Summer is winding down with Back to School rushing up quickly! The black walnuts will be dropping soon here in Greenwood! I plan on collecting a nice sack full. This is a study of old shells from last year. I remember my grandma used to have a kitschy little piece of art that resembled an owl made out of a walnut shell. I can only see owls now! This lovely was floundering around on the hot sidewalk this morning, being harassed by a cardinal. I gently scooped up the moth to give it a ride to some shade, but it was in full freak-out mode and took off toward the road and open sky... just to be chased by a sparrow.
