forgot how they take up space with physically existing and accidentally hip-checked the pizza stone their homemade lemon blueberry pie was on." The softshelled mutant slowly lifted his goggles up. "Knocked the whole thing to the ground, didn't you?"
His response was a warbled wail that vaguely could be understood as words.
"I think we need to babyproof edges and doorways..." the youngest murmured. "It seems to be an issue with you."
Raphael, his arm around their friend, leaned forward and swiped a chunk of crust laden with the filling and popped it in his mouth. Donnie shuttered and politely turned to gag.
"...Dang. Dang that is...REAL good pie. Still good pie! Its got salvageable bits!"
Mikey lifted the face-down tin and gabbed a piece of busted latticed crust himself, Leo opting to swipe a finger through a splotch on the counter.
"Oh wow. Yeah that is good."
"Dang! You should give me that recipe."
You whined out a series of hard to understand words and babbling as your hands flailed while you talk.
"Yeah, that's a problem." Donatello nodded, opting to have some of the remnants of pastry that clung to the inside of the tin and had not touched any of the tile. "Its nice that we like it here on the floor, but- Ooh, wow that is nice, very bright- you can't exactly bring it to the lair's Friendsgiving dinner tomorrow like that."
"Splat Pie~" crooned the youngest, reaching to grab some more of the demolished desert.
"Yeah, and the stores're all closed until the day after, ain't they?" Raph asked. You whined and nodded.
"Dont worry about it," Leo preened, waving a hand dismissively, "I think I'll actually die if I dont get a full slice, we'll get you what all you need again." He paused, listening to your mumble as you began to collect yourself from the meltdown. "Mikey can help remake the crust while we go on a run. You need more blueberries and a lemon? Easy. Surely something is open somewhere!"
"I'll stay and help clean up." Raphael said, slowly standing to his full lumbering height. "You should go shower off the pie gore."
You slowly began trailing away, mumbling something pitifully.
"It's no problem, we love you too!" Leonardo chirped before waving you off, "And dont thank us yet! Thank us with full pie. Come on Donald-"
With that, the twins portaled off somewhere in search of groceries while you slunk off for a boiling hot shower as Raphael and Michelangelo started cleaning between stealing salvaged bites of the confection.
--
(Its all okay now but Oof i had some BIG emotions when The Tragedy Struck.)
OhNo.. sounds like an Issue happened. I hope you're doing okay now!
This sounds like another instance of Big Brother Raph's instincts popping up to control the situation & calm everyone down. Love how everyone's just Ready To Go as soon as there's a plan!

At Monterey Pop Festival, (including a photo of Peter with a fan after having his shirt torn off) June 16-18, 1967. Photos by Michael Ochs Archives/Getty Images, Jim Marshall, GAB Archives/Redferns, Bob White Photography, Reelin’ In The Years Photo Archive.
“Yeah, I was given an invitation. Alan Pariser, who was a mover and shaker in the scene, allowed me to come up as a guest, backstage passes. It was just fabulous; it was the most wonderful, one of the most wonderful things of my entire life. I introduced [Buffalo] Springfield, I introduced Lou Rawls as ‘the man with the pipes everybody wishes they had.’ That man had just the best…I heard him sing the other day; he’s still fabulous. I introduced Booker T and the MG’s, who introduced the Bar-Kays, who introduced Otis Redding, and there was Otis Redding. ‘This is the love crowd, right?’ is what he said. He was so congenial and amused and secure.” - Peter Tork, Rolling Stone, 2007
“Yes, we were invited to [Monterey Pop] but couldn’t work out an appearance. Peter and I were there, running around. It was a gas.” - Micky Dolenz, Song Hits, November 1967
“On a couple of occasions when he was challenged by officials going into the auditorium he never resorted to ‘I’m Peter Tork of the Monkees,’ but patiently dug out his official pass card. […] Tork is essentially a folk-orientated artist. ‘When the guitar fingers start itching, I go and play down at clubs like a troubadour.’ […] [T]here was one occasion when he sat around playing Paul Simon’s guitar to ‘Take A Giant Step’ and appeared to be planning an impromptu spot on the show. It never materialized; a pity for [Keith Altham] [has] a feeling that Peter Tork folk-singer would have been a revelation.” - NME, July 1, 1967
“Otis Redding: ‘This is the love crowd, right?’ What an experience. I saw Ravi Shankar on a half dose of Owsley’s purple acid. That was delicious — weeping with joy all the way through.” - Peter Tork, Goldmine, 1982
(Peter was asked about being in the audience at the festival during his interview on the Rik Turner Show in 1994; it starts at around the 7:31 time stamp.)

Maybe Anne didn't even intend it that way but TVL read like a manfiesto of why everyone dumps Lestat aslkjfskf I mean its undoubtedly tragic what happens to him but he's also unbearable and I totally got why Nicki and Gab and Louis&Claudia would wanna get away from him, I didn't read it thinking how sad he's being abandoned, more like GOOD FOR THEM go on and ditch him. The post-QOTD books are much more in line with what anon is describing and I would just advise them to not read that shit. I think what's very underdeveloped is why Louis suddenly wants to go back to him but pretty much all of Louis's choices are underbaked after Interview.
loool lestat de lioncourt’s very terrible no good bad. century? year? decade. the one relevant non lou entity who wants les in tvl is armand + les is blueballing him mostly out of fear of what mand could become if they ever did vamp-fuck. nick couldnt give les what he wanted, gabi couldnt give les what he wanted.. i think book louis individual arc kinda straggles on post interview but it do make some sense but like. post qotd hes essentially lestat’s waifu cuz les other love interests was flops. so i will say it do make soooooome sense why hed go back w les?.. cuz one they were less intimate in the original interview book lew always expressed longing for les yk the whole id be christ’s disciple if he was an evil blonde frenchie bit.. generally compared to his show counterpart he knew significantly less about lestat and regretted that. u can argue the interview was lew himself tryna make sense of his own life, and where lestat fit in relation to himself. as well as who lestat was? tvl is in part the answer to that question.. also end of the first book mand was the one who dumped lew cuz lew wasnt giving him the passion the frenetic longing fizzled out lew buries mand symbolically in the dulac family tomb area then mand tried to get w les and when les curved him he went to go troll dan. tvl leads into qotd & thats like. the vampire mini apocalypse spearheaded by a genocidal controlling ancient god vamp whos defeated w/ lestat symbolically if not literally succeeding the old guard of vamps as the brat prince god mode soon to come. its to a point where les + lew ending back at the mansion where they all started out is very poetic almost… like i say in the house of horrors there was love there.

Does anyone know SMALL BASIC?
"In the late 1970's and early 1980's, it seems there were computers everywhere with names like Commodore 64, Texas Instruments 99/4A, Atari 400, Coleco Adam, Timex Sinclair and the IBM PC-Jr. Stores like Sears, JC Penneys and even K. Mart sold computers. One thing these machines had in common was that they were all programmed in some version of Microsoft's BASIC. Each computer had its own fans and own magazines. Users would wait each month for the next issue of magazines with BASIC programs you could type into your computer and try at home."
"This was a fun and exciting time for the beginning programmer, but the fun times ended with the introduction of the IBM-PC in the early 1980's. Bigger and faster computers brought forth bigger languages and bigger development environments. These new languages were expensive to acquire and difficult for the beginning programmer to grasp."
"Which brings us to SMALL BASIC, which I would call a relative of the early, original BASIC language. The development of Small Basic is an attempt to rekindle the exciting days when just about anyone could sit down at a computer and write a simple program using the BASIC language. Those of you who wrote programs on those old "toy" computers will recognize the simplicity of the Small Basic language and the ease of its use. And, you will also notice Small Basic is a great environment for writing and testing code, something missing in the early 1980's. For those of you new to programming, I hope you can feel the excitement we old timers once had. For the old timers, I hope you rekindle your programming skills with these new product." (Conrod & Tylee)
Kennt jemand SMALL BASIC?
(Conrod & Tylee)

The Wake - my IWTV dream last night
I had an AU dream about IWTV and had to write it down.
In my dream, AMC's Louis and Lestat are married with 3 children (ABO/mpreg for life), but are currently seriously considering divorcing--Lestat's cheating, and Louis' more married to his job (a book editor who works nights remotely). Claudia, Madeleine/Madeline & Viktor are just kids (14, 10 and 6), caught in the middle--Claud wants to stay w/ Louis, Madeline* wants to stay w/ Claud, Vik* doesn't want them to split at all.
*10 yr old Madeline resembles a much younger Bailey Bass, but with bluer eyes cuz of Lestat, and darker skin cuz of Louis. *Vik is Lestat's mini-me, just with curlier hair.
Gabrielle babysits the kids when Loustat's fights get too nasty, but she hates babysitting, and even though she doesn't get along w/ Louis, sometimes she gangs up on Lestat with Lou ("ugh, you're just like your father!"). It's a whole mess. Where do we go from here?
Gabby recommends they all take a break at their tropical vacation home on Night Island (ofc she does). But one night, in the middle of a(nother) particularly bad argument that the kids are unfortunately there to witness, there's a bad storm--lightning, power goes out, etc. In all the ruckus, there's suddenly banging on the back patio door facing the stormy ocean, the front door by the main road, and the basement door in the wine cellar.
Les checks the entrance, Lou checks the back, Gab checks the basement. The kids hide in their rooms.
Lou sees someone unconscious on the beach, about to get sucked into the water by the waves. It's "Lestat," dressed in ancient clothes. Running up to him from the side is a frantic "Louis," also dressed in ancient clothes (1700s*--the Ep7 ball blouses), soaking wet. He's speaking rapid French, looking for the owners of the house, cuz his "Lestat" is unconscious, and 1700s!Lou has no idea where they are--their ship to Paris sank.
*1700s!Loustat is still the AMC 2022 version, cuz I have no interest in the book/film Loustats anymore, ick.
Les sees someone (a corpse!?) unconscious & bleeding in their driveway, with several broken limbs. It's "Louis," dressed in vintage clothes. A blubbering "Lestat," also dressed in vintage (1930s--all black from Ep5), is on the front porch. He's crying heavily, face bloody. He had taken Louis flying over NOLA but dropped him, and they somehow landed here.
It's a whole isekai anime, pretty much. Everyone's struck dumb once they realize they're looking at their doppelgangers, while their spouse lies "dead" before them. They need to all get in the house. The 2 Lous carry "Les" in from the water, and the 2 Lestats carry "Lou" in from the front porch.
But inside, the kids' screaming suddenly seems to have doubled, and Gab's cussing up a storm. There's another "Gab," dressed in muddy 1700s hunter's gear, catfighting modern!Gab & tearing up the basement. And there's 2 sets of kids running around scared of each other (1700s "Claudia" is 5, 1700s "Madeleine" is 21ish, and 1990s/2000s "Viktor" is 18ish--they all look like younger/older versions of the modern kids).
The chaos doesn't stop until everyone notices the half drowned "Les" & bleeding "Lou," and the confusion/panic increases.
There are 3 Lous:
modern!Lou (online book editor; looks like Dubai!Louis btw)
1700sLou (was on a ship to Paris with drowned/swamp!Les)
1930sLou (Ep5 broken & bloody, after 1930sLes dropped him)
There are 3 Lestats:
modern!Les (cheating; former rockstar; music producer)
1700sLes (drowned/swamp!Les; was on a ship to Paris)
1930sLes (guilty after having dropped broken!Lou in NOLA)
There are 2 Gabrielles:
mod!Gab (old money paleo-archaeologist)
1700sGab (old money adventurer)
There are 2 sets of kids:
Claudia (14 & 5)
Madeline (10 & 21)
Viktor (6 & 18)
The Gabs are the first to recover--mod!Gab performs CPR on drowned/swamp!Les, and the 2 awake Lous corral the kids away. 1700sGab sets broken!Lou on the floor and rearranges his limbs, while the 2 awake Lestats start pouring blood on his wounds.
The unconscious Les & Lou are still out cold, but are visibly healing. Everyone hovers around awkwardly, not knowing what else to do but wait, like they're sitting at a funeral wake almost. Everyone's clearly got burning questions.
1700sGab is distraught to see HER 1700sLes out cold, but 1700sLou doesn't know who she is. But he knows 5 yr old Claud & 21 year old Mad, and they know him.
1930sLes is the most horrified--he's seeing double of his mom, whom he hasn't seen in "centuries," and he recoils from 14yr old Claud. He doesn't know the other kids at all. He is stunned by sexy & confident modern!Lou, and pities 1700sLou, who is hella sad & weepy. (Modern!Lestat tells him to keep his eyes on his own Louis--which modern!Louis finds HIGHLY ironic.)
No one knows "Vik," but he recognizes his 6yr old self, and mod!Loustat as his dads. He doesn't know his sisters, and they don't know him, but they know each other.
They all have the same questions for each other, but don't get very far that night, as emotions take over, and everyone's confused as to how they all got there, from obviously very different time periods. But the sun is rising. The doppelganger Loustats are shocked by all the modern fixtures, and ESPECIALLY the UV windows. The modern Loustat are used to being up during the day, but the older ones aren't--1930s Les, 1990sVik, and 1700sGab are the only ones who can stay up just fine (they're strong, and more curious than tired), but all the other doubles are tired. The broken Lou & comatose Les are sheltered in spare coffins in the basement (which the chagrined Gabs offer to clean). The modern!Sisters double up in mod!Claud's room so the doppelganger!Sisters can share mod!Mad's room. 1700sLou is given the guest room so he can cry himself to sleep. 1930s Les, 1990sVik, and 1700sGab are all fine on the pullout couches in the den.
This is where my dream got spotty, and it was skipping around a lot as it kept going, like I was seeing scenes out of order. (It actually felt like episodes of The Real World or some other reality tv show--it went from suspense & drama and creeping me out like the Tethered in Us; to actually making me laugh myself awake right when I got the sense that the different Loustats were attracted to each other. O_O)
It's been bothering me how AMC said the show will still be called IWTV, not VC, cuz the big question's who's gonna keep doing the interviews? How will the interviews play out for TV, rather than in the books?
But basically the jist of my dream was that the "Interview" was amongst themselves, as the vampires all tried to figure out what had gone wrong with all of the Loustats' relationship. The most immediate concern was how the injured Lou & Les ended up that way--and it's quickly apparent that their corresponding spouses are lying/hiding things. 1930sLes was way too withholding, and 1700sLou was so emotional & guilty.
Modern!Loustat's impending divorce is mirrored in the other Loustat's issues, which start slowly coming to the fore, as they all realize that all of their relationships hadn't been great for awhile, and the kids are caught in the middle. The Gabs slowly start speaking up, revealing the part they've been playing; how Lestat's neglect of his kids & husband reflects her own bad marriage to his father, and her neglecting her own kids. Gab and Lou are too similar, and history is just repeating itself.
The ones who are most candid end up being the kids--the fact that the kids know SOME of the Loustats or siblings but not others is very telling. 1930s'Les' bad reaction to 14yr old mod!Claud is troubling, and the fact that he's so unprepared to see his mom(s), and has NO idea who the other kids are. 5yr old Claud's reaction to ALL of the Lestats is the worst, but she loves all the Lous. 21!Madeline is the most cool & collected, very detached, and clings more to bb!Claud, as Madeline isn't too comfortable around ANY of the Loustats. 18!Vik is the oddest one of all. He's the spitting image of the Leses, but no one knows him. But he seems to catch on the quickest out of everyone, like he knows/suspects what's going on, but he's very quiet & patient & sticks mostly to himself. He's most interested in bb!Vik, who's excited to have a big brother he can show off all his toys & comics to (Vik is quickly spoiled on a few plots--the most upset he's seemed to date).
It's only once the injured 1700s!Les & 1930s!Lou finally wake up that the truth starts coming out more:
1700s!Les had actually been chasing after 1700s!Lou, who'd run off with the girls to Paris. They were afraid of Les, cuz he was practically criminally insane--sick and sadistic, mean to Lou and the girls, a complete sociopath and psychopath. He was masking his fear that they'd leave him in extreme acts that only made them more desperate to leave than ever. 1700s!Loustat came to physical blows on the ship, and 5!Claud got between them and knocked Les overboard to get him away from Lou. But Lou jumped after Les, Claud accidentally(??) fell overboard (she's hard to read), and Mad jumped after Claud. Loustat & the girls magically washed ashore at the house.
1930s!Lou was indeed dropped from the sky--but Les did it intentionally. He had tried to wine & dine an increasingly disassocative Lou, who was depressed after their own 14!Claud had run away and been killed by another vamp (Bruce?Armand?). Les took Lou up into the air to try and be romantic, but they ended up arguing over Claud anyway. It got NASTY, and Lou spat "I hate you, let go of me!" Petty & vindictive, Les dropped him, and soon regretted it, but when he flew back down they were isekai'd.
18!Vik finally pipes up that he was sent to them by the Talamasca. He comes from a different dimension/time than book!Viktor. Dr Fareed still created Vik as Lestat's clone, but this Vik HATES that he grew to be an adult never knowing his father(s). He asked the Talamasca to help him find a way to make it so Les never missed out on Vik's childhood, and was never separated from Louis either. So the Talamasca sent Vik to this dimension, where he soon realizes that bb!Vik would end up raised in a broken home (mod!Loustat), or not be born at all (1700s/1930s Loustat) if Loustat didn't realize that they are a family, genuinely love each other, and that they need to learn to communicate better--not get into petty arguments, fisticuffs, or leave when things get hard.
So all three Loustats learn the error of their ways. No one divorces, amends are made between parents and children. They all go back to their proper timelines, but as better people. And 18!Vik is happy to know that even though he missed out on knowing his parents as a kid, he has eternity to get to know them now, and that at least Loustat in his timeline managed to figure all this stuff out without him, before dragging anymore of their kids into their mess. So Vik learned to appreciate what he already had; and everyone lives happily ever after.
Good for them and all--but I'm still sleep deprived.

Violet Made of Thorns is a truly captivating story about a morally grey witch, precisely a seer who can see people´s past and future threads when she touches them with her hands. As a little girl, she saved the crown prince and clawed herself into the palace, now living in her own seer´s tower and serving the king, at the same time scheming for her own advantage.
Some may find Violet to be not exactly a pleasant heroine to root for but I could relate to her pretty easily. She´s unapologetically herself… brash, sarcastic, and cunning and I loved her witty and snarky remarks. And Cyrus, oooh, this sometimes absolutely infuriating - at least for Violet - prince charming charmed the hell out of me. I guess I will never learn… always falling for the hot & cold sexy male heroes. The hate-love relationship between them is like the finest wine. Note that I write hate-love like this and not ´hate-to-love´ on purpose because this book takes enemies-to-lovers to a new level as they are both at the same time. There is a lot of sexual tension, angst, and banter. The author, Gina Chen, called this an “I can fix her” versus “I can make him worse” relationship which is absolutely correct. It explains their dynamics so well. The romance is intoxicating in the best way. I´ll be impatiently waiting for another dose now.
Speaking of their dynamic, let´s not forget the fact that Cyrus has to find a wife and Violent does not miss a single opportunity to comment on all the single ladies who are eager to marry a prince and the tabloid flyers such as Gilda´s Gab or Lace´s Things, studying Cyrus´s body to the point of it becoming an anatomy lesson. Honestly, after all the excellent ´hate kissing´ scenes there, who wouldn´t want an anatomy lesson with him, right? This whole marriage hunt brought a bit of a comedy into it and I could not be happier about it. I enjoyed it very much.
The side characters - princess Camilla and the prince´s and now also Violet´s friend Dante got into my heart as well. Camilla, Cyrus’s lesbian twin sister, was so… wow. This girl knows how to party, apparently loves anything sweet, wears lavish dresses, knows how to handle a fight, and calls people out for their… feelings? Dante does that too. I love characters like that. I guess I need a spin-off with her at the center.
The plot was intriguing. I could not wait to find out what´s gonna happen next. I loved how the book included fairytale references and how it works will well know fairytale tropes, turning them upside down to create something totally fun and new. I can honestly say that it was keeping me on my toes because I could never be sure if my theories will come true.
Overall, I fell in love with this fairytale-like cunning heroine & charming prince perfection. It´s got everything I could possibly want to completely fall in love with - great heroine, hot & cold prince, court machinations, magic, witches, secrets, prophecies, a curse, danger, magical wood, fairies, the right amount of action, incredible chemistry between characters, a bit of humor. It kept me hooked from the first page to the very end. I could not put it down and devoured the book in 2 days.
I think that fans of The Cruel Prince and Serpent & Dove could love it. It has got the angst and court intrigue of the first and well, Violet´s behavior reminded me of Jude and Lou as well - both being sharp-tongued heroines. In my eyes, it totally lives up to the hype. Also, I have a feeling that Violet Made of Thorns may appeal to those who liked These Hollow Vows because it also works with elements such as a masquerade ball, enchantments (enchanted dresses, shoes…), and fairies (but the fairies here are actually small radiant beings with wings and fairy dust) and that mentioned fairytale tropes, but also to those who do not fancy that book because Violet Made of Thorns does its own very refreshing take on these elements.
At last, I can say that the story is quite wrapped up enough at the end - there is not a cliffhanger that could slowly make you go crazy till the sequel comes out. I wonder where it will go from here and I am excited to see what happens to Cyrus and Violet next. I smell some more witchy-cursey troubles and I can´t wait!
Special thanks to NetGalley and Hodder & Stoughton for sending me an electronic reading copy in exchange my honest review.
