A darkly funny domestic horror novel about a woman who must take drastic measures to save her husband and herself from the vengeful ghost of her mother-in-law. When Ralph and Abby Lamb move in with Ralph’s mother, Laura, Abby hopes it’s just what she and her mother-in-law need to finally connect. After a traumatic childhood, Abby is desperate for a mother figure, especially now that she and Ralph are trying to become parents themselves. Abby just has so much love to give—to Ralph, to Laura, and to Mrs. Bondy, her favorite resident at the long-term care home where she works. But Laura isn’t interested in bonding with her daughter-in-law. She’s venomous and cruel, especially to Abby, and life with her is hellish. When Laura takes her own life, her ghost haunts Abby and Ralph in very different ways: Ralph is plunged into depression, and Abby is terrorized by a force intent on destroying everything she loves. To make matters worse, Mrs. Bondy’s daughter is threatening to move Mrs. Bondy from the home, leaving Abby totally alone. With everything on the line, Abby comes up with a chilling plan that will allow her to keep Mrs. Bondy, rescue Ralph from his tortured mind, and break Laura's hold on the family for good. All it requires is a little ingenuity, a lot of determination, and a unique recipe for chicken à la king…

hi i’m looking for fics that have perverted tom. like he tries to watch her undress or looks down her shirt. i love creepy obsessed tom. thanks
I think there are a decent amount of fics that lean this way. Peremo by Virrenia has some of this. As the fic goes on, he becomes more and more perverted and creepy. Others that have this as a more consistent theme are: Jagged by HiccupFound: Very sexual, very perverted, surprisingly low on the creepy though.
Of Riddles and War: Tom is very perverted and creepy throughout this series. Tempus Viatorum: Very perverted and creepy here as well. Although it is played for drama and stress than anything else. Hope these help! -LWCS --------- *Update: Adding follower submission:
A Morose Little Boy's Obsession by Sleepless_Eremite Eleven-year-old Tom Riddle boards the Hogwarts Express for the first time. Currently reading: The Last Time I Lied by Riley Sager
Tumblr media
"Fifteen years ago, summer camper Emma Davis watched sleepily as her three cabin mates snuck out of their cabin in the dead of night. The last she--and anyone--saw of them was Vivian closing the cabin door behind her, hushing Emma with a finger pressed to her lips.
Now a rising star in the NYC art scene, Emma turns her past into paintings.. They catch the attention of Francesca Harris-White, the socialite and wealthy owner of the very same Camp Nightingale--and when Francesca implores Emma to return to the camp as a painting counselor, Emma sees an opportunity to find closure and move on.
Yet, it is immediately clear that all is not right at Camp Nightingale. Already haunted by surfacing memories, Emma is suddenly plagued by a security camera pointed directly at her cabin, mounting mistrust from Francesca, and, most disturbing of all, cryptic clues Vivian apparently left behind about the camp's twisted origins. And as history begins to repeat itself and three girls go missing again, Emma must face threats from both man and nature in order to uncover all the buried secrets--including what really happened all those years ago." - from Goodreads

Prompt: write a movie concept around a Taskmaster-like show where contestant are assigned absurd or outright impossible, but apparently humorously harmless tasks, but the show is in fact an operation by some Intelligence Agency to come up with new and creative ways to perform heists, intelligence gathering, social hacks and even darker purposes.
Title: The Big Challenge
Tagline: They came to win. They had no idea what they were getting into.
Logline: Welcome to "The Big Challenge," a wildly popular reality show where clueless contestants compete in seemingly silly tasks. Little do they know, their "challenges" are actually elaborate training exercises for a covert government agency, testing unconventional methods for espionage, extraction, and even assassination (with a healthy dose of dark humor).
Characters:
Rex "The Fox" Fowler: The charming but ruthless host of "The Big Challenge," a former black ops agent who enjoys manipulating contestants for his higher-ups.
Dr. Amelia "The Owl" Evans: A brilliant but socially awkward psychologist who designs the show's challenges, analyzing contestant behavior to identify potential recruits for covert operations.
The Contestants: A diverse cast of quirky characters, each with a unique skill set unknowingly being evaluated for potential agency use.
Agent Stone: A by-the-book government agent who becomes increasingly wary of the show's true purpose and the potential danger it poses to the contestants.
Plot:
"The Big Challenge" is a reality show that has taken the world by storm. Contestants compete in a series of ridiculous tasks, from assembling IKEA furniture blindfolded to navigating a grocery store using only interpretive dance. The audience finds it hilarious, but behind the scenes, the show is a front for a covert government agency – "The Department of Unorthodox Solutions" (D.U.S.).
Rex "The Fox" Fowler, the show's charismatic host, is a seasoned ex-agent tasked with manipulating the contestants through the challenges. He observes their resourcefulness, creativity, and ability to cope under pressure. Dr. Amelia "The Owl" Evans, a brilliant but socially awkward psychologist, designs the seemingly silly tasks, meticulously analyzing contestant behavior to identify potential recruits for different branches of D.U.S.
Among the contestants are:
Brad "The MacGyver" Miller: A resourceful handyman who can fix anything with duct tape and a positive attitude.
Penelope "The Chameleon" Chang: A master of social engineering, able to blend into any crowd and manipulate people with charm.
Kevin "The Human Calculator" Sharma: A mathematical genius who can solve complex problems in seconds (useful for code-cracking missions).
As the competition progresses, the challenges become more elaborate and the true purpose of the show starts to unravel. Agent Stone, a by-the-book agent assigned to monitor "The Big Challenge," starts noticing inconsistencies and becomes suspicious of D.U.S.'s motives. He discovers that some of the tasks tested potentially lethal skills (think building an elaborate disguise kit or creating a non-lethal poison out of household ingredients).
The climax involves a final challenge that pushes the contestants to their limits, a test designed to identify an agent capable of performing a high-stakes assassination (with a trick ending, of course, where the target is a cake disguised as a person). It also brings Agent Stone and Dr. Evans to a head, forcing them to confront the ethical implications of the show.
Humor:
The absurdity of the contestants' attempts to complete the seemingly impossible tasks.
The dark humor derived from the true purpose behind the challenges and the potential danger they pose.
Rex's sardonic commentary and Dr. Evans' awkward social interactions.
The contestants' obliviousness to the bigger picture, creating moments of unintentional comedy.
Themes:
The blurred line between entertainment and manipulation.
The value of unconventional skills and thinking outside the box.
The ethical implications of using reality TV for covert purposes.
Additionally:
The film utilizes mockumentary elements, with interviews from past contestants (who remain blissfully unaware of the truth), D.U.S. officials justifying their methods, and footage from surveillance cameras capturing the hilarious (and sometimes near-disastrous) attempts at the tasks.
