This is what I like to call a wow factor! How do people come up with stuff like this?!#quiltsofinstagram #Repost @jenniferletchet ・・・ DAY 20: MY LONGEST WIP Has to be my Christmas Quilt and this Pineapple Quilt. This took me two years from start to finish and was a real slow project. It's not even that big either! It's about 80 x 200 cm and is a bed runner. It's a whole quilt using a sateen tropical print which I've hand quilted / pretty much embroidered it with 29 pineapple designs. Each one is a bit different, I used multiple coloured threads, and it has a drawing like quality. Day 30: Quilt You Are Proudest Of #GreatBritishQuilter 🇬🇧 We've made it, last day + thanks to @sarahashfordstudios + @verykerryberry for hosting. 👏🏽 I've been looking forward to sharing today's quilt, it's 2 years since I first shared it, so great to look back on this quilt today. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🗽 The quilt I’m proudest of is my winning “English Woman in New York” quilt from the @QuiltAlliance Quilt Match challenge at Quilters Take Manhattan 2016. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🗽 3 contenders, [me, @yoMaryFons and @aleedac] were challenged to take part in a Quilt Match in front of a live audience. I represented @NYCMetroMOD; my chosen team name was Quilty Spice + my team song was “Wannabe”; my team mate was Susan @EasyPiecing. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🗽 We brought along 1 yard of background fabric + were challenged to design a quilt in 1 hour using supplied fabrics + glue. The winning quilt was judged by audience applause volume. My chosen fabric was an NYC Line By Line - Night fabric exclusive to @TheCityQuilter quilt store where I'd worked in Manhattan + my design was based on English elements (tea time, union flag, crown + tiara) to represent my homeland + the background NYC fabric to represent my then current home. 🏆 I was delighted to win with @Meg4Quilts announcing me 2016 Featherweight Champ Of The Quilt World + previous winner @AllieAller presenting me with the winning belt - now proudly on display in my sewing studio + sometimes accompanying me to quilting events – swipe through to see my winning happy dance. 🏆 I took the quilt pieces home + made them into a quilt, backed + bound with another City Quilter fabric, NYC Line By Line - Day. #Repost shechasesbutterflies: EPP or FPP? I like them both, but definitely prefer the process of EPP to FPP. I love the fact that it's portable and keeps me busy in otherwise boring situations. My Bernina B330 she is small but beautiful! #greatbritishquilter with @sarahashfordstudio and @verykerryberry My machine is decorated with stickers that my husband gave me from @pinbadgeclub and a Greyson Perry stamp from @naomialicec. She is a simple domestic machine, and she does everything I want her to! Her throat could be bigger, but we do just fine!!!! I bought her two replace two ancient machines, one that could only do straight stitch, and another that could only do zig zag 😂 😂. Yep a lot of stuff to be finished 😂. A lot of wip!!! And so many ideas in my head, I need a team of helpers like Andy Warhol to help me out by doing all the boring bits🤔😜. The main wip is my #grandmothersgarden #epp which is taking awhile 😝#greatbritishquilter with @sarahashfordstudio and @verykerryberry let's be honest there are more lurking in boxes, like the pjs I cut up ready to make something from, the pinwheel blocks lurking somewhere, offcuts from my hexagon quilt (not finished quilting yet! ) that looked pretty good. Then there is the stuff that I'm not sure I want to finish, that I've gone off, or don't want to spend the time on. I think we need a "not feeling it amnesty" and swap them or give to someone else! When to call time on an idea, that is the question 🤔. Plus once I know I can do something, I get bored quickly 😂and want to more on to something more challenging. Well this is my #sewingspace 🙀for #greatbritishquilter with @sarahashfordstudio and @verykerryberry . At the moment, as you can see,it is covered in EVERYTHING (keeping it real 😊) and needs a really good tidy up! And a very thorough Hoover 😜. Things I like about my space are, I have a nice spinning chair, a big cutting board (it is under all the stuff 😂) the light in the early evening, and my small design wall. It would be nice if the radiator wasn't there so it could be bigger, but it is what it is, and definitely better than nothing!! My other sewing space is anywhere I take my #epp . I do it all over the place, mostly while waiting for stuff to happen. This week I have sewed at #redkangaroo trampoline park and at a kids play date whilst talking and drinking tea ☕️.😁 hopefully I will get to give my sewing space a good going over this week, if so I might post a picture 😂 looking forward to seeing loads of other people's spaces on #greatbritishquilter https://www.instagram.com/p/BnQ_8UBD2iQ/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=19hh87r756fq6

#wip longest one is this #grandmothersflowergarden quilt which I will finish 😂......one day! #greatbritishquilter @sarahashfordstudio @verykerryberry it's getting there I have all the fabric I need. Thanks to some generous quilty friends. It's a project I get out when I'm wanting to not think about anything, I can zone out and just carry on with it. Let my fingers go on autopilot. I've made all the decisions already, colours and pattern. So I can just sew. It's one I take on journeys and on ferrys. And something I pick up when I'm not inspired. So I actually haven't picked it up lately 😂😂🤣😂🤣😂😜 Hey it's only taken me 2 years so far!! Maybe a bit longer 🤔💭time takes on a different meaning when you are sewing ! Also, if I'm honest, when I AM feeling down and uninspired by life generally, and I work on it, I can see that I have made it grow. Even if it's by one #hexies ! And that is SOMETHING. Day 2 of #greatbritishquilter with @verykerryberry and @sarahashfordstudio where I live. I was born in London, raised on the Isle of Wight, studied in Farnham and set up home in Reading. We have been here, in lots of different houses, ever since. We live really close to Reading university, and today we made the most of the late summer sun and took a walk round the lake to feed the ducks 🦆😁. Beautiful evening❤️ Growing up on an island which was about twenty years behind the mainland in style and attitudes (maybe more than twenty years 😂) I love the multicultural vibe in reading, the shops, the good take always and restaurants. #greatbritishquilter show us your fabric stash 👀. Well mine is rather messy. I'm not really sure how best to store it to be honest, as we are tight on space and storage solutions. My best stab at containing it is some big plastic boxes and some rattan stacking box things, some sweet boxes (they have mostly 2.5 inch strips in) free from the corner shop and a large cardboard Mango box (that has nearly all of my #kaffefassett fabrics in it) that I got from the side of the road 🤣☺️. But these are not ideal, I can not see what I have, and I have to rummage to find any thing. Joining in the #greatbritishquilter with @sarahashfordstudio and @verykerryberry this is me trying to take a "nice"picture of myself 😂, (1st small one is mid sneeze 🤧) as you can see, I struggled with that 😳😜. I sew because, if I don't I get really miserable 😭. The need to be creative is something I cannot ignore. I find it an activity that can take me out of myself and let's my mind concentrate on something I have control over. It is my mindfulness and creative practice all in one😁. I love the colours the threads and my beautiful Bernina ,she is small but perfectly formed ! Sewing is something I have definitely got better at since I made my first quilt for my son ten years ago. I have two kids, one boy one girl, both with #autism and #ADHD hay ho! I try not to define myself or them by their disability!! They keep me going.....going grey and poor 😂 😂. I also have a husband who works hard and will not get rid of his stack of philosophy books to make room for more fabric🙄🤷🏻‍♀️. I like ; beer, mario kart, #epp, autum, Isle of Wight beaches, trees, running my hands along box hedges, gardening and sleeping in on Sundays 😂 😂 😂. How do I store my scraps? #greatbritishquilter with @sarahashfordstudio and @verykerryberry well, that's something that needs addressing!😂. At the moment I store thin strips in a lolly pop jar! And have bits all over the place in shoe boxes! I gave a lot of scraps away recently during #quiltywishes but they are starting to build up again!!!!
